Need original ROM-Image for MDA Compact 2 - JAM, MDA Compact, S100 Software Upgrading

I've tried another rom image for my mda compact 2 and now my mdac2 does'nt start any more.
I have tried several rom-images (for compact, atom, ewtc..), but I can install no one .
On the T-Mobile Homepage there is no Image for the MDAc 2.
Can anyone help me ?

I only come to the bootloder screen (red - green - blue).
I need a rom-image, that i can start from the bootloader.
thx

Try this link from TMO UK http://t-mobile.iris-global.com/download_manager_mda_com2.html
Success, M

I've already tried this, and it starts updating but then comes the message :
ERROR [294] : INVALID VENDER ID
THis Update Utility cannot be used for your PDA Phone.....
Maybe I have to unlock the CID first ?
But can I unlock the CID with the aWizard, when the Comp.2 is in the Bootloader mode (red-gree-blue) ?

Ouch,
Yes the cid-unlock will be needed :-( Can't you fix the RUU.conf or something simular with a first line like checkid=1 ? I've read about it on the board & seems to work for magician. & there's some tool like MaUpgradeUT_noid for the wizard too, but I don't remember whether that is awizard :-(
You're almost of to the shop isn't it.
BTW when you unzip the shipped-rom, do you get all kinds of nbf files. & Do they all start with the same word when you open them in hexeditor? I use nbfdec to decode them to a 'normal' file which can be edited, then you could be able to fix the header of the nb1 encode it again & try to update your device.
& have you tried some of these tools ftp://xda:[email protected]/Wizard/DumpROM/

In the unzipped folder is no file like RUU.conf.
Only RUU.dll and RUUREsource.dll
There are following files in the folder
EnterBootloader.exe
nk.nbf
README.doc
ROMUpdateUtility.xex
RUUGetInfoi.exe
RUUResource.dll
RUU.dll
And I've downloaded " nbfdec " , but I can not start this program.
I think i have to reboot my computer.

un zip all the files from the t-mobile package
ftp://xda:[email protected]/Wizard/Roms/Wizard_RomUpgradeUtility_noID.rar
download this and unrar and overwrite in the same folder.
connect up the phone in bootloader to pc and run the ..._NoID.exe
as theres no activesync connection it will pause for a bit on the checking existing rom but still let you carry on
ignore the picture of the wizard, just make sure your installing the right nk.nbf for the compact 2

I've exactly done what you said, the update ended with 100 % and now the device starts until the bootloader-screen (red-green-blue).
Have I done something wrong ?
What has happened ?

That's the one I was referring to, thanks.
Bundy did you reset afterwards?
M

Yes, I did a Hardreset, a Softreset , but I only get to the picture with the 3 colors.
IPL 1.12
SPL 2.15

I'm terribly sorry, but we've ran out of my knowlegde of the MDA Compact II. So besides the usual question: have you ran the update a second time, for me this would be warranty issue.
Hope Dave is worth more.
Good luck, M

Yes , I have done the update a second time, but with the same effect - the device only starts in the three-color-screen.
So I think I can do nothing more ....

I have the same problem
Is there anyone to help and explain step by step how to upgrade with 1.13 radio in Magician.
Thanks
Does this v1.13 solve the known 'GPRS cannot re-connect' issue?
I need 2.

does it work for O2 XDA Mini????
If it does, i would like to give it a try...been going after this thread for months to get the solution but no go....
Anyone can help how to update the radio without 'Model ID Error'?
I have upgraded mine to NL_11300_131_11200, but I cannot upgrade the radio as rilazi encountered.
If you have a problem with the ID error, use the attached file instead of MaUpgradeUt. The one you need to use is MaUpgradeUt_NoId, not the one included in the original zip file.
I'm afraid that the MaUpgradeUt_NoId only works for the OS-upgrade, not for the Radio-upgrade (or is it just me?)...
I get this message: MaUpgradeUt_NoId.exe: This application has failed to start because RUU.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.
I also tried adding
[CHECKCEID_TYPE]=1
to the HTCRUU.conf file (like we do in the RUU.conf file during a OS-upgrade) but with no success.
Any suggestions?
It worked for me after I upgraded to T-Mob 1.13 ROM. Don't know why it's not working on yours. Did you download the Radio from ftp?

I have same problems.
Here is the way step by step:
1. Dawnload previous MaUpgradeUt_noID in this page
2. Dawnload MagicianRadio_1.13.00_maupgrade from ftp
3. Unzip MagicianRadio_1.13.00_maupgrade and paste there MaUpgradeUt_noID
4. When you unzip MagicianRadio_1.13.00_maupgrade you will get several files including HTCRUU.dll and rename this file to only RUU.dll
5. Run MaUpgradeUt_noID first and you will get Model ID error
6. Run for the second time you will Update Radio

I will get o2 xda neo from germany.
I would like somehow upgrade it to English version.
I already know it is G4 model so 0001. and it is probably locked because it is new.
I read much of forum and I found only one way to upgrade it.

is that the only way and the only rom I can use if my pda is locked?
Sorry because of my stupid questions. I'm new.

1. download the files.
awizard & typho5.exe
2. download an eng offical (prophet)ROM file from xda ftp , and extract it ,then you will get the NK.NBF file.
3. copy typho5.exe and nk.nbf files to c:\
4. start > run> input "cmd"
5. this folder "c:\" on dos, input typho5 –v –x nk.nbf
wait..... you will get the 80040000-OS.nb file from c:\
6.Modify " 80040000-OS.nb" to "80040000-OS.nba" (add " a " word )
7.put the 80040000-OS.nba file into awizard\ROM\
double clik awizard.bat file, see about awizard tool writer's "readme" file.
Q1 : How to flash ROM file to device:
1.run option 'e'
2.run option 'u'
(after program perform finished, you must confirm your phone restart itself )
4.run option 'w' (choose 80040000-OS.nba) and enter
wait..... until pc display show over, then you reset your phone.(hard reset)
work finished , your phone is eng platform now. but the extended_rom need modify ,next time tell u.
do you undertand my above means?
No, there is no need to use any thirdpartytools.
It was no problem for me to upgrade my Xda Neo with the 2.15-O2-Rom directly to the 2.20-Qtek-Rom (could be found on FTP-server).

yes ,if your ipl_spl version lower than the updata rom version, use the romupdatauitlity "next--next--next-flash....." could be successfull . if u downgrade contain ipl_spl 's rom, your phone will not be reboot (g4 phone).
awizard tool updata your rom only , any os roms can be used. it's useful tool for g4 machine

here you go.
I have "Qtek_wwe_ExtROM_v2.20.7.114" EXT_ROM only, cooperate the same OS version is the best. if you want to get your currently EXT_ROM version ,maybe need other same version users use awizard tool backup it for you.
This is the EXT_ROM replacement method :
1.download "ext_rom unlocker ,extended rom,Total Commander", then copy these files into your phone.
2.on your phone, run "ext_rom unlocker.exe" first;
3.install "Total Commander.cab",then run this 'Total Commander' program.
4.In 'TC' interface, click "show">"Singe window mode">choose "Two window mode", then input "\extended_rom" in the top of the blank row 。it will show the hiding files, click one file, then click "show">"select/unselect files", input " * ", click "select", click one file and hold on press, then delete all files. in the row below ,open the Extended ROM folder ,copy all files .click "Copy to Clipboard". then paste these files in above window. select this new files, hold on press , select "Properties" , in front of the "Read Only", click twice, click "OK", do the 'hard reset'.
over.
don't work
5. this folder "c:\" on dos, input typho5 –v –x nk.nbf
this doesn't work

i don't remember wher I found it, but here is excacly the name of the file:
RUU_Prophet_220734_2207114_024721_QTEK_WWE_Ship.rar
I am surprised that ypsys's method actually works on G4 Prophet. Can someone please double confirm it? rydzo anyone?
The reason that I am in doubt because ypsys's method of using awizard includes step to CID unlock from the 'u' command, which does not work on G4 Prophet. I download the latest awizard tool and the readme clearly says that the tool will try to force unlock CID in every write option. Won't that cause any harm to G4 Prophet?

Hi,
I'm a totaly newbie to HTC and CID so I do have 2 Questions.
1) Is there a ROM which does support wpa2-aes and eap-ttls ? I did not find a detailed description of the many diffrent roms.
2) if 1 == true how do I find out if my phone is CID locked without trying a rom update. Some said that every HTC Prophet G4 is CID locked and others only newer G4 are locked. My phone :
ipl 2.15.0001
spl 2.15.0001
GSM 02.19.21
ROM 2.15.4.47

hi,
i too have similar confusion. I bought new Neo, with dopod rom already installed having following :
ipl/spl 2.15.0001
radio 2.19.21 (dont remember, may be 2.17.21 or some like that)
OS 2.15.13.27 WWE
Rom dt 3/09/06
Protocol 4.1.13.16
Ext rom 2.15.13.121
i only upgraded radio to 2.47.21, but then downgraded to 2.20.21 bcos it was eating battery so fast. still this radio is consuming more battery than my original radio which i had no backup. Is there any available source of only radio 2.19.21 ?
well main confusion remains intact--- whether my G4 Neo is CID unlock or not? I guess it is unlock as it already comes with dopod rom. I dont know right answer, may some senior help.
Due to this uncertainity im not flashing my Neo with
RUU_Prophet_2151327_21513121_021921_DOP_ASIA_WWE_Ship.exe
to get back the radio 2.19.21
should i do the flash with this?
please answer gurus.
thanx
nandlal
Ok guys,
i flashed my Neo with
RUU_Prophet_2151327_21513121_021921_DOP_ASIA_WWE_S hip-NoVendorID.exe successfully and now it got radio 2.19.21.
device is runing good as before and battery drain is as standard.

I need a little clarity for the upgrade/downgrade process

Hi,
I have been on this site for about a week now. I was drawn here by the desire to take my Imate JamIn up to WM6.
So I pulled from the web the file:
RUU_Prophet_220734_2207114_024721_NVID_QTEK and hurled it onto my PDA
It went from Imate to QTEK but still worked pretty well. So I then went and loaded Upgrade Happy from a site in Roumania.
This loaded but was distinctly unimpressive and unstable so I managed to downgrade to the WM5 file above again.
Then I tried Smart1's v2 WM6 file and this went on OK. However, I have experienced a few issues with the battery and other things like Timewizard, etc.
So I have gone back to the NVID_QTEK WM5 file again.
BUT I would really like to put back on my Imate ROM which I have stored away. Sadly, whenever I try and load the ROM it states that the version is lower and I can only do an UPGRADE ( I get a 286 error).
I have searched here and Google and think that I can Un CID my phone (not actually sure what this does mind). I have read posts suggesting that once done I can load any version of any Prophet ROM on my PDA.
I went off and ended up on PDAMobiz and pulled down a file called:
PDAMobiz.com_ProphetAKU2_unlockCID.rar
But this site is incredibly slow and the file is corrupt when I finally get it down.
Can anyone explain to me whether it is possible to get to reload my earlier ROM version Imate ROM? If it is can anyone explain what I need to do and perhaps put up a link to an area where I can pull the tools down.
This website has a great reputation for helping each other out and I am sure that my ignorance will be forgiven,
Kind Regards,
Sam.
Hi
This is because you have upgraded your ipl/spl and these can't be downloaded.
But don't worry it's not a problem
if you have the original rom you should have a .nbf file?
You can use typho5.exe -x xxx.nbf (whatever it is called) this will extract the individual elements (ipl/spl/os/extrom/radio/splash screens) as .nb files.
Then use nb2nbf to build a new nbf file without spl/ipl parts. copy this file back to your backup folder (rename the original one first) and install again
Good Luck
Thanks - I have just a couple more dumb questions...
FlykThewiz,
Many thanks for your help.
I have the file:JAMin_WWE_213923_2139123_022021_shi.exe
Do you know how I get the .NBF out of it?
Also,
You couldn't point me to the tools you mention could you?
If I do what you said then do I get back my own Imate Splash screen too?
Do you know if I will suffer any problems with things being different versions?
Once again many thanks I will let you know how I get on.
Kind Regards,
Sam.
You can use winrar (free download - search google if you don't have it) to extract the files in your exe.
One of the file will be the nbf.
I will sort out the instructions for you but I have to go out for a couple of hours at the moment.

flykthewiz,
You are simply The MAN
Many, Many thanks,
Sam.
I don't know about being the man - i had the same problem myself.
Attached is a zip file with the two tools you need.
I suggest you create a folder called c:\rom and copy the contents of your exe file and these to programs into it.
goto a dos cmd window and cd \rom
type "typho5 -x nk.nbf" (no quotes)
you will then have a number of *.nb files in c:\rom
rename nk.nbf to nk.org
send me the list of nb files you have.

Splash Screens
There are two splash screens - the one you mention is the first (often blank)
The second is 9d000000-xxx.nb this is the one that is displayed most of the time when the phone is booting. To enter this in nb2nbf you need to manually enter "HTC Logo" as the image name.

Ok
fill in nb2nbf like the image in the attached zip file.
Important notes:
1. use the ... browse buttons to select your files and the length field will be filled in for you (the image shows mostly zeros)
2. the image name for the extended rom is Extension Rom (not Extended) and you have to type it manually - its not in the drop dow list.
3. the start address for OS.nb is 80040000 (not 82040000 which the program defaults to)
4. you need to manually type HTC Logo in image type - its not in the list.
Do not add the ipl and spl files! (these are the ones that are causing your problems)
When its all filled in click on Translate and when that is finished exit the program.
If you have copied all of the contents of your extracted exe to c:\ROM you should have a program called ROMUpdateUtility.
Connect your pda to usb and run this program and follow the instructions (you've done this before )
After its finished your phone will hard reset and you should have your original ROM.
It doesnt matter that ipl and spl are different versions
Good Luck

FlykTheWiz,
Many thanks for the instructions. I have done what you suggested with NB2NKF
However, When I try to run my RUU utility I get error code 238 Cannot Read the file.
I extracted all files into a single directory and replaced the default .NBF with my new one. Then ran the RUU tool.
Am I being a numpty?
Many thanks,
Sam.
hmmm
Try the appropriate RUU from the attached
If your ipl ends in .000 use G3 version
if ends in .0001 use G4 version

I would just like to thank you for your kindness and patience. I have now got the HTC device reblown to the original condition that I started from (with the exception of the IPL/SPL).
Using the G4 utility worked for me.
On the way I have learned a great deal and appreciate your assistance.
Thank you very much,

Flykthewiz... Many thanks for your input to this thread... your tutorial has helped me (and many of us) more than almost ANY other on this site!!! You are obviously very knowledgeable in this "art"!!!!
Since we have not seen much input from Jesterz or Smart1 lately (I can understand that it is time-consuming...!) , can I suggest that maybe you could take up the reigns and offer to this community your first Prophet ROM build??? (Any +AKU base will be a help??)
Please do consider doing this - I *know* you can do this and although I appreciate it can take a lot of your personal time and effort to achieve.. I am sure that your contribution will be appreciated and valued by us all, if u were to attempt such a project!!?
If not, we do understand... but please stay around here and continue to help us all with your flykth-wiz-dom!!!

Thanks for your vote of confidence, but I have to say - you must be joking
I only started looking at modifying ROM's 2 days ago and it is a minefield. I have absolutely every respect for Jesterz, Smart1, Nghianha, and all of the guys over at PDAMobiz. I think it will be a long while before I am anything like of their calibre!

[Q] HP rx1950 English ROM

first to post here
as i saw that HP rx1950 has got a Windows Mobile 6.1 Custom ROM..
but my device doesn't have the same language as the custom ROM pack, so i can't update it...
i've searched through the forum and the internet... there had been some ROMs posted,, but the links were dead already
anyone who still have this device, hope u can kindly extract the Stock WM5 English ROM for me
thanks a lot for your help, and sorry for my poor english..
martin
Just upgrade you phone, language of your current ROM doesn't make a difference .
Here is a kitchen ROM of WM 6.1 Classic for rx1950 from xda members Victory144 and Guifort.
http://www.mediafire.com/file/nna2yo92q2beiik/Flasher_Hp_Ipaq_rx1950_ENG_WM6.1.rar
I agree with tomcug. It should flash your ROM to WM 6.1 regardless of the language. You need to use it on a Windows XP computer with ActiveSync installed though...

I've read the post.. there're two methods to flash the WM6.1 ROM, by SD or through USB.. but i failed with a message "Wrong Image" after cloning the image to SD card, and the lauguage problem while flashing through USB with stock update utility (that maybe some lock by HP on language. mine is Chinese Traditional, but the update image is English..)
therefore, that'll be fine if the English Stock ROM is available.. btw, is there any program to flash that bypass the lock??
or how to change the language option of the ROM generated by kitchen?
i am not very familiar to configure the kitchen
thank you for your help
Here is a very technical discussion of 2 methods for installing different language ROMs.
http://www.tweaks2k2.com/How_to/39xxROMlang.htm
You will need a HexEditor:
http://www.mediafire.com/file/6r8ffn1fq3bh9mu/uedit32.exe
And a mtty program:
http://www.mediafire.com/file/7srppxvnr728ime/mtty11a.exe
BUT - at the end of method two when the author says - At the terminal screen type "lnb nk.nb0" at the USB prompt. (That means: Load the ROM nk.nb0)
INSTEAD - use the command "l nk.nb0"
That may be a typo - or the difference in mtty versions used by myself and the author...
thank you for your suggestion, i see that the ROM file structure of 3950 is a bit similar to rx1950, so i will try to change that
i've got the kitchen and the whole system downloaded from the site u suggested, but i just can't figure out how to change the language code of the output file while building the ROM , so that i can fool the ROM Update Utility and flash the ROM to my PDA..
wt's Build_XIP?
do u hv any suggestions? thx again
martin
Build_XIP... I think that is something for a different device. confused
_____
The following is based on research and guesswork. I make NO CLAIM that it will work and not damage your device... TRY AT YOUR OWN RISK.
_____
If my experiments with mtty and my reading of the How to install a different language tutorial are correct, all you need is:
mtty11a.exe to send commands to your iPAQ.
The English WM 6.1 ROM Image (CEOS.nbf) you want to upgrade to.
And Uedit32 to edit the ROM.
Put all 3 files in the same folder. It will be easiest to create a new folder on desktop with whatever name you like.
_____
This is for a Windows XP computer. That is what you have, yes?
First be sure to BACKUP your iPAQ and put all files in a safe place on your PC.
Next - remove the battery and any SD cards from the rx1950. Wait at least 10 minutes for the internal battery to discharge so that the iPAQ is cleared of all memory except the ROM you want to overwrite.
_____
Now we want to save the Chinese ROM you have so we can restore it if anything goes wrong. Best to be safe, yes?
Do you have a spare SD card at least 256mb? If not, use the one you normally have in rx1950... See why we saved all your files first?
Kill ActiveSync by opening Task Manager>Processes. Look on the list for wcesmgr.exe and wcescomm.exe. Highlight each one and click on End Process. With ActiveSync killed you can now "talk" to iPAQ with mtty.
DO NOT PUT IN THE BATTERY. Attach the iPAQ to the PC with the USB cable AND the AC Power Cord. Turn the iPAQ on and manually enter Bootloader Mode. (Google tells me for rx1950 you - press following buttons simultanously
Contacts + Mail + Reset for as long as your PDA boots)
Insert the SD card where you want to save the Chinese WM 5 ROM.
Go to the folder where you saved the 3 files you need and double click mtty11a.exe. That opens a box called "Open port setting." Scroll down the list in "Port" and look for \\\WCEUSBSH001. That is the port you want. I noticed that the end number (001) changes with each use of mtty. Never mind the number so much, \\\WCEUSBSH00x is what you want - that is your iPAQ. Select that port and click on the "OK" button.
It should open a command terminal (white window). Press enter until USB> appears in the window. I only needed to press enter once, but some tutorials say keep pressing until it appears. (?)
At the USB> prompt type r2SD and press enter. This will have mtty command your iPAQ to dump your ROM image onto the SD Card as RAW DATA. Wait for the progress bars on iPAQ screen to finish and you get a completed message.
Save this SD card in a safe place. This is your Recovery Image to restore the iPAQ back to the ROM you started with. The card is not formatted in a way that you can open and read with Windows XP so do not try putting it in a card reader right now - XP will want to format it and we don't want that to happen.
_____
If you need to recover your iPAQ at any point...
Unplug the iPAQ from PC and AC power cords. Remove battery and SD card. Wait 10 minutes to reset memory.
Insert SD card with Recovery Image. Plug in the AC power cord. Turn on iPAQ. Enter Bootloader Mode. iPAQ will see the Image on the SD card and offer you the option to Flash your ROM or exit. Pick the option to flash your ROM.
The iPAQ will Hard Reset after it flashes and then you can remove the SD card with the Recovery Image and do a Restore from the files you saved on PC and/or your regular SD card and the Backup we did at the beginning of this experiment.
_____
Now that we are safe, we can start to try and change the English WM 6.1 ROM so you can flash it to your iPAQ.
I read the "How to install a different language" tutorial quite a few times. Here are my calculations for what we need:
Original checksum
minus HexSum of ENG (45+4E+47 = DA)
equals change value
or
ECEC
-DA
= EC12
HexSum of CHT (43+48+54 = DF)
plus change value
equals new checksum
or
DF
+ EC12
= ECF1
Then that means we change ENG (code for English) to CHT (code for Chinese Traditional) and also change the Checksum from ECEC to ECF1 and we can get the ENG ROM to load on your CHT rx1950.
_____
Now you need to edit the ROM. Go to the folder where you saved the 3 files you need and double click uedit32.exe to open the Hex Editor. Click on "File>Open" and navigate to the folder where you put your files. Select CEOS.nbf and Uedit will open it.
10 lines down (line 00000090h) the file says "..........ENG.hp"
Next line 000000a0h says "iPAQ rx1950...."
This may or may not be the place to change - But I believe it is the right spot to tell any updater program what iPAQ version to update...
Scroll down to line 00000ea0h where it says "..........ECEC^a"
Next line 00000eb0h says ".e^a..........."
I believe that is the ROM Checksum and then an order to verify the checksum from iPAQ...
Scrolling down farther to line 00001ec0h it says " iPAQ rx1950..6."
Next line 00001ed0h says "00.00 ENG......."
I believe this tells any updater program what version is being flashed. But it may need to be changed...
So my best guess is:
At the first spot ENG is listed (line 00000090h) you need to edit ENG to CHT
At line 00000ea0h you need to edit ECEC to ECF1
Make these changes with Uedit32 and then click "File>Save as" and label the file "Test.nbf" saving it to the folder we have been using. (Note that mtty and any files you want to flash MUST be in the same directory.)
In Uedit32 click on "File>Close All Files" and exit Uedit32. Now you have 2 versions of the ROM in your folder...
_____
mtty still open and iPAQ connected?
If not - connect iPAQ as above (no battery or SD card, wait ten minutes, connect with USB and AC power, put rx1950 into Bootloader Mode). Open mtty. Navigate to your port and get a USB> prompt.
At USB> type in "l Test.nbf" (no quotes) and it should try to flash the edited ROM to rx1950.
If it was edited wrong you will get an error message something like "Header request time out."
_____
If it doesn't work that way it shouldn't affect your iPAQ and a Hard Reset should be all you need to restore your system. If that fails we have the SD card Restore Image we made earlier.
Delete the Test.nbf file from the folder and try editing CEOS.nbf again.
Try changing the Checksum and the second time ENG is listed:
At line 00000ea0h you need to edit ECEC to ECF1
At line 00001ed0h you need to edit ENG to CHT
Save as Test.nbf and have mtty "l Test.nbf" again
If it fails, delete Test.nbf
The last try would be by editing the Checksum and both times ENG is listed:
At line 00000090h you need to edit ENG to CHT
At line 00000ea0h you need to edit ECEC to ECF1
At line 00001ed0h you need to edit ENG to CHT
Save as Test.nbf and have mtty "l Test.nbf" again
_____
I hope one of these works for you. Please let us know what happens.
Thanks.
thanks for your suggestions very much!!
but i get the File CRC checksum error when using the stock update utility,
and through mtty.exe, it shows "Header Request Time out" also, in both i changed the first mentioned "ENG" to "CHT", second time and both times ...
all failed
would there any way to flash it through SD (by creating a suitable .nb0 file?) ?
hurray!!!!
i've cheated the HP ROM Update Utility (RUU) to accept to update an English ROM to a Chinese machine !!!
i use WinHex to replace the ENG with CHT, CHT with ENG,, and it's OK now!!!!
anyway, thank you very very very much for your sincere help!!!!!!!!!
Really marvellous!!!
HUZZAH and Congratulations martinhy!!!!!
I'm glad you got it to work.
I was at the keyboard for about 4 hours playing with the files last night and was afraid that my guess was wrong (as it turns out it was). So I'm really surprised and pleased that you solved it.
You just edited the RUU??? All other files in the kitchen folder stay the same???
Cause I need to cheat it and make it change from rx1950 to rx3115... I'll be trying your method soon.
it's troublesome to change ,, or i can say, cheat, the ROM file (.nbf) itself, coz it has checksum .. and the algorithm may be difficult to guess, and changing with different versions of iPAQ,
but the RUU itself doesn't have the integrity check, so it's cheatable
anyway, thx for your effort to help me
i can't be sure whether your guess is wrong, coz when i download the stock ROM, i.e. "l CEOS.nbf" to the iPAQ, through mtty, i also says "header request timed out"..
so i can't be sure whether there's problem for the way to edit the ROM, or the iPAQ doesn't support such mtty method...
or........
. becoz i'm a newbie, maybe i've got something wrong though...
*sigh*
When I try to change the RUU from rx1950 to rx3115 and run the rx1950 upgrade kitchen I get the CRC error...
When I try to change the .nbf and put it in with a rx3115 update package I get 244 Error (model ID)...
When I pull on my hair it comes out in big chunks...
I think I need a lot more study and a new toolkit...
that's maybe quite a challenge to flash ROMs from other models rather than language... both models are not compatible
