Contacts backup? - Sony Xperia L

Good day everyone.
Can anyone recommend a reliable back up tool? for backing up contacts on my phone? cause I've got 2 bootloops altogether (once because I unlocked my bootloader, the second was for God knows what) it's a pain in the ass to get back all my contacts so I'm kindly asking, can someone help me out here?

Hey i think it's better to use moborobo it's a software that u install on your pc. then connect your phone with usb debugging on then press backup. meanwhile u can do much more with that software and i think its better than any other app that u can install on your device coz u've got the backup on your pc that mean even if u lose your phone! U have your backup and u can restore it on any other android device

You can export them to the SIM/SD card, or even better sync them to your Google account-this is what I do, so every time I reset the phone I just connect my account and it automatically syncs all contacts with all of their additional details e.g. emails, nicknames etc...

I use Super Backup and create backup regularly to SD card. Besides contacts, I also do backup of SMS, call log, calendar etc. It does what it says.

No way. One phone number per contact? I can't afford to clutter up my contact list like that. My Android device syncs up to Google just fine, thanks.

tracking software are useless

I lost my phone last week and it was found today because the "finder/thief" return the phone to my service provider after I requested the IMEI to be blocked.
After I got my phone, everything has already been factory reset by the "finder/thief", the SD was missing, we know who probably took it. No wonder whereismydroid and Plan B apps never worked, because they are absolutely useless. All thieves have to do is take the battery and sim card out, go home, factory reset with ODIN or something, all your information and those so called tracking Apps are gone, and Plan B can NOT be installed remotely because your gmail is no longer signed into your phone.
So IMO these apps are useless.
user installed apps? yea they are. its why i flash cerberus as a system app (survives a factory reset). i dont have a pin lock or anything of teh sort to make teh theif want to reset. instead im quite alright with him opening it up and calling/texting whomever he wants cuz ill be tracking him the whole time. chances are the guy who buste dteh window of yoru car to get the phone doesnt know to take teh device get it into download mode and use odin to wipe out the stuff i installed

What if the thief flash your phone with his own rom using ODIN?

The is something you have to ask the thieves.
My phone was definitely flashed after I lost it. The rom is different from the one I had.

Nowadays you really don't have to be a tech wizard to do this stuff. Programming isn't really clicking around and dropping files onto SD card.

Whoa!!
I'm no cop but the OP didn't say how it was stolen but shabby knew that it was taken out your car by breaking the window...
Yes im pointing fingers!! BUT.. Im just kidding .
I actually want to thank shabby for his comment.
I've been wondering if theres an app like the one he mentioned that can be installed and track the phone without being deleted.
I didn't know where to look but now i have a name so i can do my research.
Im not too technical with android but my goal is to have a phone with great security like firewalls blockers and what not.
Yeah cerberus is the best one.

[Q] Changing Roms / updating

Hello friends,
Just a quick question about updating roms.
Is there an easy way to save all my apps and homescreen configs where and what size widgets, icons and what ever else I have changed. Including all the settings I may have changed.
I only ask cause I see many roms have nightly builds available, but I think trying to use these and setting everything up again would drive me crazy. But all info I read says I need wipe data and caches and reflash Gapps everytime I change roms or update.
If there is no easy way to save all my preferances, do any frequent rom flashers have any advice?
Also as a sort of side note the versions of AOKP i got from this site is labeled OTA (no idea what that stands for) but the ones on aokp.co are labeled nightly and milestone. Anyone know the differneces? Should I be running OTA over the nightlies or Milestones?
Thank you,
GK

Seems wrong to steal from a developer that asks for a little bit of money for his most likely long hours of work that in turn makes my life much easier.
Also it was 5 dollars if you can afford a phone I am pretty sure you can afford an app that is going to help you back up, sync and restore your apps and data.
Also is this not a forum for developers?

[Q] Please help, assaulted while recording

There was this guy vandalizing some stuff in my street. I told him to stop while recording video of the event. He forced me on the ground bruising my neck and damaging my teeth, let me go when I promised to delete the video. How can I recover the video? Any help is very much appreciated.
You wouldn't happen to have your photos/videos back up to Google do you? That's terrible that happened to you I'm sorry.

I'm not sure it'd work for you but you could try downloading Dumpster from Google play. The only thing is idk if it recovers deleted files or it recovers files deleted after the app is installed.

For all of you wanting to help:
I'm going to go to sleep now, it's 06:30 am over here. If your want to help catch this bastard, reply to this thread with a way to recover deleted videos from a Nexus 5.
I'm sure he was just a dumb kid, as he let me go after deleting the video + some dumb tutorials i shot. I think it would be the best thing to let him know not to do stuff like this again.
Thank you XDA, you're the only place to turn to after paying 1$ a minute trying to reach google, I got more response from you compared to a multi billion dollar company.

Maybe you can email google and see what they can do in recovering data.
At least they would tell you if that sector has been overwritten or not.

You can try this method. I used it on my galaxy nexus, but don't see why it wouldn't work on the nexus 5. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1994705
[GUIDE] Internal Memory Data Recovery - Yes We Can!
sent from my HAMMERHEAD neXus
The first thing to do would be to STOP USING THE PHONE. The more you use it, the higher the chance of the data being overwritten and thus unrecoverable. Remember, "deleting" something only marks it as available on the disk/flash memory.
http://www.icare-recovery.com/free/android-data-recovery-freeware.html
As above, if you carry on using the phone there's a chance you might write over the deleted file, any chance of recovery then becomes much more difficult, maybe even impossible. Try some of the software that's been mentioned above, if the files not been overwritten you should have a good chance of recovery.

correct as the past few posts say if you havnt overwritten that area of your internal storage where the video was saved you should no problem using some recovery tools to get the deleted information. I work as a security analyst doing forensics and e-discovery. I recommend the program r-studio to recovery deleted information. you will have to pay for it unless you can find a free copy on the internet.. lol but you can also get a trial of it which will let you recovery files smaller than like 1mb which might not help you but you can at least use the trial to determine if the video is recoverable.
You can also use diskdigger. The free version should do what you need it to
Sent from my One Xl using xda premium
Thank all of you for your help. I tried several tools, with varying results.
Sadly I can't seem to get anything watchable back. I got a couple of bruises and my jaw still kinda hurts, but it's nothing permanent.
I got an app that can undo removal of photos and videos for the next time something like this happens, also I should be more carefull not to put myself in harms way again. People are unpredictable.

First, I don't think this belongs in the development area. Next, there is NO WAY to get your stuff back unless you were rooted, already had a backup, SD card or idk. A factory reset wipes all internal storage, including your personal data. Sorry...
The lesson is to use something like Google Photos or even Samsung Backup.
If the photos were on the sdcard AND the card has not been used in the meantime, you can possibly recover some files using R-Studio ($$) or similar free software (testdisk, zero recovery).
If the data was on the internal memory AND you haven't overwritten it by using the phone you can send it to a recovery company for $$$. There is a channel on youtube called HDD Recovery Services where they show how they achieve this.
Up the phone is not necessarily the best place for your tobacco...
How do you 'accidentally' reset your phone?
It asks if you are sure multiple times, and explains what is about to happen first

lol true, but what did they think they were saying "next, next, yes, yes, next. done" to? It's in a completely separate part of the settings to anything else
Root the phone, try DiskDigger from the PlayStore.
