Hi,
I use Outlook for years now and saved a lot of mails. All of this mails are saved usinf the extension .msg with unicode formatting.
On my old Windows Mobile phone I had no trouble opening this files. But my HD2 doesen't seem to be able to open them.
I tried using different applications to read the file but none of them seemed to work(using myExtension software).
I wanted to know if there was a way to read these mails on my phone?.
Thanks
Up
nobody knows how I can open .msg extensions?

Hi
I have a problem with ONLINE created and sent e-mails from GMX (Freemail --> http://www.gmx.net/) which do have an empty subject line.
If such e-mails are downloaded on my PocketPC (Qtek 2020, ROM v.1.72.01GER), their "from" field is empty, they of course have an empty subject line but unfortunately also have no message text - they are all empty!
E-mails with a subject, also sent from GMX ONLINE, are readable on the PocketPC as well as any E-Mail (with or without subject) sent on a Desktop PC with a client like MS Outlook.
Now, if I download the e-mails, which are unreadable on my PocketPC, with my Desktop PC (MS Outlook), they are readable on the Desktop PC but instead of an empty subject line the contain the subject "=?ISO-8859-1?Q??=".
GMX Support said, they didn't change anything at the format of the e-mails, but I think they actually did as this problem exists since one week only. Before, the receiption of ONLINE sent e-mails from GMX went without any problem on my PocketPC.
Does anybody have the same problem and/or have a solution for that?
Thanks alot in advance!
Jeff
Hi Folk,
it is not easy to explain, as I also do NOT know when in happened,
the problem is thas some of my notes are not any more readable in Outlook (I use 2007) but they are in my Polaris, and even after hard reset of Polaris, they can be red properly on my phone but not in Outlook,
In Outlook they also changed the icon, it i now a sort of mic and by clicking on it the VLC is starting :? :? :?
any idea, any solution?
Thanks
Isidar
First of all, I would check your advanced settings in ActiveSync. Some files are converted when they are transferred between a PC and Mobile Device, as you no doubt know. Perhaps you need to alter one of the conversion settings?
As for the icons, this may also be the same problem as above (converting them to the wrong format). Alternatively, check options in your Mobile Outlook. On the last page of options you can choose which icon is used, perhaps this is related?
Let us know how you go.
Hi Jadel,
thank you for your answer, I checked the settings on my sync, every one is left with the same .xxx in Laptop and in device, so that cannot be the problem.
I really did not find the exact .xxx suffix for the NOTES, it is not recongnisable.
Also the Icon it IS depending on the suffix, and the strange thing, is that only some of the notes has changed in Outlook and not all ...
May be I could change the suffix somewhere in the laptop, but I do not know where the notes are stored (I thing they are part of the .pst file of Outlook, and cannot be found on their own)
So I still am without solution, ahhh in the device (Polaris) all notes are displaied fine ...
strange thing ...
Hi to all,
no one any idea ... am I the only one who happened this?
...
tks

Might be same problem...
I have HTC HD mini with WM 6.5. Active Sync 4.5 (WinXP SP3) at work and Windows Mobile Device Center (Win7) at home.
After synchronizing Notes, Notes on PDA not readable more. Outlook Item file converting to .pwi file.
Settings on my sync, every one is left with the same .xxx in Laptop and in device.
Hi,
I would like help in how to transfer my contacts and sms messages from my sony ericsson K310i (Java based) to Samsung I8000 OmniaII (Windows Mobile based).
As for transfering contacts, i tried copying all my contacts to sim in my K310 then copy to phone on the I8000, i get weird entries in the form
LastName;FirstName/M (M: for mobile, W for work)
and it recognizes all that as a single name, i.e. if i want to edit the contact, LastName;FirstName/M will all be in the First Name field.
I think there might be a solution using K310 and a PC but i don't have a data cable and it's hard to get one currently.
Any help would be appreciated.
transfer contacts to Omnia II
if you can save your K310i contacts to a .vcf (vcard ) file then there's a windows mobile utility "vcard expert" available from the microsoft & samsung app stores that will transfer your contacts onto your Omnia II with correct formatting.
You could send this vcf file as an attachment in email to yourself then save the attachment to your device and load into the app. So you wouldn't need any data cables to do the transfer.
Thank you for your reply, it helped even if not directly. i forgot to say that i'm missing the K310i data cable not the OmniaII one (so its impossible to export contacts from K310i as the only option available is via infrared), but your info regarding .vcf files gave a new terms to my google searches.
I found an old infrared adapter. I tried first the option to export via infrared from the K310i and got a .vcf file, which when imported in outlook gave me just the first contact (although i opened in a notepad and saw all contacts there), any solutions there?
I then managed to use "My Phone Explorer" to sync contacts with outlook, then sync OmniaII with new contacts.
Now the only thing remaining is that i need to transfer my messages to the phone. My phone explorer can export messages in .sms/.csv/.txt file formats. I tried imobiletool sms backup to restore a .sms/.csv files but without luck (the WM program will not even see the file. and the pc program will give "file validation error" when tried to import). Any insight as how to import .sms messages?
Edit: I found a program that can split the single vcf file into multiple files each one for a contact, callud suppcom vcard splitter. still outlook has no right to refuse the single vcf file!
Edit: Its damn annoying that all the SMS backup/restore programs i found only restore backups created by the same program...sigh, is there no standards or compatibilty between programs??
Anyone have a solution to transfer sms to windows mobile phone, please?
i believe this is a common request but i have not found a good solution.
i dual boot from winmo 6.5 to android and want to sync SMS between them.
contacts are easy through gmail.
i have seen solutions using export csv/xml, some sort of file text string manipulation, then import but all a bit convoluted. ok for a 1-off transfer.
i do not want to replace either of the databases, only import/merge.
anyone have an easy(ish) answer. must be able to handle folders. paid for progs are not a problem but free is always nice
