Just switched to AT&T from Sprint (cause my wife has been bugging the hell out of me for an iPhone 4)
I had originally got an iPhone 4 with her so to see what all of the hype was about....... after feeling constrained for about 2 weeks I had to go back to my first love....."Android"
Needless to say that the Captivate is great phone!! Loving the speed, screen size and crispness!!
Now..... on to rooting it...... LOL.

Me too and talk about a smack in the face. OLD School SERO plan holders can now upgrade to a plan that allows the 4G phones for 50 bucks a month.

Hit these forums as soon as I got it. Then Ran SRE. It just works. I currently don't have the lagfix on the phone because I'm a little scared of ext4 on solid state memory. I'm looking for data that shows just how many writes our memory can take before it craps out.

SuperOneClick. Pretty easy. Extract all the files and run the EXE... then click "ROOT".
I wonder how we'll access recovery since the normal procedure initiates a format.
The normal procedure does that on stock recovery, with cwm I guess it wouldn't do that

Dude, even T-Mo is a fan. I saw a conversation between the two on twitter earlier. They are GIVING him a G-Slate. haha
Tmo is the most open provider. They don't care if you root and support community. I'll be switching in the sumner

IF. From what I've been hearing from T-Mo and AT&T Reps is that the FCC doesn't like it at all and might not approve it. Which in turn causes AT&T to pay T-Mobile some money in the end and give them a nice chunk of spectrum.
Nothing's final yet.

Off topic here - but even if FCC and Justice reject it - Courts have been over ruling them on anti-competitive mergers - would just take longer (good).

the vivid is nice, but htc lying to us about the bootloader is beginning to piss me off immensely.
i have a rom built for it, and i cant even flash it yet.

I had the evo 3d . With hboot 1.5 which was locked but htc put a way on there website to unlock it as they called it. We could flash roms with cwm but had to fastboot flash kernels so we had to use the pc to get into fastboot ... did they not do the same for the vivid?

ha!.
the vivid is the exact same thing as the htc raider in canada. if you take a canadian htc raider, go to htcdev.com you can unlock. if you take a vivid and go to htcdev.com, and try to unlock you get an error 170. CID not allowed. aka, AT&T is involved somehow with the locked bootloader. numerous attempts have been made to contact htc in regards to the locked bootloader, and we keep getting cut n paste responses from their 'CSRs'. "please watch htcdev.com for an unlocked bootloader in the future"
their time is running thin. people are giving them 30 days, if they dont unlock, the vivid community is going to be barren.

well guess what u r still waiting for ur rocket while i hav mine and i tried it and still it wouldn't let me delete the boot animation file or past the nexus boot animation. So i think you can probably figure this out when you get the phone. And looking forward to see that ROM of urs in Dev forum.

Everyone was pissed, and someone started a petition got like over 100000 signatures on htcs facebook, and they were hardcore trolled non stop with everyone thretening to reaturn the device. But it worked because like 2 days later htc released a statement. they were unlocking it , And they did ( kinda). Then said future devices would have unlocked bootloaders. Lol looks like they lied in this case

haha. cancelled my order, and placed 2 new separate orders.
should have skyrocket in hand in a couple of days. hopefully this weekend i will see some action.
I jumped for joy earlier today when i hopped right onto XDA to do my usual look around the forums for the skyrocket. And right infront of me were the words "ICS for SKYROCKET"
I quickly Downloaded the file and went on my way to wait for my phone to be brought back to me...only to figure out that Rogers users were left out in all this fun and joy
To my understanding, hardware is all the same...
What could possibly be done?
Is it best we wait for a work around or have someone create a custom ROM.

None work. They all have the most ridiculous lag and everything FCs. Takes like 5 mins to click something. I've flashed em all. The only one that boots up nice is the one in the t989 forum but nothing works (no data etc) so we dont have it

It's more than bearable. Very smooth, the bugs that it has seem to be in line with the bugs in the AT&T Odin install. Can't confirm LTE as I don't have it in my area yet.
