is there a way to replace my 1.5 lockscreen with the eclair version? i mean without the need for a 3rd party lock app? i see it can be done in 2.1 but i wasn't sure about a 1.5 build?

I'm not sure you can. I know some ROMS come with it but besides having lockbot I don't think you can do it without having 2.1.

I remember this coming up a few months ago, and I thought the 2.1 lockscreen on 1.5 was a no go...
What's the deal you drop 2.1 to get back to 1.5?
it's possible, but i doubt anyone is willing to backport the apk to 1.5 especially with 2.1 dropping within a few weeks. The nexus one news and weather widget was backported for example, but i dont think people are willing to put in all this effort with 2.1 around the corner.

stock android lockscreens are not apk.s they are in the codes you can run the stock donut lockscreen when on donut roms or enclair lockscreens when on enclair

and the reason i don't like lockme or lockbot is ...it's an app that doesn't fully let your phone sleep which drains the battery more.

mine slept fine with it installed but it laged to much for me to keep so i went back to custom locksceens from NOJ (for 1.5 roms)

kind of. for me it was too laggy for a replacement. i'd press menu and have to wait for lockbot to bring up the lockscreen. it was counterproductive for just a nicer looking screen.

exactly why i just uninstalled it after 48 hours of use...
also, its not treated like a regular lockscreen and my handscent messages were popping up over it even though i have the setting to only show after the lockscreen is removed which works perfectly again after uninstall... nice concept, but not refined enough for me...

+1 to everything above. Also it doesn't allow the adjustment of media volume when the screen is off.

I love the new lock screen for "Flan" (featured in some of the Cannon202's Eclair rom) but i want to stick with 1.6 since it seem like 1.6 run better on the G1 than 2.1. Any Dev out there that have some free time to port the lockscreen? I would appreciate it very much. Thanks.

New 2.1's with full hardware drivers will be showing up very soon. No point in wasting effort backporting pieces to obsolete systems.

After checking out lockbot the lockscreen i actually wanted is the Flan version, not Eclair.
flyscreen also uses the same lock screen with added features of course, just check that out...

I've yet to see a 2.x system which runs acceptably on the g1. The lack of physical memory is painfully apparent.

I have tried lockbot so that I could have a slide to unlock feature but using an app as your lock screen never works as well as a true lock screen.

And that is because you have not yet seen one with HARDWARE DRIVERS. Nothing to do with RAM, everything to do with SOFTWARE GL.

yea thats eclair 2.1 ... i believe it was also in 2.0.1(the driod update) ... and i dont think it will be portable to 1.6.. because if it was it would of been done already.. many people had asked for it when eclair came out..

I'm not convinced. At all. I did a fair bit of work trying to shoehorn Eclair onto the g1 when it first dropped into the source tree.. GL or no GL, it really struggles on this phone.
It is impossible to port a lockscreen to another version of android.

Its not GL.
It is DEFINITELY ***NO GL***.
I don't care how much you tried to "shoehorn" it in, you didn't have the GL drivers, and thus everything was running on the CPU... slowly.
Have a look in frameworks/base/opengl/libagl/
That is what is making it SO SLOW.
Having all that crap suck up the CPU and MEMORY.....
Do you remember when you bought your first 3D accelerator for your desktop computer? Back in the day? Probably a voodoo 2 or voodoo 3 in the late 90's... maybe even one of those crazy voodoo 1 things (or similar) that hung off the side of some other video card.... You remember how much of a difference it made?

The 3D accelerator is MUCH MORE EFFICIENT than the CPU at performing these operations. So lets say that about 1 cycle of the GPU would take 100 cycles of the CPU to replace.... now that will displace the CPU from doing what it SHOULD be doing.... thus making the thing slow overall.
Also... fact does not depend on convincing YOU.

I would be intrested on this to. You can run nexus one weather widget on 1.5, I'm hoping its the same for the weather app on 2.1 it can be brought to 1.5

Dude....most people here still use 1.5 based roms because they still have a camara. There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with having requests. That is what this forum is all about.....its not about complaining about what people ask for.

All I can say is WOW.....
I know I was using the Nexus One Weather widget with Darschs 2.1 rom before the whole eris leak. But haven't heard anything about it working for 1.5 or not. A good weather widget though I would suggest is snowstorm its on the market and has additional icon packs available for it too.

Yes they can be used with Sense UI.....most DEVS have updated their ROMs with the latest Rosies that now support LWP.
I've found the least lag with the zoomfield and mystify....although I'm quite partial to NexusMod 2.0
I've got nexusmod going right now and it hasn't seemed to cause any problems. Also Bezier and LiveFireWallpaper seem pretty cool and ran smoothly for me. (these 3 are all from the market)
The maps one is the only one that I might be willing to give up the weather animations for, but I haven't had a chance to try it out while I'm on the road. I'm a bit concerned what it might do as far as lag and battery consumption while buzzing down the highway.
I like zoom field and I really like the nexus mod but it doesnt stick after sleep what did you guys do to get it going?

Had to regrettably remove the HtchWeatherWallpaper.apk in systems/app
Everytime coming out of a sleep or unlocking the phone the weather wallpaper effects...kick the livewallper out.

im using DC 2.07 but I did change the rosie along with the lockscreen. im wondering if its not something to do with the fact that I took the HTCLockscreen apk from 2.06 becuase the weather animations dont kick in until you unlock it but the nexus mod dies as soon as I wake up the phone even before unlocking. are you using a clear lockscreen?
I am having the same problem. I wiped and did a clean flash and I cannot get the nexus mod lw to stick after sleep.

I like the Plasma live wallpaper. You can play with the settings to change flow rate, colors, intensity, etc.

Its not the lockscreen... I deleted my lockscreen and use vanilla, but it still doesnt stick on wake up.

Maybe its in the NexusMod apk itself.. You might want to look into that.
Compare it to the ones that do stick.

nexus mod is the only LWP i think is worth having imo but possibly something within the apk its self could be tweaked to help it stick
Same here, I deleted the weather.apk and flashed the new rosie on darchlegend and nexus does not stick.

ok it is something to do with the clear lockscreen. I went back and pused them one at a time starting with com.htc.resources.apk. still stuck after that, pushed back the clear HtcLockscreen.apk and it wouldnt stick anymore. now I have no idea whats so ever how to fix the problem but that is where my problem lies at least.

I partly agree.. I like the bezier and another one, but i prefer the NexusMod. Im going to pull the apk and see whats the difference.
is there a white aosp taskbar theme out there for a 1.5 rom based off of 1.5c or pancake?

Dude seriously, no one in their right mind should be running 1.5 anymore. The simple answer will be no. There is and will never be a white taskbar with 1.5. Reason being, all the files are odexed.

Until Toast releases his .29 kernel and Freshtoast gets bugs worked out I'm sticking with Overclocked Gumbo. It just freaking works. It's fast, stable and other than the market being ugly I don't see many dealbreaking differences.

2.1 is a beta and not final...1.5 is a final and rock solid. think about your statement.
personally im thinking bout going back to 1.5 myself.. 2.1 in all forms atm still has bugs..its kinda getting like flashing wm roms..lol since 2.1 is still beta that is.. with 1.5 everything works and its fast.. even co-pilot works..( still cant get it to work on 2.1 roms.) so really to me the only thing on 2.1 worth keeping is google nav. and the better market.. so fixxxer

This is going to be a 100% true no sense 2.1. this means sense frameworks will be gone and the BT wiimote will work. it will also run a million times faster than the sensleless roms now because im not just removing sense apps, ill be using 2.1 nexus eclair stock rom as base.
So until release tell me some app ideas and some theme ideas.

I love them both plus just glad to see the roms are starting to pop up really dont see what to hate about sense, especially now that there is the EVO....nice and smooth

its got the vanilla lock screen (i think thats the name) side scroll to unlock. Also has helix launcher. ASOP top bar which i also am a fan of.

Lol yes they do work i guess they arent attached to the system to function like we expect them to. I went into terminal emulator and i could use the capacitive buttons to type in it. Although i could only type 1 thing the whole time.

well im sure they arent broken, but when home does not take you to the home screen, menu doesnt bring up a menu, back doesnt go back , and search, well i dont use that sucker for anything, but when they dont to what they're supposed to do, they dont work.
