I been struggling between these new phone, and wondering which is the best to get. I'm leaning toward Diamond since I could get it by tomorrow, but heard many bad things with it's battery life, lack of memory card slot, and such. So can anyone tell me if I should get the Diamond or should I just give it alittle wait for something else ?
HTC Touch Diamond, HTC Touch HD, Samsung Omnia, IPhone 3G, Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1, Andoid? ......... etc.
Thanks in advance !
The diamond is a decent choice for a new phone, however if you can afford it, hold out for the Touch HD, Xperia, Or Dream/G1.
Those 3 phones will be the most killer handsets to hit the market this year.
Touch Diamond is right below them, still making a great handset. But go with a more powerful device if you can. They become outdated quickly.
The thing with the touch HD is that is is almost exactly the same spec to the touch pro including the same chipset and battery, combined with a massive screen the HD must draw more power, its basic physics and since it uses the same chipset its doubtful it will have much in the way of more power efficency so to the point the battery must be pretty poor compared to a pro.
So Yes the HD sounds great but the battery question needs to be answered first
Diamond in my opinion is a bit to small and the battery is very poor otherwise its very good
Pro is a bit more chunky than the diamond but is actually much the same size as previous generation of phones even with a keyboard its smaller than an O2 Orbit.
Iphone looks nice, and does its job well, but in my opinion its poor quality your very limited in what you can do with it and i wouldnt touch it with a barge pole due to its big brother style atitude to software, music and phone contract.
the other two i have no experiece with so cant really comment, for me im going to see how i like the Pro when O2 releases it, hopefully the question on HD battery life can be answered by then, then i can make my mind up.
As stated above, wait for the last models of 2008:
Omnia, HD, G1, Xperia
And after that you can make your choice
Diamond is not bad, but there are much better models
Depends on how much you want to spend.............
Diamonds are forever!
I know people go on about the Diamonds' battery life, but considering the power and size of this little device, I wouldn't consider it useless!
I get a good two days use out of mine... a few calls, loads of internet browsing, WiFi use, games, and music via a bluetooth headset. I really don't think that's bad. Let's face it, the only phones that last a week on one charge these days are feeble lack-lustre, brick sized devices.
Another point to remember is that because the TF3D interface is sooo much fun to play with, people are probably using their Diamonds' a whole lot more than their previous devices, therefore giving the impression that the battery life is poor.
The Touch HD does look good, but remember it's bigger and will be more power hungry! I think the Diamond is the best in it's class... best size... best specs... best TFT... I LOVE IT!!!
I was researching the HTC Touch Diamond and Touch Pro; But I have now pre-ordered the HTC Touch HD due to it's spec's & state-of-art design!

My Orbit can last up to ~8 hours using its GPS on a standard 1250 battery
HTC Touch Diamond according to HTC, will last 2 hours, even taking in to account battery sizes, the diamond isnt very power economical.
But your right, dont use the GPS and the phone isnt to bad, indeed it would probably last as long as my orbit so in that respect it does a a good job, the problem with that way of thinking is if i leave it on my desk in standby and never use it at all it will last for a week or more
but seriously its a great little PDA and if size is important than thats a winner, if high usability is, than perhaps its not the phone for you.

Thats a bold thing to do, unreviewed, unproven apart from a couple of vids an a few snaps, ignoring the bigger screen and the better camera that the HD has and the keyboard that the Pro has they are identical i believe, oh not forgetting the 3.5mm jack on the HD.
What im concerned about is the battery on the HD, running that thing may take a lot more juice an the pro wasnt great in the first place.
Thats a bold gamble, one i think i'll wait until the reviews start flying about giving ideas of its good and bad points.
Thank alot for the reply guys !
I have decided just to get the Diamond since it's a decent phone and I could get my hand on it right now. I'll pass on those new phones since they might have the same flaw or even more problems. I'll be a proud owner of Diamond in a few hours.

Cheers,
hi guys!
wifey lost her phone. i want to get her a 5mp phone with gps (so i can install remote tracker just in case she lost it again). and oh, ofcourse, it should be WM.
any thoughts?
ciao!
Wait for the HTC Touch HD, that's the only HTC phone I know of that has a 5MP camera and A-GPS.
ouch, im sure that'll be way over our budget then. lol.
thanks Black93300ZX.

Well that depends if it releases with a carrier for a subsidized price... If you're in the US, yeah, it'll be ridiculous money. I can't think of many other options with 5MP and GPS, at least, none closer to your price range... The Omnia has both but it'll probably cost you $700. :|
Samsung Omnia.
Having owned HTC devices for many years, I can say that im my opinion, the Omnia is far better than any HTC device i've owned (and that includes a Diamond).
there is a lot of myths about high mpixel cams quality
just adding more megapixels dont improve the quality
of the pictures if the optic is not good quality
and the lense is as small as cameras in phones
absolutley, its a converged device and therefore only to be compared with other converged devices. If you want a spanking camera the only way you will get that is with a "proper" camera.
That said, we need to drive demand for this stuff so that manufacturers keep pushing themselves in order for us to receive better and better for our money. If we didn't we'd still have monochrome screen nokia's using old gsm downloading (if you ever bothered!) at a sexy 9600 baud!
i agree with rudegar.
i just wanted my wife to get the best from among the phones out there. if the price of omnia is not that too far off from sonyericsson k850i, then i might get an omnia. albeit i've read on one of the threads that k850i cameras are the best (better than nokia n95, samsung g800, etc) although no gps
i guess the combination of goodcamera+gps is still too far away on the future.
thanks peeps!
well i wouldn't have believed it if i hadn't read myself but it seems that HTChas some competition and guess who it is........Nokia. yeah Nokia but here's thing what they have is really good this time its called "The Morph". absolutely futuristic.
http://yovia.com/blogs/gizmo/2010/03/09/nokia-is-definitely-thinking-of-the-future/
I'll believe it more if they showed the real thing instead of a drawing. And I'm guessing a technology like that would cost the same as a car. But I could be dead wrong.
Doesn't look like any competition to me...they have years to go.
That morph video has at least 4 years floating around
Nothing that we really see soon so HTC still the best for me, at least for now
i had someone argue with me the other day that samsung made better phones than HTC. i laughed....hard!!!! i hate samsung phones. they make good tv's though.

you obviously never used the original Omnia then. A very solid, reliable bit of kit and it was easily better than any HTC phone at the time for my purposes. Sadly, the Omnia 2 has issues that prevented me buying it and instead I bought a HD2.
that morph video is ard for years. check youtube, u see along of posting in past years
its only a concept. there are others also from other brandings
htc is themselve are not concentrating on winmo device. android are here instead, samsung did a wonderful customization for winmo also and have move on to android too. soon, their own os beda will be out

Well, if you ask me, they did make better phones than HTC. Up until the announcement of the HD2; Samsung's phones just utterly bested HTC's offerings. Really, at a time when HTC was still rocking the Touch HD as the best phone in their arsenal, Samsung released the Omnia HD; the Omnia HD is a phone so badass that it still stands as one of the best phones today (it was released in May 2009).
Off the top of my head, there are only two phones I know of that I would say matches it (N900 and Droid), and there is only one phone that I can definitively say bests it: The HD2.

if the omnias are so good then why do you have a fuze? imo samsung makes low qaulity phones except for the omnia 2 which i kinda like.
im guessing because it has a keyboard and the omnia 1 doesn't.

A keyboard is one of the reasons. Aside from that, the original i900 really isn't that much better than the Fuze. The i900 had a larger screen, better camera, and a more powerful CPU (with better drivers support), but it had less RAM, lower resolution, and lower battery life. The lack of a keyboard also made it a bit hard to swallow.
If nothing else, one of the primary reasons I own a Fuze today was because I managed to get it for cheap (much cheaper than it cost at the time anyway).
To get to the point, design-wise, the superiority of the two companies is debatable (personally, I actually like HTC's design better), but when it comes to specs, Samsung has pretty much been obliterating HTC for a good while. I'm not referring to the Omnia line either as Samsung put great specs in many of their phones. It is only recently that HTC managed to surpass Samsung at all and, mind you, the S8500 Wave (with its own 1Ghz Cortex, super AMOLED WVGA screen, and many other nice features) is going to be closing whatever gaps HTC managed to create in about a month.
Hello,
Currently I'm Android user. I had Desire and now I have Desire Z. I'm looking for Win device, because the UI is much better in my opinion and the OS is really good.
I hate Android market, because there are so many **** apps, you have to download other programs to filter the **** and etc. I hate it.
Second I hate are those widgets, tiles are much better for me.
So my questions:
Will MS update all their phones at the same time? Or will it be like Android, some of the devices will be updated, some will be left without update. I hate this on Android, because you have to buy many devices if you want to have the latest OS. I think this thing adds very much to the sales...
Other question: As I live in Lithuania (europe) will the market and other features work? Operators are selling some devices with WP7, but I want Samsung Omnia 7, because I think it's the best in battery/looks. Maybe you would recommend other phone?
Thanks for the answers very much ))
Well apparently MS will update all devices at once or at least this is what I know.
As for the Market, unfortunately it is not supported fully in many countries.
So for now you can download any freeapp, to buy you have to wait OR register credit card with US or UK address.
Oh, if they will be updated all together, that's wonderful! That is the most annoying thing in Android- fragmentation and a lot of **** devices. It can't be a good platform with many, many phones. Many apps don't work on many devices and phones are not updated and etc. :]
Well, as I wan't to buy new WP7 phone, which one would everyone suggest me? In our shops we have HD7 and Trophy, but I wanted to get Omnia 7. So what's the best? I need a good battery life, minimum 3,7 screen, good looking device ))

It sounds to me that the only requirements you have is a minimum screen size. Then you should go with the HD7 because it has 4,3 over the 3,8 on the Trophy. I also heard that there is a lot of problems with the Trophy. I ended up buying the Omnia 7, becasue of the AMOLED and the nice design(and because it what on sale) But then again HTC do have MicroSD slot inside which means that you can upgrade the space, where Omnia 7 only comes with 8gb NAND. That does makes the Omnia significant faster when loading applications but also mean you are suck with limited storage.

Well,
I had HD7 in hand and it wasn't so comfortable... The lock key is hard to reach and it's kinda big for me. Well, if it had a good battery life, I would consider it... But I heard that it has horrible battery... My main factors for phone is: Battery Life and Screen, well memory is important too... Omnia 7 would be perfect if it had 16Gb. I wrote to some sellers, because in Germany they have 16Gb versions, maybe in Lithuania they will have some too ))

Maybe, i don't think that 8gb is to little, special if you get ZunePass so you only stream your music instead of have them on your device. Special if you like me have a flat rate data plan. Well you could go for the German version (thought of that to, but could't find it anywhere) I'm getting my Omnia 7 tomorrow(i hope) and i'm pretty sure i wont regret
Oh P.S. In the future everything will be stored in the cloud, so why would you need physical memory (lol)

I have LG Optimus 7. Good device, good looking. Well built.
I would not get HTCHD7 because HTC used ****ty screen for this one.
And also HTC has usually bad cameras.
I wanted to buy SonyEricsson but they didn't make it.
I would take DellVenuePro or Samsung with the best camera.

Heh it's my first LG phone and I never thought I would buy it!
But it's well built and actually looks great in life.
Something I can't say about Samsung.
It also has 16GB and good batteery life.
i have a HTC 7 Trophy. It's what i would call the minimum spec'ed windows phone. and to be honest, it's fine. i'm not crazy about space, screensize, camera. battery life is just as good as any of the other phones. the issues reported seem to have died a bit. i think my screen still gets a bit dirty a bit too quickly, but i bought a screen protector to stop that issue. i was and am still interested in omnia 7 but now that i have the trophy, i can settle knowing that i pretty much have similar capabilities. my girlfriend will probably end up getting the omnia within a few months so i will be able to fiddle with both devices anyways.
The HD2 has AB 1150 mAh battery so yes its bad. It also has one of the worst possible display panels Htc. Could have chosen.
Get a venure pro instead of an Hd7. Much better phone in almost every way possible.

actually, the hd7 has a 1230 mah battery, still not great, but oh well.
What is your obsession with the dvp??? It doesn't have better specs, has the lowest memory of all the wp7 launch devices (can we even call it a launch device when no one could get it at launch), and it's only upside is the slide out portrait keyboard.
You know, I was very interested in the dvp, until it started having all these problems. Then to put half the ram that all the other phones are coming with...
I just don't trust dell enough to spend the money.
Get an Omnia 7. I had an HD2 and was looking at the HD7 but HTC really messed up with just copying old parts.
Omnia 7 is light, feels nice in hand, screen looks great and good battery.
Hello all,
I love big screens because I read a lot on phones,
so I decide to buy either the HTC Titan or the Titan II
my question to whom used both phones for a while
please advise which one should I invest my money in
I don't care a lot about camera or LTE network because I live in Egypt and LTE will be available within more than a year
I care a lot about signal strength and phone stability and long live
and somewhat the good looking and feel in hands
will the Titan I metal body be better than the Titan II plastic body?
I'll be waiting for your comments
and many thanks in advance

good point, I'll consider it
but at ebay used titan and used titan II prices are almost the same
so which one should i pick

basically they are the same devices except the huge camera !
if you want photography, go with the titan II (obviously 16mp vs 8mp)
for better battery life, go for the titan !!
the battery life on the og titan is much better than that on titan 2 !
your call !
good luck..

but I hope to hear more comments and opinions

I had a Titan and now I have the Titan II. My opinion after owning both I would go with the Titan II. The original Titan had some reception issues and the sound quality on voice calls was sporatic to bad, I was always getting complaints that I sounded underwater or far away. The Titan II has much better sound quality and I my opinion the reception is better. Battery life is almost the same especially if you live in an area that doesnt have LTE coverage yet. The camera is Super on the Titan II with lots of tweaking options, however the Titan camera is no slouch and takes very clear and crisp pics. Thats my two cents, voice quality is first and foremost in cell phones.

is there any difference in speed or screen quality?
If the prices were close, no question the Titan II. Why ?
Better over all device, better camera, better optics, a little newer design. Also, it's New, so it will be supported longer (when the it's said that the Titan is disco'ed).
This also brings up a point about WP8, Would you go with the older or newer one knowing current models would get WP8 and older ones might not ? (not saying that is true but, think about it)

Plastic will hold up.... The titan 2 looks like a higher end phone. The reviews I read about the Titan 2 claim it might be plastic but, looks like a really high quality phone. I would not worry about that, HTC phones are over all body wise have been pretty well built.
Remember there was something said about the titan 1 being discontinued, if that's the case, updates might be done with it...
mmmmmm.....
I can see that the titan II now should be the choice
is there any more advices

Stop in the store and take a look at them both and hold them both if you can. Besides the over all screen and everything else, it still is Windows Phone 7.5...
Personally, if I was with AT&T right now and between the 3 phones, Lumia 900, Titan and Titan 2, I would take the Titan 2.
The display is almost as good as the L900 but claimed better contrast on it, so it's easier on the eyes if you plan on reading books on it. And the camera, not that I take a lot of pictures but, when I do, they will be as good or better than the 16mp Sony point and shoot I have now. So, I wont need it any more, infact, I would sell it. With the bent display on the TItan 2 makes it look like a high end phone...

TITAN II any day
Hope u have picked up your choice of device .But if you havent , please do consider Titan II as the Titan have very poor voice quality and camera sucks ... My old HD7 takes better one than this .
The thing about call quality is because of a noise cancellation mic next to stereo socket .There is a thread which talks about covering it with a tape ... But all that has not helped me personally . Also if ther SRS enhancement is turned on , there is a lag on the whole system .. Its more like they came out with titan II cos of all these issues and cos they cannot help to fix it . So Titan II is recommended .
About Camera , it has that yellowish tint which used to be a common issue with HD2 , it has to do with the position of flash .. The daylight shots are pretty decent but night shots are very bad , take a look at yourself .
Build quality goes for Titan but who cares , i want to be able to talk and do things better with my new phone , not admire the material used .
