Suddenly on my Opal, the Send (green) button won't launch the keypad (dialer) even after doing many reboots.
WM6.1 user.
please help.
Well my obvious guess would be that the button is physically broken, otherwise, I haven't a clue
but i can still use it to answer calls... and my long press (assigned: rotate screen) is still functional.
after many wasted times of hard resetting and installing apps to trace what might have caused it, finally the keypad is back!
the culprit... Advanced Configuration Tool v3.3.
i'm still testing what setting in Advanced Config 3.3 that affects the green button...
oh well...

I was a bit surprised to just discover, by accident, that whenever I press any of the front hardware buttons when my device is in standby then the Touch Cruise doesn't completely ignore them, it switches on the button-panel lights for a while and then they go off after the timeout. For the red hangup key it also makes a beep when the button is pressed as well as activating the button lights.
As far as I can tell this is all the device does, it doesn't switch on the screen or activate any of the functions associated with the buttons I press (as far as I can tell) but I still worry that if I accidentally get the TC in a position in my pocket (when I'm driving or just sitting down for instance) where I'm constantly activating a button then after a few hours I could either drain the battery unnecessarily by keeping the button lights permanently on and/or I could crash the device by swamping it with button-pressed messages.
Do other people see the same behaviour when their TC is in standby and is there any hack to disable this?

Try going into Settings - System - Key Lock
and change it to the top option "Lock all buttons except power button"
Same suggestion - doesn't make a sound here
That DOES happen when he is locked and NOT in standby. Still then - the volume keys work which is not really desired but hey...
Thank you mouseymousey and SabbeRubbish. You fixed my problem, but not in the way you probably intended.
I'd just been narrow minded and assumed that, if this option was available, it would be in the Button settings app so I hadn't seen the Key Lock settings app. Thanks to you both I found this and, guess what, the top "Lock all buttons except power button" WAS set but my buttons still activated the backlight and sometimes beeped.
Confused, I changed the option to the bottom "Do not lock buttons" and it behaved as expected, i.e. any button press completely woke up the device. I then set the option back to the top "Lock all buttons except power button" and this time my problem is solved, i.e. no reaction whatsoever from pressing the front buttons.
Wierd. My TC obviously got itself into an odd state and toggling the button lock preference seems to have fixed it. I'll keep an eye on this one.
Thanks again for the invaluable advice.

I shouldn't let misleading info lie here so here's my confession. This issue turned out to be nothing to do with my device getting confused about its key lock setting. The fact that it fixed itself when I toggled the key lock setting was a coincidence, what I did at the same time as toggling the setting was to also close down Conduits PocketPlayer which I had still minimised and running (although not playing any music) in the background.
The problem appears to be with PocketPlayer (PP) and is 100% reproducible. If PP is still running (even minimized) when the device is put into standby then I get the behaviour described in my initial post, close down PP before going into standby and everything is OK and the front buttons are totally inactive.
I have of course filed a bug with Conduits but the good news is that noone needs to worry about any generic TC/WM6 wierdness here.

Before, when I pressed the call end button(red button) my screen would go black. This was good because I had keyguard enabled. Now I think one of the apps I installed took the ability to lock the device with this one button.
Is there some kind of registry edit or phone option which can make the call end button lock my device????
have you checked your keyguard and lock settings? what are they set to?
PROBLEM SOLVED. HTC HOME plugin seems to disable some of the effects of pressing the (send) and (end) button. If you enable Dial Lookup on the Today setting it fixes the problem.
Thanks mate, I flashed my treo over a year ago but I don't use him quite alot because of the red button problem. Never thought that the solution was so simple...
I searched for about 30 minutes before posting this.. in both diamond and touch pro forums and all over here.. I figure this is a common issue, but still found nothing.
Is there any way to lock the touch screen during a call? I keep doing things with my cheek. I've written notes, assigned pictures to contacts, etc.!!! It's getting old. Anyway to fix that???
Press the standby button.
I intsalled the reg edit No_Sleep_Raph this stops the phone going into standby for voicemail or phone banking.
The phone will blank the screen depending on the power settings I have or standbye button.
If I accpet a call I normally press teh answer button and while putting it to my ear press the standby button
That maybe a solution...
I would think they would've done something like the treo phones..
They've got a setting to lock the screen during a phone call until you press a physical button... Or something like that. Worked great.
How difficult it would be to program something like that?
Have you tried this?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=425650
I haven't tried that yet. From what I read it seems like it will be good for not answering the phone inside your pocket... I didn't see anything about it locking
during a call... But I may have overlooked that, and I would assume it is one of the settings.
Can anyone confirm whether this program will allow you to lock the screen during a call and allow you to unlock it with a physical button?
Sorry, can't help you with that as it doesn't seem to work with the latest ROMeOS rom but IIRC you had to remove the stylus in order to use the touchscreen.
wrong post, sorry.
Hey all, just got my TP2 and I'm really enjoying it. Its a hell of a lot nicer than the Titan and i760 that I've been swapping between the past two years. Quick question though:
Is there a command somewhere in WM6.1 that will allow me to soft-reset the device? I really don't want to wear out the plastic cover on the back by taking it on and off over and over again to press the reset button.
Thanks in advance,
Dustin
Someone correct me if I am wrong but I believe if you power it down with the red "end call" button and then power it back up with the same button it is equivalent to a soft reset. But if you are looking for a shortcut in windows to do that you can try the various task managers out there like pbar, wisbar lite, ect. They have soft reset options with a very small footprint on the memory.
You are correct. And technically speaking, using the power on/off commits all changes to memory.
I used SPB Mobile Shell 2.0 on my old phones that had a shortcut for it, but I wasn't sure if HTC had an equivalent. I'm really debating on switching back to SPB, but I hear that MS 3.0 isn't perfectly functional with the TP2 yet.
Thanks for your help!
Check this out. It gives you the option to soft reset on the norification when you hold down the power button. I like it.

Try ActionScreen
ActionScreen does this by popping up a selection screen when you hold down the power button for 3 seconds. There are many actions to choose from and one of them is Soft Reset. I've been running it for a few days and it seems to work fine and be unobtrusive.
ActionScreen: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=547432
I think there is a option on the setting manual "wipe all memory" or something like that.
On mine, by holding down the "End Call" button for 3 or 4 seconds, I get a prompt with the following options.
Display Off
Turn Off
Soft Reset
Hard Reset (icon on upper right (a little scary))
Plus icons for
Device Lock Settings
Setting timer actions
Setting Today Icon for this prompt
The prompts displays as Touch Pro 2 Shut Down Option
I have quite a bit of 3rd party software, but I believe this is native to the device. Try it and see what happens.
I don't get those, but I am on a custom rom. I have:
Turn Airplane Mode On
Lock Device
Terminate Data Connection
Set Vibrate
Settings...
sorry double post.
As mentioned these are the two most common:
psSHUTXP and XDAshutdown.
I used XDAshutdown.
Here is the thread:

Here is the best skin IMO.

I have attached all here
For applying skins for XDA shutdown:
Over write the files in this folder assuming you installed to a storage card:
\Storage Card\Program Files\xdaShutdown
The problem occurred not long time ago.
When i press on call button in thouchflo 3d People tab it does not start a call, but opens up call history.
Device: HTC Fuze (aka Touch Pro/Raphael)

After uninstalling SensorScroll v0.7.1 phone start act normally.
I'll try to find the solution to that in Sensor Scroll thread.

I've noticed that the calibration of the navpad can be a bit sensitive. Say if you swipe across it, it can throw it off, and make the buttons not work the way they're suppose to, this is because the 4 nav buttons are sign by where your finger is on the pad. I've tried a hard reset, and this happens a few time. opening the screen or locking/unlocking seems to reset it to work normally.
