Internet calling and GPS - Touch Pro, Fuze General

Hi,
A few months ago, I installed WM6VOIP.CAB which downloaded here. Once installed and configured, GPS stopped working. I had to re-flash the phone and then get back GPS. Does anyone know this issue has been fixed or not?
Thanks in advance

There is a cab file out there that doesn't have this problem:
InternetCalling_21109.cab
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=446652&page=105
I've tried a lot of the WMVOIP6 installs and this seems to be the only one that acutally works AND doesn't break the GPS in the process....

Do you have any idea why can it conflict with GPS? I downloaded this cab but installation is not sucessful. I guess the file RTCDLL.DLL is using by system and cannot be overwritten. How to unlock this file?

I forget the resaon for the conflict.
Shoot me an email at victor dot anderson at gmail dot com and I'll email ya .cab I'm using for the install - which works fine on my HTC Fuze....

Thank you, finally, I managed to install this cab. The file "RTCDLL.DLL" existed already and that is why the installation fails. I rename this file and then install the cab successfully. Then I setup the SIP settings(I use voipRaider). VoipRaider is appearred on Today screen, and the status changed to "Selected" when I turned WiFi on. Everything looks fine but how to make a internet call? I don't see any option to select internet call from phone contact list. Do you have any idea?
GPS is still working after I installed voip.

Once you're today screen is showing "selected" - then you're good to go - it uses the built-in dailer so just dial as normal either from the dialer or contact list....
Are you on ATT? One of the things that bothers me about ATT is that you can't use VoIP over 3G - but with the other carriers I think you can do this - there is a registry entry you have to change....

Yes, I am on AT&T. I did not make a call over 3G, but I can see "Selected" appears in 3G mode as well. Does this mean I can make internet call over 3G?

Maybe it's me but I can't find the link to the cab in that link you posted.

I can attach for you. here you are:

sorry it took me so long to get back to ya...fogot about this thread and I wasn't subscribed to it ....
Anyway - if you see 'selected' while in 3G - then yes, you should be able to make voip calls over 3G.
have you updated your ROM or flashed your phone? If you have, which ROM are you using that got this to work?
And which version of the radio do you have?
Thanks!

Hi, Tech
I am using the lastest official AT&T ROM which you can download from HTC web site. I think it was released at the end of May.

One problem to use internet calling is that the voice comes out from speaker. Do you have same problem?

Yeah we all have that problem. If you're not going to use a bluetooth headset or a wired headset - there is something called audioroute that can help ya out...
http://www.softwarearea.info/audioroute-v12020.htm

I had some problems with navigating when the phone rings...
After I picked op the phone during navigating I can make a phonecall and
the navigation screen comes back...like it added this...
So that I can keep on navigating during the call.
The problem was that the most times the lost of the comport off the GPS(C4)
After hanging up the call the GPS connection lost his connection most of the times.
After installing this cab (InternetCalling_21109 work with GPS.cab)
The GPS keeps on running during and after dialing...lol...
Deleted the internet calling from the todays screen(I dont use this)
But I think it was not ment to get this function but for me it works!
Maybe someone else can use it 2...lol...

Skype on the Treo 750?

Has anyone been able to use Skype on the Treo 750v via 3G or WiFi?
I have tried with WiFi with no luck, I don't have 3G coverage where I live and would like to know if someone that does could try it out and see if it works.

\the 750v doesnt have wifi...
Sorry, I meant WiFi with the Spectec WiFi card.
Yes, I tried
I have exactly your configuration: Treo + Minisd Spectec + Skype.
Using Skype over Wi-Fi was only a partial success.
In fact I could chat (of course) and making calls to other Skype users. However during some of those phone calls I could not hear the voice of the person I was talking to (and he couldn't either).
The real disaster is calling traditional phone: in such a case, call is sent and the called phone starts ringing.
At that point Treo has already crashed (need a soft-reset) and traditional phone continues ringing uncontrolled(!)
Furthermore, if Treo goes to sleep with wi-fi working, when it wakes up, card is only seemingly working but will work again only with reinsertion of the card.
I blame it on Spectec driver.
Can someone help?
Bye
I have not been able to connect to other skype users at all, the conversation would freeze at about 2 to 8 seconds, I'm able to hear fragments of voice and the other people can somewhat hear me for a few seconds, then the Treo crashes. That's it on my side.
It would be great if someone could test it out using 3G.

Which version of Skype Mobile are you using? v2.1, v2.0 or v2.0 for slow processors?
From skype website I clicked for downloading of version 2 for slow processor; however, in the dowload page, just under the download button, it shows v. 2.1.0.65 so I am not sure which version number I should trust; anyway I installed that one!
Bye!
Today I was finally able to connect via 3G and establish a Skype call and was successful!!!!
I was using Skype v2.0 for slow processors. I had no other programs running and did some registry hacks to disable some codecs and was using the supplied wired headset.
If someone wants those hacks let me know and I will post them.
This leads me to agree with lan_xda that the Spectec drivers are to blame.
I did a speed test and got 187kbps which I thing is a bit slow for UMTS. (Edit: Actually redid the test at dslreports.com/speedtest with a larger file (1MB) and got a speed of 306 kbit/sec, it was giving me an erroneous reading using the 200k file)
Hey Hector, or anyone for that matter...
Did you guys ever get the problem with not being able to connect SKYPE to the Network, I am in full 3G coverage, but it doesn't even attempt to connect, just immediatly pops up "Unable to Connect to the Internet. Please check connections settings" Its weird even if I am connected (via HSDPA) and even if I am not Connected, it doesn't even try to initiate the Connection when the Data Connection is not connected - just instantly times out with that popup error.... any ideas???
Thanks in advance... Hector I wanted to try it on my Treo with HSDPA snce you said it worked well with UMTS i can only imagine the possiblities...

drakmog,
I got a similar error yesterday with my Treo and what I did was to soft reset it and it went away. Try to do this and see if it works.
Keep us posted on your results.
Hello,

VOIP software hangs phone

Hi,
I bought the Excalibur and the Vox 'cause I though it would have been great being able to place VOIP calls from my phone, using the same setup I use with my ATA.
The files to enable VOIP and MS phones have been circulating since a while, but even though I tried couple of packages I still have some issues.
The problem I have is that, for some strange reason, when the VOIP cab is installed my phone sometimes loses "Calling and receiving" capability.
Sometimes I trie to place a phone call and the phone hangs, I can only switch it off and on again. Sometimes I even have to remove the SD card otherwise it will keep doing a Reboot Loop.
Other times I receive an SMS for a missed call, as if I had been offline. When I then try to call back my phone hangs.
This bug seems to affect only the Calls and not the SMS functionality.
Has anybody experienced the same issue?
Thanks,
Ka.
I also have the same problems except for the SD rebooting.
I installed the VOIP client from the workarround posted here and I also experience the same problems:
1) phone seems to work fine until I decide to place a call, when I finish entering the numbers and I hit the Call button, the phone does nothing (not even the beep) and from that point I know that I can't place calls (dial pad doesn't even works on home screen). I have to reboot.
2) I receive SMS from missed incoming calls. If I call my S710 from another phone I get a calling tone and then the answering service, but the S710 does nothing.
I had email accounts configured and I thought this problem was from GPRS not letting GSM calls come in (as it says in other threads) but now I have no active email accounts, no GPRS traffic and it is ever worst (3 to 4 reboots a day!)
I honestly don't remember this problem before VOIP client installed.
Anyone has this simptoms???
I do have the same probs
Probably others aren't experiencing the same because they disable the VOIP when no Wifi is available. I'll try to reinstall the VOIP Cab and try that way.
Bought the S710 for it's VOIP cababilities and possibility to hook it to my PBX and finally feel the freedom of VOIP (Ok, bit exagerating but you get my point ).
Anyway, since we're two at the moment, promised to keep you posted.
Thanks for your help.
Ka.

Hi there,
sorry for taking so much time. Actually been quite busy lately and well, ok, must admin left this VOIP thing a bit aside.
Anyway, would you mind trying this version, hope it will work a bit better.
Tested with the provider you sent me and it seems to work.
(This is not a Cab Install thing, been packed up in couple of minutes, please unzip it and run it from your mobile.)
I think I'll get back to this so stay tuned for some little enhancements.
Ka.
COOOL.....Works on my modded Tornado with wm06...great!!!!Thanks!!!!
Hello Kast,
After my last post, I unistalled the VOIP software from within the phone's start>Settings>Remove Programs>Sleuth's WM6VoIP
I got this message "Sleuth's WM6VoIP was not completly removed. Do you want to remove it from the list of installed programs?", I didn't remove it.
I then changed the Settings>phone>Internet Calling>"Use Internet Calling" to "Never".
Since then I haven't experienced any troubles at all and I haven't rebooted the phone for some days now! problem solved but no VoIP!
I'll try your VoIP files and see what happends.
Cheers
P.S. My setting for VoIP was "whenever available" but i had WiFi off 99% of the day. (some days even 100%).

Bandswitch V2.4.3 for HTC Polaris

Hi.
After some changes It seems the new version of bandswitch is compatible with HTC Polaris. Bandswitch is used to swith from 2g and 3g quickly with only one click, enabling to save bettery keeping in 2g and using 3g when needed.
Dani
Thank you, provides very good this application
thank you guy , it seem it work very good on my cruise !
Nice
I couldnt test it on this device because I dont own one but It seems the system to change the band is the same than kaiser, instead of Hermes....So I ve modified it to behave like if It detects the device is kaiser...
Dani
i got a problem, when people try to reach me they automatically get my voice mail (in normal phone settings) i also have problems calling myself (stops a few times and then after trying again suddenly connects). same with messages long delays in receiving and sending...
after setting the band to GSM they can reach me but i have the idea that i cant use 3g????
is there a problem with the phones function t switch between 2g and 3g and do i need this app (bandswitch) for it or is there something with my phone or my opperator-settings?
Hi.
It is operator issues. I have same problem here in Spain with Vodafone. But this problem doesnt happen with Movistar. Being in 2g, if gprs is connected AND there is data flow in that moment then if someone call me it appears as phone turned off. Some friends of mine are telecomunication eng. in vodafone and says Its the sw version of the system, but not related with the pda or its configuration.
Greetings
Dani
ok, thnx
sw version of the system? (do u mean software..)
but is there something my operator can do so it works or must i keep on switching myself in my phone settings?
or do u suggest to use bandswitch?
yes,software.
HTC roms allows to change the band but the process is slows(many clicks). Because of this bandswitch was borned. In fact if you see the first post (in hermes forum) I was searching for a today plugin to switch quickly the band. I didnt find any and I developed this tool. Other operator rom doesnt provide a way to switch the band. Why? I suppose 3G generates more data traffic and more meney for telcos so they fix their devices to 2G. SO you have to use other tools (like bandswitch or commmgrpro) to change the band.
Greetings
Dani
Hello Daniel,
Should V2.5 work with a Cruise that uses the Murata radio?
I dont know that ROM. Today will be out V2.6 beta. In this version I ve changed the way to manage connections because some devices (htc touch, samsung i780) doesnt implement correctly some RAS functions so I hope management connections works for these devices too..
Testers for bandswitch v2.6
Its a beta.
Connection management didnt work correctly on this device because a known problem in some RAS API functions didnt implemented.
http://www.commmgrpro.com/CommMgrPro/files/BandSwitch.V2.6.cab
Changes:
1) Connections management(Stablish, close) has been replaced with IpHelper API so It should work with HTC Touch, Samsung i780 and others. Can you test it?. It would be nice if It was tested with currently working devices (tynt, hermes, ....) and not working devices (touch).
2) Keyboard appears automatically on license and text controls.
3) Unsintall process backed up registry settings to other registry place. It was causing in some devices error uninstalling. It has been solved. When you install old version It can cause error but continues with the installing process.
Greetings.
DAni
pd. Testers will have free license, of course
Testing? Yes!
Hey Dani!
I`ve just downloaded the cab and test it now.
How could I give my feedback?

I can't install it, keeps asking me for a serial number.
Once any version of bandswitch you ve 15 days to use it. The countdown doesnt stop even if you install other version. I will do a separate system for betas that doesnt watch if there was any other version installed some time...
2.6.1 works fine
Hey Daniel!
I just installed your new version and it works fine, the button behavior is fixed and i found no errors whit switching 2G/3G, speaker WiFi or BT.
All fine so far, but the beta expires in three days...

[SOLVED] HTC Tilt + Dutty WM6.1 + BBConnect = PIN: Pending

Hey guys, i've seen a number of different threads which "kind of" talk about this issue. I'm hoping to make this the definitive one. I'm on hour 10 of working to try to get this running..
(My apologies in advance if there is already one out there that i haven't found. i have been really looking and i think i tried it all... im sure thats what everyone says )
Hardware: HTC 8925 a.k.a At&t Tilt a.k.a TyTN II
Software: Duttys Official WM6.1 Release
Radio: 1.64.06.04
Provider: At&t (US)
Problem: BlackBerry Connect's "Identity" Tab reads "PIN: Pending"
I should also mention that i called At&t to confirm (prior to all of this) that i have a BBConnect service plan, it is active, and there is nothing on their end that would indicate a failure of any sorts.
Attempted Fixes (These have ALL failed):
I've tried every combination of having active sync enabled and disabled during bbconnect install.
I hard reseted before every install. Soft reseted after issue still occurred even after bbconnect install rebooted.
All tests were performed with the the HKLM\System\Versions Aku set to .0.4.2 as per Dutty's wiki: (http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=DuttySeriesKaiser)
I also tried various combinations such as .0.2.0 and .0.3.6 and .0.3.0
Even tired changing Device ID to HTC_P3450
Tried all of the following BBConnect software downloads:
4.0.0.84:
http://sems.org/content/download/bbc4/o2-terra-bbconnect_wm6_professional_bb_4.0.0.84.cab
4.0.0.90:
http://sems.org/content/download/bbc4/bbconnect_wm6_pro_4.0.0.90.cab
4.0.0.91:
http://sems.org/content/download/bbc4/bbconnect_wm6_professional_bb_4.0.0.91.cab
4.0.0.92:
http://sems.org/content/download/bbc4/bbconnect_wm6_professional_bb.4.0.0.92.cab
Tried installing this one both by copying cab file over to local device and through device web browser:
4.0.0.97:
http://www.america.htc.com/mobile/connect/8925/
I'm installing from and installing to the local device memory, not the storage card..
i think i covered it all... oh, i didnt try the one HEX edit solution, because i didnt think its applicable to dutty's rom..
can ANYONE please help?!
---------------UPDATE--------------------
Okok...so problem solved... i thought i read something similar to this solution somewhere.. but..well whatever... frustrations are over (the problem always seems to find a way to fix itself after you post help for it! )
Process:
1. Hard Reset (set up initial settings, connect to provider, its a total of two reboots iirc)
2. Change registry setting (HKLM\System\Versions Aku set to .0.4.2)
3. Soft Reset
4. Change Device ID to any value (Settings->System->About->Device ID)
5. Soft Reset
6. Install BBConnect 4.0.0.97 via device browser from http://www.america.htc.com/mobile/connect/8925/
7. Installation reboots system
8. Disable 3G connection, force to use EDGE via wireless connection manager
9. Device receives PIN, activates, etc..
10. Enable 3G connection
Notes:
1. So i dont know if items 2,3,4, and 5 were really required.. after preliminary testing, everything works fine with the 3g connection turned on after initial registration.
2. I noticed that the BBConnect Today icon kept showing an exclamation mark indicating its outgoing connection was being blocked. Also the status window kept showing that the connection was suspended by the user, when i never did anything.. so i tired disabling the 3G and sure enough.. problem solved..
Hope this saves someone out there the headache i've been going through.. oh well.. back to the girlfriend who i've been ignoring for the last 10 hours... (hopefully im not in that much trouble )
wooooooooooooooooooot, thx for the solution.
Man...thanks a lot for all the help...it worked like a charm...and i am using it here in dubai...uae where the black berry doestn support the kaiser offically
cheers bro
Great work man, great work for users who uses BBConect
3G still working?
Quick question for those who tried the (disabled 3G to Edge) and then re-enabled 3g.
Does your 3g still work? Have your tried to place calls in 3G mode? I am on my third Tilt, the prior two times I lost 3g after installing blackberry connect, and I want to see if anyone else has this problem, before a try a third time.
Note: On my previous two phones all worked well when I downgraded to GPRS (Edge) as described, but I never got back 3g (even after flashing and removing BBConnect)

I added this post to Dutt's WIKI and gave you due credit for your hard work.
Now if only someone can figure out how to force WM to do multiple APNs and BBConnect would be perfect!
Strange... All I had to do with my Tilt was set the AKU to .0.4.2 or .0.4.4 in the registry before installing the BB Connect software.
I've used the .92 & .97 installers from CAB files on my SD card just fine.
If you change the AKU version after the BB software is installed, it won't work right, as it will still drop the connection. You'll have to reinstall the software.

Quick Question
So to those of you who have BB Connect running, is all well with your 3G? Thanks for your help, I want to hear a few success stories before a walk down this path again
so I followed the steps, and got everything installed and turned off. I'm trying to get an unlocked tilt on my blackberry account on t-mobile.
The problem is its installed, but the email options are greyed out. We don't use an exchange server (or if we do it is configured very wrong) as I have pop3 information on my t-mobile blackberry page. It says I register successfully on the network, but I still don't receive emails. What do I need to chnage?
edit: fixed - I had to get back online and say yes that I had a new pin.
THANKS!!

that is the same problem I have left now, almost like hardware related.
does AT&T default one can do multiple APNs? as it is officaly support BBC.
I installed Blackberry Connect and I am using it with a Blackberry Enterprise Server.
But I see in order to have the BB icon, the GPRS is always attached. Should it work like this ? I know/knew that with Blackberry phones it attaches to GPRS only when incoming email is coming, and only with Microsoft Directpush technology it stays attached all the time.
If it works like this ( Always On ), is there a difference between BB Connect for WM, and Outlook with Microsoft Direct Push ?

Has anybody an idea how this will work on a Pharos / HTC P3470? I just tried it described in this taks, but without success.
I had 2 dots and an x
I updated to Dutty's ROM today, and had problems with BBC.
So I searched, found this page and did exacty as told. No luck. Tried again. No luck.
So I went to Start/Settings/Connections/Connections and then clicked on 'Manage existing connections' and changed the settings (default on Dutty's ROM). [To do that click 'Edit' and change the 'Access point name' from isp.cingular to wap.cingular. Click next and change the 'User name' from ISP.CINGULARGPRS.COM to WAP.CINGULARGPRS.COM]
This worked for me. This info is for noobs, of which I am one!
I have just updated my TyTN II to WM6.1 and bbconnect (version 4.0.97) stopped working. Basically it had PIN marked as pending and was reporting no connection.
I have executed only step 2 (change hklm) and 3 (soft reset) from elec.two procedure and it resolved my issue - bbconnect works now. I have not reinstalled the bbconnect.

Thank you Fab for sharing your work. I also tried your camera fix cab.but what i noticed is that most files directory in both cabs is the Temp folder. while the original exe drives the files to the Windows folder to overwrite the original files.. so , to be honest with you , your camera fix cab did not work for me at least. I had to modify it and i also had to make my own sms fix cab.I have tested it and it should work just like the original exe... anyway we are grateful for your share...

you're correct but there is another problem, if you put all file in windows directory, one process crash.
the cab was only extracted from the exe, the temp directory was originally set by htc
However as you can see, the exe was about 9mb
the cab only 4.
this cab was intended only for cookers or other device.
So: "IF YOU HAVE A LEO PLEASE INSTALL EXE FILE"
when i'm back from uni, i'll do other test
Thanks for your support
Ok the SMS hotfix didn't work for me... Prior I installed this hotfix, i deleted all sms and started off fresh at zero... currently have not more than 70 sms... At this moment my SMS is stuck in outbox like before and for some reason, my data connection keeps reconnecting automatically after i disconnect everytime... i think the issue is with the radio or connectivity, jamming the sms service or whatever...
alright i m gonna do a softreset, remove the hotfix and go back to good old reliable pocket outlook...
HTC please get it right SOON

Thabk you great job
Guys, try disabling HSDPA...
It's when the connection switches from 3G to HSDPA that items get stuck, it happens in all apps on the HD2 which use the net. It's fixed a bunch of connection problems for me including the SMS bug...

Yes this is sounding more and more like the SMS problem is connection related although the app should recover once a good connection is established.
Where I work I get inconsistent HSDPA service and mostly get 3G. I had tested this with GSM preferred as the setting and had a few messages delayed. I have changed my sms setting to GSM and have tested this by sending 30 consecutive msgs to my work colleuage and all went through straight away with no delay.
BTY. I use the 1.48.x WWE ROM and am on Vodafone in Sydney Australia

I concur. I tried the SMS hotfix and it does nothing .
I then went into connections settings and then Advanced Networks and selected the SMS service tab. There I changed the default GSM Preferred to GSM and all the messages that were stuck in the outbox went straight out.
I turned OFF the wi-fi and ran the Stock price app to force a data-connection to HSDPA. Sure enough the connection switched from 3G to H.
I then sent another SMS and it went out straight away. However, I did not see the connection switch to 3G during the SMS send.
So it not conclusive but forcing SMS service to GSM seem to be a work around.
I am surprised, the mobile Operators are still selling this device considering it's full of bugs. That is, how can they release a device that cannot send basic SMS is beyond me !!
Worst still, how can HTC ship such a devive with basic bugs. they have a long way to go before they will be another Apple.
