remove notification bar icons? - Hero CDMA Themes and Apps

Hey yall,
This may very well be a noob question, so i apologize in advance if so.
I am interested in removing a few icons from the right side of the notification bar, as seen on the home screen (as opposed to having the notification bar pulled down).
I read on the G1 forum that trying to replace these with an inconsistent set of icons (say, 100 different PNG's for each percent) yielded no success. But I just want to remove both the battery icons as well as the alarm icon.
the main reason for this removal is one, i downloaded an app from the market that has the % in an icon on the left side of the notification bar (search for 'battery indicator'; should be free) and i always have my alarm on, and check it in the application.
so my question is, is it possible to do this? If so, which files do i need to remove?

seriously? not even one reply? wow xda, im pretty saddened by this...

Bump
It would be nice to unclutter the status bar

Mostly no one has probably replied because you cant get rid of them. You could get replace the current PNGs with completely transparent ones. But then you'd just have a big blank spot between the signal status and the time.

thats what i thought i would hear. thanks for your reply

Couldn't you make the png 1 pixel by 1 pixel and transparent. THen you really couldn't tell it was missing.

I have a apk ready I can test this with real quick.
I'll report back

well, using a 1x1 transparent image did the trick with getting them to vanish, didn't break anything.
However, the 1x1 didn't seem to matter either, there is a gap, but it still looks good.

I just took the current image and made it 100% transparent.
could also replace the file with a 1x1 transparent image.
either way yields the same results.
if you still want the file, pm me and I'll link it.

+1 for the ability to get rid of some icons, the clock and battery indicator in particular.

I have trouble getting the Curvefish battery widget to update properly. Running Fresh 1.1 with MDK 1.2

i'm not doing anything else sure i'll test it.
i'd love to get some more themes on here!
Seriously, screens go a long way, plus we need the zip to test it.

Ok. links and screens are up!
I like the pics. Sometimes themes can be too over the top; I like that you kept it fairly simple. Looks like a nice accent
thank you for the comment
I dunno about the theme, but I'd like to know what the clock widget at the top is.
Great work! That looks awesome. I'll give it a try a later tonight and will let you know what happens.
Working fine on fresh .7
Bottom of the notification bar is messed up. Needs to be transparent.

Weird orange outline.
Bottom of notification bar is stretched.
I also noticed in your original screen shot that the spacebar of the vertical keyboard is stretched.
Besides those few things it is very nice! I like it a lot.
I would like to see the vertical keyboard background be the same color as the dialer background and not that gray color that it is now. And I would like to see the horizontal keyboard be orange. Please
and is it possible to make the background of the service bars and other notification icons blend in with the top bar?

The calendar is just CalWidget from Eggstein. I don't know where the clock is from.
Will it work with Obelisk's MoDaCo 1.2?
Tried it and it worked except I get the massage "The application Touch Input (process com.htc.android.htcime) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again." I force close and it pops up again a few seconds later. Any ideas?
Appreciate the work.. but I'm liking the clear themes way too much, even though i like the orange.
Thanks for all the comments. This is my first theme and I was testing the waters with it. Let me know what you would like to see and ill see what I can do. The clock widget is digital clock and is awesome as an alarm. Download it its free!
Any ideas about the force close? I would like to use the theme.
I'm not trying to be a pest, but this is the color I've been wanting for a while. Please, can you fix the problem with the force close? I think it has something to do with the keyboard, as it wouldn't work at all. Thanks.
I'm working on a few things and will release another version don't worry.

[Morph] Batnip Status Icons v1.0 (for use with CM5 battery display) New Host!

Batnip Status Icons v1.0 (for use with CM5 battery percent status display (Cyanogen MOD 5.0.5)
I made these icons because I didn't like the way that the default CM5.0.5 battery icons worked with the new battery percent status display. I felt that the animation needed to be a little more subtle, due to the fact that we now can just read the numbers given to us instead of determining the remaining battery life by examining a sizable indicator.
Pretty colors do come standard, a few short of a rainbow. These icons are the same height as most of the others, making for a more even view of the notification bar.
I felt like sharing and will use these until someone with real experience comes up with something better. Feedback welcome.
Of course I take no responsibility for any damages done to your device. These icons were developed specifically for Cyanogen MOD 5.0.5, be sure to Nandroid your **** up real tight first.
Thanks to cyanogen as always and canadiancow for making this possible. (writing the code for the battery status display!)

When I posted that, I was only using the black bar mod and since that overwrote cyanogen's, it lost the percentage number so I wanted a black bar based off cm5.0.5 but I'm using NexTheme now anyway so you can ignore me

His problem was that he was using a 5.0.4 theme that erased the battery % numbers, once he updated it worked fine.
Just wanted to say this is an amazing morph and I absolutely love it.

KSPEC Monster has that icon for battery but be warned it will change a lot on your ROM more than just themeing the icon.

you can unzip kspecs monster, extract the framework-res.apk and push it to your /system/framework. will give you the battery icon without messing with your rom....
Look for BattGrn_statBarBlkXML.zip on the Nexus one section and use Metamorph to apply it and you will get the battery Icon you want. I did so and it worked perfectly:
how do you get the % to show up though?
thanks
Unfortunately I have not found one with that.
Can someone with more expertise give any guidance on how to apply metamorphs from the nexus forums to the Evo? I thought I was doing everything right, but the battery percentage still isn't showing up...just the graphics.
The Battery portion isnt available on the EVO it would seem, it is on the Nexus one by simply using SpareParts, however there is no option for this in the SpareParts on the EVO.
BakedSnack ROM has that battery icon for the EVO. It has some other modified icons as well, but all are nice.
Be warned though that if might have side effects with whatever ROM you are running if you move the resource file, such as location bar indicator above Rosie if you are using Espresso Rosie.

[HOW-TO] Translucent notification tray background in Froyo

See post #53 for guide. Credit to ghostrida! Awesome work!
This has only been verified to work on DEODEXED ROMs.
NOTICE: THE services.jar MOD ONLY ALLOWS FOR THE BACKGROUND PNG TO SHOW TRANSLUCENCY.
YOU MUST EDIT YOUR OWN status_bar_backgound.png AND MAKE IT TRANSLUCENT AS WELL AS MAKE THE NECESSARY services.jar MOD
This is my 65% black...(PNG is attached)

So it a different services.jar file
Question: If I am using the custom services.jar that removes the clock will this overwrite it?

Hey sorry for the late reply, but yea, it's the service.jar file.
Thanks guys... working on it now
I dont know why but it leaves squares in the pull down but thats what i found just surfing around in this site.
Ok, so we have 2 services.jar files .... 1 for no clock and 1 for transparent pulldown.
Who do we know here that can merge the two?

Not exactly. Your background image in the tray pull down is full of lines while the background wallpaper is clear.

That's closer, but still not quite it, those lines would drive me nuts. NO offense. But I like the progress being made.
Here is an example of a translucent tray, this is what I mean: (it's a 2.1 MOD of course)
Also, as stated in the OP, I'm not asking for someone to make this MOD for me necessarily. But rather some information of HOW and WHAT to change to make that notification tray background translucent.
The translucent tray is cool if we can figure out how to do it, but what about the notification bar too? That would make a killer combination!

Fancy Widget without the clock?

Can it be done? I'd love to see a Fancy Widget theme where it was just the weather portion and a transparent background, that would be amazing How do you even go about theming fancy Widget?

you just need to resize it with LPP. the widget thinks the images are still there so it still its normal size.
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/15212713/weather.apk
But I don't have Launcher Pro Plus or ADW launcher, as you can see from the gui, I'm running MIUI
the verison of fancy widget you have has the weather over the time? i could do the same to yours if you send it to me, but still the same problem, your gunna have empty space under the weather. so depends on how high you want the weather to float. middle with mine or up high with yours...
I'd like it to be high like mine, I have the fancy widget thats on the Market
post yours or send it to me and i'll do it for you. if you post it, just put it in a zip cuz you cant post apk's for some reason. or pm me for my email.

the apk you posted is like the one i posted. it's not the one on your screen shot.
It's the .apk installed on my phone, I'm not quite sure what you want then I guess
edit: If you're referring to the one on my phone being transparent that's because Fancy Widget gives you the option to make the background transparent.
the clock you have on the screen shot has the weather over the time. the one you sent me looks like the regular sense clock with the weather under the time. do you have the paid version? cuz i think with the pro version, you are able to change the clock format. Sorry!!!!!
i'll try one more method that might work.... i'll get back at ya in a bit.
I have the free version, it came stock with the weather at the top and not the bottom
i was able to put the moon/sun higher but the info isn't budging. i think it's gunna be an xml edit and i haven't figured out how to mess with those yet... but heres what i got so far. maybe someone who knows xml can finish it.... sorry!!
View attachment weather.apk
Awe, darn. Thanks anyways.
Anyone else have any ideas for this?
The pro version has just a weather widget. Looks like that is what you are looking for.
Are you sure this couldn't just be themed without the clock?
Alright, I've themed Fancy Widget to get rid of the clock:
But as you can see the date still appears at the bottom, does anyone know how to get rid of this?
Bump?.....
