One touch _ power off - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Themes and Apps

POWER OFF
Only touch that you have turned off the screen. Small and useful software for two versions : Blue & Red Power icon.

Little confusing. Is this for turning off device or screen?

screen, I think...

yep it is working fine! that was the only thing i had missing on my homepage.
Many thanks for the cab

I installed the red button cab and cannot find any app anywhere.
It ain´t in the start/programs.
Also did a softreset.

well if you are adding a shortcut in your homepage...clickon programs and then should be there under power off

Hi,
screen off can be done by pressing one key
But real power off for the hole device would be an improvement because now you need to press long and then choose shut down
any plans to offer that funcionality to the good looking red button
Cheers

Single press device Lock

Folks, any idea how to switch off the screen / lock the keyboard without the need of double press the red power button?
This is kind of bothering cause when you're in a application and need quickly to put your Treo into your pocket, you need to press 1st to get to the home-screen and 2nd to switch off.
Yeah, seems to be something new with the 750 (no other treo before did this). Palm set this up purposely, so I wouldn't assume there's a workaround for it. You'll get used to double clicking
Not that I know
I have used it for ages and found many shortcuts but no "quick lock".
Sorry
How about getting an application that device locks your phone upon return from standby? I use BatteryStatus Today Plugin by Chi Tai Dang.. This plugin has the option to lock device on wakeup and set cpu speed(I use this a lot)..
But mine's a wizard, what do I know about Treo.. but what I do now is, press the power button to get the phone to go into standby and when I want to use it again, I press the power button and it will device lock upon wake up.
I don't have a Treo. How do you initiate said keyboard lock normally?

"Device lock" that you may know of isn't used on Treo's. Palm uses their own "keyguard," which uses the red END button as a power button when not on the phone. If you are on the today screen, one click will shut the device off. However, if you are in another program, the first tap brings you to the today screen, and the second click turns the screen off (and the keyguard on if you have selected it to be that way). On all other treo's, WM or POS, one click of the end button would shut the screen off (unless you were on the phone obviously, it would be the END function), regardless of what program you were in. Palm changed this, I assume, to be like most cell phones, where when you press the END key it returns to the home screen, regardless of what you were doing. Like a RAZR would do.
Thats the best way I can explain it. You would be surprised Vijay on how many customizations Palm made to the OS.
Yes, I've heard that they did - thank Goodness one of the OEMs finally saw fit to do something original.
Hmm.. from what you describe, clicking twice doesn't seem like a very big chore... I did something similar in VJOkButt. Is it really necessary to convert the 2 clicks to 1 click? Investigating it barely seems worth the effort
V
I agree, hence my original post.
When you are on the today screen, it works normally. And you can double-click quite rapidly and it will work. Not a big deal for me.
yes guys, its not that dramatical, but still, it would be an improvement also considering that I want to stay in that one application (a note which I'm editing) and want to get there after waking up the device again without the need of again starting application, look for the last note, opening etc...
with HTC hermes and others the power button works exactly like this and its even better.
Hi all,
If you're using it two handed hold option (the white key, left hand end of row 3) and press the red button once - closes the app and powers off.
But you need an odd-shaped hand to do that one handed!
It is not that the double click isn't easy to do, it's waht fire00 said; if you are in an app, it closes it and then powers off. Case in point, this weekend while driving to a friend's house, I had directions in my email and would have liked to have turned off the phone, but then I would have to find the email again and open it up. On my Wizard, i would just turn it off and then back on and the email would be there for me.
Gotta be a reg hack for someone to find.

On my device, that method doesn't close the app. It just locks the keyboard and then powers off. When I power on again, the app is still running and on screen. I think that's what fire00 was looking for.

Sorry PJC ACE, my mis-type - using option + red button powers the device off WITHOUT closing the app - just like the power button on the Wizard ;-)
My apologies!
GUYS YOU'RE ABSOLUTE TREO-EXPERTS !!!!!
thanks a lot, going to dance with the Treo cause I'm so haaapyyy !! )))

Option (hold)+Red Phone button is a nice alternative, but I'd really like to find a way to prevent the Red Phone from reverting to the Today screen, so I can power off directly with it with one press...Vodafone's excuse for specifically asking for it this way (every other phone's "End" button brings you back to the "home" screen) is ridiculous, these aren't like every other phone.
I installed HTC home plugin and now my red button wont let me go into standby. I uninstalled and still not working. Any ideas?
Side Button + Suspend
There is a thread at TreoCentral that explaines how to activate the side button and make it available for button assignment in the settings screen.
Second there is a small program called suspend.
I have mapped the 1 press of the side button to suspend and away we go.
1 - Click keyguards/screen off.
Also it resume in the place or program you left when you unlock it.

where is the Start - Settings - System Key Lock?

hi, i can't seem to find keylock application that locks all hardware buttons but power when device is on sleep mode. have you got it on yours? i had it on my old tytn II
do you have a
settings->buttons->lock ?
no. have you? i've got only Program buttons, Up/Down Control and backlight tabs there
hmm...you mean setting up a lock to turn off all keys until you hit Unlock then confirm by tapping the key on the screen?
Press and hold the "End" button and that locks the device.
It is configured under start>setting>Long key press.
MIGHT NOT be the thing you are meaning though.
no, you know when you pres power button phone goes sleep mode? there should be a setting where you can decide if you want to allow other hardware buttons wake phone from sleep or other wise.
currently which ever hw button i press phone wakes up i.e send (green) button, terminate call (red button) or action (round) button.
this is no good when phone in your pocket. a small touch to any of them wakes phone up. i thought it is standart wm option as i had it since wizard
Hmm, when i power off the only thing which will power back on is pressing the power button, opening the keyboard or removing the stylus?
I've just got a touch pro and when I power off, no other buttons will wake up the phone.
That being said, I still have my Tytn II and the Key Lock application is found under Start...Settings...System...Key Lock. The Long Key Press app is not what you're after.
It seems strange that your Touch Pro wakes up on any button push. Maybe you need to change a registry setting instead?
wierd ; on mine apart from those, any button powers it up. only config tool i used is advanced confing and there isint any setting regarding this on that tool

do you know which key i should change?
On touch Pro there is no Keylock option in the settings.
Only way how to activate the device is to:
1. press power button
2. open the keyboard
3. take out the stylus
There is no config like on the HTC Touch/Diamond.
I've contacted Julien Schapman, vendor of advanced config and asked him to add this settings to his application.
this is his answer:
Ok I will look at it when I could get a Touch Pro.
Best regards,
Julien Schapman.
So I hope his new version will have this settings. This is really missing.
But maybe someone is able to export this registry path on the HTC Diamond:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\OEM\KEYBD
there should me something like
"KeyLock"=dword:1
Or maybe another. I don't know.

very cool app to unlock and lock the phone.
Tested and works on touch pro.
I'll be replacing S2U2 with this!

\Windows\Keylock.exe

I don't have this in my HD2 - any ideas if it can be installed seperately?
No idea as I have an at&t Fuze and this is a RAPH/TP/Fuze forum You might have better luck if you posted a link to this thread in the HD2 forum? Also, an alternative to s2u2, check THIS thread (QuickShutdown)

Lock TP without going to Home screen + bonus question

Hi,
I have a question about the default WM lock - is it possible to lock the device but keep the application that is running shown on the screen?
I use long press of the End key to lock the TP but it jumps back to Home screen after locking.
I know Gyrator has a feature that doesn't but I'm wondering if there is a simplier way to do this. Any registry tweaks can manage it?
Thanks for the reply.
PS: (this might seem stupid) Which button is the PTT button? I can see it in the Button settings menu but I can't figure out what to push to make the particular appl to run. Thx

So you want to be able to see the program running while your device is locked? I wouldn't know how to this because i just use the power button to put my device on standby.
BONUS!
If you look on the left side of your device, assuming you have an At&t HTC Fuze, the button under the volume up & down buttons and is marked "PTT" is the ptt button

Yep, exactly - I need my device locked but see the app running. But it's not the same as standby, I use my power button for that as well.
Bonus - this was indeed a stupid question I'm too embarassed to say that I own a non-branded TouchPro. That's why I couldn't find the button. Ah well, thanks for the reply.
I use AE Button Plus, and map a quick double press of the "red/hangup" button to lock screen.
I'm using the stock T-Mobile UK version of the Touch Pro (MDA Vario IV), still with TouchFlo3D enabled and this works with almost all applications, leaving the application running and on screen (but dimmed).
Hope that helps!

Is there a tool to manually turn off the LCD of TD2?

As I do not want to push the power button to turn off the LCD, I hope it can turn off the LCD by a menu. (e.g. Menu->Turn Off LCD)
By the way, is there a same tool to soft reset / shut down my TD2?
My OS is windows mobile 6.1 English, and the ROM is from HTC official.

Had the same "problem". Here's how to solve it:
On the "long press" event of the power button choose to run a program and insert "\Windows\PowerOffWarning.exe" (without the quotes) as program name and as arguments insert "PowerOff" (again without the quotes).

Exactly my point too.......I don't get it.
Whey go to the trouble of pressing (like you say) start menu - turn off LCD. That takes longer......
Press the power button and the screen turns off......easy does it.....
a very good tool that is working just as you described and much more is quickmenu. turn power off, switch screen orientation, free ram and much more.
windows like startmenu

[REQ] A software 'go sleep' button

I want to save the hardware of my HD2 and I'm looking for a .cab that makes a software button that acts the same like pushing the 'end call' button to enter sleepmodus.
(as same as the quite usefull software 'soft reset' button)
Anybody a hint for me?

Do I understand it right that you are searching for a tool in order not to use the default "end key" which does exactly that job very good?

yes. the end key is hardware and i prefer a software solution. you can wake-up the HD2 with every hardware key, but onlky the end key makes it go sleep. That wont last forever... so if there's a cab to provide a button on screen. well... I would go for it
The life of a hardware key is usually in the range of a million presses, so I wouldn't worrry too much. I've never had a dead power key on any of my HTC phones, and never heard of someone with that problem... You'd have to be very unlucky to get it, unless you intend to keep your HD2 for 20 years or so, but then I'd rather worry about the flash memory being dead
Solution to your request
