I may have solution but I'm afraid to post it here, and one has the strength to test it.
it will writ the SPL using pdocwrit;, but I'm afraid cause when read the SPL it will have the same begining of the SPL in nk.nbf but after a while it will have diffreneces, but when I read the SPL using r2sd command it will have the smae SPL in nk.nbf
and I have harmless SPL solution it will have the same version 3.08 but it will be the same as 2.20 if anyone intrested in this please answer me

this will upgrade to version 3.09.
if done succefuly this new 3.09 has the same functions of 2.20 SPL
so if one has unlocked G3 with 3.08 and success to upgrade 3.09 (2.20) please try to unlock CID the device and to install the 2.20
and if it works with G4 device this 3.09 has the same funtions of 2.20 and the device will be again PM300
till working in pdocwrite I hope this will work for now

I put my spalsh screen to make sure that you flash the new SPL
cause it will flash firt SPL then new splash screen and new HTC Logo in order.
did you get any error message? please tell me, what device model you have now?

what is the diference between 2.20 and 3.08,i mean functions?
the functions in 2.20 is for prophet hardware and 3.08 are for charmer hardware and there is of course defference between them
3.09 is for prophet hardware the same as 2.20 and you can stay with it for your prophet

There is an item on the WiKi about this. Is there any big reason why you want to though? Because any damage done during this process is very hard to rectify...

The easiest way to do that is to flash a WM5 Official ROM such as the Orange one (they are all available on the FTP server).

I have the same problem
You must make a goldcard, in order to avoid the CID check, when running the RUU file of the new ROM. I have to warn you that you' ll end up with the 1.76.0009 perfected SPL, but on the other hand you are already stuck to a perfected SPL (1.33.0014). If you want to downgrade to a non perfected SPL (using a goldcard), you' ll have to wait until a new HTC ROM is published or someone finds an exploit to the current SPL.
You can find a tutorial, on how to make a goldcard as well as the link to the RUU, in my blog. It's in Greek, but you can use google translate on the sidebar to translate it in your language.

Just today I downgraded my device to HardSPL, but I couldn't find any information on whether or not my phone would work with HardSPL. Flashing the HBOOT and radio is a risk process, because a wrong combination can brick a phone.
So I am requesting for a list of working HBOOT and radio combination to be setup in a wiki or something like giant chart.
It would be nice to be able to simply input the device id and have the form return a list of compatible HBOOT and radio combinations or vice versa.
Or alternately just what DOESN'T work.
Would I have more luck asking on Android Spin?
We all know that SPL 1.33.2005 doesn't work with the 1 series radio. Does Hardspl with the 3 series radio? Does SPL 1.76.0009 work on Dreams?

I was in your exact same position and it took me four or five weeks to find a solution – I did read that one of the rooting guides on the cyanogen wiki did work, but I know that I had the same HBoot details as you.
You will need to get another SD Card to make a GoldCard there are a lot of steps to follow but it is worth it – just make sure you follow the GoldCard instructions closely

after many many hours searching i find solution!
i root it without Goldcard method or flashing SPL.
for those with same SPL as me i found right sappimg.img that works with my SPL verison.I chose tutorial at unlockerz "How To: Root the HTC Magic in One Click!" now you can make cupcake 1.5 without "wrong Main Versio" or "Wrong Model ID…" i use unlockerz tutorial to cupcake..those 6 steps.
becouse im newbie at this forum rulez dont let me post link of those file.Nme of that file is "vf-sappimg-crc24-1.33.0007.nbh" try google it or PM me i can send link by PM.
im happy to done it without any risk of phone.
