testing
After one week, swype become more and more attractive because of words it keeps in memory.
I write my sms and email more and more quickly!
Very good soft.....

Had the same problem with Dutty's Swype-CAB. Solved it by setting up my e-mail-account after installing Swype

The problem is that the installation CAB for Swype 3.9 replaces the file ModelName.txt in the Windows directory because Swype was licensed only to T-Mobile.
After changing this file resets email accounts (server addresses and passwords) and WiFi passwords. I am not sure if you also need to reconfigure SMS and MMS servers: can't remember if I did it off my head.
Swype is gorgeous!!!!

hmm...strange...after installing i had not to reenter my wifi and email-settings ?!

Same problem here... The pin passkey to my phone seamed to be reset after installation so even though i was 110% sure of the password it did a factory reset after 10 failed attempts and even cleared my SD card with all pictures and files etc!! (luckily enough i had most backed up)
I tried this twice with the same result... (second time i removed the SD card first though!)

Hmmm... I wasn't aware of the passkey problem.
Would you try removing the phone passkey, installing Swype, and then re-enabling it?

I'm having the passkey problem too after installing the cab.
I don't know what to do now lol, I can't get past the phone lock screen now. Tried a few soft resets but it didn't help.
I tried performing hard reset, but somehow I couldn't seem to do it.
Could anyone help me out a little ?
Thanks in advance. ^_^

hi,
same here after i installed swype, all email, wlan, networkshare usernames and passwords are gone. i read about the problem before, and saved email and wlan settings as xml files for use with sahimi oder sktools. networkmappings i renew, and passkey i didnt use at all.
im using 'lia ime' .cab to install swype.
regards mad

Holding Up/Down Volume buttons and pressing the 'On' button brought me to Red-Green-BLue-White screen.
On the top of the screen(Red colured area), something like these are written:
PB81100 HX-BC
SPL-1.42.0000 XE
MicroP(LED) 0x05
MicroP(TOUCH) 0x40
Gosh, I'm pretty frustrated now. Have I bricked my phone by installing Swype? DAMNNNNNN it...

Nah dont panic - you are on the bootloader screen by the sounds of things.
At worst you will have to hard reset or install another rom.

Wow thanks for the reply, feeling a tinyyyy bit better now.
How do I do a hard reset though if 'Holding Up/Down Volume button and pressing the 'On' button briefly' didn't respond with the hard reset warning message, instead that bootloader screen you mentioned ?
Any help is appreciated <3

did you do this?:
"How to perform a HardReset
Hard Resetting deletes ALL personal data and settings and restores your phone to factory default conditions as if you turned on the phone for the first time after purchasing.
1. With the device turned off, press and hold the VOLUME UP and VOLUME DOWN buttons, then briefly press the POWER button.
2. Continue pressing the VOLUME UP and VOLUME DOWN buttons until you see this message on the screen:
"This operation will delete all your personal data, and reset all settings to the manufacturer default settings. Press VolUp to restore manufacturer defaults, or press other keys to cancel."
3. Release the VOLUME UP and VOLUME DOWN buttons.
4. Press the VOLUME UP button to perform the hard reset, or press any other button to cancel the reset."

just soft reset your device, it'll solve your problems

for those with the pin problem, install Swype BEFORE syncing to the exchange for the first time or installing the pin.

I installed a file called Fixed-Swype-HTCBlackBird-3.9.10.10.5032.CAB and did not have the aforementioned problems.

Hi, My polaris is crazy, I notice some problems in the way the system is working, contact problems, weather home plugin, always trying to get information, problems with instaling programs, and now I can not enter in bootloader or make a hard reset, when I try it I see the tri color screen but disaper in less a second.
Any idea?
thanks
Did you ever read the manual that came by your device.
They have a troubleshooting section too.
You could also give more specific info on :
- contact problems
- weather home plugin
- always trying to get information
- problems with instaling programs
That would really help us to figure out if you are the one that are doing things not the right way or if it is your device that malfunctions.
PS: don't feel attacked by this post, it's only for making you understand that when you provide little info, we can't really help on the problem.
solved
Problem solved guys,
DonĀ“t fell atacked I undersyand you,
Yes the device was not working good, so I make a Hard Reset, and now everything is ok.
Thanks
Resets Not working
I cannot do a Soft Reset or a Hard Reset on the HTC Touch Cruise (Polaris)
Individually,
Pressing the camera key on the right side does not work, throws an error message - Unable to initialize Camera. Failed to set up the camera device
When I use the Stylus to do a Soft Reset, nothing happens.
Pressing Messaging/GPS + Internet buttons and Soft Rest = No Result.
Any other ways to do a soft/hard reset? Is clear storage ok to do a hard reset, and with a cooked ROM. Thanks for the answer
sraaj, the same problem for me. Did you solve the problem?
Thanks!!! Press and hold the Explorer and GPS button (under the phone buttons), and at the same time press reset with the pen worked perfectly for me. I recovered the phone after I broke it when installing a game.
Thanks,I can hard reset naw

No Sound polaris xda orbit 2

ok..recently aquired this phone...
I've discovered that there is no sound from the speaker at all, no mp3 alarm ringtones .... I've used the slider on the side with no luck, and also tried changing the profile, volume control ect...no luck
Does anybody fancy talking me through any possible fixes for this...
Somebody suggested a hard reset?.... Any suggestions on doing this?...
Is this likely to be a software / registry change to fix this, or is it likely to be a case of sending it back for repair?... I'm sure its under warranty... but if its not, any suggestions on where I could take / send for repair?.... I'm in the Beckenham, bromley, south London region....
I have a basic understanding of pc's, but am not confident of doing registry changes without step - by - step instructions....
Anybody fancy a challenge?.... Thanx in advance...
PS.. just curious...any reason why this forum site is very simular layout to AV Forum site?....
Bump......

...did you go to Start Menu->Settings->Personal Tab->Sounds & Notifications to make sure that you've Enabled Sounds for Programs? a Hard-Reset certainly seems to be the option of choice here if nothing else is working. you can perform the Hard-Reset by selecting Start Menu->Settings->System Tab->Clear Storage and then follow the prompts to complete the process.
Nope...hard reset didnt work...just to say... I can hear through the earpeice when speaking in a phone conversation...just no other sound at all... even tried the option for beeps or clicks when using the keypad and still no sound... Also...that bootloader option...It just takes me to a screen with 4 different coloured stripes and some writing..I'll try it again and post what it says, but basicly it just freezes, then I have to do a soft reset to get the phone back on....
Bumpity bump....

Update...
I've done another hard reset using this method....
1) Get your stylus and place it in the hole next to the USB port, BUT DONT PUSH! Just get it ready but dont actually push the button inside the hole.
2)Place your fingers on the Windows and OK buttons
3)Press and hold the buttons, dont let go.
4)Stright away push the stylus into the hole and press the button inside. You can let go of the stylus once the button inside has been pushed
5)Keep holding onto the Windows and OK buttons
6)After 5 seconds let go of the Windows and OK buttons
7)If asked to press SEND, just press the green pickup call button.
....
And still no sound!....
Any ideas?
Yes that's the correct procedure, strange about that sound though.
What ROMs it running?
Any clue about what it might be?....
hang on I'll find out........
ROM Version. 1.25.206.3 WWE
Is that the latest Rom..Would it be worth updating if there is a newer version?....
Is that an official ROM or cooked?
I think its official...
you could have a hardware problem...i would have sent it back for a replacement 3-4 days ago!
I cant, bought it second hand. Will take it back for refund if I cant get it fixed...just thought it might be a common problem with a easy fix!...
i believe you've tried most options without any success. the only other options are to open it up and see if maybe the speaker has been dislodged. not sure how easy that would be. good luck!
OK.... thanx anyway!... Damned tiny little screws inside...cant get to the speaker... Ok...off to the shop it goes!
No sound
I had this problem on another HTC device 'the Kaiser' and was informed some specific Roms are not compatible with the radio on the device ( does your device have the original Rom? ) Flashing a new may have caused this problem.

Help!!!! O2 Orbit Stuck in Boot Mode

I installed HTC Home Plug In (to SD card), HTC Customizer (to SD card) and a battery indicator in the Windows Start Up File. These are all apps I had installed before on previous devices including my HTC 3470 and AT&T Tilt -with no problem. It shows the O2 start screen, goes to the Windows Mobile screen, vibrates and then starts all over again - screen goes blank, O2 sreen, etc. Any ideas on how I get out of boot mode would be great. I know how to do Hard SPL, Flash a ROM etc. However, I can't get it out of the boot mode to flash it.

[Q] sense malfunction...help please

Hi,
I dont know what happened but since this afternoon (no matter how many times I perform a soft reset) sense is unable to start. I cant even navigate my phone. however I can still send and recieve calls but that's it.
Does anybody know what caused this? Although I install various software on an regular basis I'f never flashed the standard ROM.
Can you please tell me how to perform a hard-reset if software doesn't allow me to?
quote from the manual:
"To perform a hard reset
1. With the phone turned off, press and hold the VOLUME UP and VOLUME DOWN buttons, then press the END/POWER button shortly and release it. You will then see this message on the screen.
This operation will delete all your personal data, and reset all settings to manufacturer default. Press VolUp to restore manufacturer default, or press other keys to cancel.
2. Release the VOLUME UP and VOLUME DOWN buttons.
3. Press the VOLUME UP button to perform the hard reset, or press any other button to cancel the reset"
However before you do that, you could try disabling sense + soft reset + enabling sense -> this helped me few times when my sense wouldn't start.
The question is can you get to Start Menu / Settings? or - if not - does your ActiveSync work?
Some info from the Htc website..
Performing a Factory/Hard Reset You can return your phone to its original state, as it was when it left the factory. This is also called a hard reset. You might want to do this if you are giving your phone to a friend or relative and you want to remove all your data first, or if your phone has a persistent problem that is not solved by powering off the phone and then powering it on again.
A factory reset is a drastic measure. It permanently erases all your personal data and customized settings, and also removes any programs you have installed. Make sure that you have backed up the information and files you want to keep. For information about ways of backing up your phone, see the following topics:
Synchronizing With Outlook on Your Computer
Backing Up Your Phone Using Microsoft My Phone
Performing a factory reset via settings
The most convenient way to do a factory reset is via the phone settings.
On the Home screen's Settings tab, tap Menu > All Settings > System > Clear Storage.
Enter 1234.
Tap YES to perform the reset, or tap NO to cancel the reset.
Performing a factory reset using phone buttons
If you cannot turn on your phone or access the phone settings, you can still perform a factory reset by using buttons on the phone.
With your phone powered off, press and hold the VOLUME UP and VOLUME DOWN buttons.
While holding the volume buttons, press the END/POWER button briefly and then release it.
When you see a warning message on screen, release the VOLUME UP and VOLUME DOWN buttons.
Press the VOLUME UP button to perform the reset, or press any other button to cancel the reset.

Tnx guys but no luck, when phone is off and I hold the volume buttons then briefly tap power button the damn thing turns on...the the whole crap starts all over again...nothing works except sending and recieving calls...
ok, before you attempt to loose all your data, try copying unpacking the attached file to your Windows folder - it can be done with ActiveSync,
if I did not screw up, once the file is copied there, long-press of phone button should bring the today settings, where you can try to disable sense, and see what happens then...

Agree 100%. I backup regularly but now I cant even hard-reset so that's not my problem.
Until now a hard reset always worked. Putting your (p107r0) file in the windows folder at least gave me the uportunity to disable sense and grand me access to the settings. But the touch screen seems to suffer from this virus too...when I try to purge my stored info (entering 1234) the keyboard shows what key I press but the number doesnt appear in the textbar...
Even trying to install a cab doesnt work. I can find everything on the phone but tapping does nothing...
I'm very close to flushing the phone down the toilet or something...
I feel your pain (1 month with overheating mainboard), but don't flush it yet
try the second method for HR - the one where you start with both vol keys pressed
