I work on a trading floor which is admittedly fairly noisy, but my wife says the HTC Fuze is picking up a huge amount of the background noise, to the point where I sound like I'm competing with it. I never had this from my iPhone, so think it must be something on the phone. I'm running RomEOS 1.4.
Is there any way to adjust the sensitivity of the built in mic?
Under settings/system there is "microphone AGC" which allows you to disable the auto gain on the mike. That should help.
STraver, sir, my wife and I thank you!
Interesting...I always thought that setting was only for recording...
Thanks though
i am having the same problem with mine. it never used to do it until recently. and i believe "microphone agc" is used for your voice command/recording NOT the microphone level of in a call. either way it does nothing for me.
It's possible that my wife was mistaken when she said it seemed better then. I'll leave it 'off' for now and continue to watch.
I too have the same problem! I'm about to return this phone, every business client complains about every noise. They can hear me pick up a pencil! I looked @ AGC and it was already disabled. Any programs or registry settings I can use?

Hello guys!!
Currently I'm using a WM6 D810 with Jetware installed so that the S705 can display the contact name instead of just the number.
I often see register setting which we can change to improve the A2DP, I have no issues with the A2DP. However, my handsfree seems to be quite bad. On my end, everything seems clear. However the person on the other side always complain that he can't heard me properly. I tried calling myself and it's true, my voice tends to break, only part of what I say can be heard.
I tried disabling the Jetware functions however the problem seems to be still there. I checked my registery, seems that the BT is using some of the Jetware's dll not sure if that's the cause of the problem. However the problem comes and goes, it's not everytime that the other side have problems hearing me. Strange....any guys have a similar experience and managed to solve the problem?? Thanks in advance for reading!!
hi,
have the same prob with hermes and s705 you already have an satifatory answer?

I get complains almost daily that the background noise is overpowering when I'm on the phone. I basically can't be on the phone anywhere where there is any activity or it sounds so loud people ask me to call them back. I've tried a couple of different AudioPara3s but none have corrected my issue. I'm currently using RRE but had the same problem with RomeOS. Does anyone happen to know what I can do about this? If it is a setting I can change in AudioPara3, does anyone know which field(s) I should mess with?
Thanks.

Have you got "Microphone AGC" turned on? That's a technology that automatically screws up the volume of your voice when talking softly. It's nice when inside, but outside it also boosts background noise, like wind and traffic. Try turning it off, when in loud environments.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the tip. I checked Microphone AGC but it was off. I'm wondering if I just have a bad phone, since the problem is so bad I'm sure there would be a lot of other people complaining if it were common.
Bump in case someone knows something I can try with AudioPara3
Hi there,
I have the exact same problem...
It doesn't matter if i am inside or outside, the person in the other end hear backround noise over my voice... It is absolutely impossible to talk...
One person i talk to alot says my voice sounds almost distorted, like some gain or amplification is to high.
I would really like to know if someone has a solution to this issue?!
AGC is turned off..
Best regards
Andreas
Same issues here. Using the same phone, I have the problem when I'm running the Energy 6.5 Rom's, but not with the Energy 6.1 Rom's. Been searching and I'm stumped.
I did notice that the proram TouchPro Tweak has an Audio Boost that can only be set to "Medium" or "High". The program is written into most Rom's though so deleting it won't help.
Any thoughts?
Any help here would be very much appreciated, I've found nothing after many more hours of searching.
Are you guys sure you are using the correct rlphone.dll to match your radio?
It could be screwing with your "radio" functioning.
Yep, I did reflash my raido and reinstall my rilphone cab to make certain. The reply is still much appreciated!
Okay, I've had a bit of success.
- Microphone AGC - Enabled
- Used Total Commander and went to -> \plugins\registry\HKCU\Software\HTC\SOFTAGCData
- Max Level Gain : Changed Decimal Value from 10 -> 1
Background noise gone, but my voice is still very muffled.
If it wouldn't be too much of a bother, would someone running a 6.1 Rom be able to post up their values from all the registries under "SOFTAGCData"?
I would be very thankful.
*** SOLVED ***
Flashed back to a stock AT&T Rom and extracted all of the Audio files that may of been the cause.
Reflashed one of the Rom's that was giving me the issue, called the wife, problem still existed.
Dropped the AT&T Rom files in, placed a call, and Viola! Problem Solved!
Just extract these into the Windows dir (At your own risk, but they're just AT&T Stock files) -> Clicky
I use the HTC adapter with my ATT Fuze to listen to music in my car. When I unplug the adapter to get out of the car, my speakerphone no longer works. If I get a call, it will vibrate but not ring. If I adjust the volume, I don't hear the indication beeps. However, if I make or receive a call, I can hear them through the regular speaker, and they can hear me.
I've tried adjusting the volume everywhere possible, adjusting the audio profile, changing the ringtone, etc, but the only way to fix it is to soft reset. Needless to say, it is very inconvenient to have to reset my phone each time I get out of my car.
I did search the forums but couldn't find any solution. Unlike these people:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=526930&highlight=sound+headphones+aux
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=508225&highlight=sound+headphones+aux
my phone does not show the headphone icon indicating that it still thinks the headphones are plugged in. It also will not allow me to use the TouchFlo Audio Booster, further evidencing the fact that it knows the headphones aren't plugged in.
I had to replace my phone for a different reason, so I have verified this problem on two separate physical units. On both I tried cleaning out the USB jack and wiggling the connection around as suggested elsewhere on the forum, but neither solved the problem. In the process of getting my old phone ready to send back to ATT I restored my stock SPL and ROM and verified that the problem still existed. Other than the stock stuff, I have experienced this issue on EnergyROM 2.0 41609 and 41709, EnergyROM 3.0 'Magic' 20090709, and EnergyROM 3.0 'Mercury' 20090722.
As suggested here:

I thought my Bluetooth stack may be causing the issue, so I flashed a new radio as well. I was originally using 1.14.25.35, and am now on 1.14.25.05, which NRGZ28 says is the best for his Mercury ROM. Still didn't fix it. I'm at a loss for what to do, and wonder if anybody else has come across a solution, or has any idea what the problem could be.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

im having same problem dude. Have you tried going to your audio recorder and recording yourself and then making a call. That helped get mine back the way its suppossed to be.
That worked. Very interesting... Does anybody have any idea why this might be the case? Is there a registry value somewhere that needs to be reset after I use the adapter?
NRG has a couple of little apps he includes with his ROMs, namely "Finger Menus OFF/ON" and "Notification Manager OFF/ON" that I assume just wrap up a registry value switch. Would it be possible to code the registry values I need into an app like this, so I can click a button and have my sound working again after I use the adapter? Any senior members willing to do this for me or guide me through the process?
And thanks for the tip Mr. Ewok.

The voice recorder trick doesn't work for me anymore for some reason. Anybody else have any suggestions?
Thanks,

hey,
I had exactly the same problem with my Fuze. I've never flashed anything but the stock rom. I sent it to PPC techs because I had them repair another problem. They told me it didn't have anything to do with the speaker or cables, but they "heated up the board" and it started working. I'm wondering if there's a manufacturing flaw (like a cold solder) involved.
BTW PPC techs didn't charge me anything but shipping to repair it (as it was under their warranty, even though it wasn't their fault). Nice guys!
This has been an ongoing problem with my last two phones. First was an HTC Touch Pro, now an HTC Touch Pro2. It doesn't matter if I am on a stock or custom ROM or whatever.
I noticed that when I called people, especially when the headphone jack was plugged in (using the auxiliary port in my car speakers) that people would be unable to hear me for a good 5 to 30 seconds. I could hear them but they couldn't hear me. Eventually they'd be able to hear me.
I kept killing processes one by one until I narrowed it down. It was Microsoft Voice Command! I was really surprised because I use the program only for announcing who is calling me (very nice feature so I don't have to run to the phone if it's someone I don't care about). I don't use it for dialing or anything of the like.
I have Googled for hours and a few people have the same problem but the only fix appears to be "don't use Voice Command" which sucks. I guess what I'm asking is if either a) there's a way to fix MSVC so this doesn't happen or b) there's a program that announces who is calling you that I can use instead of MSVC.
MSVC was annoying anyway because when you click "mute ring" when someone is calling you it still repeats the name! Pretty stupid. So I guess I'd just like some sort of replacement program for announcing incoming calls. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Have you tried fixing this issue using this?

Thanks but that program did little more than allow me to change the volumes and speeds.
I have the same issue with my Blackstone. When I check the running process I find that Voice Command takes almost 100 pct and James everything else.
I also Need it to announce who is calling.
Yeah I'm essentially giving up on MSVC ever working correctly, so if anyone know of a program that just announces who is calling, that would work just great.

I am on 6.5 and your CAB is actually older than what I have cooked into the ROM... :\
MVC1.6 - no please! i am looking for a Voice activated app...
What good is that MVC1.6 if you have to Press a button and then say command? its called crap. Such a Program is already inbuilt in my WM6.
I am looking for a Voice program that keeps running in the background and its always in the listening mode and I can simply "SAY" these commands "as well".
1) WakeUp - wakes up my PPC
2) Sleep - PPC goes to Sleep mode (PPC is On though)
3) Programmed to wake me up at a particular time (by a beautiful Virtual Girl)
4) and Features of MVC1.6
is there anything like that for PPC WM6 ? CE5.2 version?

Four days ago I entered the beautiful world of Android with a ZTE Blade. I've tried quite a bit of programs, for voip in particular and the best one for integration, elegance, quality of voice and settings is 3CX phone. Unfortunately, the sound comes only from the back speakerphone instead of the earphone, and whatever I try on settings, well, that does not work. It is annoying cause it forces me to use an headset all the time. Any suggestion here?
Thanks
