Hi all.
What is the best radio that makes the battery last longer.
I'm using stock radio and I feel like my battery drains a litle to fast.
I used 4.47.25.01 till flashed dutty's Leo R4 and battery life was much better.
In my opinion and according to the Radio thread, the one you can see in my signature is far the best radio...anyway you won't notice any extraordinary battery performance, none of the radios does.

I agree that except one point. I feel like the wifi reception is a bit weak. In my room, the adsl modem is in 3 meters distance to me and the TD2 wifi shows only the signal strength in one level. Can anyone confirm that?

Anyone else notice that the battery life on the Treo is a whole lot worse when using WM6?
I am getting about 2 hours less after upgrading
Just wanted to see if I was the only one.
Thanks
I had the leaked att rom on my phone....and my battery life was the worst...lasted maybe 2 hours or so...
I just downloaded the generic rom to see if i would have a change....
so far i have had it for a full day of moderate use and my battery is still going strong....im left to assume that the rom change made the difference....
Can anyone else confirm that WM6 battery life is improved with the ROW ROM?
I can't say I "confirm", because I have not tried the generic ROM yet, but since installing the AT&T ROM, I have noticed a signifigant decrease in my battery life. I thought it might be chocked up to my heavy use of BT and the fact that I am running XCPUScaler to clock it in at 500MHz, but even with no BT use and disabling XCPU, I still see a 2 to 3 hour difference.
If you live in a 3g area and you are set to "auto" then yes your battery life will be shorter since those 3g bands require more "energy". I have learned to disable 3g for most internet use and only use 3g when I need it. Is this favorable; no, I'd rather not have to think about it. But until the battery technology and the processor/os interaction improve to be more energy efficient as is being seen with full-scale PCs, then we must find compromise. You can always buy a larger battery or carry more than one, but I'm happy with the software fix for now.
I created a shortcut to the band settings and assigned it to the PPT button for quick access to this setting to minimize the number of clicks.
Code:
how to:
1. Create a text file and input:
[INDENT]22#ctlpnl PLMOCPL.cpl,0,1?\Windows\cplmain.cpl,-7140[/INDENT]
2. Save the file as "[whatever name].lnk" and place it somewhere convenient on the device.
Hope this helps
Cheers

I agree with this, but there should not have been a noticable difference between 3G on WM5 versus 3G on WM6 - but several people have seen a significant (>20%) loss in battery life just from upgrading the OS using the leaked ROM (same hardware, same HSDPA support). I am one of those people.
Well, I tried the 'unofficial AT&T Rom' same thing. Battery life about 20% less.
But I can't even get through a day without having to charge up my phone. Pretty annoying
Mine's actually better since upgrading to the AT&T rom.
I live in an area where I am on the fringe of 3G availability, so my phone on WM5 was always eating up battery searching between GSM and 3G networks. I actually had to hard set the phone to GSM like tmknight to get through the day.
Since the update, I seem to be staying locked on 3G now, and battery life is a little better than where it was when on GSM with WM5. Would still like a standard size battery with longer life though ...
well i finally got the generic rom to work, after realizing that i had to keep the data cable plugged in...BONK...in any case i would have to concurr with the last post, my 3g is locked in and battery life is a tad bit better, not much to do a cart-wheel over, but...noticeable...

Ur right, I have an atom exec and the Wm6 made it to run for 5-6 hours only, that too without any phone calls and only GPRS usage. When I reflashed the WM5 back it is running normally. Something is WRONG with this new WM6
hey guys Ive tried .10 and it seemed to suck the battery down from a full charge in the morning by that night it would be dead and i don't talk on it a whole lot any, suggestions?

did u try turn off the 3G (if u not using it)?
In the chicagoland area i'm using 11.31 and I see a difference in battery life due to the fact that is stays 3G more consistently than before...

Based on your comment about 3G, I am assuming you mean the battery life is shorter. Am I right?
I'm in Florida and use 11.31 and use hsdpa and 3g all day. By the end of the day my battery is at 65%. Now if I use GPS it can suck the battery down real quick.
In my opinion so far 1.27.12.17 is best for battery saving with good 3G reception, but 1.27.12.32 is best for 3G and in weak signal areas.
It's indicated by several posts in the big Dutty V2/V3-thread that some experience heavy/extreme battery drain, regardless of radio-ROM used, so which radio you use might not be the only explanation to this. It doesn't necessarily have to do with installed software and/or push-mail etc either.
In my case I have tested .12.10, .11, .17 and .32 as well as .11.31 as well as reflashes, hardresets and whatnot and no luck with any of them. I experience significally worse battery life than just a few ROMs ago. This is 2G/EDGE-mode. 3G I don't even want to talk about
/Mac
thanks for the info
after reading what has been said i believe it may jsust be the rom. Dont get me wrong i love it but i have tried the .17 and the .10 and haven't noticed much of a change. Thanks for everybodys input
THAT'S IS THE QUESTION, WHICH? 3.08.90, 3.12.90, 3.18.90 or 3.21.90.
I'm using now the 3.08.90, but my cell phone apresent serious problems with the battery, and I need a good radio, could you should me one?
I like 3.18.90 a lot. It has pretty good reception with great battery life. The latest for the Herald is still 3.21.90. It might improve your reception more but at the expense of the battery. It's not as bad as everyone says but I do notice it compared to 3.18.90.
Well I would suggest using the 3.21.90 because I have seen improved signal and call quality with it, but none of them are going to magically give you a huge change to your battery life.
Most of the time the better battery life you get from a radio update is because your phone does not have to work as hard finding a signal. Battery is effected more from the settings on your phone and the programs you have running.
Bottom line give a radio a try it is small and fast to update on your phone so if you try one and it seems to have made things worse try another or go back to the version you were already running, but I have had zero problems with the newest version on 2 Wings and have not read about any major issues that anyone else is having with it.
I thinking the problem is with my battery, because I'm leaving home 6:00AM (battery 100%), When I come back the battery is 50% 01:00PM, This is strange.
If you flashed a custom rom, it could be a bad flash. Just reflash it and look if the battery is fixed.
There is already a radio thread where we all post our radios and discuss our radios.
As far as the radio making a difference, it's different for each phone. It doesn't hit all phones the same, so it's kind of like asking "which ROM is best?" Try all of them and see which one you like best. ^_^
Which Rom it's better for a better battery life?

The lightest one you can find if you don't install any programs that run in the background, probably. JustStable V2 Micro, for example.
I wish I had the power to move threads...
Hey guys :silly:
My girlfriend have this phone with kickdroid 4.0.0 and the battery last... nothing... :crying:
What can i do? (see the attach).
7 hours and low use, the phone has near 9 months of use.
Any rom to improve that (sense, aosp maybe 4.4?)
I know this device dont have good battery life but i think this is awful.
Thanks :good:
Have you used an app like GSAM or BetterBatteryStats to analyse what's draining your battery so much? The built in battery section doesn't provide enough information. Those apps also provide information on wakelocks if you're having those.
Asking which ROM is best/most stable/best battery/fastest isn't allowed on here so we can't answer that part. Each user will have different battery life depending on their own usage anyway so it's a pretty pointless question.
Are you using LTE a lot? That drains the battery heaps. Other than that you should do the usual stuff like lower the screen brightness, turn off data when not in use, Greenify apps etc.

I dont have the phone in hands, but yes she have betterbat for the same reason , but for today no way to see that.
In my country LTE no exist, only 3G, so she is using 3G (all time), no wifi. Bright is on auto and apps like facebook, etc are greenified.
When i have the betterbat info i post.
Thanks for the answer.:good:
Turn off auto-brightness, that's a killer. Turn off data unless in use.

Battery life will vary for everyone. The biggest variable is reception in your area. I get around 48 hours on a single charge with low usage. WiFi at home, LTE at work, Bluetooth always on. Screen brightness is 40%. Stock T-Mobile Sense 5 ROM.
Reception... well she lives in a rural area near beach maybe bad luck lots of little mountains i notice that low reception in that place.
trying lowest brightness too

What radio is on the device currently?
How was battery life before Kickdroid? And what radio was she on then?
The radio is 1.31a.32.45.16_2
Kickdroid improves a lot the battery, but i think the phone can stay 12h+ hehe :fingers-crossed:

In your area, maybe not. As I mentioned, everyone will have a vastly different experience in regards to battery life. Largely dependent on reception in your area and how she uses the phone. Some will have trouble just getting through the day (charging at night), while others (like myself) will get 1-2 days no problem.
Could someone with the new 1.20 radio please confirm that it really gives a better wifi signal? I've read this in the development section.
Thanks.
There is no "recipe" or radio that is universally better. It's a "try and see" thing. For some is better for some is worse, it's depending on so many factors that is almost impossible to say. For me for example, it was worse in all aspects...wifi, cell reception, battery life. That doesn't mean it's a bad radio, it means only that is bad for me. So I use 1.15. Flash it and see how it goes for you, it is easy to flash another one
Sent from nowhere over the air...
Flased it and I haven't noticed anything different, up to now. Same wifi and 3g signal as before.
One thing I noticed: with the 1.15 radio the switching between 2g and 3g was fast (about ten seconds) but it used to slow down considerably after a couple of days without rebooting the phone. Now with the 1.20 radio it doesn't slow down. :good:
