Connectivity Issue - Touch Pro, Fuze General

So I was playing with my phone today and i started getting a "cannot connect" message.
Message is as follows:
Dialed: isp.cingular
Cannot connect for an unknown reaso. To check you connection settings and change them if needed, tap Settings. If problem continues, reset your mobile device according to your manufacturer's documentation and try again
Now - I haven't changed any server/host/proxy information. I setup the wep key for my offices wireless network but haven't really changed anything else. 3g internet appears to work but I get this message when I use things like the google maps app.. Any thoughts or links??
-Keith

anyone...?

Alright.. did a hard reset and that fixed it..

Wifi setup problem with 8125

HI all,
first of all i want to thankyou all for this awsome site and keeping the good work going.
I need some help with wifi setup.
I tried to setup my wifi with my 8125 using wifi companion and wifi fofum and both detected my network and connected to it successfully however, when i try to connect to the net using internet explorer a msg pops up saying that "cannot connect" Dialed +some number and then it says No modem at above number. To check connections settings change them if needed. I upgraded my rom to the latest one from cingular how ever i never entered this number which it is showing. Can some one help me with this issue and tell me what should i do.
thanks in advance.
Ps:- I tried wifi companion and wifi fofum separately not together.
thanks.
sounds like internet explorer is trying to connect to gprs or cellular modem or somthing.
you need to go to settings, connections, advanced, select networks, and make sure the drop down lists are set to "My Work Network"
Also check under setting, wireless lan, powermode and move the slider all the way to the left for best performance. I cannot connect to any routers when it is in the middle (the default setting). I have no problems connecting anywhere with it set to best performance.

Frustrated!! Pocket Internet Explorer doesn't work when cradled

I have a Cingular 8525 with WM5, using the lastest version of Activesync. I do not have wifi or 3g internet connection on my cell phone. Everything is synced and seems to be working fine but PIE doesn't work.
My Network management settings are:
Programs that automatically connect to the Internet should connect using: "My ISP"
Programs that automatically connect to a private network should connect using: "My ISP"
Under Connections it reads: My ISP, and for select a modem it says "Cellular Line"
How do I enable my phone to use pocket internet explorer when cradled? The reason is that my RSS reader cannot update because IE cannot connect.
Save me! I spent the last 4 hours trying to fix this problem.
Hi,
I had the same problem some time ago.
In ActiveSync\File\Connections I had to tick "This computer is connected to: The internet". Now it works.

Change "cellular line" to "cellular line GPRS" from the scroll down box.
The saga still continues to no avail...
i clicked "This computer is connected to the internet"
and also selected "Cellular line GPRS"
What do I enter for Access point name, username, password, etc.
This is getting really annoying.

Still nothing, when I right click and try to connect it says
"Cannot Connect

Is AT&T your carrier? When did all this begin happening? The settings I've given you are to be made directly on your device, and not from a PC. Try "auto pick" instead of ISP GPRS, and see if that helps.

One more thing to try: go to your connections settings, tap on advanced (at bottom) select MediaNet from scroll box, tap "proxy" the box that says it uses a proxy to connect should be unchecked (empty) The top box should be checked. You haven't done any internet connection tweaks in the registry have you?
0 internet registry tweaks, do you think you could link me to the cab that should be able to fix this for me?
Either way, and despite whether or not this gets fixed, thank you, thank you, for helping me.

Sorry man, I don't have the cabs for this fix. I remember reading about someone having the same problems and a cab fix was requested. Can't remember where I read about it. I recommend a forum or google search for the cab fix...I'm pretty sure you'll find what you need.
Ok here is the weird thing... I am running SPB mobile, and when I sync my weather is able to update for New York, NY. Doesn't that mean it must be getting an internet connection through PIE? DOes SPB mobile mess with the registry?
Anybody? Lately I've been using WiFi to update my phone but Id rather have it work when it is cradled.

Kaiser bluetooth mac internet settings

I have been playing with my new Kaiser(Tilt) since I got it earlier in the week. Rom is updated and everything is the way I like it. I would like to have my mac to connect to my Kaiser with bluetooth for internet access I just don't know what the AT&T setting are:
-telephone number
-account Name
-and password
I have looked all over and nothing I can find works. The Mac tells me
-A modem error occurred. Please verify your settings and try again.
What can I do to get this working? What setting are you using to make theis work for you?
You have to enable the Internet Sharing app. You can either find it in the Windows folder (IntShrUI), or you can do as I did and perform a hard reset but kill all the carrier customizations. By default, AT&T removes the program shortcut from your Programs folder. Here are some instructions, courtesy of the AT&T forums:
(1) From the Mac, initiate the pairing process with the phone. It will say the phone doesn't have any supported services, but then the last page of the Bluetooth wizard will say it supports a Personal Area Network.
(2) Open the "Internet Sharing" application on the phone.
(3) Change the method used to connect the computer from "USB" to "Bluetooth PAN".
(4) Click "Connect".
(5) On the Mac, click the Bluetooth menu on the Menu Bar and select "Join Network on [device]". (The Internet Sharing app on the phone should now say "Connected".)
Need more info
I got that part down, thanks. It's when it is trying to connect it imideatly disconects and tells me - A modem error occurred. Please verify your settings and try again. What are the settings on the mac side for
-telephone number
-account Name
-and password
Bluetooth PAN doesn't require those settings. It looks like what you're after is Bluetooth DUN. I believe you'll need to use the WModem app that's in the Connections tab. These should be the settings you're seeking:
Type [email protected] in the User name field.
Type CINGULAR1 in the Password field.
In the Dial field, type *99#.

3G internet problems on my TP

Greetings all!
I was wondering if anyone knows the solution to my problem.
When i try to access live messenger or the weather update on my TP through 3G i get the connection error. When using it through WiFi it updates in less than 5 seconds.
Anyone know of any prossible solutions?
Thanks in advance
I had the very same problem, but it actually disappeared after a weeks use.
I really didn't do anything to solve it.
I have the same problem with my TD2.
Same here, works when I first soft reset but say a hour or two later it does not connect it says cannot connect to wap.cingular.com try again at a later time.
If you are on AT&T your settings should be as such;
Go to Settings\Connections\Connections, click on "Advanced" and "Select Networks", in the drop down boxes, set both to MediaNet and "X" out of there.
Go back to the Tasks tab and select "Manage Existing Connections" then click "Proxy Settings". Make sure that "This network connects to the internet" is selected and "Uses a proxy" is unselected.
Also clear out any proxy servers already listed.
You should be all set.

FUZE, Internet Sharing, Vista, USB

any reason why the above should not work "out of the box". i have been tethering fine with my BJ1 but got my FUZE yesterday and it's not working. Says "waiting for network" then "remote party has ended this connection".
i did try installing the modem drivers from the CD, did not help.
what is the most common cause of ICS not working with vista over USB?
thanks in advance.
did you uncheck enable advanced network functionality? Its checked as defualt. Uncheck it and try again.
more ICS help needed

i tried that, still does not work.
in VISTA i briefly see the RNDIS network connection go to enabled but quickly goes to disabled when the handset says "remote party has ended..."
on the FUZE i have
Settings | Connections | Wireless Manager | Data Connection = On
and the only thing i changed during my trouble shooting is
Media Net | Select a Modem = Cellular Line (GPRS, 3G)
settings also have wap.cingular as it should, and don't know what the preset password is - i haven't touched it. should i use the password that i know worked on the BJ1?
also, in WiFi Settings, does the Remote NDIS network adapter settings play into this? i put it on DHCP and it also says "connect to work" - should that be "internet"?
thanks

Ok Im having the same problem I guess I should of tried it before opening my mouth lol
on my 8525 running WM6.1 it works flawlessly PC connection is set to usb and network connection is to media net.
On the fuze I get the same error you do something like connecton to host failed....
so now I'm on the please help me list with you!
I spoke to someone a rep friend of mine and he said they disabled the ability to tether. You need to have the tethering plan in order for it to work.
Hmm, seems like somebody's going to need to hack around that

Yeah really! looks like I wont be getting rid of my tytn any time soon its going to suck to swap out sims everytime I want to tether to my laptop.
I had a similar issue:
An unlocked and custom-ROM Wizard worked with ICS just fine. My new Samsung Epix kept spitting out the dreaded "The remote party has ended this connection" almost immediately upon clicking Connect in ICS.
I see you already have MediaNET pointed to wap.cingular
I found I had to add the username and password:
[email protected]
CINGULAR1
I also set GPRS Authentication for MediaNET to CHAP.
I am internet sharing 3G beautifully over Bluetooth with Vista64.

this is consistent with my BJ1 settings and works fine on that device. i have the same settings on the fuze.
did you do anything on the Vista side?
did you have to install the drivers from the CD?
any other settings that i should know about?
I had the same problem. This workaround seems to be working for me, though:
0. Make sure phone is NOT connected to computer
1. Go to Start -> Programs -> Internet Sharing
2. Set the PC Connection to USB and the Network Connection to Media Net
3. Click Connect
4. Connect USB cable to computer

This is what I do on my 8525 but on the fuze no luck :-(
Im going to try and do a hard reset and stop it from installing the at&t stuff and see if it works.

Network connection drop down seems to be absent in internet sharing on my Fuze... hmmm...
Well the hard reset with no extra stuff installed did not work :-(
I hope some HTC wizard can figure this out.
I think this is a Windows Mobile registry settings issue, not an HTC issue. They set it this way at the request of AT&T.
Got this from:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=437796&page=2
This may actually fix both the missing Network drop-down and the "Remote party has ended the connection" issue. Its for Sprint, but worked for me. Just substitute MediaNET for Sprint.
After my first post, I had to do a Hard Reset and then the issue jamorgan2008 is having (Network drop-down not showing). I didn't have this the first time. I looked up the Registry Key and it had Cingular ISP as the ForceCellConnection value. I deleted it and am back on again. As such, this may also fix your issue as well, hondaguyjoe. Do you have the Network option in Internet Sharing or just PC Connection? You may need a Mobile Registry Editor for this.

No you do not need to purchase Phone As Modem plan.
No they will not charge you extra because there's no way for them to known you tethering to a pc.
I have two Touch Diamonds (not Pro's).
One for my wife and one for me.
My Internet sharing (Start\Programs\Internet sharing) only has one drop down menu, "PC Connection".
My wife's has two drop downs "PC Connection" AND "Network connection".
Now I bought her's two days after mine at the same Sprint store.
Her Internet connection shares Internet via USB connected directly to a PC without issue.
Mine doesn't since I have not been able to set the missing "Network connection" drop down menu option to the appropriate setting of "Sprint". Instead it either say Waiting for network or error 67 invalid username and password (something like that)
I deleted the key: (not just the value)
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\InternetSharing\settings]
ForceCellConnection
Now I got the second drop down menu "Network connection", restarted the phone and now it works like a champ.

Im not seeing this issue with bluetooth... perhaps you are in a poor reception area. Are you using a usb cable or bluetooth?
