Will disabling the start-up animations make the boot-up faster?
I actually don't particularly care if it makes it faster or not. I just want my phone to be silent on boot-up instead of the "chime" tone that happens right now.
How do I disable the start-up animations?
I have a Vouge running Vin's 6.5.1 ROM 23071
Easiest way is with Schap's Advanced Config.
Is there another More simple way ? for the HD2 (Leo)
Can just do it via REG:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\HTCAnimation]
"StartupWav"="\\Windows\\silent.wav"
The phone wont be any faster to boot without the animation
Have attached a .cab that will do the above reg and place silent.wav in Win Dir "not sure if all ROMs have it"
Find it funny that using the new HTC Animation it says quietly brilliant yet it plays noise kinda contradictory.
The boot animation is just something to fill the void while booting

THanks Mate it works great

Okay, I've searched through the registry and \windows folder and cannot find the startup noise that is played after a soft reset, when the system is loading.
It's very loud and would like to get rid of it. I do have my "system" sounds turned off e.g. "Events" and it doesn't help.
Try here: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Palm\Varnish\DialLookupPlugin\PhoneStatus

Nope. I saw that one too.
That's for turning the phone (radio) on/off and then it shows you that Carrier logo splash screen.
I need when WM5 boots up...
In fact, I can't even find the sound file that is playing when it boots. I thought it was "notify.wav" but that's not it.
You'd think it would be here:
\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\SystemStart\Sound
But \SystemStart\Sound doesn't exist and I can't find anything similar.
Really baffling (and yes, I know I could just throw the vibrate switch on, but not at 4 am when I do a sched. reset!).
Found it - Disable Startup Sound Treo 700wx
I, too, have been searching for this one. The problem isn't technically when restarting the Treo 700wx, it actually had to do with the device realizing that an SD card has been inserted (which it happens to do at startup).
Here's the registry key:
HKCU\\ControlPanel\Volume\SDInsertSound\File
This was set to "Alarm1.wav", I changed it to "No Sound.mid" (a blank sound file).
Enjoy!
ok guys ive added the sounds and animations that i wanted to the windows folder on my phone, after that i went into the registry and changed the proper registry's but still the startup and shutdown animations/sounds wont work and the rickwyatt rom im using has the oemstartup.dll which is responsible of this files function, though the splash screen does work which i also changed, so yeah any help will be apreciated.
Try Nitrogenious rom,SP1,there work sound and animations.
i know that mate lol
I installed WM6.5 to my Fuze and it now has the black HTC logo on startup, then skips the AT&T animation, and shows the orange Windows screen.
Now, I don't want the AT&T one back but I downloaded the default HTC start-up GIF and WAV files for the Kaiser, and I want to use them on my Fuze. The problem is, under HKLM/Software/HTC/StartupAnimation, there is nothing there. And I don't know the first thing about recreating what should be in there.
Any ideas?
Assuming that you put "default HTC start-up GIF and WAV files for the Kaiser" in the correct place, then find/search for FUZE Tweak application (or TouchPRO or Diamond tweak, whatever people call) to re-enable it. It is located in 12.1 and 12.2 in the mentioned app menu.
Thanks
I had that app when my Fuze had WM6.1, can't believe I didn't remember it.
I'll see if it works, they should be in the right place.
Thanks, I installed it and enabled but still nothing happened. I think it's because normally it would have DWORDS and strings in that folder, and the Diamond Tweak app would know what to change, but on my phone, there is nothing in that folder. So the tweak app doesn't have anything to change.
In that case, does anyone care to post what is in the StartupAnimation folder on their Raphael?
I'm not sure what happened, but I've been noticing that now when I boot up my VZW TP2, the launching touchflo 3d screen pops up, then goes away and there is nothing but a black background and the windows taskbar.
The black screen looks like a program with an all black background and no text/content, it has an X in the upper right hand corner and I can click that X to reveal TF3D.. I can also click anywhere on the screen and/or END key and reveal TF3D.
This happens at startup every time now.
Things I've done since I noticed the problem;
Installed HDBoobs
Installed Diamond Halogram w/ ATi Graphics Driver
Put HTCAPI.dll in the \windows\ directory
Installed .NET CF 3.5
Installed Schap's Registry Editor
Installed J.S. Advanced Configuration Tool 3.3
Installed Ilium Software Screen Capture
Installed Windows Live (newest version)
Installed Microsoft Facebook Application
Did '7MP Panorama' Tweak
Did 'Reveal 5 Hidden Camera Settings' Tweak
Things I've done after noticing the problem;
Installed Microsoft ICS
Installed Garmin MobileXT
Did 'Close Opera with X instead of minimize' registry mod
Did 'ResProxy ShareMemSize=0' registry mod
Installed NoPushInternet
EDIT 1:
I've now removed;
'ResProxy ShareMemSize=0' registry mod (slowed me down too much)
HDBoobs
Diamond Halogram w/ ATi Graphics Driver
Nothing has changed.
EDIT 2:
I had it setup to be password protected. After removing the password option and soft-resetting, the problem is gone. Is this a bug? Is there a fix for this? I know it seems minuscule, but this isn't how it should work and I want to fix it
I'd like to avoid doing a hard reset if possible.. so any advice, other than 'ignore it' would be appreciated.
I think that I have the same thing happening. I don't think that it was like this out of the box, but I'm not sure when it started. Basically, my phone loads showing the taskbar at the top and the two soft keys at the bottom. Everything in between is black. If I touch the screen, then the TouchFlo stuff shows up. After that, it's fine.
I do have a lock code enabled. It was forced by an Exchange Server policy. Not sure if this "issue" arose at that point or not.
I asked the same question here... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=560636
Seems to be related to having the PIN lock enabled. I too am required to use this for work reasons, and have not found a way to get TF3D to display on boot up without having to touch the screen.

At least we're not alone.. now it's a known issue, hopefully someone will look further into it (since I don't know how to fix it)

Here too
First I installed XDA shutdown to perform soft resets. Then the memmaid demo to further my efforts to be clean & mean. Just installed s-k-tools to my HTC Sprint Touch Pro 2 (because memmaid demo misreported my memory!)and after running clean I'm getting cprog.exe & sktools.exe errors and now "bluetooth stack failed to load" -my friggin bluetooth wont load. Only other non stock thing is Duttys disable push internet. Did I make a mistake in purchasing this tweakware? Can I rectify these situations without a hard reset? Somewhere along the way the black screen thing occurred too.

Do you have a password-required device lock setup? If so, and you're getting the black-screen issue just after you unlock your phone when you first boot it up (from an off state), then you're probably in the same boat as us..

Same issue here.... yes I have a PIN lock code.

interesting. I don't have the code, and I've never seen this. Then again other software installed might make a difference.
WTF is HDBoobs?
LOL... I had the same question.
Believe it or not . . .

Hi, I've been looking around the forum and playing with my HD2 and was wondering if anyone knows how to change the "HTC Quietly Brilliant" screen that comes up everytime you start a new browser session. I've seen how to change the main startup screen (but I never turn my phone off so don't need to) but is it as easy to do this screen too as I'd prefer to use a custom picture if possible.
I have tried a search but using terms such as splashscreen doesn't bring much up that relates to this.
Thanks
*EDIT*: I've actually solved it now after looking through all the folders I found the file "Opera_loading_POR_16bit_default.png" has to be changed and it comes up with your picture. Sorry should've played for longer before posting.

yeah!! get rid of it! Damn it HTC! We all have already known we are holding and using a HTC, argghhhh! I takes like few seconds before the Opera can start working.
Just set the Opera splashscreen registry setting to zero in the HKLM...
HKLM/Software/Opera/Info and change 'showsplashscreen' from 1 to 0
