My phone is looping (on and off) during the boot sequence. The boot screen (red green yellow) says code error then goes to the update screen. It starts to flash and then shuts off for a couple of minutes and does the same sequence again. I was running Nedidum v4 and activated the lock screen. Every since then I cant boot to this rom nor can I flash the stock sprint rom. Is my phone bricked? If i take it to sprint can they tell I was running a cooked rom? Note: I reported my touch pro lost through assurion to get this tp2. Can I do it again? Helpppppppppppppp!!!!!

Perhaps this is karma hitting you in the ass?
Go to the boot loader by shutting the phone off, holding down the vol down button then turning the phone back on.
Once in the boot loader try flashing to the stock rom.
To answer your question, yes, Sprint could tell. That said, they aren't likely to check.

it wont let me flash...it starts flashing and at about 10% phone shuts off...few minutes later it turns itself back on and goes to the boot--flash screen. i"ve tried 5 different roms including stock sprint. Only thing on card is the image file. You say sprint can't tell...I thought the boot screen says security unlocked or something like that?

He is saying that sprint could figure out you flashed your phone, but it is more likely that they won't even check, as most users probably won't flash their phone. At the very least you could go through insurance.

Yes, Sprint can tell if someone bothers to look. Chances are just low that someone will look.
Why are you flashing from a card? Ditch the card.
Flash the STOCK Sprint ROM over USB.

I have Verizon but I agree, there are too many variables when flashing via sd card. A faulty or cheap card, bad sectors on the card itself, your card reader copying the rom file incorrectly, a bad format on the card, the list goes on and on with what can go wrong flashing via sd card. I only flash via USB. Then again I use buildos so I never had a problem with roms. Thats why I like cookin my own rom. No headaches.
Relax heres what you do.
bro heres what you gotta do to fix your pfoblem, first format your sd card to fat32 then copy the nbh file onto the card, rename it to RHODIMG insert the sd card then enter the boot loader menu by first taking out the battery, and reinserting it. now with the phone off hold the volume down button while pressing the power button this forces the device into bootloader mode. your screen WILL read RHODIMG os. now press the power button again to install whatever rom you want but I would recommend using a stock rom or one that you know works, ie- from past experience.
trust me bro do this and all will be fine again,
HAPPY FLASHING
oh dont forget to press the soft reset button once the rom installation is done when the screen says installation successful,
once again HAPPY Flashing>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
the nbh file can be found next to the RUU application of whatever rom you choose when you open the rom with winrar this is the rom that will be flashed onto the phone.

Thanks all for your input...I've been flashing a year now, probably at least 500 times. Via sd card or activesync. I've tried everything..removing battery...formatting card...lada dada. cant connect via usb cause phone wont get past boot screen. I gave up and reported it missing o get a new one. It arrives today. I honestly think its the battery not holding a charge. Guess i find out for sure when the new tp2 arrives today. I'll post back here when i find out for sure.
Well got my new tp2 in this morning. I put the new battery in the old tp2 and it fired right up....to bad i had to waste my final insurance claim because of a battery.

I installed HardSPL and checked to make sure it installed fine, ect. Then I went and downloaded this ROM.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=497699
I established an activesync connection and then installed the ROM, waited until it was 100% done and it reset itself. The next time it booted up, it stuck at the AT&T logo screen. I read somewhere to hard-reset when you get to the part where you configure the stylus... wanted to get back to a working phone, I hard-reset and formatted. When I reboot it still sticks at the AT&T screen, with the 3 colums of orange letters on the bottom.
Did I do something wrong, and what can I do?
Thanks.
get back to the tri-screen bootloader (hardspl, turn the phone on, volumedownkey+centerbutton+reset) , reflash the rom...
Is your phone cdma? If so, then, yeah, you did something wrong.

I should have specified, it's a GSM phone. The AT&T Fuze.
I also updated the OP with a working link, didn't realize it linked back to the ROM Development page. =/
Thanks for the suggestions though. I'm hoping I didn't do anything I'll regret, I can't afford to have an expensive paperweight right now.
go into bootloader (volume down and reset button) until u see the tri color screen. then connect the phone computer using ur usb cable and you should see something on the bottom of the screen that says "usb" now try flashing a ROM again.
flash the stock rom, then try reflashing the custom rom again!
Same thing happened to me with a Energy Rom so I just had to choose a different version of it and it worked

Depending on what happened, it's a yes/no situation. What did you do?
Try this:
get into bootloader mode (tri-color screen): Take out the battery for one minute. Put it back in. Getting into bootloader mode is done by holding the Volume down button while you do a press/release of the Reset button. OR hold the Volume down button while you do a press/release of the Power button.
That should get you to bootloader mode. Now, plug in your USB to the PC. Flash a CDMA ROM from there by running the .exe. If you cannot do that, transfer the .nbh file (rename it to "RHODIMG.nbh" [no quotes]) and follow these instructions.
Good luck, and happy new year!

Well, this forum is for CDMA TP2s, but I'll help.
So you took out the battery for at least one minute? Then you put it back in. Get into bootloader mode (T-Mobile version: phone is off, hold the Volume Down button while you press/release the Power Button. Keep holding the Volume Down button until the colorful screen shows up).
When you're in bootloader, plug in your TP2 to your PC. Now run the .exe of a GSM ROM and follow the steps, as if your phone is synced to the PC. (aka flash as you would usually do).
To flash via the Storage Card: On your PC, go to Start > My Computer > Removable Disk drive (something like that; make sure this is your phone's Storage Card). Drag the .nbh of a GSM ROM there. Rename the .nbh "RHODIMG.nbh" (no quotes). Unplug your Phone. Take out the battery again for one minute. Now, go back into bootloader (hold Volume Down button and press/release Power button [keep holding the Volume Down button]). Follow the steps to flash the phone.
Good luck.

You did exactly the reverse of what I did, and the instructions already given are how I resolved it: put it in bootloader and flash a compatible ROM. I flashed a stock ROM just to be sure, but that's probably not needed.

See if you can do a hard-reset right now. While phone is off (which it is), press and hold Talk/Send, End, and Power button at the same time. Wait for a screen to pop-up. Follow steps to hard reset. That will bring it back to factory defaults.
If it doesn't work, maybe you could post your question on PPCGeeks, where a lot of CDMA people go. They might be able to help you.
Can you Unbrick a Touch Pro 2
Hi to all,
I'm a new here and a little desperate . I flashed my rom by using a raphael update instead of Rhodium. My phone got bricked. My phone is a Sprint HTC touch pro 2.
At the moment, it will not boot, when I plug it to my computer and it was looking for qualcomm cdma MSM drivers.
I tried sof and hardware reset including the boot loader. Nothing works. I also tried using different RUUs. Nothing works. I hope somebody can help me.
Fixed the problem...bought an android...ha,ha...

Well if you can power it on, and go to bootloader, then your phone is just fine. Just flash a Rhodium ROM.
I suggest take battery out, and put it back in after few seconds, to see if it powers on. If not, leave it in the charger, and see if it powers on.
After installing the HardSPL, I decided to flash my US Cellular CDMA phone with a GSM rom and of course it bricked it. The phone would only boot to bootloader, so I was going to have it repaired for $70. But if I was willing to flash my device, then I'm sure as willing to look for a DIY solution somewhere. Goodthing I searched this forum, because the answers where right here!
Just format your microSD to FAT32, install an extracted stock ROM kit to the root of the SD insuring you rename the .nbh to RHODMIG.nbh and place the other extracted files on the SD as well. Place the microSD in your HTC Touch Pro2 and boot to bootloader. You may have to take steps to get to the bootloader, mine booted to bootloader automatically anyway at that point. Follow onscreen instructions, and your Touch will be as good as new!
thanks a million for helping me unbrick my tp2
wow man thanks a million, i followed the instru and it worked but was slow so i did task 29 and flashed the rom i wanted and it works great, i really appreciate your help on this
How did you get to the bootloader menu. I am using CDMA HTC Pro 2 by Sprint. Thanks

keeps rebooting?
Hello, I'm wondering if anyone has experienced the problem I'm facing:
I have the latest Energy rom, with Android 2.3 on SD card. Android proved to be quite unstable and requires soft resets every now and then. Most of the time I would let it boot into WinMo and then run Haret again to get into Android.
Yesterday I left in running in Android all day, and in the evening I noticed the phone had died. Thinking it was just out of battery, I just plugged it in, let it charge for a few hours, then tried to boot it up. But it just kept rebooting, never getting pass the Touch Pro 2 boot screen.
Did hard resets twice, same thing. Re-flash the rom, same thing. Took out SD card, flashed again, same thing. Everything I tried, it would not get pass the initial boot screen, and just cycles the reboot again. Oh by the way, the hard resets and re-flashes are all successful with no errors.
Anyone have a solution to this? Thanks!

Try flashing another ROM or try putting in another battery and see if the bootloop issue goes away. Kindly update the status of your post if you fixed the issue or are still having problems.
I cannot activate my TP2 with EnergyROM. The data won't provision at all.
I cannot run the stock RUU either.
I took the phone to my good friend, and he hasnt been able to do anything with it either...
What am I doing wrong?
Everytime I try to put the stock rom back, I get a different error message.
Has anyone had this issue?
Does phone and sms work? What error do you get for the Data??
I have had problems provisioning data before and there were a couple solutions:
Data Call Failure Error 11 PPP Connection Error - Install stock ROM, call programming (#228 on verizon). If that doesn't work, call verizion and let them know you have no data. If all else fails ask for a DMU reset (although they are reluctant to do this).
What error message do you get when you try to install a stock ROM?
sorry, I have Sprint (shouldve mentioned that)
I get error #777 from data
and I got errors 206, 320, and another 200level one my boyfriend got when he tried. The latest time I tried with the stock rom it simply said "cannot upgrade your phone."
but yes, phone and sms work.

Try cycling the battery and re-provisioning your phone first. If that doesn't work change your connection settings. I am not sure on sprint 3g login, but go here:
Start > settings > Connections > Connections
Then click Manage existing for the sprint data connection, click edit. Make sure the "Modem" is "Cellular line" and it is dialing "#777". The last screen should have your sprint 3g data info, if you cannot find it online, call sprint and they can give you that information.
About the ROMs, i'm not sure why it isn't working. Unless you are transposing those numbers wrong there is no info in the wiki at this time:

I've tried that, my tech friend tried it. Nothing has worked.

Did you call sprint yet? That might be the next plan of action, anytime none of those worked I called VZW and got it fixed.
If none of the above works you might have to flash you TP2 via the SD card. Extract the .nbh file and place it on the root of your SD card (do not put it in any folders). Take out your battery, put it back in, hold the volume down and power key. It should automatically load the ROM file and ask if you want to flash the ROM. Hit the power button and flash away.
I called sprint and none of the 3 different tech support agents could figure it out either.
I'll try the SD card thing, because that is looking like my last hope =\

I agree. It sounds like some left over files are causing a serious conflict. Task 29 will format the phone and give you a clean slate to put the phone into bootloader mode and install a new rom. I have attached a version of Task 29 that I found on PPCGeeks that formats the entire phone and just puts the original "Touch Pro 2" splash screen. Plug in your phone and make sure you have a full sync connection with your phone. After that extract the zip file I attached to your desktop. Then run the Task29.exe file. Go through the whole process as if you were flashing a rom. After that the phone will only go to the splash screen and not boot. Do not panic, this is normal. You now have to put the phone in bootloader mode by holding the volume down button and hitting the soft reset button. Continue to hold down the volume down button when you release the soft reset and dont let it go until you see the bootloader screen. Make sure the phone is still plugged in and the words "USB" pop up on the bottom before you continue. When it does, flash the rom of your choice whether stock or custom and try to see if your problem continues. Sorry for the long instructions but I like being thorough just in case. I always use this before I flash a new rom just to avoid problems. I don't know who the author of this software is but they deserve a lot of credit. Hope this works out for you.
yea, i agree, PRBajista. i use it as well, everytime i flash a new rom (which i plan on doing in a minute or so) before i flash29, i put my new rom's nbh on my sd card, start up active sync, start up boot loader, it'll tell me to presst the power button to flash a new rom, which i don't i hit volume down, so it goes into usb mode, falshes with task 29, after it finishes, i reset holding volume down, and flash my rom from sd cause i prefer it over active sync. i hope everything works out for you
Do you have Hard SPL?
I tried task29 and got the Error [260] as i have the past 3 times i tried just doing the ROM by itself.
I've tried loading the .nbh file onto the SD and doing the whole volume down/power button thing and it just stayed on the bootscreen for 10 minutes not moving.
I am at my wits end and dont know what to do, and now the phone feature (calling/sms) has stopped working as well.
This morning in my half-awake state I accidentally pressed "OK" to my phone asking me to go ahead with the (I'm guessing) 2.3.6 update. I KNEW I would end up doing something stupid like that. GRR!!
Anyway, the phone then launched itself into a white screen with blue text saying that it is doing the update, but nothing happens and it appears to be frozen.
I am rooted and was trying to avoid this update; like I said, I was half-awake.
I can't even get it to boot into download/recovery mode, it always goes straight to the white screen. Hopefully this isn't a double post; I checked here and google first but couldn't find anything for this phone. I'm really at a loss here. I have Titanium Backup and I got an external SD card, but I'm not sure if I actually backed up the apps to the external card (new to TB). I did a Kies contacts backup a few days ago so that at least is safe.
Is there any hope for my phone? If I can just get it back to a working state, I can live with my apps' data being erased. Any help appreciated.
Thank you!
Doh... sorry to hear that.. are you also running a custom rom, or customized ATT rom (I have the stock rom from the developers forums over the standard root after having tried a few custom roms).
I got the update message as well this morning, but I postponed it for 8 hours, however I am unable to get rid of the stupid notification, and am curious if after the 8 hours, it will force the update or let me postpone it agian (that will get annoying fast if I cannot disable the OTA update..)
I'd like to know how to cancel the update as well. I have it sitting in my notification bar. >_<

I'm still running stock 2.3.5. All I've had time to do is root and TB apps, haven't had the chance to play around with ROMs yet for this phone.
Yeah I postponed it for 8 hours, too. The 8hrs must have expired right as my alarm went off because the "Install this update?" message popped up and I hit it, thinking it was the snooze button -_-
Let me know if there's any way to get off of this screen my phone is stuck on! And then disable the obnoxious message for good.
Thanks again =)

I have about 10-15 times since it first happened this morning. I also tried taking out the SIM and microSD cards. It's the only way I can get it to stay off to try to boot to recovery mode (which it still won't boot into); if I hold the power button to turn it off it just resets back into the white Software Update Screen (won't stay off).
Has anyone successfully applied this update yet?
Any other ideas? I appreciate the feedback so far!
Similar thing happened to me. I pulled the battery and booted in to CWM just fine. Restored from there.

I don't believe I have CWM installed? How would I have known if I did? When I volume up + volume down + power and wait until the Samsung logo comes up it boots back to the white screen. Maybe I'm doing that process wrong?
Same thing happened to me this morning!
almost identical story
I've tried literally every combination to get to the reboot screen. ugh :'(

I haven't been rooting as much as some of the guys here, but I think if you take the battery out and it won't boot back even into recovery, you're hard-bricked and you're gonna have to start from scratch with a fresh stock rom. Go to download mode (turn off, hold vol up + down, insert powered usb cable) and put a stock rom back on using odin.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1342348
You will basically get back to what your phone was when you took it out of the box and you'll have to install everything, your data (other than the data that is on a microSD card) won't be there.
If you have a backup that you did with CWM, then you can restore the backup after you do all this.
I think you got unlucky with the worst case scenario of what shouldn't happen during an update.
Thanks for the advice. I'll give it a try when I get home from work and will let you guys know how it goes.
For the future, is it generally recommended to de-root before doing any straight carrier update? Or is this just a total fluke that some of us are experiencing?
Will adb recognize your phone? If it does just adb reboot recovery

AMAZING!! Thank you so much! Not only is my phone up and working but the update has installed!
I learned the following:
-you pretty much need a pc (not a mac) to do all the downloads correctly. I used a friends.
-to get your phone into download mode when it's frozen from the update, you have to hold down either vol + AND vol - (or just vol -) as well as the power button, simultaneously hold down power and also simultaneously plug in the usb. Then let go of the power button and remain holding down one or the two volume buttons.
THIS WAS JUST WITH MY SKYROCKET EXPERIENCE
I'm so happy. Thank you LucidMike
This just happened to my friend's phone. White screen no matter what. Stock everything, too. She's pretty bummed that there's no way to recover the videos and pictures on her phone before resetting it. Apparently she went to AT&T and they couldn't figure it out. They called tech support for her and THEY couldn't figure it out. She's currently on the phone with Samsung, but I doubt they'll be able to help either.

AHHH!! Tell her to hang up the phone right now!! Use this method to fix her phone!! All of her data will still be there after it's done! After the process is complete, back it up to a computer (enable USB storage and just copy + paste and I used Kies to copy my contacts) and THEN do a full factory reset (reset recommended by everyone to ensure smooth function of phone). The method in the link will return her to the original stock version; I believe it may trip a counter that AT&T can use to determine if you've hacked your phone, but if you want a working phone...and there's also a chance that it WON'T trip the counter (some people say it did and some say it hasn't).
EDIT: Pictures and videos that I took with the phone are saved in /sdcard/DCIM/Camera, so you know where to copy her stuff from.

I'm trying to fix my boyfriend's phone (he actually didn't hack/root it or anything...but yesterday's update messed up his phone so it was stuck in the "SOFTWARE UPDATE" and "Loading..." frozen white screen). We tried taking out the battery, restarting it, everything. I tried your method of holding all three buttons while plugging in the USB and then letting go of the power button. What do you press when it asks you if you want to continue (up vol +) or cancel (vol -)? I chose vol -, and when it took me back to the white screen, I did it again and pressed vol +. Now I'm on a ODIN MODE page...will this affect his warranty or anything? What do I do next?
You need to have odin on your pc and the stock .tar and flash it. Here go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?goto=newpost&t=1509978
Read carefully follow directions exactly

Thanks! I read on the first page of the thread that it needs to be rooted though? This phone is brand new and never been rooted or hacked...will doing this void the warranty or anything unpleasant? (I'm the one that likes hacking my devices like my Nook Color...my boyfriend is a little more paranoid and would rather have it stay covered under warranty )
No actually. Thats incorrect..the stock tar. Is just as it sounds. The stock firmware the phone comes with.....dont need to be rooted to use odin. Actually if u odn the stock tar. It removes root.

Tried doing this, but this is all I get.
<OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 0)
<ID:0/006> Added!!
That's it. Nothing else happens. Help?
EDIT: Nevermind! Plugged it into a different USB port (COM:6) and it worked flawlessly. All data is still on phone and it works like new! Thank you!
My nexus s keeps booting up like normal but then once it gets to my lock screen it shuts off by itself within 5 seconds. Sometimes I manage to put my password in and get onto my main screen but that's as far as I can get before it shuts off again. This continues repeatedly till the battery dies, turning on and shutting off by itself. This has been going on for 2 days now, since my phone died while at work and got home and charged it. When I took it off the charger when it showed a full charge it started happening, turning on and shutting off by itself and when the phone would turn on it would show low battery. As you may know this phone only has internal memory (no memory card slot). So what I'm trying to do is get my pictures and videos off of the internal memory before I do a hard reset which is what the sprint repair store told me was my only option to fix the phone but I would lose everything on there and there's absolutely no way to recover my pics and videos cuz the phone doesn't stay on long enough. Does anyone have any suggestions at all on how I could fix my phone WITHOUT doing a hard reset? I'm hoping to not lose these precious memories so I'd like to keep that as a very, very last resort. Any suggestions would be helpful and very much appreciated...

Bootloop... You flashed something wrong, modded/tweaked something wrong or overclocked and it wasn't stable... You need to go into recovery and do a CLEAN install of your rom and/or kernel.. if you used a mod/tweak this could have caused it... If overclocking DO NOT check to keep the settings after a reboot unless you are sure that these settings are stable..

im not sure what exactly i did but i havent changed anything from what originally came with the phone. (im still running on gingerbread) i had my phone on airplane mode so my battery wouldnt die while i was at work and somehow my phone died anyway then i put it on the charger when i got home and let it charge fully then turned it on and from the time i turned it on till now its been shutting off and turning on by itself. i guess the repair store told me its recycling itself?

Try booting into recovery.. Volume + and Power.. use the volume keys to scroll and power to enter.. the menu has an option for recovery (this does not do anything to your phone).. You may see a dead android,.. DON'T PANIC.. this is perfectly normal, you didn't break anything.. try pressing the volume up, then power, wait a sec and do it again.. (I always had an issue with the "stock recovery") the phone may power off or try to reboot.. (been a while, kinda fuzzy on this).. be persistent and keep retrying the fore mentioned steps and you should get a recovery menu.. Phew... Now the sad bit, you don't have any files you need on your phone.. I don't know if the stock recovery works with usb mounting, but it might.. try it.. if it does then download a custom recovery, I suggest the one in my signature, and copy from computer to phone using the usb.. in the recovery menu, after the transfer is complete, go to install / install from sd / choose the zip that you just put on your sd card / accept / and if you get this far then.. Reboot recovery, don't worry, nothing broken (yet).. lol.. In your new recovery, assuming it's the one I said, go to the advanced menu, (this is a touch version, so you don't need to use the volume keys) and select "fix permissions".. ... .. and reboot.. WORKED???
All is not lost (yet).. try wiping (ONLY) cache and dalvik(under advanced menu).. and reboot.. WORKED??
Okay, so if you are reading down here, either you are bored, or the above steps failed..
Use this program, read the forum as well..

You can keep your phone 100% stock, but you'll need to unlock it to fix it, then you can lock it back up if you'd like.. Not necessary though.. You might think about just installing a custom rom or upgrading to jb.. OOooh the possibilities..
But here's the problem, remember the (yet).. if you have come this far down in steps to restore your phone..
ALL YOUR DATA WILL BE LOST!!!

The first steps won't.. if you get to the unlock stage then yes.. As long as you keep it locked, you'll be fine.. If it won't let you flash a custom recovery, you can try the above steps in the stock...

Won't stay on, or the screen turns off.. ?? does the computer give a pop-up message saying that you had an issue when copy/pasting the file to the phone..??
Remember that we are working from recovery, not with the phone fully booted into your android os..

my comp isnt picking up my phone via usb...
update: now my phone isnt turning on at all, even when plugged in to charge or via usb... so does that mean im out of luck now..?
My nexus s has the same issue
brethren, I am sorry to drop in on the discussion like this but I don’t know where to get an answer from. My Nexus S (phone) has had a problem recently, it just keeps on turning on and off and mentions the “type password to decrypt storage”, if it remains on. I tried to factory reset the phone through the steps mentioned in the blog here:
1. Power off
2. Hold Volume + , volume - and power
You should get a green android image with the body opened with "Start" on the screen
3. Press Down till you get to recovery mode
4. Press power
Phone will reboot. You will then get same image of android (smaller) with red warning triangle
5. Wait a minute or two and then press volume + and power (not sure exactly what I did for this maybe it's just waiting)
6. Use volume down to select wipe data/factory reset and hit power
Select Yes - delete all user data and hit power
7. Once done select reboot system now and hit power
You are now back to zero and can start again
But it does not work. I will be obliged if someone helps me out
Thanks
