See I really want to but it will take ages as I can't select all to save to sim.

Just download a good sim manager

No way. One phone number per contact? I can't afford to clutter up my contact list like that. My Android device syncs up to Google just fine, thanks.

Just got a Skyrocket today, and I noticed that there is no "save new contact to sim" option. On my old captivate, you could save to phone, google, or sim, but on my skyrocket there is just phone and google. And I cannot display from sim either. Does anyone know if there are any roms that add these options?
And if any Mods could move this into the Q&A section, it would be most appreciated. Sorry and thanks.
Download copy to sim from the market.

You know you can inport/export contacts to the sd card right?
google contacts the best! You have 120 post count so may be next time watch out??
Does copy to sim allow me to display from sim though? And I like keeping all my contacts on my sim so I can switch phones easily.
Copy to sim is not working - will not delete sim contacts, so when i want to move all phone to sim, there will be doubles, I will not have enough room, etc. Even using the dialer app with sim management, it will say it deleted them but when i refresh they are still there. I just want to be able to take new numbers and save them easily to my sim card. ???
what other phone do you swap with?
if its another android, google is still the best bet
if its an iPhone.....WHY?
if its a WP7, i congratulate you on being one of the 30 people that bought one. <j/k, wp7 is a perfectly viable option for my mother...
well if anyone has a real answer i would like to know as well. i switch phones regularly (from skyrocket to non-android) for work and not being able to easily manage sim contacts is pretty annoying.
so other then sarcastic remarks if someone knows a work around I would appreciate an answer as well, thanks

Have you considered backing them up/exporting from Google on a PC?

I think I have a trade deal that went south..
The phone seems tampered with and I need someone to take a pic of what the phone looks like under the rear cover. I see void stickers, but it seems like some are missing and the phone has been tampered with.
I just need a pic to very that it has been tampered with.
Kinda got my hands full, at the moment, so no pic, but there's only one void decal under my cover on the screw in the top right corner. T-Mobile US HOS

Here dude (see pic)...and you know the only part that comes off is the top where the camera lens is, right? Battery is non-removable so the rest of the back doesn't come off (unless you're doing some SERIOUS surgery...)
Hope this helps...and that you can go get your money back.

UMMM, DUDE are you nuts, the last thing you wanted to post is the IMEI number of your device....
DELETE this some one for his sake....
Edit, over 300 views, it's too late but you probably wanna remove this anyways but for future reference you never post your IMEI, anyone can use your IMEI to gain access to your account and network, calls, texts, mms.... you won't be happy.

That's my first One S---it's broken, never to be used again..it's not associated with any account either, and there's not a working SIM in it or anything. Duly noted tho.

Bottomline - treat your IMEI like you treat your SSN. NEVER GIVE IT OUT...
Drives me nuts that when I dial a number without the area code it will not pull the name from my contact list. I've never had this problem with any other phone. Is there any way to get my contacts to show when dialing the number without the area code?

I dont remember my captivate being like that and my inspire had a new rom on it the day I brought it home. I always thought it was sense that caused this but maybe I'm wrong.

you may be right. It's been a long time since I used a Touchwiz phone.
This may be a bit picky, but there I have found no way to set the default location a new contact is added to. By default, contacts are saved to the phone, but I use Gmail. I never remember to change when I'm trying to get all these girls numbers (yeah right) so it would be nice to have the default save to Gmail.
If anyone has an idea let me know!

You can hit menu, settings, manage contacts, then copy, and choose to google.

Thanks. Yeah I used that, but my problem is remembering that they even got saved in the wrong spot. I'm going to clear data one day and lose numbers.
I just want the default option in a new contact to save to Gmail. My Inspire on Sense 3.5 had the option.

Hi Buddy,
Mine always save to Gmail.
Pretty sure this will do it.
When you're in people click phone book in the top left and only select Google.
Otherwise just remember to select Google when you create the contact - mine seems to default to Google though.
**Edit** I realise that is just what displays in the phonebook so it probably doesn't make a difference.

Actually I've noticed this too and I'd much prefer to save to Gmail then the phone. How do I do that?

Ive lost tons of numbers because of this. none of my other android phones did this. they always defaulted to google.

Yup. I got a number at a bar the other night and obviously after a couple drinks I couldn't remember to select Gmail. My old Inspire had an option to select the default save to
Glad I'm not the only one annoyed by this. Wish I was smart enough to be able to do it myself, but I hope someone can work up a fix.

Hey Buddy,
I know this sounds like BS but what I said earlier actually works for me - I actually tested it this time... haha
When I tick phone whilst google is selected then back out of it or hit phonebook again it reloads the people view then when I hit add phone is now default location.
Then I unticked phone hit back or phonebook again - people reloaded again and when I went into add Google was the default.

didnt work for me. even with phone unticked and contacts not showing for phone, only google, i add a new contact and it still goes to phone. how do you get it from phone in to google? wen i try to import from phone it says it cant find a vcard on phone.
Edit: figured out how to copy phone contacts to google, was mentioned earlier.... but you have to copy them all! you cant choose what you want. This is some messed up stuff. I think i'll try the aosp contacts instead.

I know right. This is a pretty big damn bug if you ask me. Probably one of the biggest if you rely on dependable contacts and phone numbers. It wouldn't be so bad for the everyday user but we are constantly formatting our phones. It was never never ever never an issue before. Everything was saved n Google period. Why do we even need separate sim and phone contacts? I wonder if it has something to do with ATT contacts app. Has anyone called ATTor HTC?

I bet you just hit the nail on the head about the AT&T contacts. If you have android there is absolutely NO reason not to sync with gmail. We shouldn't have to make sure we're choosing it every effen time.

This issue is also on the international version as well so it's most likely some stupid oversight on htc's part. Tried looking through some files in apk to see if it may be an easy switch but have not found anything yet but will keep looking

Thank you very much. Good to know you are trying.
You are not picky buddy. It is annoying.
Good day everyone.
Can anyone recommend a reliable back up tool? for backing up contacts on my phone? cause I've got 2 bootloops altogether (once because I unlocked my bootloader, the second was for God knows what) it's a pain in the ass to get back all my contacts so I'm kindly asking, can someone help me out here?

Hey i think it's better to use moborobo it's a software that u install on your pc. then connect your phone with usb debugging on then press backup. meanwhile u can do much more with that software and i think its better than any other app that u can install on your device coz u've got the backup on your pc that mean even if u lose your phone! U have your backup and u can restore it on any other android device
Sent from my C2104 using Tapatalk
You can export them to the SIM/SD card, or even better sync them to your Google account-this is what I do, so every time I reset the phone I just connect my account and it automatically syncs all contacts with all of their additional details e.g. emails, nicknames etc...
I use Super Backup and create backup regularly to SD card. Besides contacts, I also do backup of SMS, call log, calendar etc. It does what it says.
