How to turn off on-screen answer/reject? - Touch Pro, Fuze General

Is there a way to make the send key for example the only way to answer a call? I have accidentally either rejected a call or answered a call I didnt want to answer, or made ghost calls when its in mycase or pocket because the on screen answer/reject gets touched. Locking the device doesnt work, as ANY notification unlocks it.
Ideas?

get s2u2 that has slide to answer or reject which you can ignore and just use buttons
or get the updated dialer from htc which also has it

HTC Dialer
Dear lbhocky19,
Where to get the updated HTC Dialer?
Thanks in advance!

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=464286
and if you update your rom pretty much all of them have it

Wow - a million times, thank you!
I've been beating my head in over this ever since I upgraded from an old rom (monx 1.51). First I though it was S2U2, then the new lock in 6.5, then the new lock in the newer versions of 6.1.
In the words of Yzma, "why do we even _have_ that setting (lever)?!?"

Trouble accepting calls

Ever since i installed wm6.5 (and I tried a few) I am have trouble accepting incoming calls. This is different from the lock screen issue. Whenever I get an incoming call i see it and either hit the hard key or slide left on-screen to accept but it doesn't answer but continues to ring. if I slide then the slider gets stuck all the way to the left until it stops ringing.
Any ideas as to what could cause this, I have this on different wm6.5 roms, and my friend who has the same wm6.5 rom has no problems.
Please help
well turns out it does answer but takes like a few secs to engage so if i click to answer late in the ring it doesnt have time to answr b4 the person goes to voicemail. i did use trapcall b4, and have now cacelled, maybe it is causing my problems?
any info of how I can reset att to default settings like voicemail and get 100% rid of trapcall.
I got this from a different thread and saved it to my computer just in case I bumped into this problem. I don't know if it'll work on 6.5, but you might want to give it a try:
I had the same problem as many others: When data is on (active or dormant, EVDO or 1xRTT (dormant), it takes many seconds for the calls to be answered, the phone keeps ringing even though I pressed the answer key.
It does appear that one of the tweak applications created the problem, at least for some. After much research, this may be it...
Take a look at your HKLM/Comm/ConnMgr/Planner/Settings/SuspendResume
It is a multi-sz value and should be #777. If it shows anything like ~GPRS or something containing GPRS, change it back to #777 and soft reset.
When I used PHM Regedit to correct this, it seemed to crash (the reg editor never crashed before now). I had to use SKTool's regedit. I will create an export if this will help you.
Once I changed it back to #777, I can answer the call immediately when data is on, time and time again. Prior to this, there was a significant delay.
Dude, thank you so much, I cant believe it was so simple. But I'm confused how it happened in the first place. Anyways yeah, changing SuspendResume to #777 works wonders.
I've got a slightly different Slide To Answer issue.
I just updated to the newest HTC stock rom for my Touch Pro.
I noticed on the first call that Slide to Answer was part of this rom.
It seemed to work well but suddenly I lost the slide button. The green bar for answer and red for reject are still there but the slider itself has disappeared. The only other thing I have changed since the rom upgrade is to add a cab file (from an XDA thread) that restored my Chinese fonts. Could something in that have disabled the button graphic?
What else could it be? How do I get this button back?
Also, is there a way to customize the Slide to Answer screen?
Rom: 5.07.707.2 WWE
Radio: 1.11.25.01
The Slide-to-Answer, for whatever reason, never worked right on my Fuze, so I just disable it.

Touch Pro 2 (Sprint) Answer Call Slide Issue (?)

Hiya.
Longtime lurker, firsttime poster. I'm currently experiencing an issue with my Sprint HTC Touch Pro 2. I've had it for about a week now, and this problem seems to come and go. I'm using the stock ROM and TouchFlo3d; though I've also been playing around with the SPB Mobile Shell 3.5 (love the widgets!). Anywho, the issue (finally):
When I get a phone call, the callerID pops up and I have the slide-to-answer screen. I can either slide to the left or slide to the right (now dip, baby, dip) (sorry). When I slide to the left, most of the times the entire answer button turns green and the phone just keeps ringing. Like, I'm TRYING to answer it... but it won't let me! About 20% of the time, though, it slides successfully all the way over and I can then talk. But - again - most of the time it just turns green and I can't answer it. Even if I press the hard button on the lower left of the phone (the "phone" button).
Anyone have any ideas/suggestions/tips/tricks on how to fix this? With slide-out keyboards on a touch screen phone called the Touch Pro (2), it sure as hell is hard to google around for an answer! RTFM didn't help, either.
Thanks in advance to anyone who might be able to help me out, here.

Hi, a friend has the same device and had the same problem, he solved it by going to the site of HTC and get the updates and now the problem is gone, also is there already many rom update`s there to windows mobile 6.5
Succes,
Greetz from Holland
Thanks mate. Unfortunately, though - that didn't work. :\
In the download section at HTC's site, it states: "This update can only be applied to ROM version 1.20.xxx.x or previous, otherwise the update will fail."
I'm on ROM version 1.21.651.3.
I went ahead and tried to DL and install the CallerID Update - but it wouldn't install. I received the "This hotfix is not compatible with your device" error message.
Any other suggestions? Oh, btw FWIW - this runs Windows 6.1. 6.5 isn't yet available for the Sprint HTC Touch Pro 2 (or so I hear). Thanks again!

Try this Site scroll to bottom of page, give your serial and see if you can download it,maybe you must unlock your CID first to install it
negative. Didn't like my serial number. Regardless, everything I've read so far has said you can't really upgrade a US/Sprint/CDMA HTC Touch Pro 2 to Windows Mobile 6.5.
*sigh*
If only the phone part of the phone worked... this would be one helluva phone!
Will see what i can do have a orginal wwe 6.5 (from htc site) for it, but i think you must unlock touch pro2 orelse it will say invalid vendor i will upload it today and put a link here
EDIT--you can download HERE the Wm 6.5 (download the 2 files, click the .exe) unpack and Happy Flashing...I Have NOT Flashed it,because i have no touchpro2
Greetz from Holland
I have the exact same problem
Anybody got this resolved yet? I am running wm6.5 stock rom from sprint on my touch pro 2...
I'm having the same issue with my stock 6.5 rom.
phone rings but sometimes either slide to answer and hard button answer does not work.
Since I have not found a answer to this I will be doing a hard reset to see if it fixes

Any luck? I still have this issue.
A mobile phone that won't answer calls....
... seems a lot like sex without orgasms...!
I have the Sprint HTC TouchPro2 with the stock ROM, no additionally software installed, and yawp! Maybe 15-20% of the time I am able to answer calls. Grrrrr. I've been an HTC user prettymuch from day one, and this is the *laggiest* and *buggiest* phone by far! Normally, I customize and flash ROMs like crazy, but I have *no* interest in doing so with this phone... it should work out of the box, and it simply doesn't.
I have insurance, and keep taking my brand new phones back to Sprint. They look at it, and tell me to come back in two days when they'll have a new phone for me - at least that part is hassle-free. :/ I am now on my FOURTH new phone - all with the same 'unable to answer calls' problem- slide to answer jst slides to the green and freezes there; trying to use the answer button (bottom left bottun on the face of the phone) doesn't work either, and a minute or so after pressing it, I get the message, "unable to open sendkey.exe" blahblahblah,*and* each0hone I've received has multiple other problems: severe lag and freezing, sometimes the screen goes black, or pixelated so you can't see anything, SMS won't open (using the winmo, not HTC SMS shell, even), etc., etc., ad naseum.
I figure this will keep happening until the WinMo7 phones arrive in January2011 (almost there, anyway, since it is now the end of December!), after which I can request one of those instead of this brick.
I've had to tell my friends and family to text me if they want to talk to me on the phone, and I'l ring them back.
(other things I *really* dislike about this phone are: no external camera button, no external internet browser button, no 'ok' button, no scroll buttons, no flash for the camera, oh hellz: the list goes on and on! And, really - I adore HTC... but! this is their crummiest phone by far....)

I love my new Droid but...

The phone interface totally sux! Is there anything better out there? When I get a call I have to drag the thing over to answer. This is very hard to do with 1 hand. Also half the time the screen goes black and I have to unlock it or whatever. Is there any way to just tap to answer?
Making calls is 10 times worse, you have to unlock the phone, find the phone app, open your contacts, tap your contact, tap make call, and then tap call!! It’s like I have to type a freaking paragraph just to make a call! Is there any way to just press one button to open the phone and then press 1 button to speed dial??
Also I turned on Google Voice to make all my calls. It nice and I know how to turn that off, but now all my incoming calls it says "incoming call from so-and-so... Press 1 to accept" so I have to tape the dial pad, and then tap 1, adding 2 more taps just to answer a freaking call! How do I turn that off?
I love everything else about this PDA, but the phone sux! Please help...
---signed, frustrated
P.S. I think I used less key strokes typing all this than I need to to make a call! lol
Any chance they will improve this interface in v2.2??
Very constructive. And I see it’s your 11th post. It’s not a matter of being impatient. It’s a matter of missing calls because its nearly impossible to do while driving, walking a dog with a leash in one hand, caring groceries, almost every real life situation that keeps you from using both hands on your phone. And as I described it’s a lot more than the 1 swipe.
If you don’t agree with me you don’t need to reply but I find the swipe open to be unacceptable and I'm asking if there is another interface out there that is just a tap open. Or a way to map a hard key to answer the freaking phone!
I'm sitting here at my work phone calling myself over and over to "practice" answering with the swipe. I can do it with one hand but it’s a pain in the ass and just thoroughly a really, really bad design. There has to be an app or mod or something that does away with this.
I just saw the new "Rule the air" Droid commercial. Cool commercial... Notice the one thing they didn’t show anyone doing? Getting or making a call!!!
All these new devices are fantastic PDAs with a really bad phone function slapped on top...
BTW with an 2.2 Froyo official release or rom, when the call comes up theres no need to unlock or swipe, just a click of a button.
What are you running 2.1, 2.01/0 or 2.2? Why don't you try finding an app on the store or searching here? You never know....
So I literally called myself 10 times and practiced answering the phone with one hand. Then I went out to bars and got actual calls and it was like impossible to answer them. That drag thing is just ridicules!! You have to drag it all the way across the screen!! Cany they at least meet me half way?? Even with 2 hands it’s hard to answer!!
Come on, you guys all know this is true. This design is just awful!
I understand why they did it, so when you get a call while it’s in your pocket it doesn’t tap against something and answer when you don’t know it… but it’s just terrible!! And like I said making calls is even worse. It’s like a ton of taps so there is no way to make a call while driving.
The Bluetooth headset would help but we all know anyone that actually uses that looks like a total D-bag..
So here is my solution… Someone will make a killing on this and it will make a mockery of the Android phone interface at the same time. We need a little, lightweight Bluetooth dumb phone that has physical answer and hang-up buttons as well as the full number pad that you can assign speed dials too like a NORMAL F-ING PHONE!! If this was out there on the market I would pay $100 easy for! Leave your brilliant PDA that sucks as a phone in your pocket and use the Bluetooth handset to actually make and take calls like a normal human!!
1. how tiny are your hands that you can't slide the bar down with your thumb?
2. i think there's an app called dialer one that will open a keypad where you can see all your contacts and spell their names out with the numberpad to make it easier
Just because some of you don't have the same issues as the OP doesn't give any of us the right to respond in this manner.
The OP has been called dumb, amateur, told he shouldn't have a smartphone; and the list goes on.
I personally have the EVO; there's not a damn thing wrong with my hands and I come from a very long time of smartphones. MORE times than I can count, I'm swiping the screen and not a damned thing is moving. By the time it unlocks, the caller is gone.
So until you have the same problem, some of you might want to get your head out the clouds and stop replying like these *smart* phones are perfect and the people using them are too dumb to know what they're doing.
On HTC phones with Sense you simply press a button to answer. No swiping. I'm surprised there's no app out there to do this on other Android phones.

I have to slide to answer my phone if it's locked before I get a call. I prefer the swipe because I don't want to accidentally answer a call while the phone is in my pocket. That said, I would recommend the op check out the app I mentioned or root his phone and find a sense based rom
there are apps for this kind of problem search market and google

Do not be surprised, because there is an app to achieve this. It is called ed's Droid Tools.
I've used Gesture Search (by Google) since it was released on the Market for finding and calling and/or texting my contacts. Put it on your home screen, then when you want to call somebody, open Gesture Search then write their first initial with your finger (or thumb) then touch the phone icon to call or the message icon to text. Works well for me. Never tried it driving, but then again, I'm one of those guys who yells at idiots who drive and talk on their cell at the same time (it's illegal here).
The standard Droid UI doesn't have a skin, so you get the basic Android dialer. While I don't think the slide-to-answer is all that bad, I'm also coming from a Blackberry Storm, which was wicked-terrible when it came to doing... well anything, so I don't complain much about the stock android experience. One thing Android is good for though, is allowing UI replacement apps (ala Dialer One) so poke around the Market and I'm sure you can find something that changes the answer experience for you.

hey dude
to help you out with your dialing problem all you have to do is put the phone/contacts app on your homescreen. the way you described calling the contact is the same way you'd have to do it on almost every other phone so don't act like its a huge task.
organize your homescreens to your preference so that it could make your life easier.
also you can add people to your favorites list so you dont have to scroll through your whole contact list.
as for answering calls, its not that bad. you just gotta hold that green button and slide your finger over. I don't understand how that's difficult or why you'd need practice
phone doesn't suck at all bud
Hi There,
I was thinking of getting one of those because most of my calling during driving...
do you advice me to do so? i mean is the hardware bad? or it is just a matter of waiting for sometime to get an update solving all these problems?
Thank you in advance.

Removing the Sense incoming call screen???

How would I achieve this? Im fully rooted running the Sprint lovers rom. I have a custom font flashed along with my lcd density modified. The combo of the 2 makes the Sense bar look horrible. I managed to delete the sense lockscreen and it automaticly reverted to the vanilla one which is what I want. Can some one please help me to achieve this outcome on the incoming call screen. It is the only thing between me and having my Evo the way I want it.
Sent from my Evo using XDA App
From what I understand, I don't think it can be done. I would LOVE if there was a way to do this but I believe it is coded into the framework and it can't be removed. That's my understanding of it. Too bad
That would be good... if its possible JS would prolly be the 1 to figure it out....
Sent from my HTC Evo
Not possible with sense..the lock screen can be changed to the aosp lock screen but that doesn't remove the Htc incoming lock screen, its tied to the dialer
sent from my DAMN EVO
speaking of the sense incoming call screen, how many other people have the problem where maybe 20% of the time the screen won't respond to input and allow you to unlock or answer the call? This is pretty much the only thing that ever goes wrong with my phone lol. I end up having to just hit the power button, miss the call, and then call them back...a little annoying

I have the same issue. One of the only issues I have with my phone. The other being sliding out of my pocket answers/declines calls. Thus looking for a way to remove the slider. Guess we are stuck.
^^^ I have the same problem... doesnt happen too often, but it is annoying. Could this be due to a phone call coming in when CPU is running at a minimun setting?

[Q] Trying to remove lockscreen...

Before I discovered all of these ROMs on this forum that were somewhat debloated already, I spent a lot of time going through and debloating it myself to get it exactly how I want it and make it as vanilla as possible.
Along that train of thought, I'm having a heck of a time with the lockscreen. It's easy to rename or remove htclockscreen.apk, same as the Inc2 and TBolt. However, upon doing that, while the phone does revert back to the stock Android lockscreen, you can't answer an incoming call while locked. You have to unlock it, and then it appears as though you're already in the call - therefore all you can do is "end call" and call back.
For a period, Widget Locker seemed to remedy this, but it was inconsistent, at best. I've also messed with some of the idlescreen apk's (related to the Sense 3.0 "apps" within the lockscreen), to no avail. What am I missing?
TIA...
I think you have to select the option 'Hide Incoming Calls' in WidgetLocker settings for calls to work properly. You still have to unlock before answering, though. Unfortunately, that happens when you disable the lockscreen completely. I got used to it now. After unlocking I see the incoming call and have the option to answer or decline.
Definitely better than not being able to answer at all... thanks for that - I'll give that a shot.
That definitely did the trick... honestly that's not a bad feature anyway - decreases the chance of a pocket answer, and an extra swipe is no big deal to me.
What's weird is, in my testing, the other way worked fine as well... i.e. it came up normal before enabling "hide incoming calls". Who knows...
