Winodows 6.5 - Tbilisi Time is set to GMT +3 - should be GMT+4 - General Questions and Answers

Hi everyone,
I am new to forum, hopefully I am doing everything right. I searched the forum and didn't find the anyone adressing this issue already.
I bought a new HTC HD2, currently I live in Germany and calendar synchronisation is functioning perfectly with my Winodows 7 System. As the GMT Times are the same on my HTC HD2 and Windows 7.
Problem: Originally I am from Georgia (Country) and live in capital Tbilisi, I went on Christmas holidays at home, and once I synchronised the data, it messed everything up. I reserached a bit and found out what is wrong.
Here goes: Tbilisi Time Zone is set on windows Mobile 6.5 at GMT +3 and on Windows 7 GMT +4. Microsoft has updated the right timezone of Windows 7, but forgot to update Windows Mobile. (Note: There are no daylight saving changes in Georgia, Tbilisi has the same time whole Year, so these updates are not a issue) Is there any update available to change the +3 to +4 because its really frustrating not to be able to use one of the most important features of pocket PC.
Thanks in Advance,
Best regards,
Chris

Hi and welcome to the forums!
It's good that you searched before posting and that you posted in the correct section. Many beginners can learn from you!
I don't know if I understand you right but are you trying to get your phone time to GMT 4+?
If so, you can do that pretty easily.
Go to the settings tab of manila, press menu and go to all settings.
On the system tab, go to 'Clocks & alarms' . There you can change the GMT.
Hope this helps, just say it if you meant something else.

Hi ElCondor,
Thanks for the feedback, however, that is not what I meant. I already tried that, the problem is that If I need to change the Timezone to +4 I can't choose my home town "Tbilisi", I have to change it to let's say Baku, Azerbaijan.
That would be Okay even for a perfectionist type of person like I am, but Azerbaijan is following the DST changes and in march it will switch back to +5 whereas Tbilisi will remain on +4, which will once again mess up my calendar because on my Laptop of Windows 7 Tbilisi will remain on +4.
Georgia is not involved in the DST system, we have the same time 365 days a Year, that's why I can't use instead of Tbilisi some other city which has +4 cause they all are follwoging DST.
To be more clear I am looking for a patch of any type of update which will change my HTC HD2 GMT exclusively for Tbilisi from +3 to +4.
Thanks once again!
Best Regards,
Chris

Hmm that's a hard one... I've done a quick search but couldn't find anything.
I think you'll have to live with it and changing the time back then, which results in a messed up calendar.
I'm afraid I can't help you, and I don't think there's anyone on the forum who can.
Regards,
EC

Interesting DST issues

M$ states that the DST fix for the USA is built into WM6, as the last paragraph here states. So I thought it was odd that a client with an Exchange 2003 server with one user with a custom WM6 Hermes 8525 and another user with a brand new 8925 Tilt with latest Official AT&T WM6 ROM complained of odd calendar issues. Both had All Day appointments changing to multiday appointments starting and ending at 1:00 AM. Then I tested creating a Holy Thursday and Good Friday All Day Calendar event using my Hermes and my Exchange server, same thing. Holy Thursday on the PDA changed to Wednesday and Good Friday changed to Thursday (not good!) Of course all my servers are up to date, as are the workstations. Installed the WM6 DST and corrected the appointments on my workstation, changed the time zone from EST to another timezone and back to EST per Billy Bob Gate's instructions and now all is fine.
Curious on other folks findings concerning this...
( I posted this originally on the Hermes WM6 Forum and though it'd be better here, sorry for the cross post )\
Determined my problems due to automatically getting time zone from Cingular (which I kind of suspected) If I turn that off and manually change it to something different than my EST, save, then change back to EST all is well.
If I don't, all my All Day events are one day earlier, freaking Cingular! I remember last year with my Wizard that it would show Indiana instead of Eastern and assummed that it was fixed as it has indicated Eastern for quite a while now..
Oh well, false alarm, kinda sorta .

Thumbcal problem

Hi
At first time sorry for my bad english. Im from spain and i have to improve it.
OK, I've installed thumbcal 1.2.5, with manila2d.
My problem is that I want manila's home shows me when I have an appointment. For example, If i have to do an exam on wednesday, I want manila shows me that appointment on sunday, for example, and NOT the previus day, tuesday.
Thumbcal dont notify me with enought time... only notify me the previus day...
I dont know if you have understand this, well... i hope yes, or i will have to use a translator hahaha
Thanxs
uuuuuuuuuuuup
reeeeeeeeeeuuuuup
I'll try to help but I only use Thumbcal and not Manilla2D.
What it looks like is happening is that the Manilla 2d calendar/appointments screen is only showing the current day's appointments. I use S2U2, and it has an option to show events for 1 day, 2 days, 3 days, and more. I would think M2D would have the same setting but, not knowing the program, I have no idea where you would look for that option.
One easy workaround is to set a reminder for 3 days early on each appointment. It won't be a constant visual reminder that your looking for but it will at least popup and bring it to your attention.
Ok Gramon.
I've understand you.
Thanks!

DST update 2009 for WM6/WM6.x

Maybe wrong place, wrong question, sorry for this. don't know where to ask this q.
from june 19, 2009. my country (Bangladesh, +6 GMT) apply DST time and increase time to 1 hour. I have found all other operating system update for this new DST changes but unable to find any for windows mobile. this is very importent cause lots of user like me use windows mobile to sync mail, calender and task.
So is there any patch release from Microsoft or any other provider? Or
is it possible to do it manually by hacking the registry?
Pls HELP.
Hi,
I live in bangladesh as well and am looking for the same patch, i doubt one exists but im sure someone can come up with a small .cab that fixes this. I think it would be better if this was moved to the hacking & development section because a DST app/hack needs to be made.
I've searched for an official microsoft update...but had no luck so far.
EDIT: this might help: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/914387
We can fix it on Windows XP or Vista with the fix here:
http://www.dotcomunderground.com/blogs/2009/06/20/bangladesh-dst-fix-for-windows-xp-and-vista/
But any luck on Windows Mobile?
This resource might help someone willing to work on it:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/914387/
Its a Windows XP/Vista based resource though. But might help if you know how to port it to WinMo.
EDIT: I HAVENT TRIED THIS YET!
The manual way to change your DST settings, the official Microsoft method from here.
an additional note...dont use the link in step 4...its an old 2008 DST update
try doing it using the outlook DST edit method

Is there a programme to switch profiles baised on time?

Afternoon all,
I'm getting my Touch Diamond 2 on Wednesday and I'm trying to find all the s/w I need so I can fill it up as soon as I get it
I'm switching from symbain after a few years and one of the few programmes I can't find for wm 6 is something to auto switch profiles.
On symbain there are a number of progs that'll, for example, enable general at 7:30, switch to another profile at 9:00 when I get to work, back to gen at 17:30 and then to silent at 23:00.
If there anything to do this, I've scanned around the web but can't find anything ?
Thanks...
First google search result fella
http://www.connectivetools.com/switchprofile.html
Worth a go!
Try this one: G-Profile
CommManagerpro. The best
PhoneAlarm....
Thanks guys. Don't know how I missed the first one !! Must have been 'over thinking' the search options !

Calender showing week numbers

Hello,
I have been searching for a while now with no luck. Maby one of you knows,
I am looking for a calender, or actualy a calender mod, so that the manila calender on my hd2 in month view also show what week it is.
Example, right now it is week 8, or the end of it. so in month view I would like to have the number 8 infront of this weeks row, and a 9 infront (or actually to the left) of next week and so on. Do I make any sense?
Anyone knows how I can make this happen?
best regards Johan
I would be thakful for the same thing
if you do not insist of Manila calender to do so, you can try to use PortablePIM.
The software can be switched to English under options (the light blue icon)
Thanks for the help,
I will try it and see how it works. It would be nice to have it in manila though...
Please...
Can someone make a mod for Us all...
I have asked the same question to HTC support... last month and still no answer from them.... shame,
News anyone
Hello,
Just wanted to post the question again.
Anyone seen any progress in this area?
I think it would be really nice to have the week number in the calender.
I agree. It's a weekly pain in the ass when at workplace we're deciding the next occassion for a meeting and the suggestions are almost always in "How about the Tuesday morning in week XX" format. I always have to ask what date are you talking about as my Sense calendar isn't able to display the week number in any of the available views.
I also want one :-D
I would be much more thankful if there is also a little Moon icon which says half/full moon etc. and, that would be best, a possibility to import holidays.
All that i a way that it is not shown in the agenda but only in the calendar itself
A app for HTC sense showing week numbers would be very nice.
I now use a quick link to the Windows calendar to look up the week numbers
ThumbCal
I found an application called thumbcal that seem to work well. The only sad part is that you need to buy it...
I prefer Aganda One - but you also have to pay for it...
I would like week nrs. in hTC Calendar as well, meanwhile i look into WM Calendar:
