[Q] Mango/NoDo Email Reply Not Including Original - Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Greetings:
I have searched high and low on many forums and boards for more info on this and not found much so here goes;
I use my WP7 phone for work (I have the HTC Trophy and am on Verizon). I am connected to an exchange server and everything works great EXCEPT email replies; the original email text is NOT included and needs to be especially for work. Reviewing other threads across the web it seems this is normally enabled.
I checked with VZW second tier support and supposedly this feature is turned off on the Trophy. Fine, so I dug around, found an obscure WM6.5 reference to a registry key, poked around my NoDo registry and by trial and error was able to enable it by adding this;
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings
Value Name – IncludeOriginal
Value Type – Integer
Value Data – 1
Works great. Now, I am a registered dev and went to upgrade to Mango 7712and did everything possible I could think of (and yes, I know the provxml methods and able to edit my reg in Mango) but I can not get this back no matter where or what reg edit. I also came across someone else on T-Mobile that had this feature enabled on NoDo and went to the Mango RTM and now it does not work.
So, did Mango break this completely? Anyone looked at this on Mango or have any idea what reg key needs to be hacked on Mango?
P.S. This thread might be better in the dev/hack board but I am a Noob.

Digging around some more and need feedback; does the provxml reg edit for Mango on the VZW CDMA Trophy 7 work under any circumstances? It appears it is but it may also be keeping the provxml edits I make at the mid-step point in the Mango process (applied at the 7403 rev before proceeding to 7712). I make the provxml edits in Nodo using the older HTC Connection Setup (new rev does not work as described somewhere else). I then use it again at the 7403 step but have to switch to the new rev on 7712 (old no longer runs). Once I run the new rev HTC connection in Mango I can launch TouchXplorer and am unlocked. I can do all the same provxml processes (email new CustClear.provxml, copy, move, etc) but I am not positive edits are being made. But if my previous edits are kept (which all appear to be) why does my IncludeOriginal key not carry over?
Another note; it appears the main location in NoDo for this hack was HKLM (found using Reg Editor) and not in the HKCU like WM6. Looking at Mango registry dumps this is now in HKCU; is there more restrictive access to HKCU on the CDMA Mango or any version of WP7? I added a HKCU hack to the provxml at all steps just to have it there but did no good.
This brings up a good question - can you edit HKCU the same way as HKLM? I also see the key location I am after moved from Default.hv to User.hv when going from NoDo to Mango; does the provxml work on the whole registry or just the Default hive?
P.S. I have built a process to even get to where I can have TouchXplorer run on the CDMA device from a lot of other threads in this forum and greatly appreciate having everyone's knowledge to use. Thanks!

I am going to add this to the Dev and Hack board.

Odd.. Mine does reply w original text since 7004..
Sent from my LG Optimus 7

I'm having the very same issue. Am using my Dell Venue Pro to connect to my work email, via an Exchange server.
Problem exists in Windows Phone 7, but also in Mango Beta 2. The emai threads show up on my phone when I'm typing a reply, but the recipients don't see them, which often leaves them not knowing what my reply emails are aout.
For now, I'm working around the issue by forwarding emails back tot hem and comenting in the top section.
Would greatly appreciate any help that could be offered to resolve this.

I'm having exactly the exact same problem. It begun with the installation of Mango beta 1. Today I got the official Mango 7720 and the problem is still there. I'm connecting to an Exchange 2003 SP2 infrastructure. I've deleted my account on the phone and create it back and the issue is still there.
Have someone found a solution for this one?

No news on getting this to work (and I have tried, trust me!)...eraffone even mentioned to have this issue. This is not good and I even sent a request to "the phone" at MS about this and got no answer to as why (he did say he would look into it but that was many weeks ago; I have pinged him twice since with nothing).
I am curious to see what MS puts on their compatibility page for comparing WP7 versions with EAS versions and what is and is not supported (but I am guessing this one is a bug or an oversight).
Anyone on the forums having better luck with this using EAS 2007 or higher? This pisses me off and I am NOT upgrading (and down the road who knows what I will end up doing)

WP7 & Exchange 2003
I will also send a request to the "The Phone" with the issue maybe the more noise we make the better chance we have of getting a fix.
I was really banking on that official 7.5 (mango) release would fix this issue. We can't be the only ones who have Exchange 2003 on there corporate networks.
If anyone gets any new information please share it with us.
Thanks
Eric

GO VOTE ON WP7 - this issue is there!!!!

Same problem here Started with Mango Beta... My customers are getting confused when they reply to an email several time and I respond with a yes or no they have no idea what I am responding to.

This is a severe deal breaker for me, enough to make me switch back to Android. I have to be able to reply to e-mails without breaking the entire chain or I might as well just get another device.

Everyone vote up the WinPhone Feature Suggestion here:

Then tweet @WinPhoneSupport and the rest of the Windows Phone team. Our voice must be heard!
Thanks!!!

Odd, we have exchange 2010, i have a surround with Mango on it... works fine. Are you using the official released mango? I never had to do any edits. 3 others at work with trophies have no issue either.

Yea, that is odd because mine has done it sine 7004 too.... using LG Quantum - updated to 7720 - and it still does it.

I don't know what version of exchange my company is using right now (they are a big enterprise shop) but I'm almost positive it didn't used to do this. They are however migrating to Exchange 2010 so maybe it will go away for me. This is still a huge issue though.

Yeah official Mango its only any issue with Exchange 2003. 07/2010 are fine.

Houston, we have a solution;

How to make Pocket PC 2003 input software work on WM 5? (Celluon Laserkey)

I'm pissed. I ordered the Celluon Laserkey CL800BT as a mobile keyboard. But it appears it still has not had drivers/installation software created for WM 5. Nowhere on the seller's website did it mention this very critical piece of information. The Celluon website utterly fails to even mention the existence of WM 5 as something they either support or don't support, it's like they're stuck in 2003.
So, the question is... Is it possible to get this thing working on WM 5? I'm not sure if the input panel changes from 2003 to 5 are so big that the drivers supplied won't work or if it might be possible to just fiddle with the registry keys enough to get it to use the 2003 drivers. I figured out that certain registry structure changes were made in how the input software gets listed and so I tried to "upgrade" the entry for the Laserkey and that got the "Projection Keyboard" appearing in the list, but when I select it it just switches to the built-in WM keyboard input.
So, please, all you super clever people, help!!!
Quincy
Wow, that's a neat product. Thing is there is no difference in software keyboards between WM 5 and 2003 but what you have is a hardware keyboard that connects via BT.
If the drivers don't work it means they don't support your devices hardware or BT stack.
Unfortunately short of writing new drivers i do not see a solution to this.
I assume you tried installing it using the WM 2003 setup?
If it doesn't work i think you should ask for your money back.
Thanks, yeah, I tried the install for PPC 2003 and that completes, but as I mentioned the "Projection Keyboard" option in the SIP list does NOT appear. So I figured how what registry tweaking would make it appear but selecting it doesn't work. I changed the registry to point to the DLL I presumed should be called (there were only 2 that came with it, and I tried both) but nothing. I assume the SIP hooks into the DLL/etc. have changed from 2003 to 5.
It is an amazing product, if only it worked. Celluon must be in bad shape or something for them not to have current drivers (I contacted their tech support and have not heard back yet...). There are few things more annoying than having in your hands something that is amazingly cool and having absolutely no ability to use it.
I talked to the seller and it looks like they'll take it back, but I'm stunned they wouldn't have a big warning or at least a little warning/mention of the fact that it won't work on the current PPC OS.
So, warning to all, don't buy the Celluon Laserkey if you've got WM 5!
Quincy
One thing I just thought of, probably should have mentioned it before (this is really stupid of me):
Maybe the DLL you are messing with is not a SIP DLL at all? This is a hardware keyboard and it should work no matter what software keyboard is selected.
So try to do a clean installation (so your registry tweaks won't get in the way) and just open Word for example and type.
Also maybe it needs parring or some special BT settings?
Good suggestion, Levenum. I don't know exactly it is supposed to work, but I do know that you use the SIP selector to choose the "Projection Keyboard" and then it takes input from the keyboard. So, I'm pretty sure it really does act as a SIP. I've tried re-installing a few times, along the lines you suggest, having cleared everything out but still no luck.
I guess I'll wait another couple days and ship it back. I've written several times to Celluon but have yet to hear anything.
Quincy
Hmm, if they have written it this way (its possible of course) it would be a very stupid approach.
I had a chance to use a couple of hardware keyboards and they usually work separately from the SIP system be it BT or IR keyboard.
Strange that company creating a product primarily for mobile devices seems to know so little about them.
I too have the same problem with my IPAQ hx2490b running WM5.
I have found this web site which hosts a Celluon Laserkey driver for WM5 which installs OK without any registry changes.
The problem is that when the Projection Keyboard is seleted from the Input list and from the keyboard icon, I get a message to say BTM Cannot get current state. If I exit from the driver screen, I then get an error to say that the serial port is in use by another device which should be stopped before trying to use the Projection Keyboard again.
I have removed all of my other BT pairings, done a hard reset and started from scratch to no avail.
The CL800BT pairs OK until I load the driver. If anyone has any ideas for a workaround or has had success in getting this keyboard to work under WM5 I would be grateful for your advice.
I have emailed Celluon but have had no reply. The UK distributor has been trying to sort this for me for a week with no success.

Dear all,
there is a WM5-driver on the plawa page aviable -
and it's working as well on WM6 (testet with Hermes)!
okay, that's not a surprise - but the german shortcuts
are working as well!
can I have a link to the plawa page you refer to? I want to use it on wm6 too.

Calendar Replacement - FINALLY FOUND! (DateLens)

Hey guys!
I did a thorough search of these forums and was amazed to find nothing about the wonderful program DateLens Calendar. (Apparently it used to be called FishCal).
It's a front-end for the clunky Calendar in WM5 and it has a very interesting GUI. Not "interesting-gimmicky", "interesting-FUNCTIONAL!"
It's freeware, so check it out here:
http://www.windsorinterfaces.com/datelens.shtml
Enjoy!
Dax.
I forgot to mention...
Only problem I've found with the program is that is doesn't have an icon, as in, it uses the default program icon, which is kinda ugly.
Never fear! I realised that it should be possible to use icon from a DLL file as a program icon (Just like in Windows xp, 98, etc)
Simply open the shortcut in something like PHM Notepad and add the following to use the standard Calendar icon.
?outres.dll,-10002
So the contents of the shortcut file should now look something like this:
45#"\Program Files\DateLens PPC\DateLensApp.exe"?outres.dll,-10002
Snoop around; Opening other shortcuts in PHM Notepad will reveal some interesting syntax. I think I saw one that said something like "Icon=" but I can't find it again.
Psst!: In PHM Notepad, don't forget to change the file types from *.txt to *.* or you won't see the shortcuts!
Ohhh maaan!
This puppy doesn't seem to work correctly!
It's great as a proof of concept, but doesn't function properly on my handset.
(I noticed when I try to enter a date, it comes up with a year of 1753!)
The author says that it could be due to regional settings, but this has not fixed it the problem in my case.
Has anyone else tried it and got it to work?
Now that I've seen it in operation, I can't stand to go back to other software! Even AgendaOne!
Dax.
Yes, I have the year 1753 problem as well. My regional settings is of the UK region. And when I tried to make it 2007, it goes 9988. Anyway, I bet it may be caused by WM5 problem rather than regional settings. Also, it seems slow in starting the app as well. Much slower than what I've experienced with other PIM (e.g. PocketInformant). However, once you had it in the memory, it seems alright.
Having said that, this app rocks! I wonder why it isn't getting the publicity that it should. SEE THE VIDEO DEMO HERE!!
It is sooooo aye-Fone-ish. They should have done more advertisements. I bet other PIM (probably Apple?) will like to have get their interface
Thanks Hanmin!
Much appreciated!
That calendar app looks very promising. Anyone talk to the developer yet on the WM5 issue??
He's said that he won't be working on it anymore, despite the fact he still thinks the concept is good (So do we!!), BUT that he is considering open-sourcing it.
Even if he does this, we would need dedicated & talented programmers to work on the code.
Do we have any takers?
Has the author released the source yet??
Holy crap, this is amazing. Well done on finding this little gem, I've been looking all over for an outlook replacement that was easier to work with but wasn't overloaded with to many features.
This is a great find, free as well! bonus.
Very nice. Has anyone figured out how to enter new appointments with the correct year and day?
@Kwan: No, unfortunately not. What we need is for everyone who's interested to ask the author to make it open source. I'm happy to co-ordinate the SourceForge site and he's already sent me the code, we just need his permission to open source it.
His name is Ben Bederson: [email protected]
Please be polite and courteous! If he says no, please don't hassle him. (But I really hope he says yes!)
All the best,
Hi. I'm new here. This app looks great! Has there been any updates? Has anyone tried it on WM6?
This is where you'd find updates if there were any.
You need to email Ben if you want this thing to go anywhere. We need all the support we can get!
ei.. you are back hows your effort with the code?
This app is pretty nice. I have been using it for the past day.
There are some issues with it though. Creating appointments causes an error and makes the app crash. It just needs to be fine tuned a little more.
Extremely impressive and works on my HTC Wizard running WM6 minus the already mentioned issues. I've done my part by sending Ben an email. Anyone have any new info on the appointment entry and date fixes? It is really all this app needs to be fully functional and more intuitive than any other calendar on the market. I can't believe this thing has gotten no press.

ActiveSync Error 86000107 - possible cause: ringtones!

As many others I've had the error message 86000107 during ActiveSync synchronization. In my case the cause was the multiple change of ringtones on the PPC using 'VIP PIM Ringtone' (used version, see signature). Think, the cause was not using the tool but having changed >100 contacts at once.
Solution in ActiveSync on PC:
Uncheck 'contacts' in synchronization options. Take care: This will delete your contacts on PPC and your individual assignments of ringtones to contacts, too!
Confirm Deletion.
Synchronize without having 'contacts' checked. Now everything could work fine.
Check the option 'contacts' again.
Synchronize having 'contacts' checked.
Now try assigning individual ringtones again. But check synchronization after each assignment. Perhaps you find out more (ringtone not proper? ...).
llok like it is Active sync 4.5 with Wm6.1 device
Look look like if many changes happend between two sync then Active sync 4.5 with wm6.1 produce error.

Sorry to double post the same thing but
I don’t think its to do with the amount of data changed to be synced ,I have desk top cradle at home and in the office and I stand the phone in the cradles to charge and even if I have not changed any data the issue still happens ??
But if I un check JUST THE CONTACTS let the device sync it is ok if I then check contacts its ok again ,that is until it see the other pc this happen when no data has been changed on pc1 pc1 or ppc
Actually, it is the amount of information, but it isn't just ringtones. If you have more than 100 of anything, it will cause this error. 100 contacts, 100 appointments, 100 tasks, 100 notes, anything. Since I have far more than 100 (1300 contacts, 397 appointments in the next 2 weeks), I get the error every time I switch from one computer to another. There is a solution, but nobody is as yet releasing it. Microsoft has acknowledged it is a WM 6.1 problem, and they have supposedly released a patch, AKU 1.2. But either it has not actually been released, or all the providers are currently evaluating it and won't admit it.
I wrote HTC earlier today inquiring about the AKU 1.2 patch, and got the response that my provider would have to release it for them to provide it on their site. My provider is US Cellular. I called tec support, the original rep had no idea what I was talking about, but he transferred me to the tec support specifically for smartphones, and talked with a rep. She also didn't know about the problem, but searched their knowledge base. She first tried to give me the "solution" many have tried (removing the relationship, etc.), then she found the AKU 1.2 patch I had told her was the real solution, and acknowledged this was the real answer. Unfortunately, she says that Microsoft has not yet released the patch. My complaint was noted, but she said there was nothing to do until Microsoft released the patch. My response was that they needed to call Microsoft and complain, just I was doing with US Cellular.
I suggest that everyone needs to start calling your provider and asking when the patch will be made available. We need to light some fires. If I'm the only unhappy customer, that's too bad. If they start getting lots of unhappy customers, perhaps they will become a little more motivated. I seem to have been the first unhappy person to have called US Cellular.
To cut down the time you have to stay on hold, if you are a US Cellular customer, here's the direct # for the tec center that deals with smartphones: 888-996-5499
BTW, one suggestion the rep had was to reinstall WM6.1. "It won't hurt anything". I installed 6.1 it at the beginning of the week, and just got everything the way I liked it, including installing TouchFlo 2D. Even with backing stuff up, this isn't the solution I'm looking for. Has anyone else tried this? Does anyone want to? Can anyone see a reason why installing it a second time would make it work, when Microsoft has acknowledged they have a problem?
... i faced the same problem... founding finally the best solution - promissed.
Just use Pocket Mirror Prof. for Calendar, Tasks and Contacts. Notes u can still use with AS.
It will sync 100% without probs, much faster and seeing what is left.
(contacts about 4500, 3500 calendar entries in 30 min.)
Cheers

So your solution is to buy a $50 program, instead of MS fixing their problem? This sounds like the spam another thread warning noobs was talking about.
MS have fixed the problem in later AKU releases - it's down to the vendor to implement the fix on within their ROM's...
The HTC Diamond has been fixed, the Pro will be fixed, the HD will not have the problem, etc. etc.
Grey handsets are the Dual, Cruise, TyTN 2 and x7510 - this all use AKU1.2 so shall be affected the the '107' problem.
If your handset is branded, you will need to petition them in order for the fix to be released.

First of all, I agree on that "MS needs to to fix that".
By the way, I talked to MS and I talked to SE, both linked to each others.
In differrent forums, the topic is hot without any proofen tested "YES it works".
For this reason, I open to pay an amount for a working solution.... and meanwhile, where other people are trying to fix and to fix and to fix.... I go riding my snowboard, knowing everything works
How is that....
error message
The '100' contacts error message cropped up on my touch pro today - Im back in xda land after my mini-s died when water entered my jacket pocket on my motorbike! The xda finally came back to life....but its backlight didnt.... ah well. I played with a google G1 for three weeks before crawling back to winmo...fancy that. Android is so much easier to use than windows mobile...shame about the hardware.... but soon..... soon...
Anyway im just about to reinstall the 690 contacts on my pro - Im only posting because I happen to notice I have 90 entries in my calendar! ooo close one!
Time goes by without a working solution.
Any help yet?

SMS Vulnerability impacting WM devices?

I read from this article:http://www.macrumors.com/2009/07/31/apple-to-release-fix-for-iphone-sms-vulnerability-on-saturday/
It says the vulnerability impacts our WM phone as well. Anyone has checked that and if fix is available? Tried using Google to search our beloved forum but didn't pop up anything yet ..
I read about this too and if it can be patched that quickly on Android then I'd hope it should also be a quick patch on WinMo, especially as the SMS functionality is implemented in pretty much the same way apparently.
Plus XDA has people who are working with Android so maybe they can share what changes Google have made?
I am fairly surprised this hasn't been picked up by the technical bods here as it is quite a major vulnerability and Apple and Google have patched their OS's so WinMo is trailing behind... unless someone knows of a patch thats already been done?
I'm going to PM some mods I know ..
Any response from them yet?
Our good Dave is going to check with some resident expert.. and hopefully some lights to be shed.
From the info I gathered, it actually result in DOS for iPhone and Android, but no news/confirmation on WM yet. So we don't know. However, given the method explored by the author, it's likely at minimum resulting the same (DOS, phone hung, etc.). I think, for phone user, this is critical, as you can't spend your day checking the phone always just to make sure it's still connecting to network/operators.
From what I read the vulnerability could allow for remote code execution including reading your phone's storage and activating cameras and gps. So someone could write an app that send this information back via the data connection and that person could be watched and tracked without knowing that there were compromised.
This is obviously worst case scenario but I for one would sit on the paranoia side of the fence and get it plugged. If we can.
From what I got and discussion, it's mostly DOS.
However, IMO, it still scary. You can't be contacted nor SMS-ed without you realizing until you need to initiate call/ connection.
For someone most of the time on receiving side (doctors, etc) it's really a danger. I do hope our resident expert can find out something, as I don't think MS will be doing it.
You may want to read this article where they interview one of the guys that found the vuln...

Charlie: Collin's framework also works on Android and WinMobile. We found some denial of service bugs in Android (which we reported and are fixed) and a pretty bad bug in the way HTC WinMobile phones handle SMS messages containing the format specifier %n. That's a fun one because you don't need any special tools to send the malicious message, just use your phone to text your buddy with %n and their TouchFlo (application manager) will crash and won't come back up.

I believe the current HTC handsets come with WM6.1 now as standard, either HTC or Operator flavoured. As this is a forum for all HTC devices on WM5.0/6.0/6.1/6.5 can we have some testing done on stock ROM's on stock devices please?
I'm going to send a %n text to my buddy's phone and see.
At least now the thread is getting some attention. My concern is for people (like me) that rely more on receiving call/SMS than making call/sending SMS. A crashed network connection will result in no phone at all.
How'd the testing go and any movement on patching?
Just sent myself a %n message but nothing happened. On TPC v10.9 on M2D (Mega's M2D)
My friend is now using custom ROM .. so no try there. I don't have OEM that has M2D ..
What about just trying it on a bog standard WM6.1 OEM ROM from an operator.
Can do .. later perhaps when I'm changing ROM again. I thought it only crashes M2D? No OEM for Kaiser has M2D ..
Reviving this thread because iPhone is vulnerable. Not sure if IE also on our Kaiser? Opera?

[Q] HTC Trophy VZW 3D Run AutoConfig Data Disabled?

I followed Heathcliff74's guide to the letter on: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1271963
Made a backup and thought it was created (said it was, successful too).
Chevron Labs unlocked.
After deploying 'HTC Interop Unlock.xap' Connection Setup would not accept the db modification, presenting a warning that my carrier was not in the db.
For some odd reason I was able to install Registry Editor and Advanced Config. I also can confirm numbers '##634#', '##778#' and another '##3282#' which seems to be the same as '##778#' number working, forgotten what it is. Advanced Config for Mango does run but options do not 'stick' and it had 'Run AutoData Config' as unchecked. This I believe is my problem. I've tried checking it but it won't stick under a restart. After repairing connection setup (and reinstalling it) I can set my carrier back to what it should be but my 3G is gone. So I decided to check my backup...which Windows 7 didn't refresh my desktop to show it was actually deleted cause the backup failed. -_-; No previous backups.
Further Notes:
I'd like to also try at enabling tethering...Verizon. >_>
Settings->Cellular: APN is set to automatic.
Specs:
OS: 7.10.7720.68
Firmware: 2305.13.20104.605
Connection Setup: 1.13
I'm a developer in all things but WP7. Also got a bit of reverse-engineer in me but WP7 is strange to me. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
*Edit*
I've apparently got V2 drivers? Tango installed eh...Noticed I've not been able to select cellular modes...locked to CDMA?
*Edit*
My brother has the same phone but his is a few versions older (no updates). His Mode Selection allows for Global, CDMA, and GSM...Mine only shows CDMA...
I'm going to tinker around in ##3282# and with password 000000 it works, going to see if I can CDMA->Global this thing.
*EDIT*
I ##3282#ed on my brothers phone and it shows the following ENABLED but mine show DISABLED (will do a comparison of variables/params to see if I can fix this CDMA-only issue):
MOB_TERM_FOR_HOME
MOB_TERM_FOR_SID
MOB_TERM_FOR_NID
*Edit*
After setting these 'Enabled' and rebooting phone...Disabled again. ;_;
I've read around you can help hide your tethering if you set DUN NAI (for verizon) to exclude the dun prefix in the domain name. I can't tether but I'd like to know if this would work. Want to set up tethering.
Thank you all for your help...*echo echo echo*
Luckily I was able to revert back to a previous 'snapshot' backup of my phone and successfully unlocked my phone with the instructions in the referenced thread specific to Verizon.
Our Verizon Trophy's (SparkW) where recently added to DFT's supported list for HSPL (on Feb 15th). We can officially join the world of custom roms and not worry about manually applying Interop unlock.
You can read my guide on HSPL unlocking for SparkW to find out how to do HSPL, if you are interested.
While no Verizon rom is publicly available, DFT does have their Freedom rom in testing for SparkW. Read entire thread for more information.
Is my Verizon HTC Trophy (not HTC Trophy 7) a Spark or SparkW? I'm still on contract so I have to use Verizon networks...new to the WP7 scene, not sure about custom ROMs working on which providers etc. A complete 101 on 'So you have XXX Phone and you want to mod' would be so nice but eh, I don't know enough to write one. I did manage to Interop Unlock and Dev Unlock (Chevron) my phone but I had to force 8107 updates for a feature (Internet Sharing) to work since Verizon doesn't have anything above 7720. Interop Accesses seem down, can't change UserProcGroup to 5 for ICS. :/ Can't add Color Themes in Advance Config either. But I can deploy Interop xaps...
Verizon Trophy has CDMA and is codename SparkW. My HSPL guide covers unlocking it, but read my ENTIRE thread to find out who to contact for a rom to test. I'd get a hold of the test rom link before applying HSPL to the phone.
I did read a good bit of that thread a day or two ago and my SPL is a 2.1.X. :/ I've always wanted to debrand it and work on my own firmware for it after getting source of someone's build close enough to what I wanted. I just don't know if it'd be okay on Verizon's networks as far as working like a normal phone.
*Edit*
Reading again many posts, I've come to understand that HTC Trophy and HTC Trophy 7 are the same except HTC Trophy '7' is Verizon model?
First off, do not worry about debranding the Verizon Trophy (SparkW).. it serves no purpose (only on Spark/GSM Trophy does it serve a purpose).
The 2.01 SPL is easily downgraded to 1.03 so you can do HSPL (which is what my guide will show you). I'm not sure you've read my guide since the thread is really short (being as new as it is). I think you might be mistaking it for the guide for downgrading the original Spark (which is rather complicated). As I recommend in my guide though, you shouldn't do HSPL until you are prepared to install a custom rom (info on getting a pre-release from DFT in thread after a few post).
I wouldn't even try to rationalize calling Verizon Trophy anything else other then "SparkW" or "Verizon Trophy." Some GSM Trophy's are known as "7 Trophy" which makes matters even worse. GSM Trophy's codename is simply "Spark." Almost every other CDMA carrier picked up the "GoldC" (HTC Arrive on Sprint), so I doubt we'll see SparkW on any other carrier (and since it isn't on Sprint, we won't get huge 3rd party rom support). I curse Verizon for not following suite and making the GoldC the new TouchPro2...
I am working out the kinks of cooking a basic SparkW rom, but I can't really tweak it with the XIP rebuilding issues I am having. Man I miss PPCK, but WP7 cooking is in its infancy even today.
I am quite certain I read your guide. Perhaps I've read the wrong one. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1503298) It warns against 2.XX SPL and to wait.
When I meant I wanted to debrand my phone I did mean in terms of deving my own firmware for it. I'm mostly into SB6XXXs as of late (Docsis 3.0 modems more specifically) but these limitations imposed by Microsoft and Verizon in my situation just anger me a bit.
From now I'll assume Verizon's Trophy is 'SparkW'. Thank you for clarifying that. I thought about going Sprint or AT&T, I need an Unlimited Data plan and Tethering.
As far as building a rom, where might I get whatever compiler/packager (I dunno how WP7 phones take roms etc)? I greatly appreciate your clarifications and support.
