Problem flashing UK Vodafone HTC Magic....

I'm following the HTC Magic CyanogenMod install Wiki (http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php/Full_Update_Guide_-_MT3G/Magic_Firmware_to_CyanogenMod) but I cant get the first part to work I've downloaded the sappimg.nbh file and copied onto the sd card and booted the phone into safemode? (the bit with the skateboarding droids...) and I can get to step 5 but trying to flash the image gives me the error:

Sorry I should of phrased that better I just want to load the Cyanogenmod on the phone but the wiki says that I need to downgrade from donut to cupcake to be able to flash it with the custom firmware

i have the same problem...
i cant do enything... dont see my device but when i put in CMD - adb devices then the pc seeing my phone and see the serial number
this phones with UNKNOWN 32B from vodafone cant flash root or enything you must have the GOLDCARD settings to your sd card
and then you can flash an other RADIO and then you can put the recovery and the roms
i sittin here with my magic on the 1.6 Android
and want a hero rom
hope you cvan do this....my englische is not so good and cant do enything to get it work

I take it no one has achieved this yet, I to am looking to root my UK Vodafone magic with a SPL 1.33.0007 but it seems no one has quite cracked it yet. Or that is the impression I get from reading threads here about the "perfected SPL".

i didnt install cyanogen recovery. i installed amon'ra, this is how you do that
get amon' ra recovery image from

Copy recovery-RA-sapphire-v1.5.2G.img
to the root of your sdcard
start the terminal app
$su (not required if you have root already)
#mount -a
#flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery-RA-sapphire-v1.5.2G.img

Hi all,
I had problems following the Cyanogen wiki the other night, some grerat guys in freenode IRC on #cyangoen helped me manage it, a few incorrect instructions.
Im not using the perfect SPL or whatever but I managed to root & put on the latest cyanogen release.

Its seems up to now there is no solution to root the machine after i read tremendous articles.
The is no difference between bricked and unrooted magic coz too many restriction applied.
I am so disappointed with my Gphone..coz its not a convenient phone for everyone which somehow i think WM is much better...at least you dont have to go through a complex procedure to gain higher acess right which i belonged to..
Anyone know how to rooted this crap? Please tell me with many thanks !

Don't post messy thread!!! If you don't understand process of flashing, you will probably kill your phone.
Read forum, try to get more patience.
After all, you can simply flash any ROM with tag [radio 6.35] - CursorSense, Gyd [6.35] or other... they are with root

OHow can you flash any Rom when security status is on ?
S-on .pls tell me!? Others said h-boot 1.76 version is a prefect spl. I just wonder you can flash any Rom sucessfully

You must be kidding!
You wrote that you have HBOOT-1.76.2007 which is an engineering SPL with S-OFF (it's even written on the first line of the fastboot info you provided). The one people have problems with is 1.76.0007 which is a perfected SPL. You should read more carefully next time.
You can already do everything you want with this phone and I'd be surprised if you didn't have root access already as the installed system is probably Cursorsense (this is only a guess but it's been the only one able to run on this Radio version until recently). I'd also bet there's already a custom Recovery on it (boot the phone holding home+power to check that).
With this setup you can flash any ROM that is compatible with the 6.35 Radio but you can also revert to an older Radio/SPL combo if you need to.
Check the main thread about this setup. It also explains the downgrading procedure. Check the wiki if you need more basic knowledge before proceeding.

just flash the proper recovery and rom and ur done

some android application is very useful and handy..all i need is to rooted the phone in order to run those application.

For now there is no way to change the 1.76.0007 perfected SPL and so you can' t gain root privileges. You' ll have to wait until a newer ROM version is released from HTC, in order to use the goldcard method to change your perfected SPL. Or until someone finds an exploit for the particular SPL.

I have the same problem

You must make a goldcard, in order to avoid the CID check, when running the RUU file of the new ROM. I have to warn you that you' ll end up with the 1.76.0009 perfected SPL, but on the other hand you are already stuck to a perfected SPL (1.33.0014). If you want to downgrade to a non perfected SPL (using a goldcard), you' ll have to wait until a new HTC ROM is published or someone finds an exploit to the current SPL.
You can find a tutorial, on how to make a goldcard as well as the link to the RUU, in my blog. It's in Greek, but you can use google translate on the sidebar to translate it in your language.

Downgrading to original rom (magic 32a)

guys,
i did mistake by upgrading from HTC Magic_RUU_Sapphire_HTC_Asia_WWE_3.03.707.5_R_SG_release_signed_NoDriver to RUU_Sapphire_HTC_Europe_3.04.401.2_HTC_AT_test_signed_NoDriver.
i have tried to downgrade to RUU_Sapphire_Rogers_WWE_2.17.631.2_release_signed_NoDriver but no luck at all.
i have also tried the unlockr by creating gold card but still failed.can anyone help step by step how to root my device and downgrade to original rom ?

Rooting HTC Magic 32B Vodafone issue

I am trying to root my phone to cyanogen becuase I am sick of waiting for 1.6 to get upgraded to v2.x by vodafone. I have all the files that I require to root the phone listed bellow:
Amon_RA_recovery_v1.7.0G.img
cyanogen_v507.zip
GoogleApps.zip
When I get into fast boot and follow the instructions on the cyanogen wiki for my version. I run in the the error which is <Remote not Allow>, I get this at the first step when fastbooting the recovery img.
I have been looking through XDA for an answer and I think the reason is that I have the dreaded 'perfected SPL'. Here are my Fastboot details for someone to confirm for me: (copied everything just in case)

I found a thread that would help solve this problem I think (link is at the bottom of post as I cant post hyper links) but I cannot download any of the, I get a file no-longer exists error. I don't particularly wish to go down the root of changing the SPL as my Magic is on a damn contract
Is there any known ways other than this to go around installing cyanogen onto the 'perfected SPL'?
