I am pretty confused since i see alot of different manuals/ howto's on this madder...
Thx upfront for your info/help...
Hi there,
Maybe you would like to try these few steps. (Must have ActiveSync installed)
1. Search in this forum for roms (WM 6.0, WM 6.1, WM 6.5)
2. Download SOFTSPL (search in this forum)
3. Extract the files and put it to root of your phone (next to windows folder)
4. Run SPL.ink from your prophet (Using File Explorer)
5. Screen should turn white
6. Extract the files from the ROM package you downloaded at Step 1.
7. Run ROM update file.
8. Once done, phone will reboot and viola ~
9. A new OS is running in your prophet

How do you change the Telstra System of my xda mini to an O2 system?
When I do a soft or hard reset a Telstra logo appears on the screen.
Would there ba a problem with this? I this even possible?
Sorry NEWBIE asking sirs!
The splash screen is changed easily to anything you like, just follow the sticky on the board. Changing your mini to O2 requires the O2 ext-rom files to 'brand' it. Visit the ftp ftp:\\xda:[email protected] for the ext-rom files. Best is to skip your current ext-rom (hard-reset, finish the initialization & just after the last tap on the screen you soft-reset quickly) & then install the O2 cab-files. Other possibility is to flash your rom. Visit the wiki (link on top of the page & goto magician & then exe upgrade) for this & get an O2 shipped-rom from the ftp (or anywhere else on the web).
Cheers, M
Ps I'd go for only the cab-files first. Flashing can be done later when you're more accustomed to your device.

Click to collapse
Thank you!
How do I install the CAB file?
Which CAB File(O2 version) in the Magician folder is best?
Best? I don't know but watch out, there's a lot of Asian stuff in it. Usually the highest number is the most recent version & preferred.
Just put the cab-files on your device, preferable the SD card via Act.sync or card reaser, then start the file explorer on your device. Navigate to the location you stored them & click on them to install. Might be that you want to install CabInstl first, then you can choose where the apps from the cab's are installed.

I made the big mistake of updating my Charmer with the latest update from T-Mobile. Where can I get the previous rom as the new one is terrible.
Any help welcome
I've uploaded the previous copy into the FTP You can get it from the ftp
You will need aWizard to flash it. I won't recommend you doing that unless you are familiar with aWizard.
I have downloaded aWizard - could you give me a step by step guide on how to flash my rom - The rom I downloaded contains many files - can you tell me where in awizard each of these goes?
I won't recommend you to do it when you are not very sure what you are doing.
Ok, you should have a 'ROM' folder under your aWizard folder. (e.g. c:\aWizard\ROM)
create a folder under this 'ROM' folder named `mda_compact2` (exactly)
(e.g. c:\aWizard\ROM\mda_compact2)
extract everything into this new folder, so, among other files, you have
(e.g. c:\aWizard\ROM\mda_compact2\mda_compact2-HTCLogo.nba)
and a folder
(e.g. c:\aWizard\ROM\mda_compact2\mda_compact2-ExtROM\)
where you have bunch of CAB files there.
go to command line, start aWizard.bat
(1) first, do a unlock CID (option u)
(2) then Enable RAPI (option e)
(3) then use the (w) to write the OS ROM into your device
after step (3), you should have a choice to select the ROM that you already put into. Follow the screen instructions from here.
NOTE: If you can't see any choices after step (3). Quit and check your folders again.
This is an early version of aWizard I'm refering to. Refer to the thread for any updates. Better read through the thread before doing so (yes, it is a long read, better a long read and a long wait if you kill your phone)
This is the original UK shipped Orange ROM.
It includes OS(2.10.1.22), HTC Logo and Splash Logo + a copy of the ExtROM folder.
It does NOT include Radio, IPL, SPL.
INSTALLATION
Intallation is a two stage process. First install the OS ROM, then unlock ExtROM and Copy ExtROM folder contents, then Hard Reset again.
BACKUP FIRST: All data will be erased.
1. INSTALL OS ROM
Extract all the files in the attached archive, connect phone to USB.
Run ROMUpdateUtility_NoID.exe and follow the instructions.
When the update is complete run through the initial setup but reset after the Extended ROM cusomisation has started.
2. INSTALL ExtROM
Unlock the Extended Rom (plenty of tools on this site for that).
Using Activesync (guest mode is fine) copy the contents of the ExtROM folder (from the archive) to the ExtROM on device.
Perform a hard reset (hold Camera and Comm Manager buttons and reset)
You now have an Orange ROM running on your phone.
I am not an expert on this so please don't ask me for support, if you are in the position where you have an M600 phone with a non orange ROM, you probably know as much as me
If any of the experts out there know how to create the .nb file for the ExtROM from the folder please let me know.
Good Luck
The archive is on the ftp server @
ftp://ftp.xda-developers.com/Prophet/Prophet-roms/Original-Shipped-ROMs/OrangeUK/
(not sure if thats the right place or not, but it seemed reasonable)
Can somebody help me please!!??

Ok,
So I got the Universal yesterday and spent all day trying to get BBConnect to run on it and after searching for days and days I was able to piece things together to get it to work. So here are the links to the tools I used and as far as I can recall the steps I took.
ROM: DFT WM6.1 19174
http://www.darkforcesteam.com/showthread.php?t=133
HTC64 Tools (to convert the nbf to a fat file)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=25416&d=1133971744
HEX Editor
http://www.rs.e-technik.tu-darmstadt.de/applets/frhed-v1.1.zip
BBConnect software
http://rapidshare.com/files/45075798/BBConnect_WM6_Professional_BB_4.0.0.90.exe.html
HTC NetworkWizard cab file
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=80495&d=1207858578
Ok so here is what I did
Right click the ROM file "DFT.U.V1.WWE.rar" and extract this will put the files in a folder "Outputfile" containing the following files:
EnterBL.exe
GetDeviceData.exe
ROMUpgradeUt.exe
RUU.dll
UI.dll
nk.nbf
Next extract the HTC64 Tools folder this will allow you to launch:
HTC64 Extended ROM Tool.exe
Double click it and choose decode
point to the nbf file and choose extract
This will creat the following files in the "OutputFile" folder:
nk.fat
nk.prj
Now install the hex editor and launch it, then click Open to open the "fat" file
along the top of the address bar is a set of binoculars click on that type "HTC" and check the Unicode box change the letters Univer to Hermes the remaining letters sal change to ...
save the file
Use HTC64 tools and encode the file, then update your universal
Run the network wizard cab file, reboot, configure for your provider
Install the registry editor and go to the following location
HKLM/System/Version/AKU change it to .0.3.1 (yes that is a . at the begining)
Reboot
Ok now your ready to install BBConnect
I was able to connect and have been connected for about 5 hours now.
i was actually trying this out a couple days back with Tomal (Ranju) latest rom.
i got the client to startup but couldn't connect.
figured it's a problem with my account, which i gotta check with the network provider.
but can you explain why you had to edit the ROM to change the Universal to Hermes.. and the AKU version to 0.3.1?
does the BBConnect software check for these and refuse to work if they're not matching?
I read on a post that it had to do with the model of device that was sent to authenticate with the BB servers, the ROM edit from the information I gathered sends the device type as a HTC-Hermes which is an authorized BBConnect device.......
What's the chance of getting the BB connect software running on Tomal's 7.6 ROM by performing the same search-and-replace as you did? Or does it have to be the ROM you used?
