I'm posting this here since it's more of a general WM5 question...
I'm very happy with the new ROM for my HTC Wizard, and Push Email especially.
However, in Microsofts infinite wisdom I am not alerted when new e-mail arrives in subfolder to the main Inbox (however, I am alerted when I get new email in the main inbox). I'm not very surprised since Outlook 2000/XP/2003 works the same way, but it is very annoying having unread e-mail I don't know about.
Is there a program or a ToDay-plugin or a registry setting or anything that enable alerts for new e-mail in subfolders?
*bump*
I would very much like to have this feature as well. I receive emails when servers go down, and I have an Outlook rule setup to send the email to a subfolder under my Inbox. I do not receive any notifications when I get emails in those subfolders. Did anybody ever figure out a way to get this working? I have a Cingular 8125 (HTC Wizard).
I am sorry to bring up this old thread but I have the exact same question I seach around and didn't find anything. I also seach HF and seem like no one know if notificiation for sub folder is possible.
Can someone verifiy if getting email notification for sub folders is possible? I have a 8125 running wwm6 rom.
bump up to the top - looking for the same feature.
I am looking for this same feature. I am using emoze to sync my inbox and a few subfolders. I am using a AT&T Tilt (HTC kaiser) with WM 6.
So there is still no solution to this ?
It is a "feature" of Outlook.
Desktop and Mobile versions do not notify the system that subfolders have received a message. Desktop 2003 used to do this, and then it was removed.
I don't have a workaround for the Mobile version. On the Desktop, I use search folders instead of subfolders. It sucks, but it works.
The reason subfolders don't notify, is that most subfolders are used for non-important messages (i.e. spam, or system notifications). I get over 200 emails an hour about servers being up/down. So, I get a lot of notices. However, using subfolders, I never saw anything!!!
Yes I understand the rationale behind the 'feature'. But I have important mail in the subfolders. Unfortunately at this time there seems to be nothing we can do.
I was hoping a registry entry which would let us add a subfolder path or something like that.
Voice Command Will Tell You (sometimes)
I think there must be an event that can be trapped if someone (more capable than I) can cobble together a few lines of code.
I have MS Voice Command with the JetWare bluetooth addon. On my 8125 running WM5, I would get the read-out-loud notifications for mail delivered to subfolders. I've recently upgraded to a Tilt with WM6 and this bug/feature doesn't repeat.
I think this is a feature that many "power users" would appreciate... at least as an option.
Have a look at SPB Diary. This can show your emails on the today screen...including subfolders that you choose.
Did anyone ever find a better solution to this?
I saw people asking the same question here: http://discussion.wmexperts.com/showthread.php?p=1409571

I'm sure there's loads of other places where this has been suggested. It just seems like an obvious feature to me, especially if you are promoting WM6 as a business tool.

Too many notifications...
On a related note, this question:
My Hermes (AT&T 8525, WM5) alerts me when new mail arrives... that's no problem. However, If I don't stop and read it then, the next time it syncs it notifies me again about the same mail. Is there any way to set this up so that it will only sound a notification when something *NEW* comes in?
Thanx,

I have an a ATOM-WM05 and a MDA compact WM03
wich commercial or shareware alternative software/applications can you recommend to substitute the folowing:
- MS contacts (on wm05)
Bug: if you select a filter (say "business contacts") it is not reained as soon as you close contacts application. On wm03 it was
- search function (too slow on wm05)
- SMS application (on wm05)> missing fields CC and BCC (they were present in WM03)
Thanks and waiting

missing fields
...another reason I am looking for a contacts replacement or contacts viewer is that, after syncrhinizing with DESKTOP-MS-Outlook, the following contacts fields are missing (on pocket PC wm05):
missing fields on Pocket PC Outlook are:
callback:
companymissing in wm03, ok in wm05!)
ISDN:
other:
other fax:
primary:
telex:
TTY:
On www.handango.com and www.pocketgear.com I see there are no
applications as "contacts replacements" or "contacts viewer" compatible with wm05.
Is it true? Have you trialed anyone?
Thanks

Just wondering if anyone has any similar experience: I have configured my personal mailbox on my Vox using IMAP4. In the Account Settings under Advanced Settings for the Sending options I selected "When deleting messages: keep them on the server".
Strangely that is exactly what does NOT happen - messages ARE deleted from the server
Any ideas anyone? Is there a registry setting that I should be looking at?
many thanks!
1. Messaging's IMAP handling is pretty much messed up, even in WM6. Use an alternative, IMAP-capable app not having this problem. For example, give a try to FlexMail.
(I'll also re-check this problem and accordingly update my IMAP Bible to reflect WM6 and Smartphone-related issues.)
2. Moving the thread to General because Messaging bugs are common to all Smartphones.
Thank you
It would be great if you could organise all the entries in your contacts into groups (hierarchies of groups would be even better).
It is a pain to have a list of 200-300 to scroll through.
If I could organise contacts into folders like work contacts, friends, etc it would be pretty useful.
Anybody know if this is possible?
suggestion
i used 'tag'. in the notes of each of my contact i put my custom tags. when i need to find them i used a T9 plugin on my home screen to type the tags. good luck
I've just spent time prefixing each entry with a letter C (customer) W (work) P (personal) etc.
At least they are now grouped in sections in the list which helps a lot.
I would have thought folder grouping would be a not very complicated and pretty useful enhancement to the WM6 contacts feature - maybe next time.
Don't you have "Categories" as a field in your contact entry window? It's right underneath "Home addr" and just above "Other Addr".
It allows you to organize contacts into the same categories that you can apply to tasks and appointments -- Personal, Business, Holiday, Seasonal, or user defined. The only thing you requested that's unavailable is nesting.
Update: Maybe it only appears unorganized because WM6's default contacts lister does not sort by category. I'm using SPB Diary and they are indeed sorted.
Is there similar application like Psiloc GSync is for Symbian phones?
http://shop.psiloc.com/en/Application,262287,Psiloc+GSync
"Psiloc GSync allows you to automatically archive all of your SMS and MMS messages on the Gmailâ„¢ account. The SMS/MMS messages appear as e-mails, are marked as read and labelled as SMS/MMS. Messages exchanged with the same people are grouped into threads. You can configure how often the messages are archived."
At the short search I did not find anything like that...
