Installed wrong rom, need help - Touch Pro2 CDMA

Ok, so basically I installed a gsm rom on my phone, instead of a cdma rom, now the phone will not do anything, is there anything that can be done, or should i just buy a new phone.

Try to get into bootloader mode. Hold the volume down key + the power key at the same time. You should be able to get to the tri-colored boot loader screen. From there attach your TP2 to a USB and flash a CDMA rom like normal.

i tried that, and still nothing, i actually noticed it doesn't even wanna charge

actually it is charging, but nothing else

I just wanna know if you have saved your phone or not.
I was going to flash a gsm rom,but I see your situation now,so..
If anybody know how to change a gsm rom to a cdma rom?

Nope all it does is charge, i cant nothing else to work on it

yeah your going to need to buy a new phone. but if you are willing to donate the phone to try and see if i can come up with something to fix the ordeal i would be willing to to do that considering i am recently out of worka nd this community is the only commitment I have left.

We have Verizon Wireless and T-Mobile and Touch Pro 2's on both carriers and I did that by mistake on my T-Mobile device. Okay, this is what I did; first, you're going to need a clean sd memory card that will at least hold the ROM you're flashing. I don't recommend you put anything else on this card except the ROM.
One note, you must be Hard SPL'd to do this; if not this is all mute.
The reset button on Verizon's TP2 is located under the back cover on the device's left side just under the volume rocker; it's a red dot that says "RESET".
With the ROM on the memory card insert the memory card; next hold down both the volume down and reset button simultaneously, releasing the reset button first and then the volume down rocker and your bootloader screen with Red, Green, Blue and White with yellow characters will appear. By the way you can also use this procedure to flash your device via sync and PC if "USB" appears in the white portion of the screen if you have an existing "CDMA" ROM on your Rhodium 500 device (CDMA).
Now, I'm going to tell you right from the start this works perfect with GSM Rhodiums; I've never tried it with my wife's device which has God status in this house and I'm not about to piss her off on a wild hunch.
Double check the forum whether someone else has been a victim and it's not all that unusual, though I admit I felt like a real dumbass when I did my device and I got an all white screen. Just remember RHOD500 is your device; you see RHOD210; that's GSM. Take care!

First you should do what SNittyKitty wrote.
What company is your TP2 from?
If that doesn't make it respond write to HTC Support and tell them you install a ROM from there page and now it's not responding. And by not responding I mean the charging light not turning on when connected.

Same Problem
I had someone send me the unlocker for the Rhod500 and it was actually for the Raph. Although I did not find that out until after I tried to flash it. Now I have the same problem. Any luck yet? Also, when i plug in the phone to the computer it comes up in device manager but I cant do anything. I figure if it is in device manager I should be able to fix the issue but I dont know.

If you flashed the raphael unlocker then there is no fixing the phone. It is toast, it does make a nice paper weight

Phone no longer boots

Wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to reapir this if it's possible:
I have a TMO SDA which I apparently got confused and thought was an HTC Typhoon last night rather than a Tornado.
I decided to follow some directions to upgrade the Typhoon to WM6, and after the first reboot (http://www.geocities.com/gggbitonti/typhoon.htm), all it does is turn on to this white screen and not do anything.
Is there any way to repair this or is it KIA?
Thanks,
Brian

Are you able to get into the bootloader mode.. Check by holding the camera button and connecting the USB. Please also mention what the screen says?? if it says tornado.. SPL 2.xxx something.. then its cool you can install a new system and your phone will be fine.. If not.. you are having a expensive paperweight...

No, nothing happens if I hold hte camera button and connect the USB cable. If i hit the power button it will just come up with a white screen - no messages. I let it sit for a couple hours like that and it was just a white screen the whole time.
Thanks.
it is not bad, you have to get a new phone!
You just bricked your phone, since its already dead, might as well try to JTAG it

Home Button, Trackball, Power Button.....BLUE LIGHT?

I pressed the Home button+Trackball+Power Button.....when starting my G1.
The Phone doesn't "power on" but the led light comes on BLUE and stays lit.
Any idea what this is for or means?

Wow, clearly you have no brain. My phone is bricked, check the New SPL and IME thread and maybe you'll have the slightest clue what I'm talking about.
MY QUESTION HERE IS VERY SIMPLE.
While trying to get past G1 boot screen, I pressed the
Home button+Trackball+Power.....
The Phone doesn't "power on" but the led light comes on blue and stays lit.
Battery pulls have been done numerous times over the past 2 hours. If you don't have a clue as to what the blue light represents, then don't bother replying to this thread. Ok.
Thanks.
when u installed the new spl did u reflash the rom?
cuz thats the problem
when the new spl is added you have to reflash the rom u were using
dont wipe so you wont lose your apps
A customer came into my store 2 days ago with a g1 that would not turn on and all it had was just a blue led lit. Tried everything to get a screen to come up and no luck.
That same update bricked my phone, t-mobile boot is all i see
home+power = dont work
camera+power= dont work
nothing did now i have to return it

I rephrased my 1st post so I could get an answer about what this post is for. I'm not an idiot, I know how to flash an SPL/ROM/ whatever.
The phone is bricked, I am one of many, check the New SPL and IME thread.
That has nothing to do with my topic here though. Thanks.

I can get the G1 screen to come up, but that's all. I just didn't know if the combo of keys I pressed to start the phone meant something.
Turns out if you just press the trackball in and press power that will trigger just the Blue LED light to come on as well.
Just trying to figure out if this is useful or just more G1 shananigans. lol.
is the G1 screen comes up your phone is NOT bricked...
try flashing the regular JF ADP1.5.. if that dont go, start flashing old roms(RC29, RC30 etc..) hope that works
Saw this posted on a forum for T-Mo

(found on forums.tmonews.com)
The problem is caused by ppl powering the device on, and when they press the red END key they are also holding down the MENU and pushing in the track ball at the same time.
This then enables a lock on the phone the only way around this is to pull the battery and turn the phone back on with/out pressing an holding the menu and trackball.

well plug the charger into the phone with the battery still intact.....then remove the battery while the phone is still plugged in. then unplug the charger and plug it back in........place battery back into phone and then power it up. That worked for me.

It actually can be bricked head over here --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=515822 and you will see that it is. Persons are not able to get into recovery even unable to get into the boorloader screen. By pressing home + power or camera + power. it can be bricked and show the G1 boot screen there are 7 or so phones that are like this now.

Just a generic lock? awesome. That's all I was wondering. Thank you!
Blue light happened when I washed my G1. I can occasionally get it to start up, try hitting the power button for a sec, hit it a gain a few times and see what happens. Throwing some trackball presses in there seemed to help too. G1 is an odd creature...
7 phones bricked and still counting thanks to the H special SPL.
Not so sure it's the SPL
one correspondent who purports to be an associate of T-Mo suggests that that button-press combination invokes a hardware lock that can be undone. see above

sir*mez:
If it gets to the T-Mobile-screen, the phone is NOT bricked.
If it's able to show the picture, it furthermore shows that atleast that part of the flash is intact (The picture resides on the splash1 partition, while the secondary is on splash2).
barlev869 & arqueware:
Hardware-lock? My bet would be this is some sort of test-mode, maybe for hardware-diagnostics?
It's not a lock if it can be avoided by just rebooting the phone (Which it can, i've been in the blue-led mode several times to try to guess what it was doing when booted like that...).

From my understanding of the problem, You're half right. Part of the system does indeed come up but unfortunately that isn't enough to get adb to run or to boot into recovery mode or into fastboot. Basically, while you're right that it's not fully bricked and it is theoretically possible to fix it, the phone doesn't have any interface at all to do so. It'd be like trying to fix BIOS settings on a computer when you don't have a keyboard.
NOTE: I haven't flashed the new SPL so haven't been able to run into any problems with it, but from reading other people's descriptions of what happened, the above seems to be the case.

Verizon Touch Pro2 Bricked

I have a verizon touch pro 2 that is bricked because it was unplugged mid-way through the flashing of an SPL. Not only was it unplugged but the SPL was for a GSM Touch Pro2. Im really desperate to get this phone working. I have a few questions, How do you put a CDMA variant of the Rhodium into bootloader, ive read this: (http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Rhodium) and tried it but it does not seem to work, what does it mean if the led is solid green or solid orange because these come up when i plug it in, and my computer detects the phone as Qualcomm CDMA Technologies MSM, but cannot find the drivers for it is there someway i can get the drivers to restore the correct SPL.
Thanks

Well, if you can get into the bootloader you'll be fine. To do that, press and hold VOLUME DOWN and then press RESET till you see the tri-color screen. Than attach your phone to your computer and reflash your stock ROM.
thats the only problem i cant seem to get it into bootloader mode
try to press and hold VOL Down and Power while pushing the soft reset hole
bootloader
No need for soft-reset hole with VZW. Power on phone while holding VOL down key and it will enter bootloader.
Nate
sadly i have tried all of these methods and have got nothing, thanks anyways guys
you also have to hold the phone answer and end buttons.....
all i did on my vzw tp2 was hold down the vol down button and hit soft reset and kept holding the vol down button and that worked.
Is it the same?
Is this the same "stolen" TP2 that you brought up in the other thread?

And that is the issue young padawan, In reality it is fraud and to fail to disclose the full details either here or on your ebay listing shows even more fraud not to mention a lack of morals. IMHO of course.
And if it wasn't a big deal why did you feel the need to repost without all the facts that were in the original post?
Ok maybe it's not that humble after all.... but it IS my opinion.

Well to answer his question,,,,,,
,,,,,If it says somthing to the effect of "Qualcomm MSM in download mode" then the bootloader has been corrupted and the chipset has defaulted to a mode that requires tools that he is not going to get his hands on in order to fix it. So yes it is bricked, and I know nothing about his previous posts about it, or fraud, or whatever, but can you say KARMA ????? sure you can, I like the way you say that ;-) <<<<-----Mister Rodgers.....

[Q]Galaxy R shuts down immediately after I turn it on

Hello.
I am new here but I've been lurking for a while even before there was a dedicated area for the SGR. This might be a long read since I put in a lot of details. Now, straight to my point.
My fone is new. Not even a month from purchase. Never rooted since I'm afraid I might brick it since I'm not well inclined with technology.
It was ok when I got it but the problem started to occur a few days ago.
When I turn on the fone, it goes past the samsung animation part then, the screen goes all black, even if i press any button, I assume it's turned off.
What I tried:
1. Tried lodging a small piece of paper in the battery area because I thought it was a terminal problem. (did not fix it)
2. Cleaned gold plated contacts of the battery and it's phone counterpart. (did not fix it)
3. Factory Reset the thing by pressing vol up+mid button when turning on. Deleted ALL of my things in the fone but the problem is still there.
So, when the fone "dies" on me, even if I don't take out the battery, it will turn on but it will prolly turn off again as soon as 10 secs after the samsung animation part. When I take out the battery, sometimes it will operate normally but, it will turn off again randomly. The past few days have been very tasking for me. I think I'm going crazy....
What I've done to the fone since getting it:
1. install a custom skin from Market
2. install some social media apps and messenger apps
3. installed a passcode thing to make things private
4. installed games via ASTRO. (download apk from net + put in SD card via USB + install via ASTRO)
5. installed kies into my laptop and connected the fone. Also via Kies Air
6. Restored the fone to factory settings by pressing vol up+middle button when turning fone on.
Just a few minutes ago, when the fone was starting up, I saw a WHITE TRIANGLE with a (!) in the middle on the upper left area of the screen but it was gone in a few secs.
My fone data:
model num gt-i9103
android ver 2.3.5
baseband ver i9103xxki2
kernel ver [email protected]#3
build num gibgerbread.jpki3
My dilemma:
1.I live in the Philippines and the fone was purchased in Qatar. I can send it back but maybe as a LAST RESORT, shipping costs would be quite expensive....
2. SGR is not released here in my home country so I doubt if I can get proper support. Even screenguards are not available here for this model.
Again, I apologize for the VERY LONG read but I tried me best to put in every detail I can to help solve my problem. I look forward to seeing your replies. Please feel free to ask me further details to help you help me. Happy New Year.
PS:
I alos tried calling the fone after it does it's shutdown thing and I think it really dies because it's not ringing like it should be when the fone is turned on.
When I think everything is ok and peachy, I start watching MVs in youtube but, after like 20mins, the fone just turns off by itself. I know it's off because there is no sound coming out so I doubt that the screen just "Sleeps". Thank you again.
Hi, there were more people with the problem you described above. Unfortunately I'm afraid it ended up with service. But since you have an international warranty you may try to contact samsung customer service and ask if you can send your phone directly to them in Philippines instead of shipping it to Quatar first.
exactly my problem.. I gave it to the Samsung service centre, they changed the motherboard of the phone, but still, the problem was there. The new motherboard was also faulty.. They are again changing the motherboard of the phone.. lets see what happens now.
Thank You for your replies. I will try to put up a vid so I can give you lot a better "picture" of the situation.

No sim card so far no shut off.

What I tried so far:
No sim + no sd card = still auto shutdown
No sim + 2gb sd card from box = still auto shutdown
this is driving me nuts.

Nexus 5 Screen will not light up

Hey guys I've had my N5 for almost a year now but it seems to have gone kaput on me recently...
On Monday I was on a skype call, (just audio) when my phone suddenly restarted, I didn't pay much mind to it as that happened before and it would usually just cut back on, but this time, it restarted, and restarted and just didn't stop. That lead me to think its the power button being stuck so i checked it out and made sure its not being depressed and well yeah it wasn't. And soon after that the phones screen was sometimes on during the reboots and sometimes off. I knew it was rebooting because the N5 vibrates a bit when Google pops up on the loading screen in a certain way, but yeah now the screen doesn't light up at all, there's still vibrations and sounds like when I call or when I say Okay Google a few times, the LED will even light up during a call. I know the phone is "on and working" in the background but the screen doesn't light up and as such I can't touch it, any ideas and or advice friends?
bump de bump?
Possibly your backlight burnt out? Water damage?
if you are running cyanogenmod, you could be experiencing sod "sleep of death". thats when you know the phone is on and working, but the screen doesnt turn on. ive been reading lots of complaints about cm and the sod.

As the phone kept rebooting it went from seeing everything, to seeing nothing but the back light to dark, so maybe? It was just by me on my desk too so I was doubtful about the water damage but I put it in the sealed rice bag for about 24 hours just in case but still no luck.
I actually am running cyanogenmod and whenever I do have a problem I always feel that its related to CM as the phone doesn't have any physical damage...maybe I should look into that, any other ideas friends?
P.S I am using the ElementalX Kernel and UNFORTUNATELY I turned on the FAST CHARGE USB option and that makes the phone play funny with the computer, if you guys have any advice as to how I could turn off that option please do let me know

I used this tool to try and remove anything that could be bothering my phone, software wise, and I'm not sure if it wiped away Kernels and Roms but thought you guys should know, my computer now recognizes the phone and I can see folders and such, which are now empty.

all it does is completely wipe your phone and install an older android version. flashing the factory img will do the same, except youll get the newest android version. don't use these tools, doing things the right way will be more beneficial to you. anyways, since cm is having issues, try a different rom, or just go stock.

if still no screen, its probably physically damaged(hit or factory damage). is an exchange possible?

Well i got mine through the Play Store and I did think about an RMA, I know there was that free screen replacement thing going on but the customer rep sounded like he had no idea what I was talking about. and I'm thinking its a flex cable issue as my phone hasn't incurred any damage from drops or bumps or anything since i make it a point to be stationary while using phone, but....where the sim card tray is, that "bridge" or thin piece on the bottom side toward the phone has split as a result of my bad sim card ejecting, but that was when i first obtained the phone, also there is another split, inside the phone there is a canopy above the charging port that is split but i still know that occurred long before this, and its not even an electrical piece along with the sim card bridge thing.
BUTTT yeah im afraid if I RMA they will use that as an excuse to charge me $400, even though I know it's not playing any sort of factor in my screen acting up....Is there a policy on that?

I suppose I might as well shoot for it? Is there a way to decline paying for the device if they decide that I should pay?

send back the rma? honestly, i dont know. i dont know anyone thats ever had to pay. unless its obvious that you did something, youll be fine.
So when you hold down the power button and the vol - for about 15 seconds the bootloader screen doesn't show up? If so, yeah try to RMA.
I will chat it up with one of the customer service peeps and see what they think then, and maybe even hopefully one will know about the replace anything deal

and yup Ik its in bootloader mode though because the computer beeps and tries installing drivers and what not and also because it does that single vibrate, but yeah the screen is still dark so I can't see my selections, I believe I can still actually make a selection though, just unable to see them

Check to make sure you have the newest drivers (there's a sticky in the general section with all the useful info). If you bought it from the play store see if you can get an RMA - Google seems to have a good rep with this. It wouldn't hurt to flash a factory image to erase everything either before sending it off (privacy and whatnot). If you have the newest TWRP (2.8.0.1) if you boot into recovery and you should be able to access the internal storage without having to select anything (in case there's anything there not backed up). Boot to recovery is volume down twice and power I think.

Well now that I used that tool I'm not sure if my recovery is still TWRP or if it's stock, it flashed a stock factory image I'm told, but that doesn't remove the Kernel and Recovery too does it? I wanna get it as stock as possible before I sent it out. At this point I believe it has a factory image but I can't say for sure about anything else
