GGL ROM - GingerbreadGreenLens ROM (please understand that this is my 1st ROM which is based on the nandroid provided by walter79's)
Donate to him (walter79): https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=VNEELS79XLXNJ
I've created this to help Green Lens users (like myself) to get "stock" Motorola Defy+ 2.3.6 easier. Without flashing greenbreadmod, battery fix etc.
This ROM works on Red Lens also
For Red Lense users change /etc/media_profiles.xml with this:http://www.mediafire.com/?yrgm6t2xdtjgpz9 and set permissions
for proper FPS on bayer module
Why this and not CM7.2?
Well, I really love CM7.2 but on this ROM I get Faster 3D (sais Quadrant) and Better(faster) (IMHO) GPS than CM7.2.
How to install:
-Extract the GGL-ROM folder from archive
-Put the folder on sd-card in clockworkmod/backup
-Go to recovery and restore back-up
-Go to Advance restore and restore boot & devtree
-Enjoy

This ROM is based on 4.5.1-134_DFP-231 from 12. Jan. 2012 (with new lockscreen)
Contains:
- 1% battery ready, deodexed, 720p, debranded (thanks walter79)
- GreenBreadMod2 (with 4.5.1-134-DFP-139 ramdisk)(walter79)
- batteryfix(walter79)
- I really hated Motorola transition animations (except rotation). I removed them and added ICS ones.
- Widescreen Recording
- Added Reboot button
- Reduced proximity sensor delay to 150 ms
- Changed FVGA recording codec to m4v.
- Changed build.prop to display correct model MB525
- Removed task manager (it was useless anyway) Here if you want it back: http://www.mediafire.com/?cbir21289tdsq75 put it in system/app and set permissions
- Red Motorola Pulse Bootanimation
- init.d support
- Zipalign at boot
- RamOptimizer (script at boot)
- CM7 libsqlite.so (Faster I/O)
- Deblurred & Deactivated Setup (at 1st start you'll get "communicating with server" for ~1-2 minutes) (from build.prop thanks walter79 for guide)
- Default Language: en_US

It's very fast and smooth. Feedback from users also reflect this.
No bugs reported/found.
You should give it a go! I think you won't be dissapointed
Please test and feedback.
As an head's up: I don't plan to heavily customize this (I want to be closer to pure Motorola) or to release many updates
Download nandroid:http://www.mediafire.com/?xr2oggidommtuei
Great job buddy!
Do you mind telling me how you replaced the transitions with ICS ones?

there's a guide here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1342388
but it's not enough since motorola have their own animations. so in addition to this you have to make a copy of this files (you'll find them in the tutorial):
activity_close_enter.xml
activity_close_exit.xml
activity_open_enter.xml
activity_open_exit.xml
rename them to:
zz_moto_activity_close_enter.xml
zz_moto_activity_close_exit.xml
zz_moto_activity_open_enter.xml
zz_moto_activity_open_exit.xml
this should replace 4 of motorola files.
and continue with the tutorial

Hi adi4motion

If I am on ms2ginger 2.1 now - i must restore system+data, then boot, then devtree, then recovery? or it's enough system+data?

you should just select restore (not advanced)...and should work
Restored this nandroid from recovery... there was MIUI on the phone before... I made factory reset and cache/dalvik wipe and then restored the nandroid and got bootloop with red moto logo.
What could be wrong?
I flashed a 2.2.2 froyo kernel after the recovery and it did not help.

Don't think so... I always was on froyo... checking the bootloader now... it is 09.10 as it should be.
Now I make a fresh froyo flash with rsd lite and we will see if it works from there.

Here is another rom from nprussel you can test, it is still in beta stage,
there still are few graphic glitches like this(There is a fix for that now, see post 2),
the rom is very quick and stable tho, so i think it does not matter so much
Thank you nprussell for this great rom and Sanpei for your super kernel
You should look att the original thread for some of bugs and fixes.

MD5: b47d69e99f156512c66e77e888cd81f8
Changed from original:
Removed MmsZap, it probably eated battery and mms are working ok now by the way, so it is not needed.
In v02 new apps + dalvik 2 sd
In v02a old plain a2sd
WIFI,BT works. GPS works for me, please report. CAMERA works like in others.
Added Astro, Mount USB, Market Enabler, Quick System Info... my own ringtone
About the muting ringtone while ringing, you should turn of "quiet on pickup" in settings to fix this.
I noticed that pictures are shown in GMail
After install you are gonna see a "save scene" message,
to get rid of it simply go to "helicopter or what its name" view by pressing two times home button.
It is a bug caused by speed tweaks nprussel made to the rom, you are gonna see this screen just once.
For a better experience this is recomended (at least the first 5 steps)

2. FULL WIPE (Might work without if coming from Villain 4.0 Beta
3. Flash the ROM
4. Follow the setup wizard

strange man, it takes some time to install tho, but it installed ok by me.
check when you make wipe ext, that it not say "make wit adb" or something like that, if it is so, try until it is ok.
Here is a link to Villain 4.0 beta2 v01
the difference is that, v01 has A2SD without dalvik and the MmsZap is still there. :/
Ok Dude, works fine now!

OK, here's my first real contribution to the Android community... and I owe all credit to the amazing cooks out here...
I take no credit for anything, other than the fact that I kanged Paul's, Pershoot's, Cyangen's, intersectRaven's, Ivan Dimkovic's and Termana's work...
PLEASE READ THIS WHOLE POST BEFORE DOWNLOADING AND FLASHING. I SUGGEST U READ THE POSTS OF THE ORIGINAL KERNEL AUTHORS AS WELL.
This is a mod of the Desire Camera R2 port by Paul.
I just pushed the changes to various kernel mods including the stock CM506 kernel.
This should work on any stock version of CyanogenMod... tested on CM 5.0.5.x & CM 5.0.6... These mods should work with other ROMs as well, but I have not tested any. Try at your own risk.
Instructions:
1. Pop the zip file onto your SD card.
2. Reboot into Amon RAs recovery.
3. Do a nandroid backup [VERY IMPORTANT IN CASE YOU FACE SOME PROBLEMS!].
4. Select "Flash zip from SD" and select this zip.
5. Reboot.
Note:
This will flash a modified Pershoot's OC/UV kernel boot.img and replace the camera app. Flashing the boot.img is necessary since this mod requires a change in init.rc. Flashing another boot.img will cause the Desire camera to FC. If you want to flash another kernel, flash the zImage and push the wlan ko. Please use at your own risk (but, no this will not brick your phone).
Known Issues:
You might encounter FCs if you use NexTheme Goodies add-on.
Update (4/26):
Using Pershoot's UC/OV & UC/OV Xtra kernel mods
Using intersect Raven's AVS kernel mods
Using Ivan Dimkovic's AVS & AVS OC kernel mods

Reflashed the Kernal update and it works now...I had been using CameraZoom, but think I'm going to uninstall it now as I never really used the plugins.
Thanks!
It works Thank You
Um nevermind... I take back what I said about the fact that it's working properly... it actually isn't.
The camera occasionally closes on me. Sometimes it also restarted my phone when I try to open it too.
Why there is a need to install it together with boot image ? Isn't it just a regular system application with additional libraries ?
If this is a case, is it possible to remove the boot image from the package - this way it can be used by anyone who want to run a different kernel and it won't be any need to reflash the kernel after installing this?

You should probably mention that by using this, one also overwrites the current kernel.. No good if you use another kernel that the one supplied with this .zip.

Actually, this has changes in init.rc (to initialise the htc framework) which can only be changed by flashing the boot image. So no, there's no way to get it working without flashing the boot

yes, you can download unrevoked 3.21 which root hboot 0.93 onwards, no slcd black screen issue. i encountered black slcd on my desire yesterday. lol.
after which you can flash any roms via the recovery.
not really sure if goldcard is needed. i made a goldcard from the given 2gb microsd, not even sure it is done properly. it shows 1.3gb+ space.

U do not need goldcard if you are using unrevoked. I used the goldcard for my first Desire (amoled) and used only unrevoked for my 2nd Desire (slcd).
IMO, using unrevoked was much easier.
After u have root your Desire,
1. install ROM Manager from the Market.
2. Download any of the ROM that interest you and save to your sdcard.
3. Use ROM Manager(create ext3 if needed) and reboot into recovery
4. DO A NANDROID BACKUP then install ROM from sdcard. You can restore from backup if there is anything wrong
5. Reboot once done and please wait, as the new ROM requires to build the necessary cache.
Hope this help

I already download the unrevoked recovery flash tool and the HBOOT drivers for windows. from the unrevoked webpage, it says "We recommend installing the custom recovery image for all users who want rooted phones." where to get the custom recovery image?
After rooting, is my desire still on the same WWE Asia 2.2 OTA rom but with root enabled?
How do I unroot and get back my stock rom if need to seek for warranty at HTC?
Thread restored due to application of correct credit and updating ROM accordingly.
good to be back. after someone thinks that adding comment and if-else statement in a commonly used script make the script his. all people that i credited are in the first post (and deservely so).
anyway, will post an update to this rom soon.
Thank you very much.
I am so love the official roms.only because i love stable.
And now i found your rom.thank you for your work.
But when i flash it,I found, that you have some change. and iam sorry that i don't like it much.
Iam not means that is not good.only because i want a pure experiense.
also i can remove apks that was not from official roms.but i think you have some changes that i did't found .
so,i am think that:are you will post some roms that base on official rom,and only add "A2SD+ and ROOT"? Of course remove HBOOT and RECOVERY.
Can you do this for me? For someone like rom i say? I hope you can anderstand what i say.
Big sorry for my english.
THIS THREAD IS OUTDATED. DO NOT USE. LOOK FOR OTHER MIUI ROMS AVAILABLE ON DEVELOPMENT FORUM.
As usual I won't hold any responsibility to any damages it may cause to your phone.
Thanks to Endless7 for research on this subject. Great work!
Thanks to dangpzanco and walter79 for support and ideas.
This is a simplified method of installing MIUI into Milestone2 devices. This ROM is based on Defy's WajkIUI 1.8.12 - MULTiLanguage. It's still a experimental port so not everything is working fine. With this package you DON'T need to flash any SBF into your phone.
Requirements:
- Froyo or GB rooted phone.
- CWM Recovery 3.0+. You can get it here.
Installation:
- Download update.zip to your sdcard.
- Boot into CWM Recovery
- Apply update.zip
- Wipe data/cache/dalvik cache/battery stats
- Reboot.
Notes:
- Update-scrip now backs up Swype during installation. If you are just updating your MIUI version you may not get Swype. In this case you must manually copy /system/app/Swype.apk and /system/lib/libSwypeCore.so. I won't include these files in my package as they're copyrighted and I don't have permission to distribute them.
Working:
1. Compass.
2. Sensors.
3. LED.
4. CWM Recovery
5. Device Keyboard
6. Keyboard Backlight
7. CPU Frequencies in Bootmenu
8. USB mounting
Not working:
1. Virtual keyboard half size (but now we have Swype)
2. ALT LOCK key from keyboard ( you can double press ALT instead of ALT LOCK )
3. Media HW play, only support .MP4 hardware decoding
4. Buggy message about moving data to sdcard in every boot.
FOR THE ONES HAVING PROBLEMS WITH GSM RADIO:
1. Search for Milestone2 baseband switcher app. If it doesn't work try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1182050
Changelog:
20-08-2011:
- Fixed MIUI Torch/Light sensor/Backlight bugs from 19-08-2011 update.
19-08-2011:
- Fixed camera screen upside down
- Fixed USB mounting
- Added Swype Backup&Restore during installation
18-08-2011:
- Fixed CPU Frequencies on Bootmenu
- Fixed keyboard backlight and light sensor
- New bootanimation
Please, report any problems you found so I and the other may try to fix it.
Thanks

Logo is CG42.smg. This flashes chinese boot.img, recovery.img and devtree.img.
And you can conserve red logo cg42.smg and use this rom?
Nice!
I'll try it out.
does this version include miui launcher?
or shall we flashthis seperate?

Yeps, MIUI Launcher
whats the fun of having MIUI with LauncherPro? The very first thing I did was to restore original Launcher.

I am using Red Logo. But don't worry, I included the red logo in my ROM
Hey r2beta0
What is the difference b/w this and the one posted by Endless7?? The reason I'm asking is that I wasn't able to boot that one. I was not even able to get to stock recovery afterwards.

Probably because you didn't flash the fixed sbf correctly. My package is made from the same source as endless7, but I've included all images that needs flashing on the update.zip so you don't need to flash anything with rsd lite.

My MIUI uses baseband files from Brazil 2.2 SBF. You may try Milestone2 baseband switcher app.
No luck for me with the GSM signal. This is pretty strange. Because under system-> mobile network settings, it shows my operator correctly but still there is no signal.
Anything you can suggest??

I have tried that. I get the signal every now and then. But after a while it drops.
I have heard that there are different radios (for GSM) available for CM7. So could it be that I need to use some different radio (if such a thing exists for Defy CM7)??
I mean a friend having similar issues with CM7 on Galaxy S told me.
Hey I solved my problem myself. I replaced all files in etc/motorola/bp_nvm_default/ in the MIUI ROM with the ones from w0ndersp00n's Deblurred GB (since I had no signal issues with it) and changed permissions of all files to rw-r--r--, now it works perfectly. No signal drops.
Got the idea from Defy section. Following post.

Thanks again r2beta0!!

Just update the fix for keyboard backlight. Maybe you should take a look
I have seen it and have changed the value of first two rows to 255. Its too bright right now to notice it. Will update, if it works.

so basically, once i flashyour update zip, are there any fixes or files to flash myself, and if so which ones? thanks!

Any progress regarding SD card mounting through USB cable??
So, after hovering over CM nightlies for as long as I can remember, I guess, I've reached a point where I want things to just work. And DFP-231, for the first time pleasantly surprised me! So, sticking as close to stock as possible while having all the goodies, here - PVL-StockPlus.

Version 2: PVL-StockPlus-v2.zip [194 MB]
Version 1: PVL-StockPlus-v1.zip [191 MB]
Note: If you're installing it on a Defy (not Defy+), you need to only restore "system" using "Advanced Restore", and flash 4.5.3-109-DHT Kernel from here - http://ge.tt/969Z8xC/v/3.
Updates:
Note: All the updates below are already integrated into Version 2. You don't have to download any of these below.
ResponsivenessUpdate.zip [156Kb] (Will work on any ROM with init.d support - Tweaks to ramscript)
MP4VideoUpdate.zip [158Kb] - VGA+ resolution videos including 720p now use MP4 containers. (Info: 720p uses generic MPEG4 Part-2 encoding while others use H264 (Part-10 AVC) as frame-rate with 720p using H264 is too low, although it provides better quality. Edit /system/build.prop if you wish to change that.)

How to Install:
1. Root your Phone and Install Bootmenu (SndInitDefy_2.0.apk)
2. Extract the downloaded file to the SD card at: /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup
3. Copy all the update zip files, if any, anywhere into your SD card.
4. Reboot

8. Wipe data (Optional but recommended) and cache (Strictly required).
9. Reboot
If you're on a Green Lens Defy, you should probably wait for walter79's MSGinger. While I intend to focus only on the Defy Plus and Red Lens Defy, walter's ROMs provide a wide range of compatibility.
Change Log:
Version 2 - 18th April 2012:
Fix: zipalign executable missing.
Fix: Panorama mode build.prop typo (Thanks to walter79)
Number of Multi-touch points can be edited in /system/build.prop
Button backlight can now be edited in /system/build.prop
Added Deep Sleep support. (Extends your battery life significantly)
Volume Buttons Wake Support.
Dalvik Tweaks.
Fully De-Odexed.
Added Google Play Music.
Integrated all of v1's updates.
More build.prop tweaks.
For those who share my taste and prefer simplicity, enjoy. Others, no one's stoping you either.

You may have to find the patch for battery first which works with DFP-231. Other than that, I don't think there should be any problem.
I only have a Defy Plus. So, can't test it.
Is downgrade possible?? I don't wanna be stuck on gingerbread... and this looks like a full sbf stuff :/

Extract, copy this folder into the clockworkmod backup folder.
Restore backup like anyother back up.
If you do not understand any of the above, please refer to the Defy All-In-One Guide, or search the forums for how to install custom ROMs for defy before proceeding.

Well, I don't see why its not possible when you can extract the image, root it manually, create the nandroid of that, and then flashing it? Its only not possible when you're stuck get stuck on an unrooted phone loosing the ability to flash custom ROMs.

Actually, I want that as well. Will try to add it sometime when I'm free.
PS: Does WinAMP, or DoubleTwist have that option? I don't remember.
Added Responsiveness Update.
Tweaked ramscript values for much better responsiveness, especially on a long running phone.
PS: This update will work with any ROM (say MSGinger) with init.d support.
I have a defy and it has a 1700 mh battery in it, similar to defy+, If I install this ROM will I still need the battery patch for defy???
Currently using walter's ROM which charges battery to 100% but if I use other ROM like stock froyo It only charges to 83% and on CM9 gets doesnt show any battery change at all.
Im running CM7.2
Can i restore nandroid without flashing to stock sbf first?
