waw asus p750
i just was reading about it and it look like my next killer pda.
110mm-58mm-15mm
marvel pxa27x 520 mhz cpu(i was hoping for Monahans)
3.2 mpx cam autofocus
gps + GSM/GPRS/EDGE and HSDPA
wifi+bluetooth
256 rom ,128 ram
keypad(better then p525 since the joystick is not in the keypad)and a jog dial.
fm radio
they took all my wishes and put then in one high end device called p750.
(i hope its not a smartphone edition ,didnt mention touch screen)
Asus learn with p525 ,p526 and now the top result is p750

Judging by the keys on the pad, there are no home buttoons, but it does have a start button, and an ok button, so I'm guessing it's a true ppc.

Anyone still want it, if the screen is 2.6"?

it says it sports a Windows Mobile 6 Professional Edition, which means its a Pocket PC. Smartphone version is Windows Mobile 6 Standard Edition.

Yeah, I'm aiming at it too
The joystick position I can say it's similar to O2 Graphite and yes it's looks nice that way compare to the current P525 joystick position.
Asus should come out a PDA with FM radio long time ago but it's never too late so let's wait and hope for the best from Asus.

CMIIAW, I thought P525 also don't have the home button? I go to home by clicking Start and then Today

Hope it's not true but hey, nobody is perfect
If the screen is really 2.6" I think I still can accept it over other great functions, eg. FM radio, 3MP, HSPDA, etc and hope it is a VGA so even it's 2.6" it is still look nice

HTC Engineers at Taiwan Trade Show

I am in Taipei this week and there is a huge trade show going on. Don't know the exact name other than it is next door to the Grand Hyatt.
HTC has a very large both with engineers so I had the great pleasure of talking with the HTC Design engineering guys.
Some conversation points:
The HTC Touch Cruise/Polaris is unknown on actual launch dates.
The HTC Engineerins know that Taiwan is getting the Polaris devices sometime in February.
TomTom software may or may not be on the device. It depends on the carriers agreements and the distributors packaging, sku's, etc
There is a Google software is being looked at and HTC does have a dedicated engineer working with Google and the SDK package for future devices. I did ask if we would be able to upgrade current platforms to the Google phone software and I got a 'probably not' response. (At least I tried)

Can you ask them if they thought Kaiser owners would use their GPS indoors when they blessed the device with transmissive LCDs

Sometime in February, damn HTC keeps pushing the release date away...

kinda silly to use google for gps if one
1. have to pay pr. mb downloaded
2. drive in places where gprs/edge/... is weak or absent

Exactly! This for me is the MAJOR question. Also about Kaiser....I'm still choosing which one shall I pick...
Please........try to clarify this issue once and for all....

I will try to back over there this evening to get a response on the DirectX question and the others.
Just to clarify, the Google SDK is for the new Google Cell Phone OS/ROM/Firmware. Not just GPS feature. It is called ANDROID and is the Mobile Phone Software that Google is hoping to be the alternative to WM5/6. Follow the embedded link to see the videos of the phone software.

I tried getting back over to the trade show but the engineers were already gone for the day. Sorry -

We may not get "official" upgrades but the kind folks around here will probably find some use for it.

I do believe that the odds for a free upgrade to 6.5 is possible. Just like 6.0 was upgraded to 6.1, so should 6.1 be upgraded to 6.5.
The only thing that would stop it would be if the device is too slow to handle the new version. But you shouldn't hope for a free upgrade to WM 7

Not to go off-topic but it is dispointing that we might need another upgrade just to get the new mobile IE 6.0.

Most people are of the opinion that these screen shots are fakes - due to the OSX icons being used.
Also, the 6.5 will probably be required for the new IE because of the HTML rendering engine also being used for Pocket Outlook, XML reading, etc.
I *believe* 6.5 should run fine on the current generation of HTC handsets... but WM7 is designed for the "next generation" of handsets - google nVidia's Tegra chipset to learn about this.

Not only that, but the battery and signal strength indicators are transposed on the 2 shots, and it looks nothing like the preview screens of WM7 we've seen. Also, MS like screen layouts to have a logical progression, and that honeycomb layout is rather... chaotic.
It's a photoshop, and not the best on either.

And it's even more simple than that : since when Microsoft put the phone function of these devices in the first place ? Putting Microsoft Media Player in the center of the screen is more correct lol
But there is a lot of other reasons and the first one is : what a new version of Windows Mobile and the first roms are not on XDA ? Impossible, XDA is the best !

it appears it was designed for iphone viewing and i guess the creator set it up to check for the browser and have a blacklist (it appears his blog not updated in some time, maybe chrome wasnt out when the he had the blacklist??? i dunno only guessing) so i assume changing the user agent on one of my mobile browser would make this site visible (unless anyone has a quicker solution).
i dont really want to change the user agent everytime so anyone know a imdb mobile app / quicker solution to use that site.

Just as an alternative solution you can use the ebook-reader TomeRaider3, as they have the imdb database as a free download on their site (approx. 158mb) to read offline

Will give it a try...but I think an online app would be even better

i thought it was rather poor though, and if i remember correctly it is quite limited in what information it gives you.
the proper site works not too bad though.

Just downloaded this for my HD2 its an upgrade of a slightly older one and runs great once you go into the settings and assign a video player for the trailers to play on. In my case i navigated to windows/ windows media player

There is a IMDB Mobile app, there is a cab of it on that site were not supposed to talk about, Its not brilliant but its a bit easier than using a browser...

Sorry, but I can't stand Bing Map anymore. Wasn't OVI Map suuposed to be part of the Mango update?

Well it should be connected with Bing as one service AFAIK. Without any OVI name.
I didn't see a single rumour regarding this. Seeing how long it takes Bing to bring service to more countries I wonder if it will take a year to come.

The Nokiasoft deal went official when Mango was already well underway so Nokia has zero input in Mango. That said, they could still offer Ovi Maps as a Nokia app. Also remember they said Nokia apps won't be exclusive to Nokia phones so theoretically you could still get Ovi Maps on a Samsung/LG/HTC. As for proper integration into Bing, I'd say Tango or Apollo update.

But navigon maps are good for US and Europe only. What about the rest of the world where Nokia maps is better for turn by turn voice nav?
