I only have it for the welcome head..the stock splash is dependant on your firmware 6.1 or 6.5..custom rom or stock rom.

Thank you wez89.
I am thinking how can I convert this into splash screen or .CAB file to install it in my TD2. Which RUU should I use if it needs to? Do I have to HSPL?
I have upgraded my stock ROM to 2.53.707.4 (76952) WWE. Stock SPL 2.51.
Where can I find Stock SPL 2.51 if I want to re-flash it again?

For the initial boot screen, you have to flash with RUU.
Process is .bmp=> .nb => .nbh => flash w/ Topaz RUU.exe
You would need HSPL, the stock 2.51 should be availble now in the HSPL thread.

I would like also to change the first rom boot screen and found here; http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=431161
the tools to convert the bmp=> .nb => .nbh.
BUT this tools is for VGA devices (640x480) like can see on NBHUtil
Please, do you know any link where i can find maybe something more updated?

Here's what you need to do.
1. Find any picture and change it to 480x800 24 bit.bmp and rename it to 1.bmp. Right click on properties and make sure the file size is 1,152,054 bits (very important)
2. Download Splash.zip and extract to where ever you like.
3. Place 1.bmp into the same folder.
4. Run Go.bat (this converts the .bmp to .nbh) and follow prompts (let it complete the conversion)
5. You have now created a new 1.nbh file which you can rename to anything you like
6. From here you can flash the .nbh file just like a ROM .nbh;
a. Rename to TOPAIMG.nbh and place file in the root of your storage card and flash from Bootloader or....
b. Copy Topaz RUU and .nbh file to their own folder. sync your phone to your PC and run the RUU.exe.
ENJOY!
**Notes: MAKE SURE YOU HAVE INSTALLED HSPL FIRST!!!
This will not wipe your device data.
This covers the bottom 100 pixels(issue on previous versions)
I am not responsible for damages, but have tested and flashed to verify it works.
...and no I can't make it into a cab file for you...

Customized Splash Screen success on new ROMs!

The old way to change your 1st splash screen uses the awizard prog or the splash_bmp_to_wizard prog. It was working before on the older ROMs.
Thanx to jesterz, mwiberg & lvsw & others, we now have many new ROMs to choose from. Unfortunately, the above method to change the 1st splash screen no longer works on these new ROMs. It always gives the ItWriteDisk error.
After crawling through the Wizard forums, I discovered they have found a way. Can't really remember the threads (there were several of them). For those who want to change their splash, just download this file: ftp://xda:[email protected]/Wizard/Splash_images/SplashScreenStuff.zip and follow the instructions included to the letter.
Warning: some hex editing is involved.
- all credits to the guys over at the Wizard forum.
PS: to change your 2nd splash, it is a simple matter of saving your image as a 240x320 png file, renaming it as welcomehead.96.png and copying into the windows folder of your device.
Good luck!
Be carefull NOT to use the ROM upgrade util in that zip, it for the Wizard, NOT the prophet.
get it from a Prophet ROM upgrade.
Enjoy !

Hi, I can confirm this works. I used this download as the base for the splash rom and followed the instructions in the download from the first post.

P.S. my rom is RUU_Prophet_220734_2207114_024721_QTEK_WWE_Ship (G4) with Ext Rom unlocked and writable

Yes, the upgrade utility in the zip file is for the Wizard. So what I did was to use the upgrade utility for the Prophet instead. Use the G3 or G4 version depending on your device.
There should be the following files:
enterbootloader.exe
nk.nbf (your created splash imge)
romupdateutility.exe (G3 or G4 version depending on your device)
ruugetinfo.exe
ruuresource.dll
Somehow for me, the romupdateutility-novendor doesn't work. So to get the romupdateutility for my device, I extracted it from a full ROM such as RUU-Prophet-G3-AKU2.2-2.20-2.47.21-Jester-b1
Hope this clarifies things a bit

The method in that thread is similar to my 1st post. Maybe the utilities they used are different. All the steps prior to the flash are the same. They are for converting a bmp file to a nb file and then to a nk.nbf to be used for flashing. It should work on the Prophet PROVIDED you use the prophet update utility (not the Wizard's) to flash.

Using that file will give you the HTC black logo. The steps I mentioned will allow you to use any customized image...
Could somebody please post an image of the HTC Black logo to see what it looks like before I try the standard update (i.e. from the FTP server & without using the HEX edit thingie...)?
Thanx!
The Black HTC Logo's

1. The White HTC logo will be replaced by a black image (nothing on it)
2. The Second Splash Screen will be replaced by a nice HTC Logo.

Pardon the newbie question, but how does one extract the RUU (and the other 4 files) from the full ROM? I have Jester's G3 r1 file but it's an exe, not a zip. Is there a site from where I can get the latest Prophet G3 RUU package?

Let's see if I remember this correctly:
1) double-click your .exe file -> it should start up the ROM update window as normal.
2) Go to windows/temp folder. You should see the files that the exe file extracted. (if you cannot find it, do a search for *.nbf or one of the other files - the file would be in the same directory). Maybe it is in documents and settings/user/local settings/temp in Win XP. I can't remember exactly as I'm on Vista now.
3) copy the RUU file to a separate folder.
There you have it.... unless I miss something.
You were right, Putra, it was the D&S\...\Temp folder. Thanks!!!

If u have winrar installed on PC, then just right click on any exe, and u will get extract options. Extract to any folder as u want, and get all files inside that exe.

well i had read the forum instructions and for change boot and welcom screen.
but something is wrong with the typho5. its suppose to extract nb 9200000 files but the application starts without extracting nobthing.
i would like to change the welcome screen from the PDAMobiz to some thing personal. i follow instruction but they dont fit the results i get.
any idea?
thanks to all
specially to the guys in PDAMobiz, who made the best of the best Rom
I want too to make a personal bootscreen...if someone can help us with a little tutorial, we are waiting..thx
Try this
The pdf manual in this thread has a section on updating boot screen and all the tools required to do it are included too.
I do not suggest everybody trys to get into the ROM cooking that is also described, but the splash screen section is fairly straitforward

first, with this tool you can create your own ROM (customized)...and also splash screens...see the manual pdf

well to make it easy to understand where we stand this is the only file we must change. but there is a problem. the original file is read only and can not be replaced nor rename or moved. not with total comander , not even unlock extended rom. after a small research i found that the file is integrated with in the original ROM not the extended.
so i am looking for a tool to delete/install files into the ROM when present on the device.
it sims that that cannot be done. we must dump the present rom, sort of cook it on our PC than re- install it with changes done.
at the same time since most of us are very happy with the ROM as is , but want to personal it littel bit, its worth a dedicated tool.
i will look into it. if i find a way i will post it here.
thanks for the great job of the PDAMobize last version .
good tool and very stable
You do not need to look into it!!!!
Read the previous two posts and look at the pdf manual in the download - it describes the tools you need to change you images (without cooking a complete rom)
And it doesnt need a hard reset either!

CustomRUU for Kaiser

By popular demand I've created HTC Kaiser CustomRUU, it is basically the same as the HTC RUU, but packed in one single exe file and slightly patched to perform a 'task 32' instead of a 'task 28' after flashing an NBH, so it will not format your device if you just flash a radio or a Splash screen.
Note: This CustomRUU will not allow you to flash unsigned files unless you have HardSPL installed, it will not push SSPL.
Instructions as always: Drop the NBH file of your choice in the same folder as CustomRUU and start flashing
Recommended tools for handling NBH files:
NBHextract - Extract contents from NBH files
htc rom tool - Repack NBH files from *.nb files
Enjoy

Invalid applciation ?
Hello,
May be obvious ...
Why do I get and invalid pocket pc application when trying to run the kaiserCustomRUU.exe on my kaiser ?
Edit my-stupid-self : it runs from the PC
I am using Duttys 6.1 beta rom and I have flashed my device using KAIS_Radinly_1.64.08.21_CustomRUU and now the device just sits there at the HTC screen. Of course in this state I can't flash the old radio back as it isn't getting into the main part of the OS to sync. I have tried hard resetting and that takes me to the set up pages but then it takes me back to the HTC locked page again.
Is there anyway to get it back?
I am a bit worried that I have bricked it.
yeah guy above me im new here todays my 3rd day but ive picked up a few tips and tricks while STILL trying to unlock my phone "can somebody please help me"
anyway try holding the camera button while soft reseting your phone the tri color screen should pop up the try installing the same rom or different one or you can just Hard spl o something like that PLZ someone correct me if im wrong i did say im new but just tryin to help
Nevermind, please delete this post.
XP SP3?
Has anyone tried flashing on a Windows XP SP3 ?

Hi pof.
This is a great idea and I thank you for the instructions but I got to #6 and am so new to ROM building(virgin, in fact ) that I must ask....
In the htc rom tool do I leave all fields blank except for the splash screen entry? And where do I enter that? I assume that I type splash.nb into the splash1 field.
Else, do I fill in all of the fields such as country ID, version, IPL?
many thanks.

Thanks
thanks a lot man

Use Resco Explorer, copy, paste and replace the welcomehead.96.png in folder Windows, make a soft reset.
So, this will be the correct tool to use to format images for the Titan?

Optical Illusion Splash Screens
Some optical illusions:
Animated?
Since the image is in .png format is it safe to assume that we can NOT load an animated splash screen??.. Also does flashing via the steps in the first post accomplishes the same as replacing the welcomhead.96.png manually??
Thank you..
jadehawk: you are correct that the welcomehead.96.png is non-animated, if you create an animated .gif and rename it to .png it may work in some programs that read inside the file for the relevant code to know how to display it but most programs including the wm6 bootup hook will not display it how it should so don't bother
Just to clarify that the original post by pof is "THE ONLY WAY" at present to replace the splash screen on initial boot of the phone, the welcomehead.96.png usage is on windows boot (some people have a 3rd animated .gif in between the 2, but this doesn't work on all models even with the registry entries in place, i have tried on my T-Mobile).
hope that helps.
Russ
Thank you
Great thank you for clearing that out.. for now I am just happy replacing the animated.gif file in the windows folder with something other than the HTC animated one.. jadehawk: you are correct that the welcomehead.96.png is non-animated, if you create an animated .gif and rename it to .png it may work in some programs that read inside the file for the relevant code to know how to display it but most programs including the wm6 bootup hook will not display it how it should so don't bother

Cook your splash screen

Btw, this is where I got the ability to cook my splash screen on my ROMs. You know the first bootscreen.
Here.
I don't speak Vietnamese, but it's pretty easy to figure out. If you don't understand me, tell me and I'll write a walkthrough. The pictures tell it all, though.
EDIT:
Things you need:
-Thay Doi_SplashScreen.
-NBH_Tool_v1.1.
-HTC_ROM_Tool.
Create a BMP or JPG that's 240x320.
Run Chạy Tool Replace SplashScreen.exe
Click Load Bitmap and choose your file.
Click Update Splash.
It will create the needed files where the BMP/JPG is currently stored.
Take the ruu_signed.nbh and use NBH_Tool_v1.1 to extract the PrimarySplash.nb that you can use with your ROM.
you should probably type it up anyway. hah
Thanks for the link, Ivan
Can someone upload the files, I cant read the site so I cant make a log in lol.
Thx

Thanks Ttran!! I knew someone would step in and help me in my time of laziness.
Dumb Question
Okay, this is probably a dumb question.
I followed your instructions to the letter -- got the PrimarySplash.nb file.
My questions is Now what do I do to flash it to the phone. Go back to step 1?
Please Advise
Thanks

lol,
Now that's going to be another post... How to install your newly created splash screen.
=============================
Download
This file will contain step on how to create a nbh file. Just follow the steps and only include your PrimarySplash.nb file and not the rom.
Then flash it as you would with a rom.
Good luck,

Okay got it. Will try it. Thanks.
by the way, thanks so much for using Megaupload and Not Rapidshare. Megaupload is by far the best.
I'm nervous about doing this but here goes.
Just one question. I put the PrimarySplash.nb in splash box and not system box -- right?
Please advise.
thanks. (I just don't want to brick my phone.)
Got it -- worked. You are a Genius.

Haven't tested that, but it's probably for one of the other two startups. The first startup cannot be changed without flashing.

did you make the picture that you want for the flash screen ? Did you download the easy how to as well ???
Ok I am no noob .. Maybe im too tired or I missed something somewhere in all of this. So let me ask all the dumb questions and hopefully you can make this a sticky clearly explained. Lets start will all the directions 1 by 1 and hopefully 1 of you geniuses can clean it up then hopefully make a sticky .....
A.) Download all files needed. (assistance is more than welcomed here)
B.) get the picture you want to use for your splash screen.
(**Instructions written by ttran001**)
1. Copy the image you would like to use into the image folder.
2. Open up the Step 1 folder and run the Replace SplashScreen.exe file.
3. Click on Load Bitmap from the newly opened menu (Replace Artemis SPlashScreen.
4. Click on the Update Splash button.
The PDA Phone ROM Update Utility 3.0.3.1 menu will pop up.
Leave it alone.
5. Go back to the image folder for step 1 and locate the RUU_signed.nbh file.
6. Copy the RUU_singed.nbh and place it into the RUU_signed folder.
7. Go back and close out both PDA Phone ROM Update Utility 3.0.3.1 and Replace Artemis SplashScreen.
8. Now go to the step 2 folder and double click on the nbhtool.exe.
9.This will open up Dutty's good NBH tool v1.1.
10. Click on the Decompile NBH file button.
11. Browse back to the RUU_singed folder and locate the new RUU_signed.nbh file.
12. Choose the same location or the one of your choosing to save the extract files.
13. Once completed it will extract a new file called PrimarySplash.nb, this is your new Splash replacement file.
OK we now have that part as easy as can be. Now the next parts for creating a nbh file.
Download and extract the HTC_ROM_Tool to your computer.
Double click on the htcrt.exe file to get started.
This new screen will popup.
Click on the Build! button.
On this screen click on the box under the Device: to select your device type.
Choose Herald
Type in your version of the rom, example: 4.10.531.3
Click on the box highlighted in red to choose your OS.nb file.
( Now where do we get this file from i would like that clarified and have it added to a download list for the sticky please.)
Click on the Build ROM botton.
This new screen will popup.
OK ... Now we have a nbh file... Now what would be the correct way of flashing this to a device. also the basic questions.
1.) Will this delete and or change my settings. ?
2.) What are the risks of flashing this way ?
3.) Does this work with HardSPL ?
4.) Does this work without HardSPL ?
5.) Must the picture be a bitmap ?
6.) Can I just use the ReplaceSplashScreen to just change the splash screen ?
7.) Does the program ReplaceSplashScreen work on wing before HardSPL or after or both ?
8.) Maybe im really tired how do I put pictures in this thread ... LOL ...
If I want to change the Windows Mobile splash also, do I change the name from "PrimarySplash" to "Secondary Splash"? or something? thanks.
