Greetings ppl
A while ago I was searching for a way to make finger scrolling in start/programs a bit faster. I found a small registry tweak somewhere (maybe here), but when I entered it nothing happened.
Well sort of. I now see that scrolling in programs folder is normal, however scrolling in other areas, like sms inbox and add/remove programs list is superfast, and in no way useable.
I know, I know, fail.
Problem is, I don't remember the setting which I changed so I can get scrolling speed back to normal (double fail)... any ideas?
sorry to be a pain in the back cover, but any ideas?
Well, turns out that setting both TF3D sensitivity and TF3D finger pressure to Intermediate or High (DiamonTweak 14.1/14.2) caused everything else to scroll at twice the speed!
Setting sensitivity to intermediate and finger pressure to default turned everything back to normal! Weird thing is, I tested those settings on my HD as well, and they didn't seem to have any effect on other apps!

hi,
Just recently upgraded from my old wizard to the polaris and really enjoy the slim yet feature packed device. However the touchscreen on the polaris seems to be much less sensitive than the one on the wizard -- it feels like I have to use double the pressure for the "click" to occur. I'm using the supplied screen protector.
Now is this something that can be tweaked with a setting somewhere or just the way it is with the polaris?
Yes, can be tweaked in the reg. It's an item called "BioTouch", easily found in the forum. (e.g. the sticky "tweaks and tricks")
I have noticed that coming from the universal too. There is a registry setting somewhere that I tweaked that seems to improve things but not by much. It wasnt in biotouch though - can you elaborate on what to change in the biotouch?
The change I made was:

Actually, I just put that setting (Pressure Threshold) back to default - it seems to have no effect! Does anyone know what it is supposed to do? It seems as if my screen has become slightly more responsive through use???

Did you do a soft reset after making the changes to the registry. Usually it's a good idea after a change to do so.
Yup indeed I did - still no change!
My pressure threshold was actually lower than the default. Now changed it to 20866 and I found the touch keyboard and other menus respond much better. Thanks!
Hmm.. mine was set at 19566 -- changed it to 20866 now, reset and I don't know if there really is any difference, still feels unresponsive... guess I'll just have to wait for a device with a capacitive touchscreen.
similar question: can the sensitivity for the scrollwheel be changed? I would like it to work much faster than the default.

Yeah, me too! You've got to turn it 30° or so to make it scroll.
I put the touchscreen sensitivity at 50866, now it really feels like a capacitive touchscreen (although I actually don't know how this feels like ). Great for typing with PocketCM Keyboard!
Well, I have mine at 188660 and it makes no difference
I change the key to 50866 and its much better!
I have a Fuze with the stock HTC rom on it. recently my fuze started doing something strange when I slide the keyboard out and change the screen orientation to landscape. when a text entry field is on the screen, in SMS sending, internet explorer, word. etc...anyplace I enter text, the text itself isn't readable. its all bunched up in one spot on the screen. when I change the screen orientation back to vertical it becomes readable. if i type to say, send an SMS i can't read it until i send it or reorientate the screen. I recently installed the following programs, not sure if any of them are causing the problem - Advanced Config 3.3, Sushi's Diamond TF3D Config, IM+ by shape services. I also have the fuze keyboard fix istalled. I already uninstalled both IM+ and the keyboard fix but neither of those seemed to be the cause (I reistalled them after checking to see if they were the problem by restarting the fuze-the problem still remained). Does anyone have this problem? Does anyone have any idea what might be causing the problem or how to fix it???
Thanks for any help
I've got a Touch Pro with the same issue
Hope someone has a solution, otherwise that little keyboard becomes quite useless
I had the same problem. Turning off Cleartype in landscape mode using advanced config finally fixed it for me!
I tried the cleartype solution. that did it. Must be some incompatibility with Adv. Config 3.3 and the new FUZE..hopefully this bug will be fixed in a subsequent version of Adv. config!!! Thanks for the help!

First download Diamond Tweak:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=409540&highlight=Diamond+Tweak
Once you have that downloaded on your phone, open it up and go to:
17. Diary > 17.7 ClearType in landscape mode > Enabled (advised)
This will allow you to type in landscape mode with cleartype enabled in most of the apps you will use, from internet to sms (text messages). However, this still does not work when trying to add a contact while in landscape mode. In order to add a contact using your keyboard, you will need to disable cleartype.
Cleartype is a know bug in WinMo 6.1
Hi,
I had the same problem you are having, and after reading around these forums, the fault seems to have nothing to do with Diamond Tweak or Advance Config or your IM program. The problem is WinMo itself. Cleartype in Landscape is screwed up.
Many people have the same symptoms:
- disappearing text in menus
- bunched up text
- invisible text in input boxes
The WinMo bug is not caused by the config tools, but perhaps exacerbated by them, because many people turn on Cleartype using these tools. To make things confusing, Cleartype can be globally activated in the registry, tweaked using config tools, switched in the WinMo UI settings, or switched inside individual applications. All these switches may or may not agree with each other, or over-ride each other - so it's hard to say when Cleartype is in effect. But I suppose you can tell, because your screen is messed up!
From what I can tell after an hour of reading around, there is no solution to the problem. The work-around is to turn OFF Cleartype in as many places as possible, particularly for landscape, since portrait is bug-free. The following global setting in the registry is a great place to start. It fixed my problems:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \System\GDI \ClearTypeSettings]
"OffOnRotation"=dword :1
Some out there have called "turning off Cleartype in landscape" a fix. It isn't. A fix would be to make cleartype work. For me, I'm satisfied with the work-around.
Good luck.

had the same problem, went crazy and hard reset, added back tweaks carefully and same problem showed up. There is no problem with the stock at&t rom, it's just annoying to have to live in that "box". I went to the reg edit, it was set at dword :1, so I turned off cleartype in landscape mode (diamond tweak) and portrait mode start\settings\system\screen\ and it is working fine now. Thank you for your input, it lead me to the solution.
the registry hack solved my annoying problem too.
have searched this and other forums to find a solution,
thanks for sharing your experience
Thank you - this worked perfectly for me too.
Hm, old thread but I guess it's worth updating.
For anyone who is still encountering the landscape-cleartype bug, please note that it has been fixed in many of the newer ROMs due to driver updates. I can only vouch for the Da_G ROM (since that's the one I'm using), but ClearType does work correctly in landscape mode.
So if you haven't already, be sure to test-drive a new ROM.
My keyboard has been lagging and doing other strange things that has got me worried. I did a hard reset on it yesterday and before I even installed any software I was forced to use the on-screen board for a spell as the slide out was un-responsive. I chalked it up to some background process being a hog and moved on. Now I'm finding some consitencies.
On a fresh reboot if I open the notes app in landscape mode and start typing I can see the cursor moving but nothing else till I get about 75% across the screen and then there are some black artifacts that now look like a ton of characters all bunched up in the space of about 3 positions wide. If I keep typing till it does a return then the entire line of text shows up and the process repeats itself on the next line.
If I have a full page of text open in say Total commander's text editor in portrait mode and slide the keyboard out, it will make a pattern of those black artifacts diagonally down the screen toward the left side and it will not correct itself. If I go back to portrait mode all is well again. There is seriously something wrong here.
I can't find any information from searching on the problem but hoping one of the experts here could shed some light on it and let me know if it's time to think about a return. Will try to uncover more if I can.
Many Thanks,
Eidolen
I took some screens of the problem. Both pics on the bottom are the same document but left is with TC's editor and the right is Word. Upper right is word as well. Hopefullt the attachment makes it through, if not I can host and link to it.
If you are running a stock ROM without any customizations (you said you hard reset your device), then chances are you have a defective Fuze. You should exchange it through AT&T's 30 day return policy.
If you're not running a stock ROM, then maybe you have an unstable one. Flash Da_G's clean ROM and see if the issue still occurs. Since that ROM has very little installed by default, the chances of a software conflict are slim.
Please post back here with your status.
I was thinking the same thing but the one thing I can't reproduce is when the keyboard doesn't respond at all. Maybe the graphics and the responsiveness are 2 different things?? I'm wondering if clear-type might have something to do with the graphics but that shouldn't lag the keyboard.
Gonna disable Clear-type now and will report back.
Eidolen
Well if I would have done a search with cleartype I would have found my answer, sorry I didn't figure it out sooner. At least pople can see what cleartype looks like on the Fuze in landscape mode if they were wondering. Apparently there is no fix known other than to turn it off. Hopefully the laggy response clears up as well but not getting my hope up. Thanks for your response.
Eidolen
What an odd thing for ClearType to do in landscape mode... as for laggy response, flashing a clean ROM would give you a good gauge as to how preinstalled apps can affect such lag.
Same thing happens to me but in txt'in sometimes my keyboard dont work at all and i have to restart the device, but this has happen to me only 3 times and the keyboard still have life cuz when i hit the fn key or shift the light comes on indicating that i put them on. as for screen lag i bearly get screen lag, because i did some hack i saw in this thread and it seems to of help alittle
by the way am using the ROMeOS2, i was wondering if i was the only person with this problem but apperently not.
Yep I got the same problem. I installed the NullKb cab on my phone to keep the kb from popping up in Opera. It didn't work. I uninstalled NullKb, It still shows up as selectable under other input options. The lag got progressively worse and even resets will not get the keyboard to work.
I've got the same problem. It's really strange.
I used ROMeOS but now am back to Australian Three official rom.
It seems like, when ClearType is active, I can't see what I am writing with the keyboard in LandScape mode. Even stranger is that when you write an SMS, the keyboard writes fine as there is T9 active.
I really need a fix for this as this has started to frustrate me.
I found having "clear type" activated was my problem as well. I turn it off and my kb is back to usual normal. I have a euro stock unit. Very happy with the rest of it's performance. I can live without cleartype.

Hi:
I had the same problems. I fixed it by disabling cleartype in landscape (using Diamond Tweaks), and then installing the Fuze Keyboard fix cab, which I am attaching here for you, in case you want to try it. I'm sorry I don't remember the original post I got it from. After doing these 2 things, everything seems to be working great for me.
Happy New year everyone!
I have a problem that I could not find an answer to by doing a search. When I try to access my email folders in landscape mode I can see the folders but no words. (I can see the inbox folder but it does not say inbox next to it). Near some of the folders it looks as if all of the letters of the folder names have been place one on top of each other. It almost looks like a Chinese symbol. Sometime this is right next to the folder other times it is all the way across the screen. When the phone is in the portrait mode everything is fine. It is as if the screen isn't drawing properly.
I hope this make sense and I hope i am using the proper terms. Please go easy on me as I am new to this phone and really don't understand some of the thinks on this forum.
Thanks for any advice you might have!!!
I am seeing the same problem on my Fuze, but pretty much on everything that's text when I look at stuff in landscape mode.
When I try to enter text, the input box shows the cursor moving, but no characters show up. If I then close the keyboard, everything I typed is there in portrait mode. And I also see the jumble of text sometimes where there is a single "smudge" and the letters look like they're on top of each other.
This is VERY annoying, and I can't figure it out. I've only owned the Fuze about a week, but it seems to me it worked fine when I got it. It's as if I have installed some software (or perhaps it's one of the customization tools - I've run both Diamond Tweak and Diamond TF3D Config) that wiped out the fonts required for landscape mode.
The other thing is, it doesn't happen ALL the time, only about 80%. The rest of the time it works as it should.
Any help or ideas would be most welcome. If I can't see text entry in landscape mode, the flip out keyboard becomes useless, and I may as well have bought the thinner Touch Diamond.
I had this problem when I enabled ClearType in landscape mode...try to look at it if you have it enabled..and if so, disable it...
Thanks, that seems to have worked.
Is there a separate setting for landscape mode somewhere, or just the master ClearType on-off in Settings...Screen?
it's in Advanced Config or Diamont Tweak ..not sure, but one of it has that option
Tried that, and also modifying the registry directly, and neither worked. If the "main" ClearType setting is on in Settings...Screen, text in landscape mode is illegible no matter what else I do. The system seems to ignore the registry setting for turning it off in landscape mode.
While turning ClearType off does work, it's annoying to have to do it because the text in portrait mode looks so much better with it on. Oh well. I guess it's a bug in WinMobile 6.1.
In any case thanks for the quick response. I did a search in the forums here, and this is apparently a well know bug with no available workaround for the moment.
hmm, mine is working correctly...when I open Screen options in landscape, ClearType is Off and cannot be set to On...and in Portrait mode, it can be turned Off
DiamondTweak > 17.7 try that...if it doesn't work..hmm...flash ROMeOS or other ROM

On mine, screen options in landscape mode has cleartype set to "on" and cannot be turned off. It's grayed out. It follows the setting in portrait mode - if I turn it off there, it's off in landscape, if I turn it on there, it's on in landscape.
Tried DiamondTweak, made no difference.
ADDENDUM: Well, SOMETHING made a difference, because once I reset the thing, it now acts as you describe - I have ClearType on in portrait, and off in landscape. Woohoo!
Thanks much!
Is there a way to do this? I find for scrolling through text to be very slow, but scrolling through menus or selection I am fine with.
I second that.
Fully agree man.. too slow yo be useful
I, too, would like to figure this out. I switched from my Blackberry and the only thing I miss is the fact that the BB had a much better sensitivity level with the scrolling ball. I could whiz the cursor around text like a madman, but with the Magic, it's like pulling teeth.
Edit: Sorry, item #2 that I miss is the amazing battery life with the BB...but that's a whole other enchilada.
I would bet top dollar...yen...rupi...you get the idea, that this will be changed in the final version of the donut update as with typing it is way too slow but web browsing and other functions it's fine. I also noticed that apps seem to have indivudual control over the sensitivity of the trackball so all that's really needed for a change is the keyboard apps like HTC_IME or the Android stock keyboard and problem solved!
Keeping my fingers crossed!
