I had to replace the digitizer on my Touch pro and decided to try it myself. One problem- the lcd screen was fuzed with the digitizer and I couldnt get them apart. i ended up messing up the screen in the process. I am getting a new lcd, just waiting till it arrives. My question is- when I go to put them both in, how would get them together like that, or will i just have them pressed together then installed in the phone they will work? Idk. any help would be appreciated. I just got this phone and Im looking forward to using it once its fixed.

I cracked my screen a few months back, and right after it happened I bought a new digitizer to replace the cracked one. The install didnt go very well, since the tape used to adhere the digitizer to the LCD got mangled during removal of the original digitizer. Dust ended up getting between the LCD and Digitizer etc. One other problem I ran into was that the LED's that are supposed to illuminate the home/menu/back/find buttons were now shinning up into the screen and washing it out.
Anyways I got fed up with the dust and bought a new fully assembled screen/digitizer off ebay. I installed it last night and everything is great except that the lights are still shinning up through the glass and washing out the lower inch of the screen. I dont see why this would happen as there is really only one way to put it all back together.
Any insight as to how to get the lights to stop doing this?

Hello all I hope someone here can guide me because I am at a loss.
A couple weeks ago I cracked my screen and have been searching for a replacement
Digitizer since then but everywhere I look is either out of stock or comes with the
LCD (which I don't need ).
I know this is a bit forward for my first post here but I am hoping someone
may have a suggestion as to where I might be able to pick one up so I can finally get my phone back to it's
original glory.

In htc digitzer and screen are unity, so if you have problem with touch, you have to change all screen.

From what I have read the glass and the digitizer are one piece but it is possible to separate the LCD in this guide :

Problem is every website I have looked at the glass/digitizer is out of stock and it's triple the price to get it with the LCD.
you can't separate, because in amoled all layer are connected in fabric.

i repair phones for a living. and i'm telling you, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO TAKE APART THE DIGITIZER AND LED!!! most new htc phones, like the iphone 4/4s and newer samsung phones the glass and display come together. yes, it is possible to take them apart, it's more hassle then it's worth, you are almost guaranteed to break your display (unless you've done it a few dozen times) and then when you try to put everything back together, it will not fit together right because the LED will be warped by your pulling and bending it out of the frame. also, any part you see sold as just the digitizer is either not the correct part and even if it fits and works it is not OEM

First, the story:
I dropped my phone and broke the screen. The screen is always black now, but from the sounds the phone makes, it sounds like it is still working.
This place has instructions for replacing the touch screen digitizer and the LCD; they also sell these replacement parts (for $40 and $35 respectively), (I had to obfuscate the URL to post this, so replace the underscores with periods):

I'm not quite ready to move on to a new phone yet, so I am planning on trying to fix this myself. I guess my other option is to see how much it would cost for TMobile to fix it for me, but I am guessing that they want too much. My phone is rooted (s-off) and running a Bulletproof 1.1 image.
Now, my questions:
Has anyone here successfully been through this process? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I have not yet attempted to disassemble the device to futher assess the damage, so I do not know exactly what is broken, although the glass is certainly broken, is this what is referred to as the "touch screen digitizer"?
LCD is the actual display. Digitizer is the glass that sits on top of the screen (the part you touch)

Replaced the glass (digitizer) without issue. returned the phone to t-mo since prior to that it was having an issue with the hardware camera button being stuck always on. So long as you're patient, technical, and have a steady hand, do it, it's fine, just follow-the step-by-steps, and keep your screws and parts seperated at each step
I ordered a new LCD and digitizer, and will probably have some time to do the repair mid-late next week.
I went with the Sony version of the LCD based upon discussion in the following thread (in the 3rd post iynnoji says they tried a Hitachi LCD but it did not work):

It would be nice to know if the Hitachi LCD is incompatible, or if iynnoji had a bad component or some other issue.
Anyway, thanks for the feedback gtmaster and eclipsed. I'll update this thread after I attempt the repair. I have to admit, I'm sort of glad I broke my phone, since learning to fix new things is such an enjoyable process. Hopefully I'm still happy about this process after I finish the repair and attempt to power the device on .
Yay! The repair was successful! Not having a cell phone really made me aware of how useful one is. Next time I upgrade I'll keep my old device around as a backup.
So some notes:
The screen assembly was really difficult to remove, due to the large amount of adhesive. When I took it off, the LCD split in two, with half attached to the screen assy and the other attached to the adhesive. Luckly I was intending on replacing the LCD anyway. Anyone else performing a screen or LCD repair should beware that this is a difficult step, and will take time and care.
The Sony LCD (P/N 60H00523) works fine with our device. As I previously mentioned, it would be nice to know if the Hitachi LCD (P/N 60H00512) works, as its $15 cheaper.
I wasn't careful enough when placing the LCD on the digitizer, and managed to a few dust particles sandwiched in there. Not a big deal, but if I were to do it again I'd check my work before assembling the rest of the phone.
I used the adhesive paper sold at repairs universe around the edges of the digitizer and put the phone in the oven @ 170 F for 5 minutes after assembly, then waited 10 minutes before using it. Everything seems solid.

LCD splitting sounds messy I replaced my digitizer and there is loads of dust under it now. Gonna get it professionally done.

Hello my beloved community... today I screwed up, and I hope you can forgive me.. I was going to the pool and had my Shift wrapped in my towel.. walking down steps it dropped out and landed on concrete and well.. you can see in the pic :/ I'm not sure how my phone contracts are doing right now and whether I can get the One anytime soon or not, but for the meantime I'm using a Samsung Intercept, ikr kill me already. The reason I'm not using the Shift is not the cracked screen. That doesn't bother me. Was even thinking about replacing it, the problem is, which you may be able to tell by the pic maybe not, is there is lines going all across the screen from left to right, similar to a tv's static, if I slide out the keyboard halfwayish it goes away, but all the way and it comes back. It makes the phone unusable. And idk if it'll be gone even if I replace the screen. Somethings telling me its the flex cable, maybe loose or damaged? Idk I wanted to get your guys' input. What do you think?

I'm no expert but it might be the display. I have a non cracked but not fully working digitizer (there's a spot in the upper left corner not responding) and display I can send you if you want.
Well the Digitizer is smashed up big time. You could replace just the Digitizer, and hope all is good. But after doing this process a few times. I would suggest replacing both the Digitizer, and the LCD as an assembly. Also, once you have the Shift apart. Make sure to inspect the Flex Cable thoroughly. If it is compromised, I would replace that also before reassembly.
I had my phone in my back pocket and sat down, when i took my phone the screen was broken. I've been going back and forth with Alcatel to get a solution or something to no avail. I found a screen with a digitizer on ebay that i'm about to buy. Does anyone know how to take off the cracked screen?
It's nearly impossible to remove the screen without further damaging your phone. Most of these phones use glue to keep things together and they really aren't very serviceable. You could try to find someone who has experience with replace phone screens but i would not try this yourself.
I really don't know why people keep phones in their back pocket. It is just asking for trouble.
