Hi, i accidentally installed the august 29 update on my rogers magic, and now my phone has a perfected spl. I don't really want to void my 3 year warranty or brick my phone by downgrading to an engineering spl. Is there any way just to downgrade using an old rom update?
:Also i was searching and i couldn't find a straight answer on whether or not a custom rom will install on a perfected non rooted phone
anyone have any ideas?

And my only solution was the Gold Card method, which worked. I am now running the 1.3.0010 ENG one.
My phone already shipped with the perfected SPL (as shown above), but I had not applied the HTC/Rogers download patch, which puts on the Perfected SPL for older phones.
Do the gold card, get the ENG spl on, after that, pick and dump on your rom of choice. Try not to "accidentally" install any more Rogers Updates

thanks i ordered a kingston 2 gb card yesterday to use as a goldcard. I didn't exactly accidentally install the update, i just didn't know that it would install a perfected spl onto my phone.

Hello i flash my 32b with "Official 3.03.990.6 SenseUI ROM for Vodafone", the phone is now in "RUU", i can t re-flash it or i don t found the good RUU.
I from france and i try all Ruu i can, but nothing.

I have stucked in the same situation and I used the following to restore the phone:
Frist use HTC Sync fo Magic to update the phone with below ROM:

same here after i flash my 32b with Official 3.03.990.6 and got a nice brick too.
i have tried arahma's RUU but im getting customer id error, update fail!
Dont know what to do anymore, fastboot find the device but i cant bootload recovery.img
Adb does not find device, so cant get a gold card.

I think the key thing people are missing here is that this persons phone was a 32b not a 32a and after the bad flash its now coming up with 32a, i have the exact same issue and nothing seems to work, so i think ill tuf it and go back to my Windows Mobile (as much as i hate it) phone

You guys need to use the search function and read.
This issue has been posted multiple times before. Flashing the 32A only ROM on a 32B makes you unable to get out or RUU update mode. You wont be able to put anything on the phone, as the image extraction process will error out. You are now the owner of a brick.
perhaps you should have a look and see that i have kinda fixed the problem, and this wouldnt have happened if someone on here hadnt said that the rom was for 32b when in fact it was for 32a.

Yes. You can run RUU so many times, as you want)))
If RUU founds same SPL, it doesn't flash SPL, but system/boot/data flashed again
You have CustomerID HTC__037 - it's Indonesia
SO you can run RUU 3.03.728.4 without goldcard (HTC posted it special for Indonesia, Malaysia & Vietnam only)

There are plenty of threads about this. The short answer is that you cannot root this SPL at the moment. All the devs that would have worked on this are now working on the N1 so don't hold your breath waiting for a solution.
If anyone 'claims' to have rooted this ask for a link to the SAPPimg they used.
To be honest that last post is rubbish!
I had that spl AND i rooted it using AMON_RA's tutorial HERE and also HERE
Other that you can search for recovery flasher and use that! I had perfected spl when it came back from repair and its rooted,with dwangs rom on AND engineering spl now..

The only problem I had was finding a compatible SD card to turn into a Goldcard.
For me a Kingston 2GB did the trick where several Sandisk and unbranded cards failed.
I'll add my testimony! I had 1.33.0007 when I received my warranty replacement. I used the goldcard method from the Unlockr! Go here for instructions! The only thing that aggravated me until I figured out how to fix it was the vodafone splash screen... easy fix once I actually looked into it... thingonaspring and bonesy - Your links are much easier to follow than the Unlockr's!
if i were to extract the radio image from the tmobile ota update from the DMD64 ota file,
and flash it to my mytouch3g that is currently on 1.33.2005 engineering with cyanogen recovery1.4 using adb... would it reboot fine? or which engineering spl should i update to after the radio flash using the cm-recovery or should it be amonRa's recovery in order for this to work right?...
any insight... just trying to keep the radio to the newest for tmobiles network speed....

I'm not sure about 1.33.2005, need to check what Hboot is inside DRC92-update, according info what DMD64 is update from DRC92.
I explored DMD64 update - there is no new Hboot - only radio, recovery and other files.
My two cents (i didn't say "yes" or "no")
p.s. found this, it seems like T-Mobile installed SPL 1.33.0007 into new regular MT3G (I bought mine in october 2009, SPL was 1.33.0006)

I have managed to create a goldcard and apply this engineering spl (Engineerings SPL v1.33.2010 - ROM v2.53.707.2) by Amon_RA in hboot.
After rebooting, the splashscreen has changed to HTC and I now have Android v1.5. Everything went well, so I thought until I went back to fastboot to check on the SPL

And the radio is now 3.22.20.17.
I understand I have messed up by applying the wrong SPL. I tried to fastboot "recovery-RA-sapphire-v1.6.2G.img", it hangs at the HTC magic splashscreen.
My questions:
What should one do to obtain s-off g and the appropriate radio?
Should one:
apply a different SPL, say 1.33.2004? < I think this is a google phone engineering SPL?
Or:
Change the radio following Amon_RA Revert to 32B Radio and ROM instructions?
The whole point of me gaining root access is to store applications on the sdcard and have a clean fast ROM.

I am running Amon_RA custom ROM at the moment and it is asking me to activate my T-mobile myTouch 3G phone. Now I could not use gmail because I could not activate via a t-mobile sim card.
Under Settings > About phone > Model number = T-Mobile mytouch 3G
Is there any way I could change this Amon_RA to a vodafone base? or is there anyway to activate google account via wifi like it was in Vodafone?

After turning off and on the phone. I am able to log onto google via wifi
Amon_RA custom ROM is fast! I am enjoying the clean v1.6 android. Way faster than the stock ROM.
Perhaps later I will try Cyanogen ROM

If I ever need to send the phone back to Vodafone - how do I revert back to the stock ROM and SPL?
flash the stock rom (either from your backup or search the web),
flash the stock splash if you have a custom one by then,
flash the perfect SPL back.
That should be it.
