I've tried searching, but cannot find a fix. My phone always gets unlocked in my pocket and it's annoying. I know that another ROM has the ability to stop the phone's ability to unlock by pressing the menu button. Is there anyway to get this fixed without adding a a different kind of launcher or modifying the look of the original theme? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Another pocket call to 911 and I'm sure I'd be in jail.
I saw that, but do you not need to remove the HTCLockScreen and have a different layout as I stated? I just wanted to know if there was a fix without modifying the layout, changing the look or removing any functionality.
And thanks for being nice about it, MrTrip.
edit: NM, misread.

Around here they just fine you for that... (Although I hear it's a steep enough fine that you might actually prefer sleeping the night in jail....)

does anyone know how to disable the volume buttons when the device is locked? this seems somewhat obvious, im not sure why the volume buttons are not disabled...
im using the at&t rom that came on the phone
http://www.ppcmobility.com/forums/showthread.php?t=381
this is supposed to work but it did not for at least one person...
didnt work for me, weird tho how this is such a simple requested feature, and HTC choose to not get it sorted out.
The whole point of the lock, is to disable all keys...surely??
dont know how many times ive put the TP in its case, only to pull it out, and see its almost silnt, as the volume buttons have been triggered.
shoddy....

I've got a stock HTC ROM (v1.90.00.00) and when it's asleep it doesn't respond to the volume buttons.
Cheers,
Steve.
For some reason I thought I posted this before, but a quick search doesn't find it, so I must have forgotten..
To enable the behavior you desire:
Code:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Keybd]
"DisableVolumeKeyDuringLock"=dword:1

Noob question here. I could not find this in reg editor... Do I have to create this as new code in HKCU\ControlPanel\keybd?
Yes, the key is not there by default, you have to create it
New dword.. DisableVolumeKeyDuringLock.. value 1.. hex or decimal doesn't matter as 1 is the same in either
I could just make a .cab.. 1 sec
Thar she blows!
Thanks! I will try the cab after I try to do it in reg edit. Kinda new at this stuff, so I am trying stuff out. The cab will be the back-up if I fail...
Tried this cabfile in my O2 Orbit II but no joy with it.
It'll only work if your keypad.dll looks for this key, the only one I know for sure does is the HTC Fuze, since that's the one I disassembled to find the key

Oh okay, that explains why it's not working on my Touch Pro.. Anyone know the equivalent solution for a Touch Pro that's not a Fuze? >_>
If you could post your keypad.dll I can take a look at it..
this would be really handy to have, saves havin to install more software to attempt to stop it, a simple reg file is waaay better

Same here, no issue with it. My stock rom:1.90.401.1
hello people.i have the same problem with my htc p3470. i ll try the cab file and return to inform u
edit: no luck unfortunately....this is really annoying..
Works for me. Have the elite rc3 rom. Just had to soft reset after applying the reg edit for it to work. Thanx a million
Thx man it worked using the cab file
My phone is
1.90.405.1 WWE
1.0225.19
52.33.25.17u
Just installed the CAB on my TP - after turning the phone off and back on it works.
TP( ex vodafone)
ROM 5.05.405.1 WWE
Radio 1.11.25.01
Protocol 52.58.25.30U
i experienced this on my TouchPro as well - i ended up flashing other roms to it which made the problem go away.
the fact that this occurred out-of-the-box left a nasty taste in my mouth tbh smelt like the whole stock rom was a half-arsed rush job thank god for the likes of NRG.
I searched forums but never found a direct answer
Is this possible? I hope I got a really awesome hi def slider lock but the menu lock just adds on I really want to remove the screen "press menu to unlock" lock

O Am sorry i used search never looked where...
So its not possible or no one has been able to yet?
in theory if it hasn't been done yet we assume that it can't be done. but also in theory if you remove the keyguard xml from the jf build then you resign and reflash it should get rid of that screen. but don't take my word for it and brick your phone. i've been known to brick a few myself
LOL was searching it for (seriusly!) for hours... I downloaded also a slide to unlock but will remove it because it's useless (it works great but i have to click menu afterwards).

Are you running a Rom with tsm parts?
no its a stock rooted debloated deodexed rom... i dont like a lot of the tsm features so i didnt care to have it... if i need it to do this then is there a zip that will install it for me??
I would love to know how to remove it as well
I remember seeing something about codes you can punch into the dialer to duo such a thing. I can't seem to locate the link right now though

Maybe try this and once started install your lock screen?
Lockscreen: Agile Lock(has a free & paid version; paid is $1) - I would HIGHLY recommend this lockscreen for anyone who doesn't like the AOSP/Puzzle/Glass or just wants to use the HTC sense lockscreen(you know, the ring that has shortcuts and such). If you do choose this route you would need to follow the Androidcentral guide(http://forums.androidcentral.com/dro...en-charge.html) to remove your current lockscreen because all this app does is add a second lock to your phone, so you would need to unlock your phone twice if you want to get in. Before you do that BE WARNED this removes not only your lockscreen but your power button menu as well(you know, when you hold the power button to restart and boot into recovery). Instead it just powers your phone off, you can always re-enable your lockscreen very easily using the same guide so there's nothing to fear. This app has TONS of customization and is far superior to the zero customization the AOSP/stock locks have. I'd say the only issue this app has is the fact that you can't go to silent/sound like you can with the AOSP. Added picture(s).
Got that from here.

I do not know is this is the same link as posted above, but this works, the only problem I have is that if you hold the power button to long it turns you phone off. Takes so getting used to, but the lock screen is history after you do this.
Entering that dialer code is one of the first things I do after flashing any ROM.
That works with ANY ROM & completely eliminates the totally useless annoying unlock screen.
Like the previous poster mentioned, it does take a little getting used to so you don't accidentally turn the phone off with the power button by holding it down too long.

Just purchased a stock HTC One S and I cant seem to get the dialer keys (7) and (0) to work. Once on the voice mailbox it wont press key 7 to erase, or the 0 when inputing an area code per sei. Also, it seems that certain area of the touch screen is not responsive while trying to select options on the setting panes. Has anyone come across this? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Yes I already did a thorough research but wasn't able to come up with much. Thanks

it doesn't make sense rooting your phone to solve the problem if the display is broken.
its like, trying to replace your monitor by installing an update
but you can install the recent suitable RUU for your mobile from footballs thread and if the problem still apears your display is definetly broken

STOP don't do anything. If your phone has a hardware defect you don't want to void your warranty by unlocking the bootloader. Contact HTC or whoever sold you the phone and try to get a replacement.

Is it just the dialer or does that part of the touch screen not work anywhere else? If the actual touch sensors work elsewhere (IE: homescreen, keyboard, etc...) it is NOT a hardware problem. It is a software issue. Make sure you have the latest update installed (different versions based on carriers/countries). If the issue persists (again, if it is NOT a touch sensor problem) go ahead and root it or install a custom ROM.
EDIT: I must have skipped that sentence in your post. You obviously have a touch sensor problem. Go ahead and request a new device (if possible, depending where you bought it) or send it in to HTC. You can figure that one out on your own; we're adults here...
Has anyone been successful to disable this?
+1 for this, it is annoying.

Been trying for two days to fix this 'feature' but they have changed the file position of the code and am having trouble finding it. Oh well at least I've learnt everything I ever wanted to know about decompiling/ recompiling . lol
I'm gonna try again in a few days once my sister has gone home as this is the first time in a year I've seen her in a year.
Wish me luck
i'm also looking for a way to disable increasing ring tone , also find it very annoying .
Try headset button controller
Not sure if this is actually a fix but just did some quick informal testing and seems to work: install app headset button controller and under advanced options set the default volume when plugging in headphones to 65% or above. If someone else can verify this it would be awesome.

Good try but when plugging my headphone in with this active, the device notices the volume change and the warning comes straight up.
Thanks anyway.
Ah yes, after I rebooted and plugged in I got the warning. However it seems to only be an issue the first time after reboot, then looks like it's good to go. Just don't reboot
Not sure if it applies to this phone as I sport note 4 and am only browsing, but in absence of xposed mod, I use tasker. Also free app 'hearing saver' from play store works for me.
Note 4 ?

I've already tried this. Needs smali edit. But I've been unable to find the code for this function.
edgarf28 has managed to accomplish this in his ROM and I have requested a point in the right direction or even a flashable version (bit cheeky I know) he has also managed to incorporate 5 way reboot that I would really like help with to. Might have to go and beg him again .lol

I've simply flashed the alliance ROM. Very happy
In general, this issue still bothers me. At least in my car, in which I use an auxilliary cord, I've an NFC tag programmed to open Spotify and turn media volume all the way up using NFC Tasks/Tools. At least for me, this works to get past the warning initially, and is useful when I need to unplug then plug back in.
I would love to see a general fix that doesn't require rooting my phone; that sanctimonious popup drives me bonkers.
