CustomRUU for Kaiser - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III Windows Mobile ROM De

By popular demand I've created HTC Kaiser CustomRUU, it is basically the same as the HTC RUU, but packed in one single exe file and slightly patched to perform a 'task 32' instead of a 'task 28' after flashing an NBH, so it will not format your device if you just flash a radio or a Splash screen.
Note: This CustomRUU will not allow you to flash unsigned files unless you have HardSPL installed, it will not push SSPL.
Instructions as always: Drop the NBH file of your choice in the same folder as CustomRUU and start flashing
Recommended tools for handling NBH files:
NBHextract - Extract contents from NBH files
htc rom tool - Repack NBH files from *.nb files
Enjoy

Oh you tease we are so close to cooking so close just need to figure out the imgfs tools!

will this work in Vista as someone had posted a ruu that works in vista for the Hermes I believe.

I don't know, I don't use Vista. Try it and report if it works or not

It works for Vista!

Thanks

great job pof, keep it going

But it's for the wrong phone  now we just need this for the Athena...

Sorry for the noob question, but what does this customRUU do? I've already hardSPL'ed my tilt and load the kaiser ROM.

Do I understand this good (translate in my brains)?
In the original situation with original ROM, when you update the RadioROM the device will format? Strange!

Re-read the first post. It's there. If you don't understand it, you probably won't be using it so I wouldn't worry about it.

Invalid applciation ?
Hello,
May be obvious ...
Why do I get and invalid pocket pc application when trying to run the kaiserCustomRUU.exe on my kaiser ?
Edit my-stupid-self : it runs from the PC

I am using Duttys 6.1 beta rom and I have flashed my device using KAIS_Radinly_1.64.08.21_CustomRUU and now the device just sits there at the HTC screen. Of course in this state I can't flash the old radio back as it isn't getting into the main part of the OS to sync. I have tried hard resetting and that takes me to the set up pages but then it takes me back to the HTC locked page again.
Is there anyway to get it back?
I am a bit worried that I have bricked it.

yeah guy above me im new here todays my 3rd day but ive picked up a few tips and tricks while STILL trying to unlock my phone "can somebody please help me"
anyway try holding the camera button while soft reseting your phone the tri color screen should pop up the try installing the same rom or different one or you can just Hard spl o something like that PLZ someone correct me if im wrong i did say im new but just tryin to help

Nevermind, please delete this post.

XP SP3?
Has anyone tried flashing on a Windows XP SP3 ?
Tried using any RUU and having a problem whereby it gives the error "The application failed to initialize properly (0xc000007b)"
Is it me or has anyone else had this issue?

I am trying to just flash my Radio. I have downloaded KAIS_Radinly_1.65.17.56_CustomRUU and when I try and upgrade my radio it says do you want to update your ROM from 3.14.405.0 to 1.0.0.0. Should I just OK this so it will continue to the Radio Update? I do not want to change my ROM

Need original ROM-Image for MDA Compact 2

I've tried another rom image for my mda compact 2 and now my mdac2 does'nt start any more.
I have tried several rom-images (for compact, atom, ewtc..), but I can install no one .
On the T-Mobile Homepage there is no Image for the MDAc 2.
Can anyone help me ?
I only come to the bootloder screen (red - green - blue).
I need a rom-image, that i can start from the bootloader.
thx
Try this link from TMO UK http://t-mobile.iris-global.com/download_manager_mda_com2.html
Success, M
I've already tried this, and it starts updating but then comes the message :
ERROR [294] : INVALID VENDER ID
THis Update Utility cannot be used for your PDA Phone.....
Maybe I have to unlock the CID first ?
But can I unlock the CID with the aWizard, when the Comp.2 is in the Bootloader mode (red-gree-blue) ?
Ouch,
Yes the cid-unlock will be needed :-( Can't you fix the RUU.conf or something simular with a first line like checkid=1 ? I've read about it on the board & seems to work for magician. & there's some tool like MaUpgradeUT_noid for the wizard too, but I don't remember whether that is awizard :-(
You're almost of to the shop isn't it.
BTW when you unzip the shipped-rom, do you get all kinds of nbf files. & Do they all start with the same word when you open them in hexeditor? I use nbfdec to decode them to a 'normal' file which can be edited, then you could be able to fix the header of the nb1 encode it again & try to update your device.
& have you tried some of these tools ftp://xda:[email protected]/Wizard/DumpROM/

In the unzipped folder is no file like RUU.conf.
Only RUU.dll and RUUREsource.dll
There are following files in the folder
EnterBootloader.exe
nk.nbf
README.doc
ROMUpdateUtility.xex
RUUGetInfoi.exe
RUUResource.dll
RUU.dll
And I've downloaded " nbfdec " , but I can not start this program.
I think i have to reboot my computer.
un zip all the files from the t-mobile package
ftp://xda:[email protected]/Wizard/Roms/Wizard_RomUpgradeUtility_noID.rar
download this and unrar and overwrite in the same folder.
connect up the phone in bootloader to pc and run the ..._NoID.exe
as theres no activesync connection it will pause for a bit on the checking existing rom but still let you carry on
ignore the picture of the wizard, just make sure your installing the right nk.nbf for the compact 2
I've exactly done what you said, the update ended with 100 % and now the device starts until the bootloader-screen (red-green-blue).
Have I done something wrong ?
What has happened ?

That's the one I was referring to, thanks.
Bundy did you reset afterwards?
M
Yes, I did a Hardreset, a Softreset , but I only get to the picture with the 3 colors.
IPL 1.12
SPL 2.15
I'm terribly sorry, but we've ran out of my knowlegde of the MDA Compact II. So besides the usual question: have you ran the update a second time, for me this would be warranty issue.
Hope Dave is worth more.
Good luck, M
Yes , I have done the update a second time, but with the same effect - the device only starts in the three-color-screen.
So I think I can do nothing more ....
:-(

I need a little clarity for the upgrade/downgrade process

Hi,
I have been on this site for about a week now. I was drawn here by the desire to take my Imate JamIn up to WM6.
So I pulled from the web the file:
RUU_Prophet_220734_2207114_024721_NVID_QTEK and hurled it onto my PDA
It went from Imate to QTEK but still worked pretty well. So I then went and loaded Upgrade Happy from a site in Roumania.
This loaded but was distinctly unimpressive and unstable so I managed to downgrade to the WM5 file above again.
Then I tried Smart1's v2 WM6 file and this went on OK. However, I have experienced a few issues with the battery and other things like Timewizard, etc.
So I have gone back to the NVID_QTEK WM5 file again.
BUT I would really like to put back on my Imate ROM which I have stored away. Sadly, whenever I try and load the ROM it states that the version is lower and I can only do an UPGRADE ( I get a 286 error).
I have searched here and Google and think that I can Un CID my phone (not actually sure what this does mind). I have read posts suggesting that once done I can load any version of any Prophet ROM on my PDA.
I went off and ended up on PDAMobiz and pulled down a file called:
PDAMobiz.com_ProphetAKU2_unlockCID.rar
But this site is incredibly slow and the file is corrupt when I finally get it down.
Can anyone explain to me whether it is possible to get to reload my earlier ROM version Imate ROM? If it is can anyone explain what I need to do and perhaps put up a link to an area where I can pull the tools down.
This website has a great reputation for helping each other out and I am sure that my ignorance will be forgiven,
Kind Regards,
Sam.
Hi
This is because you have upgraded your ipl/spl and these can't be downloaded.
But don't worry it's not a problem
if you have the original rom you should have a .nbf file?
You can use typho5.exe -x xxx.nbf (whatever it is called) this will extract the individual elements (ipl/spl/os/extrom/radio/splash screens) as .nb files.
Then use nb2nbf to build a new nbf file without spl/ipl parts. copy this file back to your backup folder (rename the original one first) and install again
Good Luck
Thanks - I have just a couple more dumb questions...
FlykThewiz,
Many thanks for your help.
I have the file:JAMin_WWE_213923_2139123_022021_shi.exe
Do you know how I get the .NBF out of it?
Also,
You couldn't point me to the tools you mention could you?
If I do what you said then do I get back my own Imate Splash screen too?
Do you know if I will suffer any problems with things being different versions?
Once again many thanks I will let you know how I get on.
Kind Regards,
Sam.
You can use winrar (free download - search google if you don't have it) to extract the files in your exe.
One of the file will be the nbf.
I will sort out the instructions for you but I have to go out for a couple of hours at the moment.
T H A N K Y O U
flykthewiz,
You are simply The MAN
Many, Many thanks,
Sam.
I don't know about being the man - i had the same problem myself.
Attached is a zip file with the two tools you need.
I suggest you create a folder called c:\rom and copy the contents of your exe file and these to programs into it.
goto a dos cmd window and cd \rom
type "typho5 -x nk.nbf" (no quotes)
you will then have a number of *.nb files in c:\rom
rename nk.nbf to nk.org
send me the list of nb files you have.
ZIPPED with winzip 12
Hi flykthewiz
is 92000000-Splash.nb is the imate pic when softreset
cause am using AKU3.3.13.ASERG after I unlocked my Jamin with RUU_Prophet_220734_2207114_024721_NVID .... and want to go back only for the Imate screen instead of QTEK, and can I flash with it only
thanks
Splash Screens
There are two splash screens - the one you mention is the first (often blank)
The second is 9d000000-xxx.nb this is the one that is displayed most of the time when the phone is booting. To enter this in nb2nbf you need to manually enter "HTC Logo" as the image name.

Thanks,
Sam.
Ok
fill in nb2nbf like the image in the attached zip file.
Important notes:
1. use the ... browse buttons to select your files and the length field will be filled in for you (the image shows mostly zeros)
2. the image name for the extended rom is Extension Rom (not Extended) and you have to type it manually - its not in the drop dow list.
3. the start address for OS.nb is 80040000 (not 82040000 which the program defaults to)
4. you need to manually type HTC Logo in image type - its not in the list.
Do not add the ipl and spl files! (these are the ones that are causing your problems)
When its all filled in click on Translate and when that is finished exit the program.
If you have copied all of the contents of your extracted exe to c:\ROM you should have a program called ROMUpdateUtility.
Connect your pda to usb and run this program and follow the instructions (you've done this before )
After its finished your phone will hard reset and you should have your original ROM.
It doesnt matter that ipl and spl are different versions
Good Luck

Nearly there
FlykTheWiz,
Many thanks for the instructions. I have done what you suggested with NB2NKF
However, When I try to run my RUU utility I get error code 238 Cannot Read the file.
I extracted all files into a single directory and replaced the default .NBF with my new one. Then ran the RUU tool.
Am I being a numpty?
Many thanks,
Sam.
hmmm
Try the appropriate RUU from the attached
If your ipl ends in .000 use G3 version
if ends in .0001 use G4 version
T H A N K Y O U
I would just like to thank you for your kindness and patience. I have now got the HTC device reblown to the original condition that I started from (with the exception of the IPL/SPL).
Using the G4 utility worked for me.
On the way I have learned a great deal and appreciate your assistance.
Thank you very much,
Sam.

Since we have not seen much input from Jesterz or Smart1 lately (I can understand that it is time-consuming...!) , can I suggest that maybe you could take up the reigns and offer to this community your first Prophet ROM build??? (Any +AKU base will be a help??)
Please do consider doing this - I *know* you can do this and although I appreciate it can take a lot of your personal time and effort to achieve.. I am sure that your contribution will be appreciated and valued by us all, if u were to attempt such a project!!?
If not, we do understand... but please stay around here and continue to help us all with your flykth-wiz-dom!!!

any idea?
thanks to all

I want too to make a personal bootscreen...if someone can help us with a little tutorial, we are waiting..thx
Try this
The pdf manual in this thread has a section on updating boot screen and all the tools required to do it are included too.
I do not suggest everybody trys to get into the ROM cooking that is also described, but the splash screen section is fairly straitforward
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=297027
first, with this tool you can create your own ROM (customized)...and also splash screens...see the manual pdf

well to make it easy to understand where we stand this is the only file we must change. but there is a problem. the original file is read only and can not be replaced nor rename or moved. not with total comander , not even unlock extended rom. after a small research i found that the file is integrated with in the original ROM not the extended.
so i am looking for a tool to delete/install files into the ROM when present on the device.
it sims that that cannot be done. we must dump the present rom, sort of cook it on our PC than re- install it with changes done.
at the same time since most of us are very happy with the ROM as is , but want to personal it littel bit, its worth a dedicated tool.
i will look into it. if i find a way i will post it here.
thanks for the great job of the PDAMobize last version .
good tool and very stable
You do not need to look into it!!!!
Read the previous two posts and look at the pdf manual in the download - it describes the tools you need to change you images (without cooking a complete rom)
And it doesnt need a hard reset either!

TOUCHFLO v4.17.07.14 PDAVIET - For Wing's users only

Here is the brand new rom version for T-mobile Wing. It has been modified based on the OS of Wing (thanks to Mr PhamQuang from PDAViet) and included TouchFlo.
This rom is the same as the version TOUCHFLO v4.17.07.12 PDAVIET (based on HTCs' OS), but for Wings' users only because of the keyboard. I am sure that from now on there is no more complain about the keyboard problem.
How to flash it? Just extract the nbh file by nbhtool. Then you can flash the extracted OS with Aserg's method.
It has a quite big storage compared with the original Shipped rom and TouchFlo runs well!
Link: http://tom-love.net/ROM/Herald/HERA_Wing_v4.10.07.14_PDAVIET_NBH.rar
i Might try this later so my keyboard gets fixed. If this version the keyboard is indeed fixed 100%, I hope it's my final version! TouchFLO + Keyboard fixed = masterpiece!

You can try again, but remember to softreset after installing Aserg.Policy.cab. Then you need to turn you PPC to Flightmode.

EDIT: It's still hanging during the upgrade at copyFileToTFFS

The same thing happened to me twice (did not know the reason). But the 3th time the flashing ran smoothly and now my device works perfectly.
You can try again, but remember to softreset after installing Aserg.Policy.cab. Then you need to turn you PPC to Flightmode.

Thanks! You've given me new hope.
Did you upgrade from the original TMO USA Ship version?
Thanks,
M

From what I know there is only one rom for Wing at the moment. This is the original TMO USA Ship version. The cooked rom v14.PDAViet is based on this rom. Mr PhamQuang removed some APP from T-mobile and added some new things as follows:
- ArcSoft MMS v4.2.8.1
- BT FTP v1.2 Build-30234
- StreamingMedia v2.20h Build-615718
- HTC Audio Manager v1.02 Build-725711
- Esmertec Jbed Java v2.1 20070802
- CommManager 1.72 với 10B
- HTC Touch UI HOME v2.0 Build-814722 (Kaiser)
- NetWizard v1.0 Build-29982
- Voice Speed Dialer v1.2 Build-070612
- X-Button v1.51 Build-30744
- SIM Manager v6.25
Is there a thread that shows what has been changed/added/deleted to this rom?
I would like to know what was taken off, and what was changed from the original tmobile ship before I switch to it.

Hi,
I've tried to flash this rom a lot of times without success. I'm just wondering how you were able to, since I think their is some thing wrong with the OS.nb file.
I'm able to reflash back to version .12 or even .15 but not .14.
Any help would be great.

Why did I introduce only the nbh file here? There is a reason! At first I started many times flashing with the OS.nb but no success like you. So I requested the rom-cooker to provide the nbh file.
I got the OS.nb from the nbh file by using nbhtool. With the new OS.nb I also failt twice. By the 3th time the falshing was succesful. I think you should turn your phone to Flightmode.
Has anybody been succesful with the flashing this version?
I ve got message
CopyFileToTFFS(OS.nb:0, 0, 04100000)
ERROR: ITWriteDisk - An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.

I received the same error message.
Well, I've wasted enough time on this, going back to version .12 until they fix the OS.nb file for this version.

your not sposed to rename it. you have to use nbhtool to get os.nb out of the .nbh file.
also
i've learned through experience that in order to flash the rom successfully without error you should
1.backup up any data you want to keep
2.install Tmob RUU factory shipped wm6 version
3.install the Asearg Policies cab file
4.soft reset
5.begin the upgrade rom flash batch file

I only have it for the welcome head..the stock splash is dependant on your firmware 6.1 or 6.5..custom rom or stock rom.
Thank you wez89.
I am thinking how can I convert this into splash screen or .CAB file to install it in my TD2. Which RUU should I use if it needs to? Do I have to HSPL?
I have upgraded my stock ROM to 2.53.707.4 (76952) WWE. Stock SPL 2.51.
Where can I find Stock SPL 2.51 if I want to re-flash it again?

For the initial boot screen, you have to flash with RUU.
Process is .bmp=> .nb => .nbh => flash w/ Topaz RUU.exe
You would need HSPL, the stock 2.51 should be availble now in the HSPL thread.

I would like also to change the first rom boot screen and found here; http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=431161
the tools to convert the bmp=> .nb => .nbh.
BUT this tools is for VGA devices (640x480) like can see on NBHUtil
Please, do you know any link where i can find maybe something more updated?
Here's what you need to do.
1. Find any picture and change it to 480x800 24 bit.bmp and rename it to 1.bmp. Right click on properties and make sure the file size is 1,152,054 bits (very important)
2. Download Splash.zip and extract to where ever you like.
3. Place 1.bmp into the same folder.
4. Run Go.bat (this converts the .bmp to .nbh) and follow prompts (let it complete the conversion)
5. You have now created a new 1.nbh file which you can rename to anything you like
6. From here you can flash the .nbh file just like a ROM .nbh;
a. Rename to TOPAIMG.nbh and place file in the root of your storage card and flash from Bootloader or....
b. Copy Topaz RUU and .nbh file to their own folder. sync your phone to your PC and run the RUU.exe.
ENJOY!
**Notes: MAKE SURE YOU HAVE INSTALLED HSPL FIRST!!!
This will not wipe your device data.
This covers the bottom 100 pixels(issue on previous versions)
I am not responsible for damages, but have tested and flashed to verify it works.
...and no I can't make it into a cab file for you...
