WMWIFIROUTER just ruined my wifi and activesync... - General Topics

Against my better judgement, I installed wmwifirouter because I was curious about it vs pdanet.
Bad move.
I installed it on my HTC Ozone and tried to connect via wifi to my PC. It installed "RSID internet sharing device drivers" on my laptop, but on the phone it got stuck on "searching" and couldn't connect.
So naturally, I uninstalled it. Bad move #2. Now, not only does the wifi on my phone not work (It thinks its connected but I get dns errors no matter what webpage I go to), but my phone will NOT connect to my pc via activesync no matter what I do.
I even tried deleting the "RSID internet sharing device" from device manager, but still no go.
Thanks a lot, wmifirouter. Any ideas on how to fix it?

Don´t blame wmifirouter
Remember not all apps are made to all devices, and the only way to find out is experimenting, that hapens all the time here.
Try with a hard reset.
Good luck,

Works great for me.
BEST app to share the i-net.
Especially since it masks sharing to the ISP unlike other sharing options.

how could I use my wizard as a modem over GPRS for my Macbook pro?

I just went into Mac world and got my first mac laptop two weeks ago.
My wizard had already been upgraded to WM6.
In PC world, it's quite simple to use it as a modem over GPRS. Just turn on internet sharing.
How can I make it happen for Macbook pro?
Thanks.
if you still have you cd that came with your phone there should be a driver/how to on it for wm5 tethering.
wm6 pretty much your right just turn on internet sharing first then connect to GPRS and then plug it into you mac.
im sorry its off the top of my head but im sure that's it. im not at home at the moment. I don't think there is anything else to it. if I left anything out please someone correct me.
try that for now. good luck.
I was not around for a couple of days.
Thanks mdajunkie. Unfortunatelly I did try this way without success. Is there anybody with same problem like me?
Maybe this will help:
http://www.annoyances.org/exec/show/ics_other
While its for setting up a Mac / Linux / Other as a client to an XP box doing ICS, it should be the same with your phone being the ICS server (I think).
I just stepped into the Mac world myself with a 15" MBP myself and I love it!
Using Bluetooth, it is VERY easy.
Turn Phone and MBP Bluetooth on, pair the device if you have not done so using "Set up Bluetooth Device".
Make sure your phone is connected to the internet. Load IE or Messaging and make sure it's connected. Then you can quit that program.
Load Internet Sharing on the phone.
PC Connection should be Bluetooth PAN.
Network Connection should be Cingular GPRS (Or similar)
Then hit Connect on the bottom left of the screen.
Now on the Mac, click the Bluetooth Icon in the top right of the screen and choose Join Network On ... (Phones name)
Thats it, you will now be using the phones internet.
Thank you all!
It works for BT! I have read same article.
here: http://weblog.techdad.net/2007/05/1...sharing-from-windows-mobile-6-to-mac-os-1049/
But I still failed in connecting with USB cable. Anyway, BT works.
Thanks again.

Help with internet since flashing

Hi all,
I try not to post too often, and just do a lot of reading and studying and learning.
Anyway, I am running MrFrazz's WM6aR2, and having an issue with active sync and my laptop. Everytime I try to connect to any wireless internet while active sync is running, I lose the connection and can not recover it. It runs fine if I have not hooked up the phone. Once I connect, thats it, and I have to reboot the computer to get it back. I just reflashed some other ROM's on my phone playing around, and did not like them, so I went back. Now it is doing this. Anyone out there think they canhelp me figure this one out?
On your computer go to the activesync app, click on file and then on connection settings and then check the box that says allow wireless connection on device when connected to the desktop.
It still does it even then. I have tried adjusting all of the setting. I am pretty computer competant, and dabble in programming, but this one has me stumped. Anything else I may be missing??
I think I miss read what your actual problem is. Is your phone losing it's wireless connection or is your laptop losing it? If your laptops the one that's losing its wireless connection then it sounds like it's having problem running 2 connections at once. This is just a shot in the dark and probably won't help at all, but try making your connection to you phone a static connection and leave your wifi connection dynamic or vice versa and see if that helps. If not, maybe deleting both of the connections and letting your laptop reinstall the connections might help. Like I said, both suggestions are just a shot in the dark, but there shouldn't be any reason that it wouldn't use both connections at the same time that I can think of unless it's trying to assign the same ip address to both connections but they shouldn't even be in the same range.

[Resolved] Access internet for PC via PDA's WiFi

Good Afternoon all. I have searched for days, not only this site, but many others, and as of yet, no appropriate solution. Hopefully someone more versed than me with the Wizard might help. I have also posted this in the Wizard area, but since this should be possible on all HTC's with WiFi, maybe a more diverse audience here in General discussion.
Here is the scenario....I am able to connect my HTC Wizard to the WiFi of my roommates router. He is connected to DSL 3.5 Mbps. On the Wizard I can surf the internet, no problem. I have a computer in my room, but it does not have a wifi card. I am wanting to use my Wizard to connect my computer to the internet via USB, using the connection (WiFi) that exists on my Wizard. h
So far, I can connect to my computer through active sync and browse the files on my Wizard. I also am able to tether my Wizard to my computer via Internet Sharing on my EDGE connection. I do notice when I connect my Wizard that is connected to WiFi it shows a LAN connection in the taskbar at bottom right, however, when i try to navigate to any web page in internet explorer, google chrome, or firefox, it comes up with the error like I am not connected.
I know there is a simple fix for this, but I am frustrated and tired of searching to no avail. Thanks in advance many times over.

Hope that helps,
both WMWifiRouter and ICS Control can do what you want.
Thanks Orb and Chainfire. Awesome, for such a quick reply. I worked a 16 hour shift today, so my brain is a little tired. I will peruse these tommorrow and post results. Again, thanks so much.
Thanks again to both of you. I like the more "out-of-the-box ready" approach of the WMWifiRouter. I had come across your program in my searches, chainfire, but I thought it was only available through use through bluetooth connections, I was unaware that it would work connecting through usb.
So needless to say, I am up and running. After going through all the configurations, I connected my wizard up through the usb cable to my comp and Voila!... internet service. No special .dll's needed, no tweaking, it just works, and that's great.
Thanks again, and have a wonderful day.

HTC CM Wifi Internet Sharing - doesn't work?

Hi,
Now that I've unlocked my TG01, I was hoping to use my data SIM in it and convert it to a MiFi, one of those portable WiFi access points.
I have tried HTC CM Wifi Internet Sharing which installs fine on the phone. It also seems to run and looks like it has set up an ad-hoc network.
However, there are a few problems:
The WiFi does not automatically turn on when you launch the program.
None of my WiFi enabled devices (PCs, phones, internet tablets) can 'see' the WiFi access point.
I'm just wondering whether this is because the program isn't really working, or has something to do with my other devices.
Anyone have success with this program?

on my TG01 work fine! i have in all my cooked ROM´s this suite
AL_CommManager_Suite_with_WifiSharing_1_1.cab
you can test my ROM or install this cab. to work on TG01 you need this Reg change
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\CommManager\WLAN]
"DeviceName"="{98C5250D-C29A-4985-AE5F-AFE5367E5006}\\AR6K_SD1"

Miro im using your ROM release but for the life of me cant get the wifi sharing to work, well it works and it doesnt. I can see the connection on my laptop and i've managed to connect only the internet doesnt work and it says 'identifying ... no internet access' ? This is under Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. Any ideas ?
i´m now in this moment take wifi router from my TG01 to connect the internet with my Win7 32bit Laptop. i think the problem is not TG01- the Problem is you network/firewall settings
best internet sharing you have in marketplace for free, work veary good. sorry for my bad eanglish
I've only just got the htc wifi sharing app to work properly, but if you ask me its not so great. The reason why i struggled so much to get it to work in the past is that you have to keep resetting your data conection until suddenly it works ? Even then i find it goes off every 10 mins so your constantly turning your data connection on and off which isnt very convenient. I suppose its nice to be able to set up wifi as a hotspot but for me i just cant use it ...
Instead i've started using the usb method with the windows internet sharing app, this never resets and is a proper solid and stable connection. I've even bridged it to the ps3 and managed to play online games with it. The only issue of course is the NAT type, for any sort of gaming to work you need port forwarding at the very least and since were only getting nat type 3 theres quite a few issues.
I have found a nice app called ICS Control which claims to be able to manage ports, etc but i havent quite figured out how it works. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=377047 Any ideas ?

i already used that reg tweak on the comm manager from your ROM thanks anyway. the phone switch, bluetooth, or WiFi switch do nothing.g when i press them. so idecided to install another comm mnager (htc) it works but i cannot use the WiFi router function :/
Thanks anyway!
Not sure why the wifi comm manager isnt working for you but id recommend trying miro's rom, the one which allows you to switch between sense, spb, and windows default. This is the only rom i've managed to get wifi sharing working on so id really recommend you try miro's rom .
On another subject, i was wondering if anyone knows of a way to share my tg01's internet connection to the pc but give it a static ip address. The problem with sharing without a static ip is certain sites recognise your ip has changed and log you out. Lets say i've wrote a huge message on and my ip changes, i click submit and that message is lost for good ! Its getting quite annoying since this constantly happens on ebay and pretty much any site that requires a log in, i've had to start copying and pasting my text just in case.

"Wireless Tether for Root Users" app won't stay connected

Does anyone else have this problem?
My laptop will stay connected for a maybe a minute at a time, sometimes just a few seconds and I have to reconnect. Under Wireless Network Connection, the network is listed as "On Demand", if that helps.
I've tried every version of "Wireless Tether for Root Users" I can find and they all have the same problem. Is there anyway to stay connected?
Is it possible that your computer won't let you connect to an Ad-hoc connection? Maybe as soon as it realizes what it's connecting to it jumps off?
Havent had a problem, are you using the administration portion of wireless thether, you might have to just confirm the connection on the phone and apply the settings, you should have a green sheild when on your phone when a allowed device is connected
As far as I know ad hoc networks are allowed, I am using windows xp.
I have access control on and my laptop is allowed and connects fine, it just will not stay connected.
I am using a Toshiba nb205 netbook with windows xp.
On the Choose a Wireless Network window, next to G1Tether it says "On Demand" instead of Manual or Automatic. I've never seen that before.
I'm using the internet fine, I just have to reconnect every 30 seconds or so. Perhaps my google skills are too weak, but I cannot find anything, any help is very much appreciated.
Can you connect to a wifi network from the phone and stay connected?
Can you connect to a wifi network from the laptop and stay conencted?
"On Demand" is normal for Ad-Hoc Networks.
I had the same problem after upgrading from fresh 1.0 to 1.1 w/ gk-31. I uninstalled wireless tether and reinstalled it from my mybackup pro app backup (the one I made before flashing the new Rom and kernel. Works just fine now.
If I'm not mistaken I believe flipz included a newer version of wireless tether, maybe the old one works better.
I just realized I assumed you are using freshrom...
Might try reinstalling it anyways, let us know how it works out.
Reinstalling didn't work. I'll try out some roms tonight and see if they work any better, thanks anyways
Old post I know, but just wanted to see if anyone had any more ideas here. I don't think it's an android app issue at all, but rather windows. I'll be cruising along the highway with a fine connection, but as soon as windows picks up a random access point, it will jump off my ad-hoc connection and try to connect to the other one. not cool.
