HBOOT-1.33.0010
Please proceed at your own risk. These worked for me. should work for all the HTC Magics in India. Dont know about the others.
Steps -
1. Download Recovery Flasher 1.4. Backup recovery image.
2. Download Amon_RA's RAv1.2.1H modded recovery image. Copy it at root of sd card. Rename it recovery.img
3. In Recover Flasher type “/sdcard/recovery.img”
4. Download "Engineering SPL 1.33.2005".(No other SPLs worked for me). Copy to root of memory card. Rename it to update.zip
5. Download any 32a Custom ROM (I used Amon_RA's). Copy to root of memory card. Rename to ROM.zip
5. Reboot in Recovery mode. (home+power). Backup with Nandroid.
6. Apply from sd card - update.zip. Reboot from menu after it says so. It will again boot into recovery mode. Seems to be stuck on "Clearing Cache....".
7. Reboot by pressing back+power. Check SPL is changed to 1.33.2005. Then power down.
8. Reboot into Recovery. Apply any zip from SD - ROM.zip
9. Once it is finished, WIPE THE PHONE from the recovery menu.
10. Reboot into a new android world.
Never used a Gold card. Those SPL's don't seem so perfect anymore.

Please be aware that this method (using Zinx's recovery flasher) will probably NOT work for firmwares released after August 2009...
Will the SPL 1.33.2010 work, my magic is waiting for the fix to perfect SPL, i already bricked a my touch and dont want such to appen with my new 32a

when I was root on my Magic, but after that, I cant do anything custom, not even flash in any way, so my root rights are gone and can never be regained?

Just use Goldcard method to root... It's the only way I've found for that SPL

You have root already.
Post your adb output:
adb shell id

Functionality of using goldcard is ONLY avoiding check for Customer ID.
And now what? can I flash just the eng 2005 spl? If so, would the procedure described in post no 1(this thread) would do the trick?

As you have SPL 1.33.0010 and phone 32A you may flash rather SPL 1.33.2010 (same in my signature)

SPL is like BIOS at computer. You only flash engineering SPL via recovery and nothing more.
If you want try some custom ROMs (with SenseUi or with Droid UI) you may do it via recovery too. But beware official RUU updates and updates, which contained hboot

I had a goldcard created just in case. All I had to do is to flash the spl from the recov menu.
worked like a charm.
From now on, can I attempt to flash any rom I want? For now I should keep away from RUUs right?

Yes. But use only Roms with tag [32A]
p.s. Cursorsense is not compatible with SPL 1.33.XXXX
yeap, I was reading the entire cursorsense thread now. I intend to update the radio and the spl to try the rom.
From spl 1.33.2010 i can simply flash 1.76 required for cursor right? and the radio also; I've read that there's a way to return to 1.33.2010 eng spl if I would like to try other roms.
What I don't understand, why this limitation to that specific spl ver from cursorsense rom? it is not based on 1.5 cupcake? This is still pretty unclear to me. Is it because of the kernel 3.x ?

Today through this forum, I came to know latest Singapore ROM ( 1.5 + Sense). I was curies to flash that and without seeing it has a new version of perfected SPL I did it and now I am stuck. I cannot burn the Amon_RA's 1.6.2.

i flashed Amon_RA [How-To] Fix perfected SPL (fastboot remote: not allow) from thid thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=548218
and i used ROM v2.16.151.1 (NON-Perfected stock SPL v1.33.0009) of course via goldcard/hboot without any problems or errors.
nice thread, but as stated there you must flash "a ROM with a version that is HIGHER than your current ROM version." there is no higher version than 3.03.751.4 which comes with Taiwan or Singapore 1.5 + sense ui
so the only solution right now is to wait for a higher version with a non perfected SPL.
Did you upgrade to Official HTC sense ROM successfully before?

I have tried it with those three rom.
what i got is
Main Version is older.
Update failed.
AFAIK, ROM higher version than singapore with non-perfected spl is not released yet.

Hi,
you are also stuck with perfected spl.
If you want, you can try to fix your SPL by following Amon_ra's fixed perfected spl thread or fastboot into recovery mode.
AFAIK, there is no solution YET to fix that HBOOT-1.76.0007 (SAPP10000).

# Press the ACTION KEY (=trackball) to start the update.
# Wait until the update completes and press the ACTION KEY (=trackball) to reboot your phone.

Did you download and flash the correct Amon_Ra recovery image? There are 2, one is G and other is H, look at the link/file you downloaded.
Follow directions closely. There are 2 different versions of the sapphire 32A or 32B. always make sure you use the right stuff that you are trying to download for.
There is also no need to create a goldcard any more for the perfected SPL. Look up the Sapphire WIKI that is stickied and gather the important information.
Then follow the directions in this link: this worked perfectly for me.

I also came across other threads that indicate how to do this much simpler way, but this is the only one I can vouch for since I have tried it.
just download the 32B radio and recovery image, then go into fastboot and do this
fastboot flash radio radio.img
fastboot erase system -w
fastboot erase boot
fastboot erase recovery
fastboot flash recovery recovery-RAv1.2.3G.img

loads of thanks guys but i messed up the recovery i flashed was of H build and ROM i was trying to load was of 32B i did the flashing and now cannot go forth the HTC MAGIC logo i am stuck there
but i can go to the recovery and also can go to the fastboot and Hboot menu wat to do now

Lol. If you actually read the thread you "followed", would would have noticed Amon_RA's comment later on which says..
"[...] if you're using a 32B you just have to flash a 32B radio after (see how-to root mytouch thread for more info on that)."
As already stated, you need to flash back to a 32B radio and the fastboot command(s) were posted on Page 1. If you don't know how to use fastboot then you need to do more reading before attempting anything like this - you will need the Android SDK from their website.
Ofc flashing your radio can brick your phone if dont wrong, so I'd advise you do some reading up.

I'm not sure if the radio img on the HTC Dev site is suitable - I mean I guess so, but I don't know much about radio flashing so am not 100%.
Check the stickies for links, or search for guides on fastboot/using adb.

Lol, then you needn't have downgraded in the first place. But anyway..
I'd advise sorting out your radio.img first (maybe the one from the HTC Dev ION site, but as I say I'm not sure), flashing an engineering SPL (now you don't have a perfect SPL anymore, this is a relatively straightforward procedure) and then flashing the Google ION official 1.6 ROM (unmodified ROM but you can gain root access and it's just normal 1.6).

RA 1.2.3G, Latest SPL, and Qtek Rom1.8 along with BFS300B is all you need. Takes 15 minutes to have a blazing fast machine on your hand

Frist use HTC Sync fo Magic to update the phone with below ROM:

Dont know what to do anymore, fastboot find the device but i cant bootload recovery.img
Adb does not find device, so cant get a gold card.

I think the key thing people are missing here is that this persons phone was a 32b not a 32a and after the bad flash its now coming up with 32a, i have the exact same issue and nothing seems to work, so i think ill tuf it and go back to my Windows Mobile (as much as i hate it) phone

You guys need to use the search function and read.
This issue has been posted multiple times before. Flashing the 32A only ROM on a 32B makes you unable to get out or RUU update mode. You wont be able to put anything on the phone, as the image extraction process will error out. You are now the owner of a brick.
perhaps you should have a look and see that i have kinda fixed the problem, and this wouldnt have happened if someone on here hadnt said that the rom was for 32b when in fact it was for 32a.

I have managed to create a goldcard and apply this engineering spl (Engineerings SPL v1.33.2010 - ROM v2.53.707.2) by Amon_RA in hboot.
After rebooting, the splashscreen has changed to HTC and I now have Android v1.5. Everything went well, so I thought until I went back to fastboot to check on the SPL

As you can see it is now s-off h where it should be g?
And the radio is now 3.22.20.17.
I understand I have messed up by applying the wrong SPL. I tried to fastboot "recovery-RA-sapphire-v1.6.2G.img", it hangs at the HTC magic splashscreen.
My questions:
What should one do to obtain s-off g and the appropriate radio?
Should one:
apply a different SPL, say 1.33.2004? < I think this is a google phone engineering SPL?
Or:
Change the radio following Amon_RA Revert to 32B Radio and ROM instructions?
The whole point of me gaining root access is to store applications on the sdcard and have a clean fast ROM.

I have managed to downgrade the radio back to 2.22.19.26I using Amon_RA method. Here is the latest HBOOT info:

I am running Amon_RA custom ROM at the moment and it is asking me to activate my T-mobile myTouch 3G phone. Now I could not use gmail because I could not activate via a t-mobile sim card.
Under Settings > About phone > Model number = T-Mobile mytouch 3G
Is there any way I could change this Amon_RA to a vodafone base? or is there anyway to activate google account via wifi like it was in Vodafone?

After turning off and on the phone. I am able to log onto google via wifi
Amon_RA custom ROM is fast! I am enjoying the clean v1.6 android. Way faster than the stock ROM.
Perhaps later I will try Cyanogen ROM

One more question:
If I ever need to send the phone back to Vodafone - how do I revert back to the stock ROM and SPL?
flash the stock rom (either from your backup or search the web),
flash the stock splash if you have a custom one by then,
flash the perfect SPL back.
That should be it.
