THAT'S IS THE QUESTION, WHICH? 3.08.90, 3.12.90, 3.18.90 or 3.21.90.
I'm using now the 3.08.90, but my cell phone apresent serious problems with the battery, and I need a good radio, could you should me one?
I like 3.18.90 a lot. It has pretty good reception with great battery life. The latest for the Herald is still 3.21.90. It might improve your reception more but at the expense of the battery. It's not as bad as everyone says but I do notice it compared to 3.18.90.
Well I would suggest using the 3.21.90 because I have seen improved signal and call quality with it, but none of them are going to magically give you a huge change to your battery life.
Most of the time the better battery life you get from a radio update is because your phone does not have to work as hard finding a signal. Battery is effected more from the settings on your phone and the programs you have running.
Bottom line give a radio a try it is small and fast to update on your phone so if you try one and it seems to have made things worse try another or go back to the version you were already running, but I have had zero problems with the newest version on 2 Wings and have not read about any major issues that anyone else is having with it.
I thinking the problem is with my battery, because I'm leaving home 6:00AM (battery 100%), When I come back the battery is 50% 01:00PM, This is strange.
If you flashed a custom rom, it could be a bad flash. Just reflash it and look if the battery is fixed.
There is already a radio thread where we all post our radios and discuss our radios.
As far as the radio making a difference, it's different for each phone. It doesn't hit all phones the same, so it's kind of like asking "which ROM is best?" Try all of them and see which one you like best. ^_^

The lightest one you can find if you don't install any programs that run in the background, probably. JustStable V2 Micro, for example.
I wish I had the power to move threads...

I'm currently running the XM6r3 ROM, and my battery life is less than half of what it was with WM5. Anyone else notice this? I'm thinking it might be related to the weather panel app.
First, did you flash an official rom before you upgraded to XM6r3? If you have a corrupted Extended ROM, this has been shown to cause battery life that goes down very quickly.
Second, Yes, other apps you put on that are constantly accessing the network and such can cause battery life to go down faster. Did you have WeatherPanel on WM5? DO you do Push email (and how often is it setup to check / push)? Are you running BatteryStatus and overclocking? That definetly pulls more on the battery.
What Radio are you using on your phone? Newer radios (2.47, 2.61, and 2.69) all pull more on the battery (IMO) than the stock 2.25 radios from T-Mobile and Cingular. I think 2.19 is probably the most efficient (but also doesn't have as good of reception for some, but seems to work well for me).
When I first started messing with custom roms here, first AKU 3.3 (so WM5) and then WM6 roms, I would gripe about less battery life. Then it hit me, I'm using my phone WAY more than I was when I was on stock WM5 as it was so unreliable for me on the official roms, and now the phone does so much more. I do WAY more with my phone now with these custom roms. So yeah, battery life is going to go down faster as the phone is now being used all the time.
Also, I do think most of the custom WM6 roms do use more battery, but look at how much more they are doing by default.
If you really want to do a comparison, then build a WM6 rom that looks just like an official WM5 and don't use the phone anymore than you did with WM5 (same apps, etc). I think you will find the battery life is much closer in that case (but you won't be happy since its not overclocked, missing great apps you are now used to, etc)...
I'm experiencing the same issues...with only 2 or 3 days of the iphone theme, with Slide2Unlock and WisBar, my battery barely makes it 18 hours.
I'm going to try the suggestion of flashing it back to original and them just the latest WM6 (screw the iphone stuff).
I do take into effect that I use it more than I did before. I did not have weather panel with wm5, and I also use battery status. I only recently started overclocking it. I also use direct push with our exchange server.
I flashed it with the T-Mobile rom before upgrading. The radio is 2.25.11.
I guess it just comes with the territory I'm going to have get in the habit of charging it more often, because I like it WAY more than WM5.

Very hypothetical and analytical description of the Battery consumption problem being faced, cudn't be explained more elaborately .
Stock wm5 Roms never had any such applications as new wm6 custom Roms offer.
secondly over clocking will definitely effect the battery power.
I noticed too. Probably the file connmrg.exe is taking all the CPU power, that's why the battery's life is so worse. Batterystatus gives a constantly 100% CPU usage display...
IF you see battery status showing 100% cpu usage you have some other issue. Mine is only at 100% when I start an app or doing heavy work on it. Otherwise it idles back under 195Mhz most of the time with CPUscalar for me. Also depends on what ROM you are running and what apps you have added.
No Problem with battery
I have been using this rom since it was released and have had no problems at all with the battery life.
Is it possible to damage the battery by installing a new ROM
Is it possible to damage the battery by installing a new ROM? My 8125 battery was fine on old wm6 ROM, but after I installed XM6r3 (and yes, I did install t-mobile os before to clean it), my battery level goes through the floor.
I managed to charge it to over 50% and installed stock cingular rom, and with no extra applications installed, just the virgin cingular software, BT/wifi not enabled, just gsm radio I still see a drop of few % a minute! So basically, my phone is effectively cannot be detached from charger or my battery will drain very fast and loose ability to start os and begin charging again in the phone.
I can see (using wizard service tool) some cingular customization stuff on the hidden extended rom, does this mean extended rom is not a cause of this? Should I use format ROM tool in WST? (sorry for probably stupid questions)
Is there any way to check that it is indeed the battery being shot and not some obscure software issue? I find it hard to believe that good battery can go bad exactly at the same time as OS upgrade, I am hoping I am missing some obvious software fix
I believe its something else because my girlfriend calls me every morning and I take it out of the charger. I talk to her for a couple minutes 5 minutes tops and I hang up I look at batterystatus and it says 79% left tops. This is OD crazy I don't know if its the rom or the battery. I don't feel like paying 40 bux for a battery and same thing happens. I am currently installing a new rom I am gonna try this for acouple days and see what happens. I only noticed it for one rom but that rom I used for two to three weeks straight I didn't notice with the other roms because I never kept them for more then a day.
Strange enough (Battery life)
Strange enough before reading this post I thought that my phone's battery is dying. But know I can say that its definitely this XM6r3 ROM has some problem. To be precise there is definitely some application that eats the battery. As sometime my battery works fine and other time it just drain. If anyone can work on what application is eating the battery would be appreciated.
Rest the ROM is great.

hey guys Ive tried .10 and it seemed to suck the battery down from a full charge in the morning by that night it would be dead and i don't talk on it a whole lot any, suggestions?

did u try turn off the 3G (if u not using it)?
In the chicagoland area i'm using 11.31 and I see a difference in battery life due to the fact that is stays 3G more consistently than before...

Based on your comment about 3G, I am assuming you mean the battery life is shorter. Am I right?
I'm in Florida and use 11.31 and use hsdpa and 3g all day. By the end of the day my battery is at 65%. Now if I use GPS it can suck the battery down real quick.
In my opinion so far 1.27.12.17 is best for battery saving with good 3G reception, but 1.27.12.32 is best for 3G and in weak signal areas.
It's indicated by several posts in the big Dutty V2/V3-thread that some experience heavy/extreme battery drain, regardless of radio-ROM used, so which radio you use might not be the only explanation to this. It doesn't necessarily have to do with installed software and/or push-mail etc either.
In my case I have tested .12.10, .11, .17 and .32 as well as .11.31 as well as reflashes, hardresets and whatnot and no luck with any of them. I experience significally worse battery life than just a few ROMs ago. This is 2G/EDGE-mode. 3G I don't even want to talk about
/Mac
thanks for the info
after reading what has been said i believe it may jsust be the rom. Dont get me wrong i love it but i have tried the .17 and the .10 and haven't noticed much of a change. Thanks for everybodys input
Hi all.
What is the best radio that makes the battery last longer.
I'm using stock radio and I feel like my battery drains a litle to fast.
I used 4.47.25.01 till flashed dutty's Leo R4 and battery life was much better.
In my opinion and according to the Radio thread, the one you can see in my signature is far the best radio...anyway you won't notice any extraordinary battery performance, none of the radios does.

I agree that except one point. I feel like the wifi reception is a bit weak. In my room, the adsl modem is in 3 meters distance to me and the TD2 wifi shows only the signal strength in one level. Can anyone confirm that?
What do you guys consider the best ROM on battery life. I would prefer AOSP/De-Sensed, but anything will do. I need a rom with great battery!
Thanks,
Jordan
Hi Jordan,
I have tried a few ROM's and finally settled on InsertCoin. I have used 1.91 and 2.00 and both are stable and have a good battery life

Have a try if u like.

I've had decent results with CM7 and now 9, the latter seemingly better than the former. Also get some Anker batt's.
It's still not great, although I can last about a day and a half.
There is a similar thread like this going on.
ARHD beats any other ROM for my phone.
Every phone is different. I suggest you just try them.
CM9 for instance gives me crap battery, while for others it will give great batterylife.
Also, experiment with Kernels and CPU mods as well to bring batterylife further.
I've experienced several roms I've tried, beats by grogg , vicitorious , ordroid, insert coin, and elegenceia. I must say Elegenciea had thé very best battery life.
I turn off un needed sync, turn off vibrations feedback, turn off led notifications, turn off keyboard feedback vibration, and after flashing a new Rom, charge to 100% with the device plugged in go to recovery, wipe battery stats, unplug . All these little things make a big different in battery life. Hope I've helped some !

Ill tell you one thing every rom you'll try there is none one better then the other for battery life your fooling yourself thinking a rom has better battery life then another...
It just depends how you use your phone ...

Couple questions;
Does rooting your phone = more drain on the batte? Seems like I got better battery life when it was bone stock.
Does themeing help with draining the battery?
Sorry if these are stupid questions but it seems like I had better battery life out the box on my phone. I'm running SYnergy r60 and it's themed with Eye Candy. I have been checking the things running in the background and it's doesn't seen like anything more is running then in stock. I have WiFi turned on at and work and get pretty good service in the building. But again it still seemed better stock.

If you concerned about battery life then you should try "Clean Rom & Clean kernel". They based on stock rom and provide good performance and very good on battery life.
Different roms will have different effects on battery.
I am stock, stock recovery, bootloader still locked - but rooted.
As far as rooting alone, i'm seeing no difference in battery life.
Once you go flashing things, it's a whole new ballgame.
The problem with flashing roms/kernels is that you are continuously doing it. So every couple days you flash a new rom, or kernel, or new mod. So your phone never really has time to collaborate and settle in. Technically you're suppose to give a kernel and rom a couple days before judging battery. But we rarely do that. Plus files can get left behind from previous dirty flashes that can affect battery life. There's just a lot more ways that battery life can take a hit when flashing roms/kernels, but it can also get you significantly better battery life.

Rooting itself makes no difference. Certain services and programs that require root could drain more battery but that is obviously optional.

It could hurt or help it but only to a small degree. Black uses the least power to display and white uses the most. Overall, it isn't something to stress over too much.

Thanks for the info. I didn't think it would be a huge drain but wasn't sure.
Not sure if it's coincidence, but I reflashed r60 but didn't reflash Eye Candy and it seems the battery is doing much better.
