Page up and page down keys in pocket putty - General Questions and Answers

Hi
I think every pocket putty user knows the problem. It happens only when using screen application - page up and page down keys are treated the same as the up/down keys, and up/down keys give me number 1 and 2 instead of what they should do...
I even remember I downloaded some modified version of pocketputty, where it was fixed. I think it was even on xda-developers, but I've been now looking for months and haven't found anything... Does anyone have this version? Or maybe there's some other way to fix this problem?

Latest esmertec jbed soft key issues

I have tried a number of different jblend and jbed versions to launch java games on my touch dual. Almost all of them either produced errors, didnt launch or install the java files. I finally found one that worked which was a version of jbed called JRebeiro Esmertec Jbed which has a build ID: 20071119.3.1. This one launched all the java files perfectly.....
However, the only problem now is that I can't use the soft keys! I can use the D-pad and the keypad (numbers) to navigate through the menus, but the left/right soft keys don't work. For example, if I run Need for speed pro street, the first option is whether or not to enable sound. The 'yes' and 'no' icons show, but I cant select either soft key so I cant continue!!
I tried searching the forum and read through the whole 'midlet bible' thing but didnt find anything conclusive!
Does anyone know a solution? or even a midlet manager that has the soft keys working?

Strange, in my 3.1 copy (did you use the same as me? http://www.winmobiletech.com/092007MidletBible/JRebeiro_EsmertecJbed_20071119.3.1.zip ) works just great on my (several) Pocket PC's.
If it doesn't work at all, get Cloudyfa's 2.1: http://www.winmobiletech.com/092007MidletBible/Jbed.zip
First of all, thanks for the reply.
I had the same versions as you just showed and I had also previously tried Cloudyfa's version too. I tried out the ones you posted anyway just to be safe but I had the same problem on both...no soft keys. (BTW, The soft key buttons on screen work in the Jbed main screen, its just when I launch a java game that I cant select or use the soft keys).
What buttons do you use as the soft keys?
The only buttons left on my touch dual apart from the number pad is the start and end call buttons, the navigation/D pad, the volume up and down keys and the camera button. Only the navigation/d-pad buttons seem to when I launch a game in Jbed, but the other keys function as normal (if i press the call button, the phone dialer appears, or if i press the camera button, it launches the camera).
So are the soft key buttons on the touchscreen (icons shown on the touchscreen) meant to work? Or is the touch dual lacking the necessary buttons?

oic. I've always used hardware buttons; no wonder in-game softkeys don't work (they aren't supposed to).
use a button redefiner; for example, AEBPlus, to map left/right softkey functionality to the existing buttons (for example, Camera)
Thanks for that. I finally solved it!
I went and got AEBplus like you said and I noticed it showed the left and right soft keys eventhough there arent any on the touch dual. Then I went to check the actual buttons option in the windows setting tab and found that I can map some of the shortcut buttons as left/right soft keys! Everything works perfectly now. Just got to find the right buttons to map the left/right soft keys.
Finally solved that problem! I'm surprised no one mentioned this anywhere else.....probably because its a touch dual specific problem.

Some button issues with TNT

I've been pretty happy with this phone, especially since I got WM6 on it but I'd like to be able to use Morphgear as an emulator. When I do, I like to use it in "west" orientation with my left thumb on the control pad and my two main buttons as Button 1 (the "mail" button) and Button 5 (the "comm manager" button) so I can press them at the same time with my thumb on 1 and my index finger on 5. When I try to map the buttons that way in Morphgear, it calls Button 5 Button 6 instead and it doesn't work in game. I thought it might be a Morphgear issue but I've tried it with other emulators and it doesn't work in them either. Why is that? Is there any way to correct it? Another annoying issue is that whenever I accidentally press the center of the control pad and Button 1 at the same time it wants to align the screen.
Any help?

that combination is probably a built in feature to pull up the align screen program for your device, and i am pretty sure can be removed by tweaking the reg. settings that correspond to the short cut.
You should post your issue under the tnt rom thread to avoid creating redundant threads.
cheers
try vjcalibrula .
it may turn calibration combo off... it works on wizard, at last..

Keyboard Key ID problems

Hello everyone,
I have a problem with my Fuze when I try mapping a specific key in a program and it doesn't sense the proper key that I pressed. I noticed this in a couple of programs (not just games) so I downloaded a bunch of games just to test this out. In almost all games, I noticed that the arrow keys and some of the special keys are mappable, but all the alphabet keys are not. No matter which one I choose, none of the game or programs recognize the difference in keys. They either don't see em or give them the same Key ID.
Worse yet, the mappable special keys still launch programs in the background killing whatever I am doing. This is infinitely annoying. I did not flash a custom ROM. I am using the latest HTC FUZE rom from their website. The only thing I did different was I soft reset during ROM loading to kill the bloatware. Everything else runs correctly. It's not a hardware problem; all my text are fine; no issues with the FUZE seeing the different key strokes. I have no issues texting. It definitely seems like the Fuze keeps the same key ID for all of the same types of keys allowing them not to be mapped.
Is this a problem with the ROM (HTC May 2009)? Would using NRG latest ROM fix this? Should I go back to AT&T's latest ROM (AT&T April 2009 I think)? Please anyone that knows about this please let me know if you are experiencing this and how to fix. Thank you.
I am sorry if this is not the right place or if I am not posting in the right section, but I searched this forum/internet for hours and I am totally out of ideas. I downloaded a couple of programs, but they only changed the layout to flash non-Fuze ROMS etc. This is one of my first posts, so I apologize. This site is awesome.
Thanks,
nwdst
More info
I have looked into the wiki a bit before, but I dove back in so I can't be blamed for not reading it. I noticed the following two under tips:
#1
Keyboard Patch (For users with an AT&T Fuze)
File Can be found Here
#2
Start Menu and OK Buttons on the H/W Keyboard
If you would like to add custom keys (including Start and OK buttons) see here for customizing the Touch Pro Keyboard: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=424905 (Post #7 and #12)
For #1, what does the patch do? When I click on it it gives me the cab; but I don't know anything more about. What is the "Patch"?
For #2, I understand that you can map the the OK and start keys, but do I need to remap every key on the board? I still want the keys to do what they do just not when I run a certain program. Can a program do this for me?
1. The patch fixes a non AT&T TouchPro keyboard to function on an AT&T Fuze as they have different mappings.
2. Hardware keys can be mapped but not for specific functions within specific programs.
Thanks
Ok. I will not install the patch.
I understand that you can remap keys but I still don't understand why the key ID under most programs still remains the same for all alpha characters on my keyboard. Is this the same case for anyone with a cooked or At&t rom? I have latest HTC Rom.

[Q] Help - Phone's virtual keys "shifted" down

Hi,
I'm on a Topaz with WinMo 6.5 Hebrew enabled but English interface.
Lately the number keys in the phone application are shifted one row down. I mean' when I press a number, the phone thinks I pressed the number one row below that. (i.e. If I press the place showing 5, an 8 will be dialed)
Oddly the "TALK" button and the "backspace" arrow button next to it do function normally, as does the whole screen in any other application.
My verbal explanation is not so clear, so please see the attachment. A screenshot with explanatory text.
Any idea what could have caused this? or how to fix it?
I was thinking about removing and re-installing the phone application, but don;t know how to do that, so any help in that direction would also be welcome.
Thanks!
~Azaria.
What is the right forum for this question?
It really bothers me, so really want to solve it.

Turning into a desperate situation, newbie here

Its my trackball click, key 272. I'm able to use it only during CWM recovery (such as key test) but can't use it while actually using my phone itself. Like for games or browsing internet like I used to.
I use a rooted my touch 4g with the latest aokp rom
Edit: if I hold down trackball while moving to a general direction it registers as a click, VERY inconvenient for playing my usual games requiring a trackball. I also tried exploring files such as qwerty.kl and such using androzip text viewer but got caught in an endless loading loop

Edit again: I believe this is related to why I can't trackball click.

I'm a newbie mindlessly surfing Google for answers all day, please if anyone could help me find a workaround
Edit: I've been up all night and managed to find a quick fix (still sucks for trackball-specific games during those split-second moments) I downloaded buttonremaper from xda and switched my menu key to dpad center.
It works for the most part, but like I stated earlier I'm still stuck to making the phone recognize the dpad center (it says its key 272 in CWM recovery key test)
Also, I have heard dpad center can also be key 232?
Bump?
