Hey guys, hopefully you can help me out with some of my queries on customizing wm6.5.
How can i set the lockscreen to be always lit, instead of dim on wakeup/lock. I cant find any backlight tab in the power settings. Is there anything in the registry for it?
What about the constant vibration on normal+vibration mode, can I have it set to the same ryhtmic vibration for manner mode? I know there's an app called VAlert, but is there any registry tweak for it? Also, can I stop the music/vibration for a text after I tap on the screen? As for now, it'll only stop if i press the End Key.
And one more thing, can I remove the BCC CC From to subject fields etc from Messaging. I seem to recall there's a tool for it but I cant remember what it's called.
Thanks =D

It may be under Start->Settings->Personal tab->Lock, or on my current ROM, Start->Settings->System tab->Power->Backlight, and there's a checkbox.

I think VAlert should use a registry tweak to do it. Not sure though... As to the second part, I don't think that's possible...

Not seen that... Although in 6.X ROMs messaging uses html based form creation, so have a look for email.htm or new_email.htm in \Windows, and see if there's anything discernible in there.
Just found something new that may be of interest for question one...

Thanks for all your replies.
I have checked the link you provided and tried what have been suggested but unfortunately they did not work. My LockLevel key kept going back to 0 after soft reset.
Well I might have to just use VAlert in the end. Will check out the email.htm too.

Right... Very odd. Did it work whilst LockLevel wasn't 0? If so, I can write a quick applet that sets it to whatever at startup.

Well, I am not sure if I needed to restart for it to be take effect or not, but it didnt work when I lock the phone after I edited the registry. Screen was still dimmed. So I am not sure if it was because it didnt work, or the registry change didnt take effect.

As far as I remember, the screen remains dim till you tap it... Does tapping it bring the screen back to normal brightness?
Yes when I tap it, it lights up. But what I am looking for, is for it to not dim in the first place, to have it light up once you turn it on.

That really messed things up. Changing it didnt work, so I tried a soft reset. Once I did, the keyboard was permanently on the screen and refused to go away at all!! Changed it back to '1', did a soft reset and things were back to normal.
If you type something using the HW keyboard when the software keyboard is displayed then it should go away and shouldn't reappear next time.

the first option does work but you have to make sure the change is commited to memory in the registry
try using a program called Ceregeditor
available here
http://ceregeditor.mdsoft.pl/
I couldn't get it to work either, created the dword, saved it, soft rest and checked it was ok, still didn't work
the best would be a method to deactivate SIP only when physical keyboard is open

Yeap,
I've tried both registry chagnges today
First one doesnt work at all, sip is still popping up on thet field
Second one made a little mess in settings - the keyboard stayed all the time, there was no option to disable it so I've roll back settings to default and ... still waiting for solution

So there is no solution so far or ?

I can think of a solution but the problem is who will implement it (it is not so hard):
If the physical keyboard is open it is detectable right? (the system already reacts to it, may play a sound, presents the side sortcuts, rotates the screen)
Why not in addition to those actions, also SWITCH SIP to an EMPTY one? This way even if we cannot easily interrupt the system from trying to pop up the SIP, at least it will pop up a "null" one!
What do you think?
did anyone find the correct solution for this to deactivate sip keyboard when hardware keyboard is opened.

In my house I have really bad reception. Some apps sometimes try to use my data connection to download updates. The problem is, if I don't have any reception at that time, a window pops up telling me it cannot connect.
How can I turn that off? I went through settings and notifications and couldn't find anything. I went through Schapp's Advanced Config and couldn't find it either. There must be a way to disable notification that the phone couldn't connect for data... so how do I do it?
deactivate data connection in comm manager. I use phonealarm which does it every night and have no more "cannot connect"-messages anymore.
Thanks for the reply... but that's not exactly what I'm looking to do.
I work from home so I'm home most of the day. I use my phone quite a bit to for certain tasks. I need the phone to be able to try and connect whenever it wants... I just don't want to be notified if it can not connect.

I haven't found a way to do this. However, I've written a program to handle those popups while using TomTom (see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=458342), but there's no reason why you couldn't have something like that running all the time. It wouldn't stop the popups, but it would auto-close them for you within a short period of time.
Do you want me to write that for you?
Cheers,
Steve.
Thanks for the reply Steve and for offering to create an app for me.
But I don't think it would really solve my biggest issue... which is having the popup show every few minutes while I'm actually using the phone. It's faster for me to just click on the dismiss button.
So it doesn't look like there's a way to disable this "feature." You'd think there'd be a registry value to edit or something.
But thank you again for offering to help.

Yes, you would have thought there would be an option for this. A program to auto close the dialog could make it so that it literally just flicks up, and then disappears, but I agree it's not terribly satisfactory.
Cheers,
Steve
What you need is to turn off Auto Connecting, but you have to do manual using some registry edit software:
Change DWORD Value from "1" to "0" in:
HKCU\Software\HTC\ConnectionSetup\EnableAUTODetect

SmartTouch Registry Settings
I would try playing around (but not too much) with the SmartTouch Registry Settings, to see if adjusting any of them help. It may be possible to completely remove Messaging from SmartTouch, though I can't find a registry entry that pertains to it, specifically. It could be this one:
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\SmartTouch\Outlook Email]
"WheelCount"=dword:00000002
"Mode"=dword:00000004
"ClassName"="Inbox.MainWnd"
You can try deleting that entire key, soft reset, and see if it still adjusts the Text size.
You may also want to try reducing the sensitivity of the SmartTouch. These registry entries *may* have something to do with that (though I'm just guessing here):
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\SmartTouch]
"FirstThreshold"=dword:00000008
"Threshold"=dword:00000008
Report back if any of those keys had an effect.
thank you, i'll carefully try...
still resizes. all it did is that i cant use touch pad to scroll up/down in the inbox

U can try this, but im not responsible if you have to hard reset your phone.
Using advanced config:
Menu>More Settings>SmartTouch
Delete Outlook Email
OK>Done>Yes to reset.
Let me know if that works for you.

You caught me. That's where I got the idea to see if it was listed by advanced config. wasnt sure how comfortable he was with registry editing.
My screen goes crazy. During a call up to my ear it flips to horizontal, changes out of key pad view and not always to mute/speakerphone... keys view, sometimes to contact info, and can be a nightmare to get back to "end call." I've found times when the caller hung up but the TP2 put them on hold and kept my time going.
Any programs and or reg hacks to:
1) stop the horizontal flip when placed to an ear, and
2) keep it in keypad mode or general call mode?
Real pain when dialing into a system that requires keypad responses. Everytime I put it back to my ear I have to go through a crazy sequence to get back to the key pad.
This is my only complaint wth this phone, it's not easy to use as a phone!
Thanks.
I have the same problem when dialing into VM, or into any call queue. I looked through the registry a bit. Didn't see anything obviously labeled.
yeah me too. Only thing I could find was using Gyrators' exception list to not rotate the phone, but it wasnt 100% reliable. I would *LOVE* to find a way to stay in keypad mode too.
Hi All - I guess I'm just jumping on the bandwagon but I have the same issue and find it annoying. I loaded the 'incall screen tweak' but that didn't work. Any help more seasoned members than I could offer would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers!!!
I had the same issue too, whenever I put my phone up to my ear (left handed) it would go into landscape. The fix is simple but you have to edit a registry setting. I'm going by memory here, so please forgive the vague info
1) make sure to backup your reg info
2) using your favorite reg edit program, goto
HKCU\Software\HTC\HTCSENSOR\GSensor\Whitelist
3) now this is the part I kind of forgot, you need to find a string with the DATA value that includes "phone" or "dailer"
4) delete that string
5)soft reset and give it a try, the phone shouldn't go into landscape whenever you turn it during a call.

OK, I went where you said, but no dialer, and only phone entry is:
Phone/Lock/Compose/Picture
String= Dialog
And deleting this stopped "lefty" in call flipping? Doesn't make sense to me. Doesn't seem to only control dialer or phone.
Please confirm or anyone out there please help. I don't want to delete something don't understand.
Can I simple change Dialog to something like "Zero" or "0"?

That's it! forgot what the process name was, but yeah, deleting that stopped the phone from trying to change to landscape during a phone call. Deleting that will tell the G-Sensor not to change the orientation of the phone's screen during a phone call, however it also tells it not to change the orientation during a picture (which wasn't a big deal for me cuz I can change it when I view them in windows). You can always look up the process in google or even the forum search tool if you're still scared.
If anyone else is interested I tried a "partial" delete of the suggestion above. I created a new string leaving out the Phone.
Lock/Compose/Picture
String= Dialog
deleted old string with phone/....
So far no more "lefty" crazy problems, and pictures seem to appear in landscape.
Here's hoping all is OK!

Awesome, good job!
I installed Gyrator 2. Just create a new event with the phone as the application. Nothing for orientation, nothing on stylus, and rotate screen for actions. Then promote the event to the top. Highlight your new phone event and select orientation, it will have a check mark and a number one next to the event. It hasn't failed on me yet and I use the key pad all day long with my job!
I just upgraded to the Verizon official WinMo 6.5 and the registry hack doesn't seem to work anymore, and I'm having issues getting Gyrator to work, has anyone resolved this issue for WinMo 6.5?

I haven't had any of the issues with the 6.5 upgrade that were mentioned with 6.1. Haven't needed to add S2U2 since the screen lock is built in and the phone is much more responsive when placed to the ear and then moved away to access the keypad. It's not perfect but vastly improved over 6.1...
I guess my point is try it the way it is with 6.5 and see if you thinks its better. leave gyrator and reg hacks aside for a few.
Is it possible to activate your lock screen by clicking on the sleep button? (Just like S2U2) At this moment I've got it the original way by holding the end call button. I hope there is a simple way to do that, maybe a cab. file?
I'm using a stock win 6.5 ROM.
Here, this should work. its better to install in main memory. once installed, it will appear in your start menu, which u can then configure to suit your needs.
Hope it helps, let me know!

It's one of the first options, lock on standby. The problem with the reg edit is that it locks on backlight dim and uses the winmo call lock.

There is a field that says 'DO Not Lock if runing' what do i write in this field?

I'm using something called AutoLock Screen v 1.7E. It just works, no reg tweakes or anything like that. It lockes the device when it goes to sleep, when you press the power button to turn off the screen, it even does in call lock... but I admit it would be nice if it actualy turned off the screen when in call rather then just locking it...
I recomed you use this version because the newest ones have the tendancy to double lock your device...
