CoPilot Live 8 Pro Licensing Issue - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Themes and Apps

I would like to share how I resolved an issue about the preinstalled CoPilot.
I bought CoPilot Live 8, Turkey Maps as soon as I bought my HTC HD2.
I have activated the product, downloaded and extracted the Card Image as
described at the following address :
http://www.alk.eu.com/buynow/eu_download.asp
After that, when I tried to start CoPilot, I received the error below:
Data version mismatch The data in use is not properly licensed. Bla bla....
(-711)
Their support lines were dead so I had to wait for the web support to solve my problem.
After a day, they adviced me to delete \windows\licp8.dat, start and re-activate the product, which worked after a few attempts.
I hope I save somebodies time...
Regards.

thanks for the heads up.
good of you to take the time out to let people know!
I havent activated mine yet, but useful to be aware of this so I don't get stressed out should the same problem arise.
cheers

Just to add a handy tip for ROM Junkies using CoPilot:
Rather than manually activiating and deactivating CoPilot 8 everytime you wanna flash a new ROM, just backup that \windows\licp8.dat file, and copy it back into the Windows directory after ROM flash.
EDIT: Don't know if it's important, but having an Owner name that matches what was used in the License probably also helps.

Thanks a lot. This tip really helped me . I have the license for Middle east but while selecting the region after entering the license key, i can't see middle east in the list. I don't know how to get it

I am facing the issue while activating COpilot. I have bought the key for the middle east
version. when I activate after entering the key and the COPILOT ID, it asks me to select the region but i am getting the option to select the eastern europe or western europe. Middle east is not available in the list. Although the middle east maps are present in the SD card while installation. If I select east or western europe it gives me the error code -711.

hi could you please sent me the middle east maps. i am searching for a while.... [email protected]

If you get the 711 error delete the application, delete the data of the application first (in application management) and then remove the copilot folder on your SD card. That should do the trick

Re:
Solution works. Had the same problem with US maps, but fixed it. Thank you for sharing!

Like to get the Middle East maps got it for my Garmin just got Copilot 8 Live where can I get it without doing the 137 dollars price tag

thanks guys
I got into quite some trouble after buying Copilot v8 for my HD2 and the support desk was only sendling me 1 answer every 24 hours (at 4' before closing their business), which made ma wait for 6 days to have 6 questions answered.
Thanks to the above thread, I have a fully up and running Copilotlive8 now.

Co-Pilot Live 8

Hi
How do I get my activation key for Co-Pilot? Their website says I have to download the maps for £26.99, but I already have them as it was pre-installed and my trial has finished.
Can I buy the £26.99 version on the website and be given a key which I can use with my existing maps? Or do I need to unistall the maps I have and use the ones I download? Or third scenario, can I just buy a key on its own, slightly cheaper?
Any help appreciated
£26.99 is essentially purchasing the licence for the software. Once purchased, you will be issued a key, which you simply enter into CoPilot to unlock it fully. You do not need to make any modifications at all.
That said, you should be made aware that the HD2's version is not up-to-date and there are no news on when it will be updated. You will be sent a link to download the latest version, which contains some new, useful features and some bugs fixed, but if you are not fussed, you can continue using the one you currently have.
Interesting on the not up todate bit, since I have been having problems getting POIs into it. The court was out as far as I was concerned in terms of whether I had hacked the SD folders and lost something important to enable this process or whether it doesn't work with the version shipped with the device.
So the Co-Pilot people didn't get back for a month, then I had a sequence of interchanges, after about 8 days or so they gave me a link to what I had bought with new software. This link was expired and after a day they sent me a link which worked... although I didn't have my password with me.
The interchanges were barking up the wrong tree and for OV2 import you also need the image file not as a BMG but as a PNG and it all goes into the directory
Copilot/SAVE
[they were not right on that one, but that wasn't the problem, you might have to rotate the graphics till the angle looks right as well]
Now POI import works and it is new software since the splash screen is different, so I'm pretty convinced that what was shipped with my device didn't work with POI import.
Bottom line is take a back up, save password etc etc etc.

GPS software questions

HI
i am looking for a gps software.
I was ready to buy copilot 8, i used to have version 7 and was quite happy with it. Then I realised that copilot 8 for HD2 is a "special" version.
For example there is traffic info with it. Is that correct?
I dont want to blame the development before it happend, but i very suspicious that they will put effort on this version when they have already a general windows mobile version.
so I look at igo8 but
1) how to buy it, the only site i found is to buy a card... Do i need to buy the card, then do some magic to put it on my own card.
2) it seems that to get it working is quite difficult from the number of post so what are the chances for an average guy ?
3) not sure if TMC is working or not, i found post stating both.... and is it free or a subscription ?
i dont want to start a thread " i have the best ..." but any advice for a gps with traffic info with european maps will be welcome.
thanks
it does work with some effort
I do not use TMC so no help there I saw the thread that supposedly says you can make TMC work. when I get time I will try it out but I manage with out it.
BUT I was able to load "Nav N GO" version 8.3.4.102680 on my HD2 and it is great.
the GPS lock some times as fast as 2 sec. flat. (on my old tilt it never took less the a minute from cold start.)
FYI> my program is a cracked version because I was not able to get an upgrade from my original 8.0 version soft. (yeah I do not want to by the card since I want to use a lot of maps and the only version you can by is on the 4Gb card (my map folder only is 4Gb ))

COPILOT activation problem

I am facing the issue while activating copilot. I have bought the key for the middle east version. when I activate after entering the key and the COPILOT ID, it asks me to select the region but i am getting the option to select the eastern europe or western europe. Middle east is not available in the list. Although the middle east maps are present in the SD card while installation. If I select east or western europe it gives me the error code -711.
Just to give some background that after a ROM upgrade i lost the COPILOT so i downloaded the trail version by searching in the forum. when i am using it as a trail ... everything is fine. I can see the MAPs for the middle east and i can use them but while activating i don't get the region in the list to activate.
Have you tried connecting to Copilot Central 2? It might help sort the maps out. All I can think of really.
Where did you get the Copilot cab from? You could either use Dutty's, if you aren't already, or use the version that came when you bought the software.
@richardirv: Copilot central is not for the customized trial version of COPILOT.
@jay_BG: I downloaded the CAB posted by Laurentius26. I will try to use the one by dutty's and will see if it works. I will post the results.
Thanks
I installed dutty's package but still i am facing the same issue. It gives me eastern europe and western europe in the list to select the region on the contrary i have bought the key for middle east.
I'm thinking that you could try installing dutty's cab and ovrlaying it with the installation of copilot you got with the maps/license. That way you should be able to preserve any registry changes done by dutty's cab (pinch to zoom and screen rotation). from what you are saying i'm thinking that ALK have put in some kind of regional encoding, which seems strange to me, but what do i know about marketing
Of course, everything i've wrote so far is pure guesswork, since i don't have this problem.
Have you tried to submit a ticket with the ALK support?
I have already submitted the ticket with ALK support.
Earlier I was thinking that may be the intallation package may be different for middle east. So I asked ALK support to provide me the installation package for HTC HD2 customized COPILOT. They told me to do the hard reset and I'll get back my COPILOT and I am not gonna do that.
Now I asked them about the region after entering the Key.
I think the package itself doesn't seem to have problem because when i use it as a trial. Everything works fine and I even see that in the licenses, middle east is licensed.
While when i register and it gives me the option of selecting region, it gives me europe and for example if I register it for Italy, then it tells me to change the data region. from setting I go in the data region and I see that there is only middle east selected but in the licencing tab of settings, I only see Italy. Due to this conflict it gives me error code -711.

[+++WARNING+++] CoPilot and HD2. [+++WARNING+++]

I hate to have to make such a thread, but ALK (the company that makes CoPilot) has informed me of something that they have neglected to mention to anyone purchasing CoPilot Live 8 for their HD2.
The HD2 specific version of CoPilot does NOT bring the map updates that CoPilot advertises
They mentioned that while they have come out with updates for their maps it's only for the REGULAR version of CoPilot. For now, the HD2 version (which I'm sure all HD2 users have purchased) does NOT come with this. So what does this mean? You would have to reinstall your CoPilot program as a normal GPS program. Meaning it would not function with NaviPanel and other HD2 specific software. They are not saying WHEN or even IF they will come out with the updates for the HD2 maps, but in my opinion it's not worth purchasing now until it's fully compatible.
In my own experience. I can't say I like it simply because the maps and searches that I've done (on Live Search for CoPilot) are WAAAAAY out of date. I was looking for a specific hospital when their "live search" gave me an address of where the hospital was almost 12 years ago. Not good and NO excuse for such lack of maintenance. I'll leave it up to people here to decide if they want to buy it or not.
Timely but a shame. I was about to buy this as I've got the UK Tmobile HD2 just this week and it hasn't got CoPilot on it at all. I thought I could get the HD2 version from ALK's website (I think I'd save a tenner) but now maybe I need to buy the full blown version. Are CoPilot's versions of maps easy to identify?
Well, I don´t use the Navipanel since it´s a pain ita to change the backcover everytime for the car-cradle, I´m better off with the Brodit-car-cradle.
I made some fuzz at ALK-Europe for the map-update (I bought the HD2-version in Dec. 2009) and they sent me the original Copilot8 cab for install on SDcard without charge. Now I run the regular version and have no update problem with the maps AND copilot doesn´t eat up my valuable Storage mem.
That's why I'm using the regular version of Copilot on my HD2.
And it works fine.
I indeed remember that when I tried Copilot special HD2 version (trial included in my original ROM) most of the maps were out of date and wrong.
I can't see any point is using the HD2 version, the regular is fine!
I bought cp 8 when It came out, before I even had a HD2, (but was using the test roms)
navipanel seems a gimmick to me, something that I tried once and never bothered with again.
Where are the maps located? In the Copilot folder, right ?
So why not download the regular Copilot version (2577 + Copilot) and then replace just the 2577 folder with the one dedicated to the HD2 (downloaded separately).
Just a suggestion. Could this possibly solve your problems?
@Phenomenon - can you tell me what version of Copilot you mean as a standard version? I'm using ver. 8.0.0.659 -
thanks
Where can I download the generic version of CoPilot? I'm hoping to free some memory, try out the newer maps and upload my tracks with CP Central. It's not that there's much difference between the 2 applications!

Mmm. It occurred to me too but I can't find it. I can download the HD2 version but not the generic. For the former I was sent a link to the full version and just have to enter my details and download the maps etc. that I bought. Getting the HD2 trial is easy too but I cannot find the other anywhere.
ALK have supplied the links to the generic version of CoPilot, together with instructions as to how to install both versions from scratch. They were very quick to reply. I still can't find a link on the website.
Does anyone who has tried the generic version know whether it is necessary to de-register the installed version before trying the device-independent application when re-installing to the same device?
iGO8 people, iGO8!!
I bought the CoPilot 8 Live for my Touch Pro and then changed to the HD2.
But, after I installed the regular CP8 I downloaded the HD2 update software "found link with google in UK" and installed, I have the HD2 version and I do get the map updates...
This does work fine as I've performed the same thing above several times while upgrading roms.
On another note, the website says you can't switch your license to Android from another OS ie: Windows Mobile.. but I'm going to try to deactivate my license on CP8 in Win Mob and reactivate in Android...who knows hopefully it will work...

I'm sure that the web site said it was alright to move between WM and Android when I bought CP8 some months ago. Moving to an iPhone was not possible. I'll see if I can find the page in my archive. I can't believe that I misread it. I think the text is ambiguous now but I'm fairly certain it has changed as well.
You might try contacting ALK and see what they have to say.

Install Japanese APk for Wena 3 device

I just obtained a Wena 3 (smart watch band) from Amazon Japan, and I downloaded the apk to side install but I get "App not installed" at the end of installation. I tried running a vpn with a Japan host, and then clicked the Japanese play store link from the Wena website and I get "this item isn't available in your country." So I have a tiny brick on my hands. I actually was able to download the app on my iPad but want it synced to my cell. Anyone know how to do this (without creating a second japan based google account).
Hi, I just ordered Wena 3 too. Did you find any solution in the meantime?
Ok, I have figured out this myself. You need to download Wena3 apkx from apkpure using google search first. Then install apkpure itself and use it to install the downloaded ApkX. I was not able to find wena3 apk directly in the ApkPure.
Now waiting for my Wena3 to arrive.
I received mine and have the apk installed through apkpure. It runs fine. The issue I am having is the date displayed on the device is forward about 10 days or so. Today is 2/24 (Tues). The displayed date is 3/7 (Sun). The device appears to be running Japanese time also.
I have tried setting it up with a us based account and facebook.
Appreciate any insight yu might have.
Thanks,
scott w.

It appears the device is strongly tied to the region setting of the phone. I can change the region of my phone (samsung s10e) to japan and the date is correct on the device, however the time of the appointments currently on my phone are then off several hours. I played with setting the UTC offset with no luck either.
So, fixed one, messed up another. I need the appointment times correct on the phone, so I will need to live with the date/time being incorrect on the device. Should not be a huge issue except for knowing when the day breaks for counting steps and such.
Funny think is the app on the phone is fine. The date is all good there no matter the region. Hopefully a firmware upgrade to the device will take care of it in the future.
Please advise if you have found different results.
It's been over a year now, how is the Wena 3 working out? Have their been any improvements?
Thanks

Nothing that I have found. No adjustments can be made to the unit without the app and the app offers only Japan as a region to select. Sony UK are no help at all and yet the company is happy to take money for sales of the unit around the world. Seems Sony are living in a pre Amazon/eBay world
