Hey everyone, I have a Droid and know the ins and outs of it...

my brother has a T-Mobile MyTouch 3G 32A and I would like to find out what the best ROM would be up to date...and steps I need to load it.
I have been trying to read, but am really confused about all these things...Please don't be too rough...or at least point me in the right direction please.

if he has a mt3g with the 3.5 mm jack on top.. he is sol there arnt any roms for it that work 100% other then the stock fender rom... search for mt3g fender/1.2 ... oh and i take it the phone is already rooted?? if it is then you flash rom throught recovery.

Yeah we need more info.
What kind of SPL and radio does he have?
The new MyTouch with the headset jack is a hybrid of sorts of the 32A and 32B. It's basically a 32B with the memory of a 32A if I'm not mistaken.
He has the newer one with the 3.5mm jack. It is not rooted yet, so all stock T-Mobile.

ok well if ur going too root it.. go to unlockr.com and look for the how to root mt3g fender/1.2

I convinced my own mother to get an Android device for Sprint.
I told her to check out the Hero.
She did and she bought it.
About an hour later she called me up:
"I got it",
"Got what ma?",
"That phone you suggested... the Droid."
"(palm face) IT'S NOT THE F&#KING DROID MOTHER!"
"Then what is it?"

Yeah, everyvody says to me when they see my phone "Hey, is that a Droid?" It gets annoying after awhile.

I haven't heard of needing a gold card? Where did you read that? I know that when I had my G1 and now on my Nexus One I use Cyanogen Rom. I swear by is as does a few people.

The only way to root the Mytouch with the 3.5mm jack is with a Goldcard.

How can i root my mytouch 3g with the jack? i have looked at unlockr and the process they give does not work for me i cannot figure out how to do this im new to rooting phones

No recovery and everything is done via ODIN. I use to have a Behold II and this guy makes awesome roms. We need to get him off T-Mobile and moved on over to Sprint ha ha.

im getting speeds like that on my Vivid

O o you have a vivid. Whatcha think about it honestly? From what ive read skyrocket blows it away. But who knows
the vivid is nice, but htc lying to us about the bootloader is beginning to piss me off immensely.
i have a rom built for it, and i cant even flash it yet.
i have a rom built for the skyrocket, but the difference is that i will be able to flash it as soon as its in my hands....
I had the evo 3d . With hboot 1.5 which was locked but htc put a way on there website to unlock it as they called it. We could flash roms with cwm but had to fastboot flash kernels so we had to use the pc to get into fastboot ... did they not do the same for the vivid?

ha!.
the vivid is the exact same thing as the htc raider in canada. if you take a canadian htc raider, go to htcdev.com you can unlock. if you take a vivid and go to htcdev.com, and try to unlock you get an error 170. CID not allowed. aka, AT&T is involved somehow with the locked bootloader. numerous attempts have been made to contact htc in regards to the locked bootloader, and we keep getting cut n paste responses from their 'CSRs'. "please watch htcdev.com for an unlocked bootloader in the future"
their time is running thin. people are giving them 30 days, if they dont unlock, the vivid community is going to be barren.

well guess what u r still waiting for ur rocket while i hav mine and i tried it and still it wouldn't let me delete the boot animation file or past the nexus boot animation. So i think you can probably figure this out when you get the phone. And looking forward to see that ROM of urs in Dev forum.
I hear that. But there was no way to unlock the evo3d at first either. Everyone was pissed, and someone started a petition got like over 100000 signatures on htcs facebook, and they were hardcore trolled non stop with everyone thretening to reaturn the device. But it worked because like 2 days later htc released a statement. they were unlocking it , And they did ( kinda). Then said future devices would have unlocked bootloaders. Lol looks like they lied in this case

Wow yup same situation except this time they flat out lied.... they posted that statement 2 days after they saw over 100000 pissed off people wanting the evo3d unlocked. Im suprised they havent caved yet i hope for you guys they do... there starting to become more like motorola lol

haha. cancelled my order, and placed 2 new separate orders.
should have skyrocket in hand in a couple of days. hopefully this weekend i will see some action.
After multiple exchanges, T-Mobile has offered to swap me out for a new device. They offered me the MT4G Slide or the Sensation. The sensation has a lot more ROM options, so I went with that.
I'm actually kind of sad, I loved this phone! But alas, the run as come to an end!
Man, and ics just went crazy here. Oh well. Drop by once in awhile. Enjoy your new toy.
I'm running IceColdSandwhich on this until my sensation gets here. I love it! ICS seems to be blowing up over there too! I'll always love this phone though!

What makes you say that?
The last time I called CS, they said one more issue and they'd swap me out. I traveled (drove) to Vegas last week for spring break, and couldn't use navigation and charge my phone at the same time. It flat out wouldn't charge while navigation was in use. Called them up tonight, they said they'd swap me out.
im getting the sensation XE soon.. the only thing ill miss is the physical buttons.. everythings all touch now and i hate it

When did you get the phone? My 1 year warranty has already expired, so I'm SOL if there's anything wrong with my phone.

Ima trade my htc mytouch 4g for a htc sensation 4g brand new n white today. I love the mytouch I just like bigger phones lol.just wanted to say thanks for the ics roms and had fun with the mytouch. later mytouch 4g!!
is there anyway to boost wifi reception on the shift? a lil bit of background info i just got my replacement shift back from sprint and rooted it thenks to indirects write upand prboy1969's help. but after rooting i have experienced horrible wifi range i have to be about five feet away from the box to have excellent strength but if im about 15-20 feet away it says poor and i have to have the shift pointed directly at the wifi modem. any help is greatly appreciated. thanks in advance

Yea sorry wrong choice of words the 1% mod that you linked from the uot kitchen i think it was. Honestly i think it is the phone because before i got it replaced the old shift i had had great range on it but i think im going to unroot and check it again and see if it works on stock. If not ill be calling sprint on monday.

My replacement Shift has horrible Wifi reception also right now. Did you unroot and check to see if it's better on stock?
I know you probably already did this stuff. But did make sure nothing is blocking the signal coming from your Router ? I know that on my house soemone always wants to try and tuck the Router back behind something, or put something on top of it. Because it's Ugly. Also Routers give off a better signal when they're not on the floor. Did you go into Menu-Settings-Wireless & networks-Wi-Fi settings-menu-Advanced , and make sure you have Best Wi-Fi performance checked off ? Then Menu-Save.
Hey sorry I didn't reply sooner it was a problem with the phone so I had to get another one but to my surprise they didn't have anymore shifts. I had a choice between a referbed epic the old one with the keyboard or a new in box EVO 3d so I went with the 3d. So sadly I won't be around the forums much anymore

Good choice but the only issue with the lastest EVO 3D is the newer hboot that has to be unlocked using the htc tool. It seems HTC is making it harder and harder to get S-OFF bootloaders

Well you choose well, if those were your only choices. But it kinda sucks as far as the way your going to have to use to gain root. But have fun with the new phone .

Did you get a white 3d or a black 3d? If they gave you a white one they screwed you... The white evo3d went e.o.l. the same day the shift did...
