DST update 2009 for WM6/WM6.x - General Topics

Maybe wrong place, wrong question, sorry for this. don't know where to ask this q.
from june 19, 2009. my country (Bangladesh, +6 GMT) apply DST time and increase time to 1 hour. I have found all other operating system update for this new DST changes but unable to find any for windows mobile. this is very importent cause lots of user like me use windows mobile to sync mail, calender and task.
So is there any patch release from Microsoft or any other provider? Or
is it possible to do it manually by hacking the registry?
Pls HELP.

Hi,
I live in bangladesh as well and am looking for the same patch, i doubt one exists but im sure someone can come up with a small .cab that fixes this. I think it would be better if this was moved to the hacking & development section because a DST app/hack needs to be made.
I've searched for an official microsoft update...but had no luck so far.
EDIT: this might help: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/914387

We can fix it on Windows XP or Vista with the fix here:
http://www.dotcomunderground.com/blogs/2009/06/20/bangladesh-dst-fix-for-windows-xp-and-vista/
But any luck on Windows Mobile?

This resource might help someone willing to work on it:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/914387/
Its a Windows XP/Vista based resource though. But might help if you know how to port it to WinMo.

EDIT: I HAVENT TRIED THIS YET!
The manual way to change your DST settings, the official Microsoft method from here.
an additional note...dont use the link in step 4...its an old 2008 DST update
try doing it using the outlook DST edit method

Perhaps Microsoft may be still fine-tuning the customisation of the WMP10 mobile configurations for different devices?
It's not a simple hack. I've tried a couple of times, and i end up 1st having to hard-reset and subsequently having a very slow device.
Still testing the files and registry combination. Very very slow process, so I hope someone can crack the pot first.
Anyone else have any luck with extracting the WMP10 cab?

DST Update from Microsoft for WM5/6

Hey guys,
MS Has released a DST Update again for some reason. not sure why the first update they releases was not enough.
but here is the link. from MS Site Download link
I have not tried it yet but will do so soon.
From Microsoft:
"This release updates time zone registry data for New Zealand and Western Australia in addition to US, Canada, and Mexico DST related issues in 2007."
Can anybody see if WM6 roms that we have already cover this or not ?
Source : http://www.mydigitallife.us/2007/08/windows-mobil-3.html
PS: this is not my site
This appears to be a new patch (so is newer than the one that was built into WM6). Appears to be due (mainly) to changes in DST for New Zealand:
http://bink.nu/news/daylight-saving-pain-on-way-says-microsoft-new-zealand.aspx
Do you think we need it then for US users ?
Well, the writeup from MS says it fixes some US settings or somesuch. Probably would be a good idea for everyone to install, but no idea what it changes (yet). Maybe they fixed the issue where DST in the US shows your timezone as being one zone back (instead of your real Timezone). But then, I understood that was an issue with the way the Cell operators did things.

Winodows 6.5 - Tbilisi Time is set to GMT +3 - should be GMT+4

Hi everyone,
I am new to forum, hopefully I am doing everything right. I searched the forum and didn't find the anyone adressing this issue already.
I bought a new HTC HD2, currently I live in Germany and calendar synchronisation is functioning perfectly with my Winodows 7 System. As the GMT Times are the same on my HTC HD2 and Windows 7.
Problem: Originally I am from Georgia (Country) and live in capital Tbilisi, I went on Christmas holidays at home, and once I synchronised the data, it messed everything up. I reserached a bit and found out what is wrong.
Here goes: Tbilisi Time Zone is set on windows Mobile 6.5 at GMT +3 and on Windows 7 GMT +4. Microsoft has updated the right timezone of Windows 7, but forgot to update Windows Mobile. (Note: There are no daylight saving changes in Georgia, Tbilisi has the same time whole Year, so these updates are not a issue) Is there any update available to change the +3 to +4 because its really frustrating not to be able to use one of the most important features of pocket PC.
Thanks in Advance,
Best regards,
Chris
Hi and welcome to the forums!
It's good that you searched before posting and that you posted in the correct section. Many beginners can learn from you!
I don't know if I understand you right but are you trying to get your phone time to GMT 4+?
If so, you can do that pretty easily.
Go to the settings tab of manila, press menu and go to all settings.
On the system tab, go to 'Clocks & alarms' . There you can change the GMT.
Hope this helps, just say it if you meant something else.
EC
Hi ElCondor,
Thanks for the feedback, however, that is not what I meant. I already tried that, the problem is that If I need to change the Timezone to +4 I can't choose my home town "Tbilisi", I have to change it to let's say Baku, Azerbaijan.
That would be Okay even for a perfectionist type of person like I am, but Azerbaijan is following the DST changes and in march it will switch back to +5 whereas Tbilisi will remain on +4, which will once again mess up my calendar because on my Laptop of Windows 7 Tbilisi will remain on +4.
Georgia is not involved in the DST system, we have the same time 365 days a Year, that's why I can't use instead of Tbilisi some other city which has +4 cause they all are follwoging DST.
To be more clear I am looking for a patch of any type of update which will change my HTC HD2 GMT exclusively for Tbilisi from +3 to +4.
Thanks once again!
Best Regards,
Chris
Hmm that's a hard one... I've done a quick search but couldn't find anything.
I think you'll have to live with it and changing the time back then, which results in a messed up calendar.
I'm afraid I can't help you, and I don't think there's anyone on the forum who can.
Regards,
EC

[Q] Mango/NoDo Email Reply Not Including Original

Greetings:
I have searched high and low on many forums and boards for more info on this and not found much so here goes;
I use my WP7 phone for work (I have the HTC Trophy and am on Verizon). I am connected to an exchange server and everything works great EXCEPT email replies; the original email text is NOT included and needs to be especially for work. Reviewing other threads across the web it seems this is normally enabled.
I checked with VZW second tier support and supposedly this feature is turned off on the Trophy. Fine, so I dug around, found an obscure WM6.5 reference to a registry key, poked around my NoDo registry and by trial and error was able to enable it by adding this;
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings
Value Name – IncludeOriginal
Value Type – Integer
Value Data – 1
Works great. Now, I am a registered dev and went to upgrade to Mango 7712and did everything possible I could think of (and yes, I know the provxml methods and able to edit my reg in Mango) but I can not get this back no matter where or what reg edit. I also came across someone else on T-Mobile that had this feature enabled on NoDo and went to the Mango RTM and now it does not work.
So, did Mango break this completely? Anyone looked at this on Mango or have any idea what reg key needs to be hacked on Mango?
P.S. This thread might be better in the dev/hack board but I am a Noob.
Digging around some more and need feedback; does the provxml reg edit for Mango on the VZW CDMA Trophy 7 work under any circumstances? It appears it is but it may also be keeping the provxml edits I make at the mid-step point in the Mango process (applied at the 7403 rev before proceeding to 7712). I make the provxml edits in Nodo using the older HTC Connection Setup (new rev does not work as described somewhere else). I then use it again at the 7403 step but have to switch to the new rev on 7712 (old no longer runs). Once I run the new rev HTC connection in Mango I can launch TouchXplorer and am unlocked. I can do all the same provxml processes (email new CustClear.provxml, copy, move, etc) but I am not positive edits are being made. But if my previous edits are kept (which all appear to be) why does my IncludeOriginal key not carry over?
Another note; it appears the main location in NoDo for this hack was HKLM (found using Reg Editor) and not in the HKCU like WM6. Looking at Mango registry dumps this is now in HKCU; is there more restrictive access to HKCU on the CDMA Mango or any version of WP7? I added a HKCU hack to the provxml at all steps just to have it there but did no good.
This brings up a good question - can you edit HKCU the same way as HKLM? I also see the key location I am after moved from Default.hv to User.hv when going from NoDo to Mango; does the provxml work on the whole registry or just the Default hive?
P.S. I have built a process to even get to where I can have TouchXplorer run on the CDMA device from a lot of other threads in this forum and greatly appreciate having everyone's knowledge to use. Thanks!
I am going to add this to the Dev and Hack board.
Odd.. Mine does reply w original text since 7004..
Sent from my LG Optimus 7
I'm having the very same issue. Am using my Dell Venue Pro to connect to my work email, via an Exchange server.
Problem exists in Windows Phone 7, but also in Mango Beta 2. The emai threads show up on my phone when I'm typing a reply, but the recipients don't see them, which often leaves them not knowing what my reply emails are aout.
For now, I'm working around the issue by forwarding emails back tot hem and comenting in the top section.
Would greatly appreciate any help that could be offered to resolve this.
I'm having exactly the exact same problem. It begun with the installation of Mango beta 1. Today I got the official Mango 7720 and the problem is still there. I'm connecting to an Exchange 2003 SP2 infrastructure. I've deleted my account on the phone and create it back and the issue is still there.
Have someone found a solution for this one?
No news on getting this to work (and I have tried, trust me!)...eraffone even mentioned to have this issue. This is not good and I even sent a request to "the phone" at MS about this and got no answer to as why (he did say he would look into it but that was many weeks ago; I have pinged him twice since with nothing).
I am curious to see what MS puts on their compatibility page for comparing WP7 versions with EAS versions and what is and is not supported (but I am guessing this one is a bug or an oversight).
Anyone on the forums having better luck with this using EAS 2007 or higher? This pisses me off and I am NOT upgrading (and down the road who knows what I will end up doing)
WP7 & Exchange 2003
I will also send a request to the "The Phone" with the issue maybe the more noise we make the better chance we have of getting a fix.
I was really banking on that official 7.5 (mango) release would fix this issue. We can't be the only ones who have Exchange 2003 on there corporate networks.
If anyone gets any new information please share it with us.
Thanks
Eric
GO VOTE ON WP7 - this issue is there!!!!

Same problem here Started with Mango Beta... My customers are getting confused when they reply to an email several time and I respond with a yes or no they have no idea what I am responding to.
This is a severe deal breaker for me, enough to make me switch back to Android. I have to be able to reply to e-mails without breaking the entire chain or I might as well just get another device.
Everyone vote up the WinPhone Feature Suggestion here:

Then tweet @WinPhoneSupport and the rest of the Windows Phone team. Our voice must be heard!
Thanks!!!
Odd, we have exchange 2010, i have a surround with Mango on it... works fine. Are you using the official released mango? I never had to do any edits. 3 others at work with trophies have no issue either.
Yea, that is odd because mine has done it sine 7004 too.... using LG Quantum - updated to 7720 - and it still does it.

I don't know what version of exchange my company is using right now (they are a big enterprise shop) but I'm almost positive it didn't used to do this. They are however migrating to Exchange 2010 so maybe it will go away for me. This is still a huge issue though.

[Q] Email bug regarding certificates?

Hello there.
I hope, it is the right place to ask and there is a (simple?) solution to my problem.
I'm using a Samsung Omnia 7, now with Dynamics 2.2.
I have got a problem to use an email-account from TU Dortmund with my WP7-device. Because it works without problems with Windows8 and iOS (and even with LiveEssentials under Win7), I assume, it's a WP7-problem.
I installed Dynamics-ROM to see, if this problem exists in a custom ROM and it doesn't work either.
I used the imap4 setting in WP7, installed all security-certificates provided by the university (after WP7 said, the certificates are not valid), and some time ago, I tried different port-settings. (as newbie here, I'm not allowed to post the links to show you the different informations)
My guess: WP7 can't handle the certificates like it should.
Perhaps someone here can give me another hint, what to do or to try. Or someone of the ROM-developers could have a look for it?
Some help/advice would be nice.
