Last night I was going to bed and tried to set up an alarm for the morning after. I then noticed that my PDA doesn't respond to touches. Everything else works just fine. There are some ripples on the screen and they can be noticed if you view it at a low angle. Here's how it looks:
As a new user I'm not allowed to post a link so here is the image address-> img694.imageshack.us/i/csc0717.jpg
The devise hasn't been abuse in any way. It hasn't been exposed to high nor too low temperatures(outside yesterday evening was around -2 ~ -3 degrees Celsius). Although I think that the short call I made(less than 10 seconds) couldn't have been enough to let the cold damage it. After and before that it has been in my trousers pocket.
Can anyone tell me what could have done this?
P.S. Digitizer - my mistake
Can't tell you what is the problem with your device but if it's digitizer you can get a cheap one here http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.32150
it's just you have to wait a few weeks for it to come (at least I had to with some other things I bought on DX)
and I didn't buy this digitiser so I can't tell you more about it.
Hi!
have you put the screen protector on it anytime recently? If so, remove it and try again. I had this also once - bought and screen protector from the local HTC dealer, put it on (done it always so it wasn't the first time) and after a while I had the same problem as you. I did everyhting, hard resets, put a new ROM on..nothing. I also noticed the "oily spots" so I was frustrated. Finally I removed the protector and all of the sudden everything worked again.
I then bought a new protector and put it on very gently, I almost didn't push the portector on the screen and it works again. Still don't know if it was just a bad protector or what ws wrong. Try it..much simpler and easier than to go for a new digitizer.

The last time I've put a new one was November and to be honest I didn't expect it to last this long... after all a six-pack cost about $4
Can't try it now though cause the device is still in warranty and I returned in the shop for repair. I'm going to phone the guys there and inform them and I hope it works, cause they said that the problem is from the OS and reinstalling it will fix the problem. Don't think that it'll help but after giving it to them it's their problem to fix it I just want it working and if possible - faster
P.S. Did your digitizer stopped working at all or you'd have to push really hard to respond?
I have the same problem, I heated the screen with a air blower and the screen started responding. I don t think it is a permanent repair but at least it saves the day. This is my first day of repair so I don't know how long it will last.
End of april I tried extreme heat and cold on the screen and all of a sudden it started responding again. I still have that oily look on the lcd but it is working properly for almost 2 months now. (Just a quick update) (In the meantime I ordered spare LCD to replace it next time it stops responding)

Greetings.
I woke up this morning and my HTC touch pro wasn't at the usual place(my desk) so I call the phone to see where it is and it appears it was at a part of my bed where there's a piece of iron.
The screen is scratched pretty bad and the screen wasnt touch sensitive anymore when I was trying to move around in it.
Then I decided to restart the phone to see if that would help but the phone won't even boot up anymore.
Anyone know what I could do to get it to work again?
Also, where I could buy a new screen/how much one costs.
Thanks
Bump.. this is important :S
Thats weird that it won't even turn on. If it won't turn on it seems like something more serious that just the touch screen. If I were you I would try to get warranty replacement since its just scratches. If the touch screen were cracked then you'd be out of luck with warranty replacement.
I tried to buy a screen too but I gave up after I found out that the total amount is around 100 Euros to replace the screen and buttons...
And yes, it's weird that you could call your phone, but didn't manage to start it after reset. you definitely have to take it to service.
Try taking out the battery for like 10 minutes and putting it back in. Then Reboot...
Hello everyone,
Today i installed my parrot bluetooth carkit. And after i connected a couple of times my phone became unstable.
So unstable that i'm not able to tap the screen.....
I don't know what happened due that i have hard resetted the phone a couple of times and even switched from m-rom to energyrom 3.0 with the same results.
Only one thing that was strange is that the touch pro start up screen with the red characters in the right bottom.
That after i flashed m-rom to energy rom that the touch pro characters in the middle were still different like the way that are made in m-rom. With the addition : powered by m-rom
So this means that the phone doesnt format his core
Help please give me any advice.
UPDATE:When backlight is dimmed, it will be bright if i touch it once. Afterwards it will maintain the same.
I have tried several roms and tried to restore my SPL aswell, without any results till now.
I'm getting desperate now. Due that i stays in the screen of ALLIGNMENT, so i'm really not able to start up anything from now.
Have you dropped your device recently?
Try flashing a stock/shipped rom and hard-reset when after flashing the rom when you get to the "Tap here to set up your device" screen.
I have a OIL spot in the screen when i keep it in bright light.
This could be occured when the phone was inside my bag during my beach visit.....
I guess the phone turned liquid by the sun....
Does somebody ever experienced the same issue?

I have a oil spot, and the raster of the phone with little dots in visible in the ligt.
I have made a repair order at HTC.
Which didn't satisfy me at all!
They told me that it is not covered by warranty. I was shocked, this will cost me around 70 euro to fix, and my shop warranty is still valid. So i called the shop to explain this.
And they said if this is not caused by a user, we will change the phone, but first we what to have a diagnose from HTC.
So i decided to let HTC pick up my phone . They will have a repair time of 5 up till 10 days.
That's fair, but i'm not really happy with this situation. Because i think that the screen is the most harmful component. And this means that if this part fails that my phone becomes obsolete.
I will post my conclusion after i got my phone repaired.
I will return to the STOCK spl and the original rom just for warranty purposes.
dont tell them that you spilt anything on it or dropped it. Although they will be able to tell if there is water damage to the device you might get lucky and they won't notice.
Now is the oil spot from leaving it in the sun or suntan lotion getting in the device?

Nope nothing happened at all.
Thats the strange thing about this situation.
I was in the shadow of the sun and the bags were only filled with clothes. So it didn't drop or something else.
I was able to use my phone during the day.... and was getting more unresponsive during the time that went by.
So i will not accept any blame of myself, due that i have a warranty of 1 year from the factory which will not cover your display :S
But also have the store warranty... So i told the store that i will return the phone if there are any costs.
The store told me that they will wait on the diagnose of HTC which i have sent it to myself to reduce the time.
If the diagnose tells that it's not my fault, then i can return my phone probably.... He couldn't promise it due that i want to see the diagnose first.
So I will wait on HTC's conclusion.... And i'm afraid that they will try to blame me for it....
They better not I will be a pain in there arses
Hello, I have exactly the same problem. After flashing from energyrom 3.0 to Aurora, a few hours later, i couldn't get my phone out of lock. (slide a button to the right or left on your touchscreen)
I tried a soft reset, but the phone started up with the same locked screen. So, i tried a hard reset. From that moment on i got stuck at "align screen". I ve flashed several times with several ROM's but nothing. (by the way, whatever rom i install, the first screen always says: Energyrom by NTGZ28)
I used the trick to paste welcome.not on the micro card, to bypass the align screen. That works, but the touch screen doesn't work. I 've removed the protection of the screen, but that doesn't make a difference either. My device didn't fall, came into contact with water or anything that could harm the thing. Oh, when the backlight is dimmed, the screen reacts to tapping it. Please help me out ??
resolt the issue. Because of a lot scraches (spelled ok?), i removed the protective screen. When i put the new screen on, everything worked !

i had does as well and then touch screen stopped working..
had to replace digitizer, unfortunately had to replace LCD screen and digitizer at the end (was not able to separate digitizer from LCD)
So here's my issue. Yesterday, my phone started to give me a while screen full of dead pixels (pinkish color) randomly. I would turn off the phone, turn it back on and after 2-3 minutes it would crash again. Last year I dropped it and cracked the screen, so to me it was related to that. The phone works fine other than that (music plays when display fails. I did wipe it completely and reinstalled Kit Kat, it solved the issue temporarily but after 30 minutes it started again.
Today I decided to go check out a phone repair shop and ended getting my phone fixed by them. What this consisted of is a replacing the display and plastic frame. I picked up the phone and everything was perfect, new screen and display which looks and feels like new.
Now it's been about 5 hours and the phone started acting strange again. Now it's a lot less worse than before, but I still get the full screen of dead pixels. The display will go on and off (I guess it's trying to reinitialize or something) but always fails. So I end up rebooting the phone for it to work again.
The 2 times it happened after getting the phone fixed it was when I put it in my pocket to go from my work to my car, and then from my car to my home. So I don't know if it has anything to do with being in my pocket, that's why I came here.
So could anyone could shed some light on my issue here? Is my phone already dying? It's only been 13 months and I'd hate to have spent for a new display for basically nothing.
Replace the flex cable. If that doesn't work then it's an issue with the motherboard/screen, in which case you would have to guess between the two, or simply send it to LG and pay for a repair.
Hello,
So maybe you already laughed a little bit by reading the title of the thread.
I had a foam party yesterday and I was stupid enough to have my oneplus one in my pocket. After about 15 minutes I finally realized that it would be a good idea to put my phone away. When I came back home in the night everything was fine but when I woke up today the touchscreen wasn't responding (only physical buttons worked). So I tried to hard reboot the phone and then everything was working again.
But after some minutes of use, I noticed that a part of the screen was reacting strangely. I went in the setting to activate the "cursor route" and I saw that there is kind of a band in the middle of the screen (about 1 cm) where the tactile is not working.
I removed the back cover and noticed that is was a little bit wet inside .. so I put my phone into some rice.
I tried to see how the screen is responding in my recovery (twrp) and the problem is also there, so I'm pretty sure it's an hardware problem.
Do you have any tips or things I can try to do ? I just want to avoid the Oneplus RMA because I don't want to be without phone for 2 months ..
Thanks in advance !
PS : I'm running CM 11S (latest OTA) and I'm rooted.
Stop using the device at all, you're potentially doing more damage every time you use it while it's wet/damp. Leave it in rice for three days without touching it. After three days is up take it out and inspect the touchscreen again.
okey, so I leave it off in the rice. 3 days without phone will be hard
If I have to replace the tactile screen (without LCD), do you know if I have to use thermal tools ?

Lol, so it's a hardware problem that you soaked your phone ? Sounds more like a user problem.... Good luck trying to pass that on a RMA...Well good luck with trying to get a RMA period... lol

It'll be much longer without your phone if you don't though. And what @Cholerabob is right, what you've done to your phone isn't covered by warranty, warranty doesn't include damage caused by the owner.

If you read my post better, you will understand that I said I don't want to pass it on RMA. Of course I know that I will have to pay about 150e because it's my responsibility and it's not covered by any warranty. That's why I want to change the component myself.
And yes, it's an hardware problem because of a user mistake.
Try to make constructive answers next time at least.
Hi everybody.
I’ve had this phone for 10 months now and it’s been great. Yesterday, when i was trying to make a call, it was telling me that i am too close to the screen. I understood that the proximity sensor was acting funny, but I didn’t had time to look into it, because it was not covered by anything and it was in good light. This morning it was a short white flash when I unlocked it or when I was turning the screen off. It worked great all day after that. Then this evening i was using the phone and all of the sudden the screen started to flash white, then it would turn off fast and back on all white. It did that for 4-5 times, then it went in the state you see in the clip below. At one tine, it turned on like nothing happened for 3-4 seconds.
If i plug the charger in, it reacts normal. It's making the charging sound and it vibrates. Seems to be alive in the background, even though it's not displaying anything.
Does it have anything to do with the proximity sensor? Is it the ribbon cable connecting the display to the motherboard faulty? Should i just order a new display assembly?
Interesting, the next day seems to behave a bit different. I had remote erased it, i didn't want any of my personal data to remain on it.
I have found out that if the brightness level is low, i takes a few seconds until it starts blinking. If the brightness is high, then it does that straight away.
Ok, i will post a follow up for anyone else having the same problem. Now i can see that the display is damaged on the top left corner, the pixels are staying lit up bright. Now i can use it on low brightness for longer periods of time without flickering.
I have ordered a replacement screen assembly and i'm still waiting for it, as i don't have the phone under warranty. Looking forward to getting it fixed.
I have also ordered a replacement screen and will replace it when the shipment arrived. Have you found a repair manual for the screen replacement?
I have already removed the back cover of my phone and it seems it will not be so difficult. But it would be better to follow a manual.

I read this post now, I've got this kinda of broblem a month ago, but this happened only when the phone temperature became hot, I mean over 40°C, after a factory reset everything became normal, I no longer got high temperature and this problem don't appear, so at least in my phone it wasn't a hardware problem.

How was the teardown ? I can't find any videos on it. The axon 7 was a pain for me because the aluminum case was a pain to take off around the corners and got damaged a bit. Hopefully removing the back of the axon 10 is a little easier . Thanks for any info
