well i wouldn't have believed it if i hadn't read myself but it seems that HTChas some competition and guess who it is........Nokia. yeah Nokia but here's thing what they have is really good this time its called "The Morph". absolutely futuristic.
http://yovia.com/blogs/gizmo/2010/03/09/nokia-is-definitely-thinking-of-the-future/
I'll believe it more if they showed the real thing instead of a drawing. And I'm guessing a technology like that would cost the same as a car. But I could be dead wrong.
Doesn't look like any competition to me...they have years to go.
That morph video has at least 4 years floating around
Nothing that we really see soon so HTC still the best for me, at least for now
i had someone argue with me the other day that samsung made better phones than HTC. i laughed....hard!!!! i hate samsung phones. they make good tv's though.

you obviously never used the original Omnia then. A very solid, reliable bit of kit and it was easily better than any HTC phone at the time for my purposes. Sadly, the Omnia 2 has issues that prevented me buying it and instead I bought a HD2.
that morph video is ard for years. check youtube, u see along of posting in past years
its only a concept. there are others also from other brandings
htc is themselve are not concentrating on winmo device. android are here instead, samsung did a wonderful customization for winmo also and have move on to android too. soon, their own os beda will be out

Well, if you ask me, they did make better phones than HTC. Up until the announcement of the HD2; Samsung's phones just utterly bested HTC's offerings. Really, at a time when HTC was still rocking the Touch HD as the best phone in their arsenal, Samsung released the Omnia HD; the Omnia HD is a phone so badass that it still stands as one of the best phones today (it was released in May 2009).
Off the top of my head, there are only two phones I know of that I would say matches it (N900 and Droid), and there is only one phone that I can definitively say bests it: The HD2.

if the omnias are so good then why do you have a fuze? imo samsung makes low qaulity phones except for the omnia 2 which i kinda like.
im guessing because it has a keyboard and the omnia 1 doesn't.

A keyboard is one of the reasons. Aside from that, the original i900 really isn't that much better than the Fuze. The i900 had a larger screen, better camera, and a more powerful CPU (with better drivers support), but it had less RAM, lower resolution, and lower battery life. The lack of a keyboard also made it a bit hard to swallow.
If nothing else, one of the primary reasons I own a Fuze today was because I managed to get it for cheap (much cheaper than it cost at the time anyway).
To get to the point, design-wise, the superiority of the two companies is debatable (personally, I actually like HTC's design better), but when it comes to specs, Samsung has pretty much been obliterating HTC for a good while. I'm not referring to the Omnia line either as Samsung put great specs in many of their phones. It is only recently that HTC managed to surpass Samsung at all and, mind you, the S8500 Wave (with its own 1Ghz Cortex, super AMOLED WVGA screen, and many other nice features) is going to be closing whatever gaps HTC managed to create in about a month.
Hello,
Currently I'm Android user. I had Desire and now I have Desire Z. I'm looking for Win device, because the UI is much better in my opinion and the OS is really good.
I hate Android market, because there are so many **** apps, you have to download other programs to filter the **** and etc. I hate it.
Second I hate are those widgets, tiles are much better for me.
So my questions:
Will MS update all their phones at the same time? Or will it be like Android, some of the devices will be updated, some will be left without update. I hate this on Android, because you have to buy many devices if you want to have the latest OS. I think this thing adds very much to the sales...
Other question: As I live in Lithuania (europe) will the market and other features work? Operators are selling some devices with WP7, but I want Samsung Omnia 7, because I think it's the best in battery/looks. Maybe you would recommend other phone?
Thanks for the answers very much ))
Well apparently MS will update all devices at once or at least this is what I know.
As for the Market, unfortunately it is not supported fully in many countries.
So for now you can download any freeapp, to buy you have to wait OR register credit card with US or UK address.
Oh, if they will be updated all together, that's wonderful! That is the most annoying thing in Android- fragmentation and a lot of **** devices. It can't be a good platform with many, many phones. Many apps don't work on many devices and phones are not updated and etc. :]
Well, as I wan't to buy new WP7 phone, which one would everyone suggest me? In our shops we have HD7 and Trophy, but I wanted to get Omnia 7. So what's the best? I need a good battery life, minimum 3,7 screen, good looking device ))

It sounds to me that the only requirements you have is a minimum screen size. Then you should go with the HD7 because it has 4,3 over the 3,8 on the Trophy. I also heard that there is a lot of problems with the Trophy. I ended up buying the Omnia 7, becasue of the AMOLED and the nice design(and because it what on sale) But then again HTC do have MicroSD slot inside which means that you can upgrade the space, where Omnia 7 only comes with 8gb NAND. That does makes the Omnia significant faster when loading applications but also mean you are suck with limited storage.

Well,
I had HD7 in hand and it wasn't so comfortable... The lock key is hard to reach and it's kinda big for me. Well, if it had a good battery life, I would consider it... But I heard that it has horrible battery... My main factors for phone is: Battery Life and Screen, well memory is important too... Omnia 7 would be perfect if it had 16Gb. I wrote to some sellers, because in Germany they have 16Gb versions, maybe in Lithuania they will have some too ))

Maybe, i don't think that 8gb is to little, special if you get ZunePass so you only stream your music instead of have them on your device. Special if you like me have a flat rate data plan. Well you could go for the German version (thought of that to, but could't find it anywhere) I'm getting my Omnia 7 tomorrow(i hope) and i'm pretty sure i wont regret
Oh P.S. In the future everything will be stored in the cloud, so why would you need physical memory (lol)

I have LG Optimus 7. Good device, good looking. Well built.
I would not get HTCHD7 because HTC used ****ty screen for this one.
And also HTC has usually bad cameras.
I wanted to buy SonyEricsson but they didn't make it.
I would take DellVenuePro or Samsung with the best camera.

Heh it's my first LG phone and I never thought I would buy it!
But it's well built and actually looks great in life.
Something I can't say about Samsung.
It also has 16GB and good batteery life.
i have a HTC 7 Trophy. It's what i would call the minimum spec'ed windows phone. and to be honest, it's fine. i'm not crazy about space, screensize, camera. battery life is just as good as any of the other phones. the issues reported seem to have died a bit. i think my screen still gets a bit dirty a bit too quickly, but i bought a screen protector to stop that issue. i was and am still interested in omnia 7 but now that i have the trophy, i can settle knowing that i pretty much have similar capabilities. my girlfriend will probably end up getting the omnia within a few months so i will be able to fiddle with both devices anyways.
The HD2 has AB 1150 mAh battery so yes its bad. It also has one of the worst possible display panels Htc. Could have chosen.
Get a venure pro instead of an Hd7. Much better phone in almost every way possible.

actually, the hd7 has a 1230 mah battery, still not great, but oh well.
What is your obsession with the dvp??? It doesn't have better specs, has the lowest memory of all the wp7 launch devices (can we even call it a launch device when no one could get it at launch), and it's only upside is the slide out portrait keyboard.
You know, I was very interested in the dvp, until it started having all these problems. Then to put half the ram that all the other phones are coming with...
I just don't trust dell enough to spend the money.
Get an Omnia 7. I had an HD2 and was looking at the HD7 but HTC really messed up with just copying old parts.
Omnia 7 is light, feels nice in hand, screen looks great and good battery.
Hello all,
I love big screens because I read a lot on phones,
so I decide to buy either the HTC Titan or the Titan II
my question to whom used both phones for a while
please advise which one should I invest my money in
I don't care a lot about camera or LTE network because I live in Egypt and LTE will be available within more than a year
I care a lot about signal strength and phone stability and long live
and somewhat the good looking and feel in hands
will the Titan I metal body be better than the Titan II plastic body?
I'll be waiting for your comments
and many thanks in advance
Buy a used Titan and save your money for WP8.

good point, I'll consider it
but at ebay used titan and used titan II prices are almost the same
so which one should i pick
http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=4027&idPhone2=4411
basically they are the same devices except the huge camera !
if you want photography, go with the titan II (obviously 16mp vs 8mp)
for better battery life, go for the titan !!
the battery life on the og titan is much better than that on titan 2 !
your call !
good luck..
I made this gsmarena comparison before,
but thanks aaki_rocker anyway
you have talked about good perspective which is batery life
I'll be waiting for somebody to tell me actual opinion about which devise is good in hands
and which one is more reliable in daily operations

but I hope to hear more comments and opinions

I had a Titan and now I have the Titan II. My opinion after owning both I would go with the Titan II. The original Titan had some reception issues and the sound quality on voice calls was sporatic to bad, I was always getting complaints that I sounded underwater or far away. The Titan II has much better sound quality and I my opinion the reception is better. Battery life is almost the same especially if you live in an area that doesnt have LTE coverage yet. The camera is Super on the Titan II with lots of tweaking options, however the Titan camera is no slouch and takes very clear and crisp pics. Thats my two cents, voice quality is first and foremost in cell phones.

that was very helpful
but can you please tel us which phone is better in the build quality
is it the metalic titan or the plastic titan 2? I'm a very heavy phone user and build quality is important to me
is there any difference in speed or screen quality?
If the prices were close, no question the Titan II. Why ?
Better over all device, better camera, better optics, a little newer design. Also, it's New, so it will be supported longer (when the it's said that the Titan is disco'ed).
This also brings up a point about WP8, Would you go with the older or newer one knowing current models would get WP8 and older ones might not ? (not saying that is true but, think about it)

Plastic will hold up.... The titan 2 looks like a higher end phone. The reviews I read about the Titan 2 claim it might be plastic but, looks like a really high quality phone. I would not worry about that, HTC phones are over all body wise have been pretty well built.
Remember there was something said about the titan 1 being discontinued, if that's the case, updates might be done with it...
mmmmmm.....
I can see that the titan II now should be the choice
is there any more advices

Stop in the store and take a look at them both and hold them both if you can. Besides the over all screen and everything else, it still is Windows Phone 7.5...
Personally, if I was with AT&T right now and between the 3 phones, Lumia 900, Titan and Titan 2, I would take the Titan 2.
The display is almost as good as the L900 but claimed better contrast on it, so it's easier on the eyes if you plan on reading books on it. And the camera, not that I take a lot of pictures but, when I do, they will be as good or better than the 16mp Sony point and shoot I have now. So, I wont need it any more, infact, I would sell it. With the bent display on the TItan 2 makes it look like a high end phone...

TITAN II any day
Hope u have picked up your choice of device .But if you havent , please do consider Titan II as the Titan have very poor voice quality and camera sucks ... My old HD7 takes better one than this .
The thing about call quality is because of a noise cancellation mic next to stereo socket .There is a thread which talks about covering it with a tape ... But all that has not helped me personally . Also if ther SRS enhancement is turned on , there is a lag on the whole system .. Its more like they came out with titan II cos of all these issues and cos they cannot help to fix it . So Titan II is recommended .
About Camera , it has that yellowish tint which used to be a common issue with HD2 , it has to do with the position of flash .. The daylight shots are pretty decent but night shots are very bad , take a look at yourself .
Build quality goes for Titan but who cares , i want to be able to talk and do things better with my new phone , not admire the material used .

Agree w/ Tim here, but for that price you can go to swappa and get a nice Nexus 4. Same screen res, camera (even though ours is better), and screen size. Also, the n4 is a little more future proof w/ 2 gigs of ram and a s4pro chipset.

Sounds like you are comparing specs and not actual quality. Just because the screens have equal resolution, does not by any measure mean they will have the same image quality. HTC displays blow away LG any day. One X had the best display on any smartphone in its time, and probably only surpassed by the display on the One. In general, LG hardware is consistantly underwhelming. Folks comparing the One X to even the Nexus 5 have mentioned the One X has slightly better display, camera, and speaker; and that the N5 is only an upgrade in terms of the processor and RAM.
That said, whether the deal mentioned by the OP is a "good" one or not is completely subjective. Depends on your personal situation and expectations. If you are on a budget and not eligible for any type of carrier subsidy, the One X is still a decent phone for that price. On the other hand, in a few months it will be 2 years old (a long time in the smartphone world) and HTC (as well as Samsung) will likely be releasing their new flagship, 2 generations newer than the One X. Personally, I don't usually buy tech that is even 1 generation old, much less 2. But again, it depends on how much you are willing to spend on a device, and what you expect out of it.
Well, wouldn't your use of "quality" is also subjective? I mean I'm pretty sure there are people out there that would say the n4, sg3, or some other high-end device (at the time) has better "quality" than our phone. So, yes I did refer to specs because it's not subjective. The OP will have to consider the "quality" factor that you mentioned. However, the OP will also have to consider updates that may or may not come to the phone. HTC has already proven that our phone is not a priority any longer. So we have to depend on the community for said updates. Google, on the other hand, will still continue to update the n4 couple more iterations (I'm assuming here), hence why I used "future proof". Don't get me wrong, I agree with you on the "quality" of this phone. It's why I purchased it a little over a year ago.
Yeah, I've been looking for a reason to warrant spending the hundreds to upgrade this phone, but its proven fruitless .
With that given, I wouldn't buy it new now for $240. You can get the LG Optimus G 970's for less than that and they're quad core, with 2gb of ram and have expansion port.
its a gr8 phone if u can manage with stock android 4.2 sense 5 wch is really good...... thr is plenty of dev support for kitkat n ahead bt u cannot rely on future... for me its still better option than moto g r nexus 4 purely for its quality...

Is quality subjective? To some extent yes. But you can read in review after review that HTC's displays are superior to just about any in the industry. Some might find the over saturated colors on the Samsung OLED screens to be more to their liking. But LG displays, I don't think you will find too many folks that think they are better than HTC.
Its just a peeve of mine when consumers fall for the marketing gimmick of touting nearly meaningless specs/stats. MPs on a camera and resolution on a screen do not in any way guarantee that the actual image quality is good. Things often sound great on paper, and less so in real life. And while the quality is somewhat not quantifiable, it is also not always completely subjective.
OK. To the OP, I apologize for getting off track. I will answer your question directly: no, I don't think spending $230 on this phone is a good idea. I wouldn't pay more than $160 brand new. There are better alternatives out there for the money. You should consider your what you want out of your perspective device and consider your options.
It's such a shame that the K Zoom never really took off. I owned one for about 6 months and loved it. I only changed it when the Note 4 was released. But during my time with the KZ I found the camera produced amazing photos with its 10X zoom and Xenon flash. The phone part was very capable too with a good sized high resolution screen, along with a decent amount of power. I also thought the price tag on this device was very reasonable too.
So why did it fail? Well I am guessing on a few theories. Firstly, maybe that it looked too much like the Galaxy S5 and although I personally don't think either the S5 or KZ look bad at all, a lot of people do. Samsung was getting a lot of criticism for their lack lustre designs and maybe it was released at the wrong time. Another theory would be that it was bulky. Though less so than its predecessor the Galaxy S4 Zoom. Maybe some weren't sure about a hybrid device, especially when cameras on phones in general were exceeding the quality of standalone cameras.
But I am a firm believer that one of the reasons these niche devices fail, is because Samsung just don't develop or support them once they are released. I mean development for their flagship phones doesn't exactly impress, so what chance does a less popular device get? Take the Galaxy Camera and the Galaxy Camera 2. Both great and revolutionary devices at the time but they just didn't get any proper updates. Both stuck on Jelly Bean and both having issues that a firmware upgrade could have cured. The K Zoom would have benefited from some firmware update love and an upgrade from KK 4.4.2 too was much needed.
I have always wanted to be able to afford to keep certain phones I buy in an archive. But due to the cost I tend to trade everything in to get the latest devices. If I had to choose which ones I would keep, then the K Zoom would be one of them. It is a great phone hybrid, it's a shame it didn't sell well and it's sad there is no successor in the pipeline.
So, why do you think the KZ didn't do so well?
I love the Kzoom - i will never be getting rid of it
I have a few fones , my main driver is zen2 4gb ram 64gb 64 bit SoC .
The kzoom is too luxurious to carry around , mainly for special events
The little development that has been, is enough for me -- its a special device and always will be in my eyes
The only fail is people just want the latest and thats not always the best !
Perhaps Samsung should consider aggressively supporting custom ROM development for the device?
I still use my KZ SM-C111 & take it everywhere I go, I think it's the best android smartphone ever. The only downside is no real support from Samsung.
I just wish anyone successfully make Lollipop Lite for KZ since it came with only 8GB capacity :crying:
it's big, it's heavy, it doesn't have enougth memory, the camera is not dust proof, the battery is too small, but I cannot find any other smartphone with a 10x zoom !
Hello, I really love my k zoom. The pictures are beautiful and the phone is absolutely not to heavy. Soon I can pick another phone but what about the motorola x style?
The fact its big and heavier than normal are exactly the reasons I was seriously considering getting one for my mum who has problems with her hands. The weight and size would be easier for her to hold, modern phones are too small and light that she would just drop them.
The fact its stuck on KitKat is a problem though as I worry about any security holes left in the OS due to no updates.
Love it!
:good:
I've got the K-Zoom from the time it just got out and love it.
The only thing that really suck is the way Samsung has been treating its customers with their crappy update policy but one cant blame the phone for that
The main reason the phone never really 'took off' is in my opinion:
Lack of publicity in Europe.
I havent met anyone in Europe who knew the phone. Everyone who sees it and whom I inform about its specs is interested. Especially in its camera's capability's. The huge lens that appears out of the phone amazes everyone as well as the quality of the pictures. Havent had any negative remarks about the looks or its weight. In fact I've had countless requests of people who wanted to buy it from me.
The name should have been S5 zoom to like the S4 zoom which was more of a camera that could make calls.
I only found out about the K-zoom after intensive search for a good camera phone. Most people don't take that time but after calling/messaging, making pictures/videos is the biggest thing on smartphones so the problem want lack of interest.
Sure there are better phones and better cameras but who wants to pack both all the time?
I love my K Zoom but I wish Samsung (or an XDA developer) would support Marshmallow on it and allow apps to be transferred to the SD card.
The K-Zoom is not dead...

I love my K Zoom. Was definitely not advertised enough/properly. After I Rooted my phone (My first Rooted phone) I was able to transfer all apps to the external 64gb SD & I mean all (Games, applications, etc)
The only reason that I want to change my phone is its lack of Mirrorlink support that my new vehicle has.
Great camera, good battery life
I even have my LG Optimus 3D because of its 3D camera & glasses free 3D content.
Its for keeps...

You are lucky if you can afford to keep them. I had a HTC Evo 3D and I loved it. But 3D never took off sadly, the novelty factor was awesome but like most novelties they fall out of favour. This is another phone I would like to have kept in my little phone museum!

I disagree. This is just a bolt on to a phone, it's not the true hybrid device of the K-Zoom or S4 Zoom. It looks like Samsung don't have plans to produce another phone like this (though you never know)

Here I am from Rome, I quote everything you say. Now I'm just waiting my other phone (P9) to come back from service due to a broken (insured) glass and I'll send there my KZoom to change and clean the lens. This is the only drawback of such a good phone and such an extraordinary camera (I took some wonderful night pictures in Pisa, couldn't believe my eyes). As soon as it will be back I will root it and try to swap memorys.

I recently damaged my screen with some water. Got me a S5 mini. These are rather cheap and are quite good actually as well as water resist
Its 8mp cam doesn't perform al that bad but it doesn't compare to the K-zoom which i'm definitely going to get fixed!
Our K-zooms are going to be collectors items since there have only been made and sold few of them i believe :good:
Samsung K Zoom was the king once
Bought this phone (CM 115) for my wife the other day since it was on special and she has always wanted one ever since it was released almost two years back. She absolutely loves her new K Zoom and it's so sad to see how such a powerful phone camera is being ignored by it's developer Samsung.
This phone is amazing with how smoothly it integrates with that camera on board. Just also hope that one day there might be a little bit of something coming from Samsung for this phone in terms of OS that might make this phone more current.
I too own the Galaxy K Zoom, it's a bit...damaged - but otherwise works fine
Got it super cheap due to the digitizer being cracked near the bottom, and thought it was the greatest thing ever with that massive camera!
Played around with it for a while and yeah, it's a great phone with reasonable specs, looks like an S5 (Which never bothered me), and was the perfect blend of a "Camera Phone".
For use as a phone - perfect. In your hands it feels just like that era of Samsung Devices, then go into Camera Mode and it becomes like one of Samsungs flagship cameras. It's amazing how that switch is so well thought out.
Hex-Core, 2GB RAM, 4G/LTE etc. At first I thought it has to be more powerful, logically than the S5 but I think I maybe wrong.
Probably due to being on 4.4.2 and my S5 being on 6.0.1, there's a noticeable difference in speed and all that. The S5 is snappy whereas the K Zoom is a bit laggy.
Camera - I used it a lot for some great photos of close ups of electronics, PCBs etc. Then I kind of got a little iffy with the battery draining quick when taking a decent amount of photos and with the whole phone getting pretty warm and went to my S5 again and was happy with it.
So for 6 months it's been in my DroidDraw, (I have a lot of unusual Android based phones in there) and this was hidden at the side along with my other camera based phones like my HTC Evo 3D and Sharp Aquos 3D Camera phone (SH16?), anyway, got the K Zoom out and really made me think why did this phone fail. It is a great phone but for consumers, being bulky, looking like a reused design, an old OS etc. I think it all attributed to it becoming just one of those fad phones.
Whatever, I appreciate it for what it is. Samsung need to do another phone mix up one day. They can do it. Just need the demands for it I suppose.
So nobody made Lolipop for this phone ? How come ?
