Hey,
I am in desperate need for a new cell phone, as my old HTC wizard died.
I am looking for a phone that can also support GPS software, such at TomTom or iGo. It was no problem running iGo or TomTom on the wizard. The Vox seems to have the same processor so, it should run fine.
My only concern is the lack of the touch screen. Will this be a big problem?
How it the lack of a touchscreen with daily WM6 operations. I am actually looking for a device that does not have a touchscreen, but I think WM is designed to have a touchscreen.
Also can you recommend a place where you purchased your device?
Please give me any comments you may have.
Thanks,

Try a different ROM/radio ROM. Some ROMs have some issues, that are only rectified in different builds or with different drivers.

Hello!
Well, i have the same problem(no wifi), and I am trying to do diag's
and I have tried 10-15 times so far , different rom's clean/full(wm5, wm6 wm6.1)
different radios (69.21, 19.21, 43...) in a G4 hardspl-ed.
So I was thinking what else should i try ?
Is there a debug version?
It would be cool to add some diagnostics to wiki!
ps: it was a second hand from ebay

AFAIK, apart from MTTY (which I can't use well) there are no diagnostic tools...
What I would suggest, is flashing the original ROM for your device, and seeing if that works...

well it seems that orange don't have official rom, i'm making tests on power drain
to see if there are "leaks" but the problem is that it is dependent to firmware,
the minimum that i saw was about 16mA with some "clean" rom but typically it
can go up to 56mA
Also i was thinking about firing up a Linux kernel but i don't thing that the wlan is supported (yet).
DASH Power Drain Possible Reason
Hey all, I've got a T-Mobile Dash (HTC Excalibur) running WM6.1 Kavana, which is great!
Thing is, it does not stay lit very long. 5 maybe 6 odd hours.
No Wifi. (Driver not loaded error)
I installed Facada 1.4.9 on it, and somehow, the wifi came back, and was functional, for a whole of one day.
Here's the kicker. The phone was at 100% that morning, when I installed Facade. By 10PM the phone was at 81%, amazing! Hasn't lasted that long (960Mah).
Thing is, I tried the Wi-fi, and it has once again failed. (after 10PM). Battery returned to superdrain mode.
My hypothesis is that the driver doesn't load, because the Wifi is already on, and is not functioning properly! Therefore, since it is on, the battery is draining rapidly trying to maintain power to the wifi. And since the driver doesn't initialize, the phone doesn't recognize (software) that the wifi is on, therefore you can't turn it on or off, and your battery will drain very rapidly.
I'm going to call HTC and give them my opinion on this situation, and see if they have any solutions (apart from buying a new phone.
This is a used E-Bay purchased phone. From day one, full functionality, including WIFI and Bluetooth. Battery lasted up to 3 days on standby.
Now, no Wifi, battery lasts (960Mah) 5-7 hours (standby) less with talking.
Hope this clarifies some of the concern on the battery and wifi loss issues. As soon as I have a solution, I will post back.
Cheers gents!
(Sorry mods for this being NOT in the Excalibur forum, just thought it might be relevant even for a different model seeing as the hardware/software is very similar)
PS. Wifi is once again functional (Day after) for reasons unknown!
Battery is charging, and is actually back to factory specs on battery life.
I bought a I-MATE JAQ4 from a software developer about 8 months ago. I guess this model never went into production, and the phone is a prototype. I-MATE quit the JAQ line. Oh well.
Anyway, anybody know what alternative OS builds I can install on this thing? I am guessing it is not too much different than the JAQ3, it just has WM6 on it.
Any insightful information about this device would be appreciated.
Thanks.
*bump*.....
Imate Jaq4
I also have a the Imate JAQ4 (which is a prototype) - I have been in touch with Imate (via their site) apparently the model is due for release anytime now in this country.
Try checking out the site for suitable downloads.
The only problem I have now encountered is finding a replacement battery - I had to do a hard reset on my unit and since then the battery wont charge (unless any one out there knows a way to jump start the battery back to life).
Everywhere I have tried that advertise compatable batteries do not seem to carry any stock.
I am not sure what is going on with the I-Mate JAQ4, however...
Isn't the same as the Pharos Traveler M619 (http://www.pharosgps.com/products/proddetail.asp?prod=001%5FPTL619%5F7%2E9&cat=136 )? I got one, pretty good, but slow processor and low memory (very similar to the Dash, at least it seems to me, but with bigger screen, touch screen and gps, )
There currently not much support in the way of firmware upgrades, but they did release version 6.1 a while back.
GPS refuse SD CARD ,WHY?
my configuration: 2G MICRO SD WITH ADAPTER
when i launch GPS , sd disappear and can't be accessed. i have to plug out and insert again.
why?
there is some patch for this bug .
thanks
Hello all, I was recently given an older Dell Axim X3 and I'm trying to figure out if it's possible to upgrade it to Windows Mobile 6 (or even 5). I can never leave things well enough alone so I figured it would be a neat trick to get it running on there, it looks like it should handle it spec-wise. Looking under the battery the unit says Rev A03, it does have wifi built in. Going to system info I get:
Model: Dell Axim X3
Processor Type: Intel XScale
Processor Speed: 400MHz
RAM Size: 64MB
ROM Size: 64MB
ROM Version: A00(09100300EN)
Language: English
Wireless Attend...: WirelessLAN
(left the UUID out, if this is necessary information let me know and I will post that too)
About shows: (Leaving out the non-interesting info)
Microsoft Pocket PC
Version 4.20.1081 (Build 13100)
I saw on Dell's website they have a software upgrade to A01 for it but that's still just the 2003 OS. Is it feasible to get WM6 or 5 running on this?
Hi all, I do not speak English, I use a translator but look, I installed the Windows Mobile 6.5 for hx2000 series and mine is a HP IPAQ hx2490c, was not in the list hasi I started to try and now that for the upgrade of the PC, disconnect the iPAQ Pocket PC and not do anything, reset and even Hard Reset I gave it what he wanted to install, and still remains in standby as the first step of all, I've done everything and even did the format for hardware and nothing stays the same does not react, and according to the manual I read said that it was like a "brick" no longer works, please help me you know we can, I cost very expensive and was a few days ago to buy it please I beg you to help me with this!!
