ipaq voice messenger sound quality - Non-Touchscreen Windows Mobile Other

Hello, hope someone can help me out; I have a new ipaq voice messenger, all working fine, except the quality when making a call; when I am using the phone the sound is horrible and it is hard to hear to other person on the line. Does one of you have any idea's what to do to improve?

try changing band control settings to gms:
go to Settings , Phone , Band Control, GSM.
If you use only gsm band the voice quality will increase significantly and you will save battery power as well. Turn un UMTS only when really need it, for example for fast internet connection.
Let me know if it resolves your problem

Hi, thanks! I tried with setting it to GSM only; but do not have the feeling that it improved the sounds quality a lot; I will keep it like this to see if it has improved and to see if the battery life improves. Thanks a lot. If you have any other ideas; please let me know.

have you tried this patch from HP ?
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsuppor...wEnvOID=4036&swLang=9&taskId=135&mode=4&idx=0

Hi, yes I have installed all the patches from the HP website. Using it with a headset or with my carkit it is ok, but with the phone itself I have to reduce the volume to very soft in order to get a 'normal' quality, but with this, it is hard to hear to other person. Thanks for you suggestion; I read also on the HP forum that there are more people with the same problem. Hope there is a solution!

so far so good
Working good the update?
No problems at al?
one thing i noticed of the bat was MS active sync program is slow.... i guess they have to fix it up, when its doing the sync its taking a lot longer, and if it doesnt work with outlook, i found the fix and this was for wm5 and wm6 is that in outlook if you download all your mail and then hit the sync button, in outlook it will then work with active sync, its a known issue i think with some older outlook ver :/
but ya right now with wm6 it lags a bit in the connection activation, i think as far as the speed its the same speed as before, its just annoying, i might try the active sync beta that is out
the os seems more responsive, i have yet to test the gps and wifi or IE
I can get working GPS
SiRFDemoPPC.zip dl that from the manu run it until u get signal if not, in settup switch to binary mode and do a col reset or reset manu settings then switch back to nmea, it can take a while, play around with it, i know that if i can get a lock with that program then i can get lock with others after i exit this one
oh the device on i300 is GSW3
Hi, just a few questions.....is the I300 as a phone any good?....is the call quality on both ends clear etc?.....and also the back speaker, is it loud?.....i am looking at getting this phone but i would like to know the above first if anyone can answer these questions for me......also does anyone know the correct gps settings to get tomtom 6 to work?.......thanks in advance!!!
Cheers
irv777
as far as quality i think its same as any other phone quality... no diff from my other phone, (moto v300) the speaker is a loud speaker ya you can play games or mp3s etc... and its loud enough IMO, but there is only so much volume and quality of something of that size, regardless of phone IMO unless a phone has stereo, but this and most phones is mono 1 speaker, the headset is stereo and BT can be stereo too
Thanks for the reply, what about tomtom 6?.....does it work with this phone and what are the ps settings to get a proper fix?.......thanks again in advance.
i havent tried tomtom6 but some ppl have i believe on this device, IMO should work just fine
http://www.gsmarena.com/gigabyte_g_smart_i300-1817.php
yeah i was just reading some reviews on it from the gsmarena website.....how are you finding the battery life though?......is battery life better with WM6 or WM5, any differences?....thanks
well i really want the 1300mah battery, but i havent been able to see one, maybe they will release one later, or some other third party will
wm6 i think might give better battery life but mostly on idle or low activity, if you run anything intensive then i dont think there is anything that will save your battery hehe the charging seems faster or it could be just me
and for the rest i think you have to get some nice tweaking util to really optimize any PPC, i for one havent bothered much... everything is installed on my miniSD card
i think since its a free upgrade its quite worth it, all the small changes to all the apps is big
i cant really say a whole lot for wm5 vs wm6 becaues i havent been using either one long enough, some other vets could have a diff opinion im sure
i think its sad that any PPC if you use anything like Wifi, GPS or if you had a TV it kills the battery life very quick... same for if you try to run something that takes up all the resources (cpu) it does about the same... i was playing the sega emu and it did drain battery life but not as bad as wifi, gps does, mp3 playback takes even less cpu, as far as movies i dont know but i think it would be a little more then mp3 depending what its encoded i think
but for movies i can use my cowon D2 PMP
btw my i300 came with 2x 900mah batteries i dont know about others but most ppl said so, those that they got from ebay
could anyone export the i300WM6 registry and post it here, please?
GPS icon in settings > connections
I have enabled GPS icon in settings > connections. Programs now can not use built in GPS. Could you please post the registry keys and values in the following location:
HKLM\Control Panel\Gps Settings\
Thanks.
How do I get the voicemail indicator to work on my Gigabyte i300? I am using ATT and it doesn't ever tell me about new voicemails nor waiting voicemails.

Sorry balikci, just saw your post today.
I did not upgrade my i300 (so, English WM5 firmware so far).
There is not such an entry (HKLM\Control panel\GPS Settings\) in my registry file!
GPS is not working with Wm6 firmware version?
GPS works perfectly fine in wm6, also the think outside ultra slim BT keyboard does work with this device you need 4.52 driver i think and disable the standard devices hid driver or so... its a check box when you run it for the first time, and then it works just right
I300 seems to have over exposure issue with the camera in wm5 and wm6, in very bright sunny area, after the first picture all pics are over exposed, if you close the app and start the first picture works perfectly but others that fallow do not... it must be a driver/software issue
could somebody help me with taking device into bootloader mode? i want to upgrade to WM6
in it's official website , it says you need to push Send End and power key , while the device is off.
first , what is send and end keys? green and red ones?
second , which one is power key? the suspend key or the soft reset hole key?
third , what does it mean by turning device off ? suspend it or turn it off completely , if so how?
and , is this ROM
http://www.gigabytecm.com/Eng/gbc_supportdetail.aspx?sid=26
WWE , i heard there are certain parts non english , which is okey , but if you know of any full WWE link , please let me know
cheers
king_dani, Send (green) is what you use to aswer a call, End (red) is what you press to end a call. Power key's the suspend key. Turning device off means turning it off compleatly, just hold the power key to turn the device off. The rom you gave the link to is WWE.

thnx alot man , so at least i know i'm pushing the right keys. well i tried these combination , in completely shut down device , still, it turns on and won't go into bootloader mode , for some yet unknown reason. plus , do you know if i should empty the whole card ? or can i use a partially loaded miniSD card? i mean , would it work if there are other files on it , and also , should they files be on root folder?
cheers
try another combination: turn the device on, hold Send and End keys, do a soft reset (don't release send and end buttons!), wait for Image Utility. All files from a downloaded archive should be placed in a root folder (/Storage card). It's Ok if there're files on a card.

D810 + Motorola S705 bad handsfree quality.

Hello guys!!
Currently I'm using a WM6 D810 with Jetware installed so that the S705 can display the contact name instead of just the number.
I often see register setting which we can change to improve the A2DP, I have no issues with the A2DP. However, my handsfree seems to be quite bad. On my end, everything seems clear. However the person on the other side always complain that he can't heard me properly. I tried calling myself and it's true, my voice tends to break, only part of what I say can be heard.
I tried disabling the Jetware functions however the problem seems to be still there. I checked my registery, seems that the BT is using some of the Jetware's dll not sure if that's the cause of the problem. However the problem comes and goes, it's not everytime that the other side have problems hearing me. Strange....any guys have a similar experience and managed to solve the problem?? Thanks in advance for reading!!
hi,
have the same prob with hermes and s705 you already have an satifatory answer?

Skype (or other voip soft): very bad sound quality

Hello all!
Did you try skype on touch cruise?
I have a very bad sound quality.
I tried fring (see http://www.fring.com/), and it's the same problem.
And you?
THX!
Hi,
I use Skype, from time to time, on my Cruise and it sounds very good (of course trough headset). Not just for me, for my interlocutor too.
@+
What version ?
Make sure your Wi-Fi or 3G connection signal is strong enough.
THX for replies
I use Skype 2.2.0.37. (the last I think)
Very bad sound quality because the sound is cutted. Specially for my interlocutor, he doesn't ear me sometimes.
I can verify when I make test call, I ear the voice but my voice is very cutted. Almost no sound...
Jules Winnfield, what is your version please?
THX
edit: I use only wifi, and the signal is ok, I'm at home...
My version is 2.2.0.37 too.
I've tried 2 or 3 time and everything was OK.
I have very good Wifi signal (at home) and Adsl 5 Mb.
@+
Make sure there aren't too much other applications taking up RAM, as it may be for swapping reasons that your device clutters voice input.
I also have a bad sound qualitiy. 2.2.0.37 Skype Version and tried it over WLAN an USB/ActiveSync.
It's getting worse if I tip on the screen...
Will keep on testing
For me it's better now: uncheck "sound echo correction".
The sound is not perfect (as on my computer...) but it's possible to make a little conversation
If i have this setting checked, my microphone seems to be muted. Means i just can hear my opponent, but can't talk with him...
But the quality seems the same bad one.
I've called a friend in Russia and sound was very good for him.
For me, it could be better if it was louder.
But, this problem is not just with Skype. It's a French Rom particularity: sound level trough headset is too low
@+
I've changed the rom and the radio on my Polaris.
The sound is worse! not possible to understanding something...
No idee? Please, I go to China and Japan during 3 weeks in april, help me!!!
THX!
I'm just about to download and use skype on my TC, I already use skype in my PC but have a doubt about fring, could you tell me the differences between fring and skype?
Thanks
I have a clear connection using HSPDA when calling my brother in France from the US without a headset. I haven't tested over wifi yet. I am using the original oem WWE ROM with original radio and the current version of Skype available on the site with default options.
What ROM are those with issues using? What speeds do you get over your connection with a speed test?

Fring is a "facilitator" to use Skype and other providers. They claim to make the data more "portable" even on Edge connection

You can run speed tests from your mobile browser (Pocket IE or Opera). Try http://www.dslreports.com/mspeed or you may want to get a speed test located closer to you for more accurate results either use google or try one of these http://www.dslreports.com/speedtest?more=1. Note, the more "high tech" flash based tests won't work our our mobile browsers.
EDIT: I also notice that you are using the "Test" radio ROM, have you tried Skype with the original Radio ROM?

THX sonus, for your reply.
It was better with original radio I think... And I didn't know it's a "test" radio rom! Can I back to old radio? (1.58.25.13) ? I will test!
Edit: I've just change the radio, hard reset,etc...
Same bad result with skype. And I see I have not good result with Internet explorer... Maybe a pb with the bepe rom and wifi? (no pb with original rom...)

I use 3g VideoCall from Telme,it works fine on my TC except for the video right now (they say they will release a new version in march or april).
You can download it (from the download section) and use it for free (or with an account just like skype)after registering for free as a Free Member from here : http://web2.telme.sg/cedel/index.php?option=mod_joinus
With "Route 60" activated (as a distributor) u can even call for free to 60 countries on fixed phones (from which 6 countries on fixed AND MOBILES for free)
I call then free from mi 3gphone to fixed phones, to 3gphones and also even to computers having the correspondent software from Telme installed (Deskcall NG)
I tried fring with voipstunt and voipbuster, I could not find my Voip contactlist and was not convinced so I uninstalled it.
i installed skype a couple of days ago and when trying the test service my sound was realy bad if it was sound at all. but when i called a real call the sound was good when i used the handsfree and when i had it against my ear. but was echo when i had it infront of me. so try a real contact and not the test conntact that follows skype.

Adjust sensitivity of mic

I work on a trading floor which is admittedly fairly noisy, but my wife says the HTC Fuze is picking up a huge amount of the background noise, to the point where I sound like I'm competing with it. I never had this from my iPhone, so think it must be something on the phone. I'm running RomEOS 1.4.
Is there any way to adjust the sensitivity of the built in mic?
Under settings/system there is "microphone AGC" which allows you to disable the auto gain on the mike. That should help.
STraver, sir, my wife and I thank you!
Interesting...I always thought that setting was only for recording...
Thanks though
i am having the same problem with mine. it never used to do it until recently. and i believe "microphone agc" is used for your voice command/recording NOT the microphone level of in a call. either way it does nothing for me.
It's possible that my wife was mistaken when she said it seemed better then. I'll leave it 'off' for now and continue to watch.
I too have the same problem! I'm about to return this phone, every business client complains about every noise. They can hear me pick up a pencil! I looked @ AGC and it was already disabled. Any programs or registry settings I can use?
Please
Try changing your radio to one of the Blackstone Radio's. PM me for specific ones. Just remember you NEED TO BE SECURITY UNLOCKED!! THIS IS DIFFERENT THAN HARDSPL......CLICK HERE FOR SERCURITY UNLOCK

One issue

Hi all.
I installed couple of different ROMs on my VOX but after a while they stopped working (on call phone freezes and stuffs like that) so I returned to the old good Gonzo's 6.1 v1.1
Everything works great as it always have been with this ROM, but I have one small, rather boring issue: most of the time my phone is close to my computer speakers. With this ROM pretty much often my speakers start buzzing (cannot explain better the problem, but I think you all know what sound the speakers make during a call) although there is no call.
This is very boring. Can someone tell me why this is happening and how to stop it?
Thanks.
It is your phone making a connection to it's provider. It also makes that sound when your vox is trying to sync it's mail, or something else over its GPRS signal.
This problem occours with small speakers.
Only thing you can do about it is turn off your speakers or the connections on your Vox.
Grtz. FeareX
I don't think that is the issue since the signal bars are full all of the time, I don't see it trying to make connection to my provider. Also GPRS and WAP are disabled in NoData.
This is only happening with this specific ROM and I like it alot because it works perfect on my Vox.
I hope someone can help.
Thanks.
It happens for me too, but only when I turn on my phone, I think it's something like SIM-Card connecting to my provider or something, I dont know alot about this though
Seems like some good ol' Electromagnetic Interference to me... The high freq phone signals somehow get into the speakers, creating the noise... I suggest u keep ur phone approx 1-2ft away frm the speakers.
But I didn't have this issue with any other ROM. Also I noticed that now the phone looses connection pretty much often
