I have SPL 2.21 and can't flash to WM6

Hello everyone,
I'm totally lost in this WM6 upgrade.
I've tried everything but i wont get my MDA Vario to flash with WM6.
My MDA Vario is unlocked (sim and CID) but i can't flash it because of my SPL 2.21????
This is what i have done:
installed button's 1.05 ROM
Download & installed lokiwiz - HTC Wizard Unlocker UPDATE Version 0.2b.
But stil my SPL is at 2.21.
Can someone please help me out here??

Both your IPL and your SPL must be 2.xx and higher. After you flashed to Buttons rom. did you reflash to a higher version after after you unlocked and cid unlocked your phone to make sure both IPL and SPL were 2.xx or higher?

I've followed the tutorial:
16. Watch the rebooting of your PDA, if BOTH IPL and SPL are 1.xx then great. Quite probably your IPL will be 1.xx and your SPL will be 2.xx. Rerun the button 1.05 ROM downgrade a second time and it will become 1.x on both IPL and SPL. You don't need to redo the unlocking.
17. My suggestion, take for what it's worth, is to download and install the T-Mobile 2.26 ROM
This will give you a strong 2.26 IPL and SPL to work with.
My IPL was 1.XX after the 1.05 downgrade, but my SPL was still 2.21 even after the rerun.
I have tried to instal T-Mobile 2.26 rom, but it gave an error.

check if you have G3 or G4 unit

I have a 3G device.

I think that you haven't unlocked the phone properly. Read Dr. P's tutorial about unlocking G3 phones.

if your ipl is 1.05 and your spl is still 2.21...then you need to reflash again so that both ipl and spl are 1.05 before you can proceed. ipl and spl should never be different.

WHen you downgrade to the Button rom, in most cases the IPL will change, but the SPL will not. You then have to downgrade again to get the SPL to get to 1.xx . There have been some cases reported where it takes reflahsing the button rom many times (like 8 times or somesuch) before the SPL will finally come down, but you have to complete this step or you will not be CID Unlocked.
Make sure you have your SD card out when you are flashing as this can cause problems.
Good luck, and sorry, but for those that have run into the stuck SPL there hasn't been a real solution other than keep flashing the button rom until it drops down to 1.xx. After that then the CID unlock will be complete and you can then flash the T-Mobile 2.26 rom (or whatever other 2.xx rom you want).

The Dr. P tutorial specifically says this (just not in those words). It tells you (after the last lokiwiz) to watch your screen and that you most likely will still have an SPL of 2.xx and will need to reflash (most people just don't read this and try to move on). The part of about having to reflash numerous times is new though. I've only heard of it a few times, but if you look at the posts from a month or so agao in the Dr P thread on unlocking you'll see where a few people ran into it and it took numerous flashes to finally get SPL to go to 1.xx.

before wm6 roms, every time there was a new rom for wm5 (molski or faria) you'd always get people in the thread mentioning that their ipl and spl are different. in those threads, the advice has always been to reflash a few extra times too. (I personally haven't had any problems with this...but i think i started my unlocking on a 1.8 us t-mobile rom with xelencin's rom...which had an unlocker built into the rom update package).
anyway, the phone's not bricked or anything, so you just have to keep flashing to get it working...

I've re-flashed 3 times but if i understand correct, than i have to retry flashing until SPL and IPL are the same?

yes. ipl and spl should both drop to 1.05. at that point you can go through the unlock and flash back up.

T-mobile MDA downgrade Ipl/Spl & WM6 Upgrade Issue

I followed Dr. Puttingham's thread and Yippie's thread to a tee in addition to reading threads in this forum for a good number of hours each day for two weeks. Yesterday, I became brave enough to downgrade my 2.26 Ipl / 2.26 spl; GSM 2.25.11; OS 2.26.10.2 MDA with a goal to upgrade to a custom WM6 rom with touchflo.
* Started with flashing the button rom then cid unlock with lockwiz2b which looked successful no errors but got a 1.xx IPL / 2.26 SPL since I got a 2.26 SPL then
* flashed the wizard love rom then then cid unlock with lockwiz2b which looked successful also but got the same results - a1.xx IPL / 2.26 SPL again then
* flashed the 2.26 T-mobile rom from the Tmobile website then
* flashed NBD 8.3 only to go back to Tmobile's 2.26 rom - DISAPPOINTED after two hours...............
Any assistance would be appreciated without bricking my MDA. Also, I read the thread on how to install a 2.x rom in a cid locked G3, this method appears a little bid complicated and if I need to move forward with this method, would this method work for any WM6 rom with touchflo and if somebody could simplify the method in layman's terms for newbie's like me could understand, please advice.

After u do cid unluck and sim unluck and its reboots do a downgrade again to the button rom and ur ipl and spl will change.(u do not have to re-due the onlucking procedure again)

I tried again performing Dr. Puttingham's CID unlocking process in terms of flashing the button rom then the CID unlock process using Lokowiz2b but while I am at the DOS screen trying to CID unlock my MDA it the DOS screen showed unlocking phone........DO NOT DISCONNECT UNTIL THE PHONE REBBOTS.
This process went on for 5 then 10 then past 30 minutes until I gave up. To be on the safe side I turned off the LAPTOP by taking the battery then pulled the USB cable from the PC to the MDA.
What is the typical timeframe for the unit to CID unlock? Why is is it hanging? Am I missing or skipping the process? How can I complete the process?
Any help would ber greatly appreciated by newbies who read threads.

The problem is that you need to have an IPL/SPL of 1.xx before you try to unlock your phone. CID unlocking will not change your SPL which means that you had an IPL of 1.xx and an SPL of 2.26 before you even tried to unlock. You need to reflash the button ROM over and over until your IPL and SPL both show 1.xx and then run lokiwiz.

dont get your point, i have been using shelltool for ages without any problems and quite a lot custom roms. my SLP/IPL is 3.08.

if your device doesn't reboot almost at once after the unlock, it probably didn't work. That is what happened to me. Did you get four lines of File cannot be opened or a similar message? I got that from following the 17 steps carefully. What was wrong for me was unzipping to the root directory of C:/. When I redid it to the desktop and executed from there, no problemo.
Your symptoms sound exactly like mine. I posted a longer thread, somewhere....

Ok i did a little booboo and yesterday was using equinoxe's softspl tool by mistake (didn't notice i had a g3), this causes you to actually end up with the exact same os you had before you flashed.
The best advice I can give: Open the Dr's guide and follow every step closely. (also just found this guide. Its a bit simpler http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=305225)
Once you CID unlock you should be able to use the RUUs to flash.
Make sure everytime you do any of the steps that dr. putt gives to be comepletely synced to activesync.
Also dont forget to load enablerapi.cab on your wizard.
Also you must use the unlock function before the cid unlock function in lokiwiz.
OH also the unlock will work after your ipl drops to 1.xx After you do the unlocks reflash button to drop the spl to 1.xx Then just flash up to a higher IPL/SPL as the Dr states.

Umm I believe the IPL/SPL of 3.08 means your phone is unlocked... so you really shouldnt need to use shell tool. Some correct me if I'm wrong

Just cause you have 3.08 does not mean you are unlocked..you could have upgraded a 2.xx ipl/spl without having downgraded and unlocked first.

right, i installed the latest german t-mobile rom and my device is still locked. the point i made is why the hell does somebody want to downgrade? It doesnt matter if u use the shelltool.

Perhaps they want it actually cid unlocked for resale value...or perhaps they prefer the RUU method of installs vs having to use shelltool.

Prophet device shows wrong IPL?

Hey there
I have just gotten a cheap Prophet, because the former owner thought it was broken.. When i start it up i get the Tree coloured screen.. So i have tried flashing No vendor rom to it but after that i still get the tree coloured screen.. It shows the following numbers
IPL 2.09
SPL 2.20
As far as i know that IPL is not right.. Does anybody know where i can get a RUU that updates the IPL? Thanks!

Hehe just found out why it started up in tree coloured screen everytime i turned it on.. The Camera button was stuck..
But still i would like to update the IPL if its possible ? I Think its a G3 device as it says that the SPL is 2.20.0000 and ipl is 2.09

What is the IPL anyway? And what does the update do? I mean does it make any diffence in use, that i go from version 2.09 to 2.20 ?

IPL - Initial Program Loader: Its the bootloader for PPC. It boots up SPL.
SPL - Secondary Program Loader: Loads the actual OS.

HardSPL doesn't seem to update SPL version

Hi I have a G4 Prophet and the IPL and SPL version number reads 2.10.0001.
I would like to flash it to use a WM6.1 ROM with the touchflo type functionality and new IE Mobile features (i.e. zooming).
I have read through all the guides about carrying this out and have even started having a go but am getting confused about HardSPL.
From what I read HardSPL CID Unlocks your phone so that you can install a diffeerent Carrier (e.g. Orange, Vodaphone) ROM ... or in fact a home 'cooked' ROM off of this site.
I have tried manually carrying out the HardSPL using both the Prophet Tools GUI and the command line batch file HardSPL however after the procedure finishes my IPL and SPL do not read differently as all posts indicate (i.e. they do not read 2.G4.4PDA) ... instead they remain as 2.10.0001.
I have seen the phone go to the tri-colour bootloader screen and even the progress bar go up correctly however when it reboots it says 2.10.0001. I'm assuming that I cannot go ahead and flash with a ROM (such as the Shadow TE one until the SPL reads 2.G4.4PDA).
Can anyone offere me some help with getting to this?

I would recommend you use something like: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=353547 It makes it a one stop upgrade... That uses "JumpSPL" rather than HardSPL which is the short term option.

Thanks for the help I tried the alternative lazy tool and it worked (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2141436&postcount=188) now my Orange SPV M600 has the Shadow Touch edition rom on it with the shadow cube addon, so far works a treat.
I would still be interested to know why the SPL version number did not change using the prophet tools or HardSPL on its own.

What is your devices IPL?
It may be because Soft/Jump SPL was not executed properly prior to HardSPL (this is automated through the HardSPL tools and Prophet Tools).

i ran upgrade_hardspl_g4 on my prophet, my spl is 2.15 still... what should i do l3v5y? tried flashing it 5 times still no luck. Please help, having a hard time upgrading roms...
ipl: 2.20
spl: 2.15
im currently downloading prophet tools 2.8. i currently flashed my 818 with PV_temp rom. i'll try to install the prophet tools and hardspl my phone with it.. hope it works...will update in a few after the installation is done... downloading so slow... =(

black screen after KaiserUnlocker without HardSpl

I've a quite big problem that occured form my stupidy.
I wanted to unlock the phon and get rid of simlock.
I've read the wiki and start playing with kaiser. I forgot to run the HardSpl and go just to KaiserUnlocker. First step was ok 100% reboot, second step - 100% rebot splashscreen 1, splashscreen 2 without sound and after that black screen.
AS is not turning green, screen is black, buttons doesn't work.
I've done HR and after that i fought it's ok there was a splashscreen with windows mobile, algin the screen, time etc. and after that the OS is automatically upgraded by some files from AT&T. After upgrade there is splash 1 with AT&T logo splash 2 with another AT&T logo and nothing more - black screen again.
Before my playing time I had WM 6.0 Prof from AT&T, R 1.27.12.11
Now when I'm entering the bootloader I've
on the top "Security Unlocked"
on red stripe KAIS1*0 MFG
SPL-1.0.OliPof
CPLD-8
What can I do now?

Run the ATT updater from HERE it "SHOULD" Put you back to stock. Then run the hard SPL and try unlocker again. I have found that I needed to upgrade to 6.1 before the unlocker would work. Hope this helps

Hold the camera button when you turn it on. That will take you into bootloader. I am not sure if this will help for sure but it is worth a shot

Yes it is the att 6.1 update stock rom.

Or use SD card method. But you need to read WiKi for that...

Best will be to "update" to 6.0, flash HardSPL 1.0 from Olipof, flash older HTC ROM (by HTC, not ATT) repacked (with OS only, no radio or SPL) and then unlock, because newer AT&T 6.0 ROM doesn't work with the radio from SIM unlocker.

I can try every on of them but from recent 'trying' I have only problems now

Phone is unlocked but I've another problem after putting the sim card the phone runs fine for few seconds and then it stops, the vibrations is on all the time and camera isn't working at all and there is no sound (black screen).
Is it one more time OS?
I've instaled WM 6.1 AT&T

Ok now that you have a hard spl install What radio and spl do you have? The radio is your camera prob. I would pick a custom rom and flash it with the prefered set and see how that goes.

So, with the first rom - WM6.0 it showed 1.27.12.11 then I flashed device and it was 1.70.olinex, another flash the WM6.1 and it was 1.65.21.18 and now after hardspl it is showing again 1.70.olinex
It's from the splash1 with the R in front, am I correct ?

One question more I've a problem with signal I don't loos it but it's weak - one or two lines in the middle of city. I switched to HTC original OS WM6.1 radio is 1.65.16.25. Should I switch the radio ?? If yes which one will be the best ?

The right radio is such a subjective combination of variables, that no one call tell you which is the best for you. Just go to the Ultimate Radio thread and try a bunch of 6.1 compatible radios until you find on to stick with.
Start with the radio that is recommended for the rom that you are using and then try radios that are in other peoples signatures.
