Which navigator is the best for HTC Diamond 2?
and which once work, the only one I think which is compatible with HTC Diamond 2 is iGo8 if I am wrong tell me.
ur wrong...tomtom works fine aswell
Copilot 8 works just fine
I use Tom Tom 7 and Ndrive, both work just fine.
Currently trialling Navigon Navigator 7, which also seems to work pretty well.
I use Destinator 7, NDrive, Garmin XT, iGO8, TomTom and the last couple of houres I'm testin Destnator 8.
All run stable, good speed, but which is best... difficult to say.
It depends on the trip-town-neighbor are used.
I've tried iGO, Copilot, and now I stick with Garmin. (mainly because I find they update their maps the most, and they have lots of custom cars to choose from).
I liked the UI of Copilot a LOT. But I noticed it made the Diamond 2 very hot.
I enjoyed the 3D view of iGo with the buildings, but it was very slow, and the maps were old as well.
I've used iGo8 on the Diamond and Diamond 2 for almost the last 2 years, mostly for work, and I'm very happy with it. Updated maps are easily available and I find the UI the most intuitive and quickest on the market. In comparison, TomTom seems strangely dated and is a nightmare when it comes to panning and zooming on the map screen. The Diamond 2 can sometimes get a little hot with iGo8, but I have it charging in the car at the same time so that can be a factor.
I only use it in portrait mode, landscape seems not to work on the Diamond 2 (or at least I can't be bothered to figure it out). But iGo always gets my vote!
Sygic is another option that works well on TD2 - similar in many respects to Tomtom in terms of menu structures and UI, but graphics are better and screen refresh rate is faster so it isn't as jerky.
Routing is questionable at times - Tomtom definitely wins out on that score.
Garmin, NDrive and CoPilot are also good, but iGo8 is the best for me by a considerable margin.
Tomtom defenitely wins.. it is also the only one that rotates immediately when you rotate the td2..

I use on Diamond2 IGO 8.3.x - no problems with landscape, only what I need is set the screen rotation. I'm using IGO also due to the reason that there are only two companies which make maps of Cyprus.
I'm using both iGO and TOMTOM. iGO leads me to my destination with a long way. The same destination TOMTOM win. But in my country, TOMTOM map is old. So i prefer to use iGO anyway.
I also got diamond 2, and I'm sure Tomtom can run on it. And they provide the free trial. I used it and it's good, but after that I'm afraid the fee is unaffordable....You can have a look at zorro. A cheap and also nice gps which I'm using.
copilot
tomtom maybe cool if it auto rotates
but it costs a lot more than co pilot does
My vote

I use only igo 8.3 and 8.4 (amigo) in landscape mode on my diamond 2 lol
I must tell so that I have also Tom Tom 7.9 in portrait mode. Why ? sometimes I need a quick and dirty interface and tom tom is quicker than igo to start. Beside I like the "find the nearest emergency service".
But all for all, the best is igo

Hi there,
I am looking for a good car navigation solution for Raphael (for travelling in Europe). After reading infos about TT which seems to work at least with the latest releases and Navigon (for which I am not that sure ...), I now read about Tele Atlas McGuider which also seems to be quite good and even less expensive, but it seems to lack TMC or other traffic assistance support which is crucial for me (radio broadcasted or via internet, I do not mind, but it is a must).
I know that there are some other solutions out there. I wonder if you guys have experiences to share, also w/regard to VGA screen resolution and so on.
Thanks!
Eriol
I like the CoPilot Live, works very well and has a nice look and feel.
Co Pilot live is ok, but the traffic part of it is rubbish compared with tomtom. There is no visual display of traffic incidents ahead on the map, only a description that pops up with incident details which you either avoid or ignore. You can set it to automatically reroute, but you dont know whats going on. In my opinion, tomtom is currently the best.
I also found co-pilot slow to scroll around the map, but there again i dont have a fast mem card. Unfortunately there si no trial version available. make sure you get the version specific for the HTC diamond (also compatible with Touch Pro). It can be purchased online (from handango) cheaper than most retail stores.
Thx to both of you! I still would like to compare TomTom with McGuider ...
Eriol
McGuider
Hello,
I am using last version McGuider (7.x I think) and it work fine, but map and icons are too small, I and don't know if it can be repair.
Please if some one use thist program please write down here about how work.
Bye
Garmin XT is the best imo. TT cannot hold a candle to Garmin.
iGO 8
I think iGO 8 is the best solution for Raphael
Navigon
I really like Navigon !

Hi Jochen,
I have a stand alone PNA running Navigon 6.5, and I like it, too. But my experience with Navigon, especially running on my HTC Wizard (MN 6.x), is that the route calculation is rather slow and the whole app is not that fast on a PDA. This might be different on a Raphael due to processor speed, though. We also will use an Xperia X1 here: Is it possible to run MN7 on 800x480 screens?
Eriol
i maybe wrong, but some navigation programs will only run when the supplied memory card is installed. Installing the maps to another card will not work which therefore means you have to swap cards when using the software. Check before you buy!!!

Navigon is nice-- but once you're in the tunnel and lose signal it would say you've reach your destination I also don't like its route calculation-- it's giving me a longer route than tomtom
To my mind ist the default navigation (TomTom 7.451) the best. it uses vga, is fast, new maps

In Copilot7 there is indeed visual display of incidents ahead on the map, you also can get to incident-specific info in just three taps, reporting delay and other usefull info........
No need for automatic rerouting, you can let Copilot ask you what you want to do, after you have read the incident-info and delay time.....
No need for the diamond-version either, regular version runs great on my Touchpro....
See.......................you we're allmost right.....
Someone tried Navigon Mobile Navigator 7 for PDA on Raphael?
Is it compatible and full working?
Before then I buy, I asked to the support team, but no clear response about it.
Thanks.
NAVIGON Mobile Navigator 7 can work fine on Raphael, with this simple workaround.
You need a GPS port replicator (like Franson GPSgate) to solve the GPS signal stability problem on MN7.
I hope this can help who love this product family.
Whats the best navigator to use on the fuze? i cant seem to get tomtom installed so im looking for other options
I am a fan of Navngo Igo8. I also use Ndrive but prefer Igo8. It works perfect on the fuze. Ndrive is cool if you could get the 3d maps which are only available for certain cities in europe.
i tend to push garmin mobile xt. its very accurate and has the most pretty and user friendly interface. the software is technically free but it has to be unlocked to use a non garmin branded gps and the maps can be a little on the expensive side. and installation is weird. but its my favorite. i do use google maps alot though. just because its a little quicker to break out than any proper navigation software. garmin does have google built in which is a nice feature for looking up anything from flight times to looking up gas prices in your area. itll even route you to the cheapest gas station in your area which is my favorite feature. i couldnt get tomtom to work properly and it felt half finished. its up to you really.
i wanted to give TomTom a go but the only negative thing i heard about it was its better in other countries
The TeleAtlas maps that TomTom uses do tend to be better in other countries. Navteq tends to have the most complete maps in the US, which is what Garmin uses.
You can get either type of map for iGo.
I also prefer Garmin, with iGo as my second favorite. The only reason I don't use iGo is because I don't like its routing when compared to Garmin.
iGo is pretty solid, I like it over TomTom and Garmin
Hi, i buy the new Topaz. Now i installed many navi-soft, TomTom, Copilot and Sygix. But the navigation lags and the diplays scrolls and moves slowly. Also the navigation run 10-20 Meters "after". The next action calls to late. No POIS activatedandthe system is clean.
On my Mda 4 Compact with 400 Mhz the navigation was very smooth and godly.
Could anybody help plz.
Try to disable A-GPS( assisted GPS) with Advanced Config or HD Tweak but keep in mind the following:
-TomTom is not officially supported for Diamond2, so if you made it work with the tricks found in xda, that's the best we can have now.
-I'm also using Navigon Igo8, and it is working the same as Tomtom (good enough for me), but also Igo8 had to be "arranged" to work on D2.
I think we have to wait for more updated and specific navigators for D2 to get smoother screens.
-Even though I am not experiencing the lag you talked about (10-20m), It could be quite normal, civil GPS system is intentionally not accurate to 1m!
TT7, MN7 and iGO are running (more or less) acceptable for me but I'm not satisfied with the GPS lag (many others report that, too). The GPS position was much more accurate with the Kaiser I previously was using: TomTom and Navigon 7 no lag and a noticable lag with iGO (this is what many others using TMC with iGO report about as well).
WHY NOT TRY TO CHANGE YOUR PHONE CACHE SIZE FIRST ......FROM 8192 TO 32768.
USE REGISTRY HACK UNDER hklm/system/gdi

yes of course, thanks, corrected
igo8 runs pretty slow too,
on my polaris it runs faster but difference in cpu speed is much smaller than difference in pixels it has to work...
I used Tomtom (5,6 & 7) and Igo in Artemis,Kaiser and Topaz, they run everywhere the same way, except that now I have a larger portion of the map (as we use VGA version). I think that RAM&CPU are not important at this point, we only need to wait for OFFICIAL versions for our device, if there will ever be
Look at this post
It works great

I use TomTom because I own a TomTom PNA. So I get along with the mobile TomTom navigation best (did try several Navigation Software) - even I find the menu structure a bit pitty. iGo 8 has the best menu structure for me but I hate the "In 24,514884m and 51174 picometer please turn right!
Igo8 is the best for me with the kikker skin

huh? does it really says that ? i have never a bug or a mistake on my igo8
Imo Navigon MN7 is the best choice for Europe. It's quite cheap, works awesome in every point and it's fast (tried a route from Barcelona to Helsinki which is almost 2600 km air line, needed 3 seconds to calculate it; when you see a traffic jam in front of you, you just click "avoid this part of the route" and it gives you the bypass immediately), and there are map updates 4 times per year - NEVER had ANY problem with it. iGo 8 is similar - it's also brilliant but it's much more expensive - costs about MN7 twice.
Copilot 8 , 100 % compatible with HD2 .
Plus +1 CoPilot 8. I was VERY skeptical, but its works admirably - even though its redundant since my GS has onboard Nav anyway..
iGo8
Works perfect as is!
Tried others and simply they do not cut it for me. Keep it simple and it works.
Awsome!
iGo for me as well; I love the way it shows you the signpostings and the whole interface. And the fact it filters when you're typing a road name.
iGO8 forever
this is the best sw navigation for me
i use version with themechanger, gfx, tmc and other in my HD2

How can i purchase Igo8? Do you have to order a cd or can you download it? Thanks.
Hi group,
my good old navi device died today and i would like a software solution for my good old Leo.
I had a Route 66, which crashed every two minutes. Anyhow it showed extremely bad maps with almost no useful information.
I am looking for something working well on the LEO.
I don't care for 3D views, what i need is good 2D with as many roads names as possible.
Who could give me an info about a good navi software?
RIN67630
navigon is working very fast, tomtom also.
Garmin a little bit slower and igo harder to configure.
For me, the best is Tomtom Navigator 7
NDrive, IGO and Sygic
For Me:
1- NDrive --> Best for everything
2- IGO --> Quick.
3- Sygic --> Clear, Fast and not complicated
TomTom 7.918 , works well for me on HD2, easy to have & switch many maps, one of the few to have selection of european & asian maps I need.

I've got to see iGO8
The current street numbers left and right are super!
Found it nice, but it could display better the street names, which do not bend around the curves and frequently do not display at all, for no apparent reason.
Which one is better? I do need very good 2d maps.
Thanks

here you go
I suggest "Mapfactor Navigator FREE" from here: http://navigatorfree.mapfactor.com/de/
It is absolutely free - both software and maps (worldwide!!), because the maps are OpenStreetMap-data (OSM) as actual as the maps will generated by OSM.
It works even fast as TomTom and has a 3D-View ...
For me, the best navigation software is iGO Primo 2.0.
And with the skin Sbertaud13, it is perfect
For me the best navigation app is Ndrive.
Works like a charm with HD2.
hi,i know everything about igo 8 if you need something.... i think that igo is the best
You could put Google Maps on your HD2 which is free for navigation.
Maps get downloaded as you go so are always up to date.
iran maps don't has for Tom Tom or igo
hi guys
Tom Tom and igo very good software navigation but all world map don't has for example Iran map i can't find for igo and Tom Tom .
and this is very bad
i normally uses google map and sygic from time to time, but sygic always expires and want user to buy it, so i just stick with google maps.
