Maybe a leak is on it's way?
Is there a way to sign up for these kind of things? or is it random?

If there was, it would be with HTC, not Verizon. Remember this is an HTC soak test (if it is indeed legit) and NOT Verizon, so don't get your hopes up for the update this soon.
Since there are only ten devices going out, what do you think the chance is that someone who wants to upload it here will get one?

The chance is around zero or less. Anyone who gets one of the phones will surely have to sign a NDA and I'll bet it'll be an NDA with teeth in it....
Question
I had a quick question what exactly does a soak test imply? I just see that term around and wondered what it meant. Thanks
HTC sends a preview, kind of a rough draft to a few people for feedback. This info helps them work out kinks and glitches before releasing to the masses. Hopefully someone that gets to do this testing will be kind enough to share with us.

If you could test what would you like to test for? It not the easiest thing in the world to do and takes a lot of your time. You have to report in with your testing and write up reports about the testing.

I wouldnt do it because you would likely not be able to be rooted
Rooting a phone that's being tested would sort of defeat the purpose right?
Here, sir, please root our test build and let us know the flaws...

I suspect testers will have to sign an NDA. Since there's so few it should be easy to find anyone who leaks the ROM.
None the less, I sure hope someone does leak it SOON!
... maybe just leak a couple drivers, kernel and radio

I dont think so, we had same issue with Sensation and Elevate program, but as soon as rom landed on HTC servers, xda community was able to grab rom and enjoy ... I think same thing will happen for Thunderbolt..... finger crossed
Just curious, but...
It seems like, as of late, someone starts to build a new ROM, then stops updating after 2 or 3 rc's, leaving the ROM unfinished. I understand the ROMs are created in someone's spare time, but why start a ROM if you never intend to finish it? Why not finish it before you start something else, or just delete the development thread so we're not sitting here waiting for the next release that never seems to come? No offense to anyone, just curious.
Roms are never really finished you can always add new functions
, themes etc.

Quit flashing ROMs since you'll never have a 100% guarantee that someone will finish a ROM. Go back to stock GB which has a bad modem and reboot problems. Oh wait, Samsung didn't exactly give you a good ROM either.
Why is it that if the ROM never gets a final version its assumed its unfinished? The unfinished ROMs, ics mutt, cm7, miui, are all still works in progress (well maybe not miui, not sure of it's future). Seems to me everything else is fully functional and doesn't require anything else.
All the the most recent ones, unnamed, vb, icbinb, scom, these are problem free. Just find the right kernel and modem for your phone and they qualify as finished.

Im still updating mine but this post makes me not want to
And like the post above me said the title doesnt have to be final for it to be final. Also, the dev can choose to start a new rom bc people want the new mod they are bringing to it along with a new theme and tweaks.
So thank you devs for the many roms you guys release.
if you ain't first you're last
I think you should aim to non beta ROMs. At least this way you know you get a fully functional ROM. Regarding Final version, forget about it. Won't happen, won't be announced.

most developers acknowledge that there are going to be some dev cycles involved in their releases. I guess some non-developers either don't realize that or haven't picked up on that yet.
Nothing's perfect so take it as it is and don't complain, and if it has a "final" tag on it, it just means the developer is done working on it. Beggars can't be choosers, and choosers can download the source and modify it themselves (or fsck it up even more ).
Quit your belly aching dude, instead, a little appreciation would be a welcome change. We have so many different options to choose from. And every time my noob ass bricks my phone these guys have a post on how to fix it. Fb is right, go back to stock if it bothers you so much, but I'll stick with my 2 day battery life.
side note: on dictionary. com the word of the day is ungrateful turdlicker.

I think that people get desperate when devs release and early version of a rom instead of an almost final. I think it would be best to release the "final" version to public and since there are many devs with the phone and so many wise users that know how to test and report correctly. In my humble opinion, a dev should pick a group of testers, silently and then release a "final" that probably would have 0 to very few changes. That way devs don't get pissed when people ask same questions and bring up many problems.
I have no problem testing or trying alpha, beta, charlie, delta......... zeta releases, but my concern is with devs releasing lots of projects and getting mad by people asking how to this and how to that. Yeah, read... blablabla yadda yadda... I know no one is in the obligation of doing nothing, either flash or develop or answer questions or help. Thing is that this is a community very diverse and noobs are going to be noobs, haters gonna hate and passive people will be passive...
No need to flame the OP. I think it's a good question, tho.
considering i no longer have a sgs4g it would be hard to update it. The rom itself is fine.. Don't see an issue. If you don't like the theme change it. If you don't like the rom learn how to make your own.

When a rom is release an OP comes with it where bugs known are said from the get go. As for bug reported devs are fine with them as long as logs are attached and they are real bugs and not just "I want a better theme" or "how do I install this rom".
As for flaming, it's actually a rule that we can't do this to one another on xda.

Yup I don't think people appreciate the time put in. And the reason we get early releases is because we all want something new, and we can help bug test. But eh.

and i am not really sure you know why it was set like that.. if you just took the time to read the original tread instead of just forking a repo, click OK on update message when prompted and call it v3, maybe you would know.. btw! yeah HUGE update, it really deserves a vs naming upgrade..

Hi there
I just did one commit for now, gradle deps update, but i intend to do some optimizations with the current code plus some redesigning etc. I don't have time to work on it now, as I have some exams and yes I agree that naming it v3 would be too unreasonable, I'll change that. After exams, I'll probably start working on it ;-;
I set it to higher cause many old(lp/mm) roms that use rom control has stopped development, and it's mostly newer roms that are based on nougat that are constantly pushing out new updates, hence I targeted 25.
I know you guys left the project and thus i wanted to continue with some minor updates

The project is still ongoing.
Hwile it's true that it's all under gpl, and you're free to use whole or parts of it as you please, you cannot make v3.0 of the original project. It just doesn't work like this. You're not part of the team. You want to have your own project, you're welcome to the code or parts of it. But you don't get to create the new version of an existing project without at least consulting with us first. The project is still ongoing. The latest version is v2.1. What you did here is ridiculous at the very least.
We haven't stopped the project. The development on it continuous. And BTW setting the target sdk to nougat will render it unusable as data app. And if you were an Android developer, you would understand that. It's well explained on our original thread, where btw, the development continues.
So yeah... Have a great day.

Nobody on XDA is an official Huawei developer, bug reports for the beta test are supposed to be reported to them through the beta test app that you should have installed on your device, not here on XDA. That's the whole idea of being a beta tester, find bugs and report them to Huawei. If that's not your cup of tea then leave the program and roll back to Nouget and wait on the official release

That is understandable, sorry if I sounded a little gruff in my response to your question, some of these threads are flooded with people that just don't get it, glad you could document some of the bugs. I'm running MHA-L29 8.0.0.321 (C567) which I presume is the same build you are a beta tester for, I haven't really noticed any "bugs" of any consequence. There are a few things that aren't working properly, like pip (doesn't work under EMUI, but does under my pixel 2 launcher I have installed), but it's pretty much useless anyway. Have you had any major issues with the Oreo build you are running as far as major functions go? I installed it mainly as I wanted the security update and the 4.4 kernel (a lot of code changes between 4.2 and 4.4)

been using many rom, on many devices and for many years now.
This one was for me on whyred the most stable (or the most quickly fixed), keeping battery pretty good and with a good concept. I even used it on other devices since i liked it a lot.
That's the reason why it bother us.
the dev made a great job maintaining this ROM and was updating it regularly. for the first time i consider staying on a ROM that is potentially no more developped
The best custom rom, it's custom but it's cleanest
If you ever wonder why devs struggle to find motivation to work for the community, just find the first Pie FW update from henrique in PE thread and read the posts until the last page. Despite the fact that it was clearly noted to update firmware to Pie version and it was written how to do it, there were 4-5 pages per day (not posts, PAGES) filled with questions:
- bootloop, help pls
- can't flash, error in twrp
- how to update
Literally.
And that's everything you need to know about Whyred community.
1- If the rom is stable, you can live without updates.
2- José is "back", he bought a new whyred.

Is there an archive with the older pixel experience roms and their respective changelogs somewhere?

The developers must link their jobs, social life etc. with making great roms. They need to sacrifice their free time to maintain the rom, fix the problems they encounter with debugging and people complain because they almost never read OP. Without thanking the dev, supporting him, what kind of monsters have this community become? Asking simple questions, which they just can search in like 5 seconds to find an answer... Shame on those people, may they regret now what've they done.

Most of the devs are stopping because of the annoyances of the users, even more when the person does not have a device, it gets worse.
