just curious - General Questions and Answers

would anyone recommend trying the dual boot on a dash 3g?
i couldnt find any information about it working on non-touchscreen phones

Moved as not software release.

You mean the Gen Y dualboot?
It's only for XDAndroid, which is available only for phones like the diamond, touch pro, touch hd, etc.
So I don't recommend it.

Initially, I believe the Pro 2 will have a WM6.1 O/S, but probably a different/upgraded version of TouchFlo... HTC has already committed to having a WM6.5 upgrade for the Pro2 when it gets the 'official' version of the 6.5 O/S.

Welcome to the forum
TPro 2 can be a mixture of HD/TytnII/Universal and look great
And if wm6.5 does not come with it, I´m sure the update will be possible

Which one should I get? X1 vs Touch Diamond 2

Hi, I'm going to buy a new "phone" and I've read so many comparisions but I still can't decide with which one I should go.
I've followed the HTC phones for quite some time and recently I discovered the X1.
While I don't know very much about the X1, I heard that it has a dedicated graphic chip. Will any Windows Mobile application just use it or do the applications need to be exactly written for it? How fast is the interface? (for example, I hate how slow and unresponsive the Samsung Omnia interface was!) And is it as easy to use as the touch flo interface?
The only reason why I consider to get the X1 is it's keyboard, because there are a lot of emulators for Windows Mobile available but I won't be able to use most of them, JUST with a stylus.
So with which one should I go?
Or should I wait for the touch pro 2? Or another upcoming phone with even better specs?
Thanks in advance

Android on the TP2

Is there a thread for Android for the TouchPro 2
**Bump**
+1 on this?
I don't think anyone made one yet... I guess this could be it.
EDIT: Found this, but its for the GSM version of the phone instead.
Yeah nothing solid yet on Android for Rhodium
Don´t forget to vote Rhodium!

Seeing as a true Android CDMA rom is in the far off distant future I think we should all just stick with virtualization.
Luckily it seems that VMware is looking to answer our prayers and give us a true dual booting cell phone OS option. Not just that we'll be able to run these two operating systems at once! I'm sure the Touch Pro 2 shouldn't have a problem handling such a task.

Until then, sit back and relax. I'm sure we'll be seeing this before Windows Phone 7.
touch Pro 2 has a resistive screen. Ive only heard of android working on Capacitive screens. the HD2 has a Capacitive screen so it may work on that.

HTC Vogue (aka Touch) has a resistive screen... and Android works great with it. Capacitive versus resistive is a non-issue.
I really hope someone gets Android working. I have it on my XV6800 which feel in water so all my physical keys are not working. I have impressed a lot of android users with my phone and now I am looking to get the TP2.

Where can i get htc footprint for TP2 ?

is it possible to have htc foot print on tp2 WVGA verson
I don't actually know if there's a standalone version specifically for WVGA. I do know there is a tab version that works fine on WVGA since many custom ROM's have it.
I had it on my Touch Pro but didn't find it useful enough to try installing on my TP2.
Below are two links that point to versions that work on the original TP. It's worth noting that both are standalone and do not give you the tab.

Tilt 2 and Touch Pro 2 are the same phone, just for different carriers.
I have a Telstra TP2, running Froyo. It runs pretty well considering it's a 500MHz device with not much RAM. Don't expect the performance of a 'modern' smartphone though
