[MOD] Desire Camera R2 Based on various kernel mods [UPDATE: 5/3] - Nexus One Themes and Apps

OK, here's my first real contribution to the Android community... and I owe all credit to the amazing cooks out here...
I take no credit for anything, other than the fact that I kanged Paul's, Pershoot's, Cyangen's, intersectRaven's, Ivan Dimkovic's and Termana's work...
PLEASE READ THIS WHOLE POST BEFORE DOWNLOADING AND FLASHING. I SUGGEST U READ THE POSTS OF THE ORIGINAL KERNEL AUTHORS AS WELL.
This is a mod of the Desire Camera R2 port by Paul.
I just pushed the changes to various kernel mods including the stock CM506 kernel.
This should work on any stock version of CyanogenMod... tested on CM 5.0.5.x & CM 5.0.6... These mods should work with other ROMs as well, but I have not tested any. Try at your own risk.
Instructions:
1. Pop the zip file onto your SD card.
2. Reboot into Amon RAs recovery.
3. Do a nandroid backup [VERY IMPORTANT IN CASE YOU FACE SOME PROBLEMS!].
4. Select "Flash zip from SD" and select this zip.
5. Reboot.
Note:
This will flash a modified Pershoot's OC/UV kernel boot.img and replace the camera app. Flashing the boot.img is necessary since this mod requires a change in init.rc. Flashing another boot.img will cause the Desire camera to FC. If you want to flash another kernel, flash the zImage and push the wlan ko. Please use at your own risk (but, no this will not brick your phone).
Known Issues:
You might encounter FCs if you use NexTheme Goodies add-on.
Update (4/26):
Using Pershoot's UC/OV & UC/OV Xtra kernel mods
Using intersect Raven's AVS kernel mods
Using Ivan Dimkovic's AVS & AVS OC kernel mods
Using Termana's .34rc3 kernel mod
Update (4/27):
Using Pershoot's UC/OV & UC/OV Xtra 33.3 kernel mods - 4/26
Using intersect Raven's AVS 33.3 kernel mods - 4/27
Using Ivan Dimkovic's 800mv AVS 33.2 kernel mods - 4/26
Update (4/29):
Using intersect Raven's 800mv AVS 33.3 kernel mods - 4/29
Using Termana's OC/UV 34rc5 kernel mod - 4/28
Update (5/2):
DIY kit and How-To document added (Desire-Camera-R2-DIY).
Update (5/3):
Using intersect Raven's 800mv & 925mv BFS & CFS AVS 33.3 kernel mods - 5/3
Using Ivan Dimkovic's 800mv & 925mv OC & Non-OC AVS 33.3 kernel mods - 5/2
Using Pershoot's UC/OV & UC/OV Xtra Old Wifi & New-WiFi 33.3 kernel mods - 4/30

Lol I know how to do it, but I'm just asking him to make it noobie friendly.

I consistently get "Your SDCard is Full" message when trying to take the pic.

That strange. It works fine for me when I take pictures. Hopefully someone can help you with that issue. :S

Btw, thanks Craig I'm so glad that I can use the desire cam again ^^ I miss it so much ~~~

Reflashed the Kernal update and it works now...I had been using CameraZoom, but think I'm going to uninstall it now as I never really used the plugins.
Thanks!

It works Thank You

Um nevermind... I take back what I said about the fact that it's working properly... it actually isn't.
The camera occasionally closes on me. Sometimes it also restarted my phone when I try to open it too.

Why there is a need to install it together with boot image ? Isn't it just a regular system application with additional libraries ?
If this is a case, is it possible to remove the boot image from the package - this way it can be used by anyone who want to run a different kernel and it won't be any need to reflash the kernel after installing this?

Try Wipe Cache and Wipe Dalvik-Cache and Reset Battery stats and then flash this Camera\Kernel mod
Or try separately flash Kernel and then flash Camera\Kernel mod... I was the flashing of a kernel before flash this mod and no doing Wipe
Sorry for my English

That's what I did ^^;

You should probably mention that by using this, one also overwrites the current kernel.. No good if you use another kernel that the one supplied with this .zip.

Nice work!
Is there a way to change the default names of the pic?
"date_time.jpg" would be nice so they are ordered correctly in gallery..

Actually, this has changes in init.rc (to initialise the htc framework) which can only be changed by flashing the boot image. So no, there's no way to get it working without flashing the boot

[HACK] (Updated 5/25/10) UNIVERSAL OVERCLOCK for ANY ROM-- Wifi Fixed Version 2.0.1

Update to the universal overclock. I've tested it working on several ROMS... seems to be better than my first one. Based off dumfuq's latest OC kernel for CM5 which is based off the latest cyanogenmod. Instructions are the same as below. Let's set some G1s on fire!
EDIT WIFI FIXED NOW
UNIVERSAL OVERCLOCK VERSION 2.01 WIFI FIXED
This can be flashed right over what you have now
EDIT IT DOES WORK ON 1.5-1.6 ROMS !!!!!
Below you'll find a link to an overclock update.zip ... all you have to do is flash it, regardless of your ROM and use set cpu to tweak your settings. It will allow you to clock the CPU up to 825mhz!!! Anything over 768mhz locks up the phone so you may want to set a max value via userinit.sh. 652mhz seems to be stable for me
WARNING: Overclocking can shorten battery life and kill the PROC on your phone. I'm in no way responsible for your phone getting hotter than the sun and exploding.
NANDROID BEFORE FLASHING THIS
I'm not a DEV... i just like to tinker. All I did was notice this and throw it all together--------CREDIT GOES TO Dumfuq, Koush and Pershoot for making this possible
Instructions:
----------------------
INSTRUCTIONS HAVE BEEN CHANGED
*Download and install setcpu.
*Select auto detect (ensure it is set at 528mhz) make sure "set on boot" and "ondemand" are selected
*Download and flash THIS update.zip up to 652mhz Stable or this stable 576mhz overclock from Pershoot from recovery and reboot
*Go back into setcpu... hit "menu" and select autodetect again ...you'll notice you now have frequencies for up to 825mhz
*Configure min and max frequency to your liking (652mhz seems to be best for me) (you may want to set a sleep profile of 245min/245max since you won't need OC while you aren't using the device)
*Enjoy
TESTED AND WORKING ON Cyangenmod 5.0.7 / KingKlick's ERIS2G1 / ZXHero 1.5 / ZXHero 2.1 / KingKlick's Legend2G1 / NoSense 1.5 / HTC CLay's Superfast / ALL CSDI ROMS !

What ROM are you flashing this on top of?
Agreed, the zip isn't signed correctly. Here's a working version.
Might want to thank Koush and Pershoot for the kernel script too.
This sounds awesome, it could make many sense roms much more usable as a daily!! Will flash and test later tonight when I get home from work. Thanks!

Sorry for the confusion I did not sign the zip properly. SHOULD BE WORKING NOW.
Would you be willing to talk about how this works and how it can work on any Rom. I would be interested in knowing that.

Uses Anykernel.zip created by Koush
updater-script runs and extract the boot.img from your current ROM.
It unpacks the boot.img into kernel and ramdisk.
It repacks newboot.img with the new kernel and the same ramdisk.
It flashes the newly created boot image.
I got the source HERE

So if I'm reading this right, your using koush's anykernal method (which pershoot uses on his kernals) with dumfuq's patch. Good ****.
You might want to let people that dumfuqs kernal defaults to 8xx at boot, so a lot of people won't boot if they don't set default boot after flashing. This can be done with userinit.sh or in /system/banner or something like that if u don't have an ext partation w/userinit.sh. its explaind how to push the line in other theard. Id copy and paste here, but I'm driving right now, lol.
You also might want to give pershoot xtra kernal a shot also. It maxes at 576, but also has other optimasations included and if stable on all g1's.

Thanks for the heads up. I've edited the instructions to install set cpu first so when they flash the update it will still boot up at 528 and they can change accordingly

I'm pretty sure you can set the max speed via userinit.sh.... something like
"#!/system/bin/sh
echo 633600 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_max_freq"
in other news i just got this to work on a 1.5 sense ROM!!!!!!
Thanks, I'm about to test this out
Thanks bro!
Does anyone know if I can just flash this ota with just my phone? I downloaded the zip ota, and astro shows that it's on my sd card, but when I go to recovery to flash zip, it's not showing up...?
Just impatient to try this cuz it sounds sweet, lol, but I know if I can't do it ota I can do it later tonight at home...

[CF-ROOT] CF-ROOT for Gingerbread XXKPM-XXKPH-JPKP5 UPDATE 20.10.2011

First of all... Thanks Chainfire!!!! This is totally based on your work.... i made only some MOD....
Ok, the work is quite finished... the CF-ROOT for I9003 is ready!
I called this "beta version" (since i need your tests/opinions) but all might work.
IMPORTANT: This is only for KPH Firmware!!!
You can flash this over any other CWM or over the stock FW.
Many people will ask "Why i have to install this?"... because with this your phone will have:
- Root ( don't need to use SOC or any ZIP);
- Busybox 1.17.2;
- Sqlite3 v3.7.2;
- init.d support (you can put in the folder /system/etc/init.d all the script that you want to be loaded at the startup);
- New fixed CWM ( unyaffs issue has been fixed - offline charge fixed - USB storage mode while in CWM fixed);
- Add EXT4 support to the phone ( so you can convert the filesystem to ext4 to improve performance);
- full working CWM Manager (backup - restore - delete backup - install apk - flash update.zip - flash kernel - reboot to CWM);
- Tweaks Manager with various tweak ( Ram Min Free - SD Speed - I/O Scheduler - Kernel Scheduler - CPU Conservative Governor - Swappiness - Ram Script by Juwe11 - Media Stagefright)---> Many people asked for Juwe Ram Script ---> to enable it completely choose in the Tweaks Manager: Ram Script - Ram Min Free and Swappiness;
- Auto ZIP-Align on boot - You can choose it in the tweaks app(NEW)
- Reviewed tweaks values (some from darky's rom some from hardcore some from other post in XDA)( thanks to bigeyes0x0 and Misledz )(NEW)
- Custom Boot-Animation support (place your custom bootanimation in /system/media/ and call it sanim.zip)(NEW)
To do:
- other tweaks suggested by you...
- whatever can be added.
Let me know what you think
HERE you can find the original post.
HOW TO INSTALL:
1- Flash with Odin the .tar file
or...if you went from a previous version of CF-ROOT
2- Download the .zip file into the external SD the open CWM Manager --> flash Kernel --> select the file you have just downoaded
IMPORTANT:
If you cannot find the two apps on your app drawer maybe you haven't space left on /system so delete some unused apps like aldiko, delere /system/cfroot folder and reboot
IMPORTANT/2: after the flash the phone might take some time to boot. You might think that it freeze on Samsung Logo but it's normal cause the auto-zipalign proc need some time. Just Wait.
UPDATE: Added CF-ROOT with my custom kernel. This have Ext4 inside the kernel (no modules) and OC to 1.1 Ghz. I think that it is secure. I haven't test it very well so please report me the issues you will find.
!
Version 05.09.2011 Changelog:
- added Graphics Boost Tweak (thanks Gana)
- added acid tweaks (thanks to the people that worked on it .. specially Bigeyes0x0);
- reviewed 00tweaks file by Bigeyes0x0;
To disable journaling on ext4 partition apply the attached journaloff.zip in CWM (Not CWM Manager app - it must be fixed).
There're two version of the CF-ROOT, the version with **CWM_Manager** can be flashed with CWM Manager App (select flash kernel) the other with odin (like always)
UPDATE 20.10.2011:
CF-ROOT for XXKPM can be found HERE:
- Standard Version --> http://www.multiupload.com/S463K75UED
- Surprise version ( i suggest you this) --> http://www.multiupload.com/G20L6PL5WC
What's new ?
- I finally finished the custom bootanimation support.... now works like he have to works. Just copy your bootanimation into /system/media and rename it to sanim.zip.... i think that here you can find what you need http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=17322814#post17322814
IMPORTANT!!!
If you have installed the beta version you must know that the ext4 conversion for that doesn't work properly. Ok, system, cache and dbdata will be on ext4 but data not. This because the init binary check on boot if /data have rfs FS and, if not, it format the partition wiping all your data.
In the new version i modified the init binary so it cannot do it more
I must say that i became mad to discover this damn thing !
A few questions: Are you using the latest fixed version of CWM? Also you mentioned that you would be releasing another update soon regarding the Nandroid backup image corruption issue. Is it in this release?
Also: Is this an alternative to ROM manager, apart from the inclusion of the tweaker tool?
Regarding the enhancements, could you please elaborate on some of them and what is safe/not safe to use (particularly in the tweaks and what they do)?
What I understood, after looking over all the posts, was that you optimized the CF-Root by chainfire for the i9003, by using a compatible Root, CWM, and adding an ext4 kernel? Are you going to port the ext4 converter tool as well? Will we be able to use an external SD card with ext4 formatting (Could be used to store files larger than 4GB)?
Sorry about the ton of questions. Trying to learn, and what better way to learn than from the best!
I'm going to take it out for a test drive now on XXKPE with ext4! Will report back later!
Thanks for your valuable work, I'm a huge fan!!!
Cheers
Update: Confirming that the passive charging bug has been fixed! Thanks Skin1980!
I cannot find the CWM or Tweaks icons in the app drawer as indicated in your screenshots. I can access CWM recovery mode using the 3 button combo though.
I had installed the last version of CWM by Amit and formatted with ext4 and I just used ODIN to flash over that install. I tried flashing again, still not appearing in app drawer. Any solutions?
Great job skin.. Hoping for the early release of a stable one.. Will test it later
Sent from my GT-I9003 using XDA Premium App
it's great...>.<
Auguri! Ok wow, This is pure genius . I've always been wondering what our CWM were based off. I guess using this would fix most issues people get when flashing CWM, since it's based off the original firmware
Also I'm loving the tweaks, they seem to make the phone more smooth, Although I've seen a few bugs after applying this I can't seem to use the V6 charger script anymore I get an error, will be posting one shortly. There are some minor hiccups in between and I tend to get FC on some apps when I multitask.
Edit: Turns out It's busybox related, no shell access. I've tried launching Busybox by Stericsons to check and It says no root access was given and boots me out.
i happy that u r belong to this community
Is there any recovery module or tweak available, in which we can handle basic file operation like copy, move from sd card to system or any thing similar?

1- The CWM used is always the last... if i'll update the CWM i'll update the CF-ROOT;
2- The CWM fixed reguard nandroid backup is under test;
3- My CWM isn't ROM Manager compatible... with the CWM Manager from Chainfire you can do a lot of things without going into CWM
4 - to convert in EXT4 just follow the guide on the other thread;
5- Not sure if you can format in XT4 your external_sd... try ;
6- The tweak are all sure... now i haven't time to exlplain better... some don't work.... some other work.
7- If the icon don't appear in app drawer try to check into system/app if the two files are there... if not try to remove /system/cfroot folder and reboot. Maybe your system folder is full so you can install they manually, the original apk are inside /res/misc/ folder.

or getting 3g speed in 2g plans...
I need this very badly...
I am not getting exact idea that what exact cf root does??? Or how cf root is so special...?? Will this make our work easy to do changes in kernal (that would be great)...???
Please can anybody in simple language....!!!

What your asking for is impossible.
Update!
The problem I had turned out to be due to the lack of space in the "/system" folder - as you had predicted Skin1980! Once I deleted some unnecessary software, I was up and running fully within minutes!
The phone works great! The fixes are really good! Having no issues except for one so far. I can't seem to mound "sdcard" in CWM recovery mode and cannot do a restore, for the same reason, from the CF-ROOT menu.
I have a feeling it's something I did wrong earlier, so I'll reflash completely and try again ('cause I have a lotta time on my hands atm and I want the bestest possible phone I can get).
Note: This doesn't seem to be compatible with DDKB2. Assuming that this is mainly for GB firmwares? Can someone corroborate this?
As usual, thanks!

I did notice that initially it was fast. But as I kept it going through the day to recalibrate the battery, it did slow down and start to lag. I thought it was something to do with that. Also I felt that I had done something wrong with the flashing.
Going to overhaul my phone completely: Format, re-partition, XXKPE install (flashing twice), flash fixed CWM from the other thread, root using SOP 2.1.1, install busybox requirements for deodexing (this failed for me the last few times), restore settings using Titanium Backup, Nandroid backup, ext4 this baby, restore, and then install CF-ROOT to monitor.
Wish me luck! See you guys on the other side... again!

You've got the wrong thread mate!
Your bandwidth is capped by you operator and is dependent on how much they allocate you. On top of that 2G is physically limited to certain speeds which, usually, cannot be surpassed by legal means, and the illegal ones give you too less of a boost vs complications and errors to even bother about (I mean big ass hardware)!

[ROM][17 Feb] GGL ROM - Defy Green Lens [Android 2.3.6]

GGL ROM - GingerbreadGreenLens ROM (please understand that this is my 1st ROM which is based on the nandroid provided by walter79's)
Donate to him (walter79): https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=VNEELS79XLXNJ
I've created this to help Green Lens users (like myself) to get "stock" Motorola Defy+ 2.3.6 easier. Without flashing greenbreadmod, battery fix etc.
This ROM works on Red Lens also
For Red Lense users change /etc/media_profiles.xml with this:http://www.mediafire.com/?yrgm6t2xdtjgpz9 and set permissions
for proper FPS on bayer module
Why this and not CM7.2?
Well, I really love CM7.2 but on this ROM I get Faster 3D (sais Quadrant) and Better(faster) (IMHO) GPS than CM7.2.
How to install:
-Extract the GGL-ROM folder from archive
-Put the folder on sd-card in clockworkmod/backup
-Go to recovery and restore back-up
-Go to Advance restore and restore boot & devtree
-Enjoy
For those of you which come from stock 2.2 and you need 2nd init & Recovery:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1032212

This ROM is based on 4.5.1-134_DFP-231 from 12. Jan. 2012 (with new lockscreen)
Contains:
- 1% battery ready, deodexed, 720p, debranded (thanks walter79)
- GreenBreadMod2 (with 4.5.1-134-DFP-139 ramdisk)(walter79)
- batteryfix(walter79)
- I really hated Motorola transition animations (except rotation). I removed them and added ICS ones.
- Widescreen Recording
- Added Reboot button
- Reduced proximity sensor delay to 150 ms
- Changed FVGA recording codec to m4v.
- Changed build.prop to display correct model MB525
- Removed task manager (it was useless anyway) Here if you want it back: http://www.mediafire.com/?cbir21289tdsq75 put it in system/app and set permissions
- Red Motorola Pulse Bootanimation
- init.d support
- Zipalign at boot
- RamOptimizer (script at boot)
- CM7 libsqlite.so (Faster I/O)
- Deblurred & Deactivated Setup (at 1st start you'll get "communicating with server" for ~1-2 minutes) (from build.prop thanks walter79 for guide)
- Default Language: en_US

It's very fast and smooth. Feedback from users also reflect this.
No bugs reported/found.
You should give it a go! I think you won't be dissapointed
Please test and feedback.
As an head's up: I don't plan to heavily customize this (I want to be closer to pure Motorola) or to release many updates
Download nandroid:http://www.mediafire.com/?xr2oggidommtuei
Great job buddy!
Do you mind telling me how you replaced the transitions with ICS ones?

there's a guide here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1342388
but it's not enough since motorola have their own animations. so in addition to this you have to make a copy of this files (you'll find them in the tutorial):
activity_close_enter.xml
activity_close_exit.xml
activity_open_enter.xml
activity_open_exit.xml
rename them to:
zz_moto_activity_close_enter.xml
zz_moto_activity_close_exit.xml
zz_moto_activity_open_enter.xml
zz_moto_activity_open_exit.xml
this should replace 4 of motorola files.
and continue with the tutorial

Hi adi4motion

If I am on ms2ginger 2.1 now - i must restore system+data, then boot, then devtree, then recovery? or it's enough system+data?

you should just select restore (not advanced)...and should work
Restored this nandroid from recovery... there was MIUI on the phone before... I made factory reset and cache/dalvik wipe and then restored the nandroid and got bootloop with red moto logo.
What could be wrong?
I flashed a 2.2.2 froyo kernel after the recovery and it did not help.

Don't think so... I always was on froyo... checking the bootloader now... it is 09.10 as it should be.
Now I make a fresh froyo flash with rsd lite and we will see if it works from there.

Sure, from the FeaMod thread:
FeaCore Phoenix includes:
-BFQ I/O scheduler 2 r1
-SIO I/O scheduler
-OC up to 1.8 GHz
-smartassV2 governor (ondemand is default)
-JFS and CIFS support
-tun included
-bootanimation support
-new boot sound
- I8150 GPU librarys
-cleancache

This one is the upstream vanilla clockworkmod: https://github.com/CyanogenMod/android_bootable_recovery

This is vanilla. If you install this _after_ the feamod recovery you'll notice no change because the FeaMod installs the GPU driver and a custom boot, and this recovery do not remove them.

That list is a list of Kernel features, the recovery can't have those tweaks inside,
Feacore Phoenix = Kernel
Feamod = Recovery

Right, my fault. I misunderstood things.
The differences between this and the FeaMod recovery are these:
https://github.com/manveru0/FeaMod-Recovery/commits/gingerbread/
Every manveru0 commit (like replacing sd-ext by sdcard or changing some message) isn't included in the official one. Also, this one has some upstream change that aren't included in the FeaMod recovery because manveru0 left.
Hey, thank you for this. Finally someone is working again on the CWM recovery.
I just want to ask you something about a problem which I encountered during the development of my ROM Crybernation with AROMA-INSTALLER.
Its about the colors in CWM.
The colors on the screen seems to be right, but when I take a sreenshot in CWM with DDMS I get a red picture.
In AROMA there is a blue tint in CWM. But the screenshots have the correct colors. ( See attachments below)
So amarullz the developer of AROMA-INSTALLER said that there is something wrong with the framebuffer.
I'm not that familiar with this but perhaps you have an idea what could be wrong. So you think you can solve this problem?
Also could you delete the additional "No's", like manveru0 did it?
Thank's Man Nice work
I didn't think you would do it so fast

For some reason this doesn't work with ROM Manager yet. I asked some CWM dev, and they said ROM Manager works only if the ClockworkMod is installed using it.
I'll try to play a bit with it.
I suppose "newer" FeaMod backups can still be restored with this "older" version?
It detects my internal sdcard as the external and vice versa

---Q&A---
Q: What's the difference between this rom and the stock rom?
A: Huge performance tweaks. Lag has almost entirely vanished even while keeping all the LG proprietary software and parts enabled
Q: My baseband stopped working
A: Flash a Gingerbread baseband. You weren't reading the instructions
Q: I have some random problem! What do I do?
A: A logcat would be preferred, else a description should work fine.
Q: Where's ICS? I would love CM9.
A: Go away. Or, see here.
Q: Does this rom fix ghost calls? Does it have ghost calls? What causes ghost calls? What's a baseband?
A: See here.

That's weird. It works fine for me when I flash it that way. Did you factory reset before flashing? Try wiping cache and dalvik cache before flashing TitanKernel.
Also, my dropbox public links keep getting suspended due to excess traffic... luckily I have a mirroring system in place

sorry, didn't do a factory reset. i always like to get away with it if i can

Yes definitely try the other kernels. I also hope to avoid factory resetting if I can
Kernel Question
But are you sure that the problem of Ghost Call not are in kernel ? If you use Titanic Kernel you recovery old based kernel.
LG have tell where is problem of the ghost call ?
Thanks

You must have a Gingerbread baseband installed before flashing this rom.
The kernel will be corrupt as the kernels are compiled on the latest NDK. I included TitanKernel v0.5 v21D version, however wifi and bluetooth may not work when you first flash the rom. If this happens, set up the phone as per usual then flash TitanKernel again (get it here) and it should work fine afterwards.

Bugs:
3D game data has not been integrated into the rom yet, will do in next release. In the meantime, so long as you're running the stock rom and have the 3D game data preinstalled (which it is by default), the games should work fine.
Bluetooth has been reported to be borked.

You have to flash the .fls also to update the baseband to v21E.
Haven't updated this rom in ages, but I found a little bit of time so I updated it. Most of the changes are taken from my other rom, but I added a little but of Jellybean stuff to it too. Updated a bunch of stuff as well, see the changelog for that.
It's uploading now, OTA updates should be up very shortly. OTA update is 80+MB, full rom is 400+MB. If you have installed v1.0.0 I highly recommend the OTA update over the full rom. Even the full rom agrees

The 3D apps are there, but game data is not (I think) because it may not be legal to pull it out. As long as you have v21E stock flashed before this, it should use the 3D data from the stock version.
